Amie is a voodoo practitioner who also owns a voodoo shop. Her mom loved the wrong guys and Amie is adamant she isn't going to make the same mistakes. She breaks down and casts a spell for her to find her "one true love." That spell awakens Dante, who it turns out worked some magic of his own to be able to come back and find his "one true love."
This was short and sweet. Amie takes some convincing. I thought this worked well as a stand alone.

A lovely short story about using a voodoo spell to find perfect love. Imaginative and romantic, this is a lovely story about patience and acceptance. Very sweet.

So Loved this - - New Orleans is my favorite place to read about. Then add some Voodoo, a trip to the cemetery and LOVE is Unearthed?? Anything Angie Fox writes never fails to be a fast read with humor and romance that keeps the reader in a trance until the last page. Amie has a voodoo shop but has been unlucky in love. Because it is just time; she casts a spell to bring her perfect man to her. This suitor knocks at her door in the middle of the night though he arrives unclothed. This should be enough from me for you to give this one a try. This is part of the Demon Slayer series but this stands alone. "A copy was supplied by the author with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

Just a short sidebar to the Demon Slayer series. A bit of VooDoo romance. What do you do when your soulmate is a Zombie?

When Amie Baptiste decides to try a love spell for herself, she wants the perfect man for her. That night he appears at her door. He gorgeous, and naked and until very recently, he was dead. It appears her perfect man died about 200 years ago.

But Amie’s not as convinced as Dante that a Happily Every After is meant for them, and he’s not happy when she tries to send him back in his grave.

Dante has three days to convince Amie to give a zombie a chance before its “ashes to ashes” for him.

First of all, in case you were wondering, he is not a “gooey” zombie. Dante comes back all gorgeous and hot and without any “graveyard breath” since the first thing he does in lean in for a make-out session. If this was a common occurrence, more Zombies would be able to move up in the monster genre to leading man status.

This was a nice little short-story, and a break from the usual paranormal vampire/werewolf hero. What makes this one stand out was the addition of Isoke, Amie’s Kongamato (a mythical, pterodactyl-like creature). Isoke is so happy to see Amie dating (zombie or not) he keeps leaving her good luck presents, mostly dead rats. He is delightful and funny.

Although I am usually disappointed by short stories, I found one to be cute and charming and a quick break for the usual fare.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

I have been a fan of Angie Fox for a long time and was super happy when I got this novella as a free download. It was a fun and quick read, I love the characters and the storyline just what I needed for a rainy weekend. Also you do not have to be familiar with the series in order to enjoy this read.

An enjoyable intense romance, the caracters so vibrant. An anchent magical winged creature a man and a voodoo priestess each desperate for love. Angie Fox almost makes you feel as though you are a vouyer, seeing the emotion coming through each caracter yet not but read more. Aquier a copy of "Gentlemen Prefer Voodoo "so you yourself can enjoy reading it as much as I have. 😶☺ Kat

Be careful when casting a spell for the "perfect" man

Fabulous! We all want the perfect man, but we should be careful what we wish for. Especially when casting a spell. A short read but a terrific and complete story. A must have if you loved biker witches.

This was an okay read for Valentine’s Day. It’s really too short for the characters to have any kind of real chemistry with each other. It certainly makes a good outline for what could be a better full-length story.

Cute but short with no real substance for the characters. While I thought he was cute and sweet she just felt shallow with little brain sense, or maybe too much and not enough common sense. But it was a cute light read nothing that would let me see or feel what this writer can do.

I loved this novella. A short and sweet love story set in New Orleans. I felt like I got to know the characters. I would have loved it to be longer, but I don't feel like it needed to be.

This really wasn’t that short a story to me. It had all the makings of a heart-wrenching book that gave the reader a good rollercoaster ride through the life of Amie Baptiste.

Amie is the owner of a voodoo shop that specialized in love. It only makes sense that she is the one most desperately in need of it herself. After a lot of bickering, she finally listens to her mythical pet and works some magic on herself. Somewhere along the line, she ends up wishing for a specific dream man and not just some hypothetical one. Much to her surprise, he shows up naked and sort of a zombie.

Dante is Amie’s dream man, but she is terrified to admit it. He worked some magic after his death to make sure that he could be called back to life by his one true love. It seems pretty clear to him, but it is an uphill battle to convince Amie that they were meant to be. She’s got to take a leap and believe that he will catch her. These two have to really work at their HEA, but it is completely satisfying in the end.

I tend to prefer my zombies be more sci-fi than magic. That said, this was a cute story. The timeline of events seemed unrealistically truncated, but that argument can be made for many short stories. The overall resolution was a little more anti-climactic that I would have liked, and the "why" of the zombie's return didn't really do it for me, but it wasn't an unpleasant read. In a short span of time, Fox made me care about the characters and what happened to them. I was invested in their story (even the little Kongamato who liked to bring dead rats as gifts) and wanted them to find happiness. I also love the setting (New Orleans) and Fox was able to weave the importance of the setting into the story well.

Gentlemen Prefer Voodoo is cute (not in a pejorative sense), clever, funny, and well written. Highly recommend if you have a bit of time to spare.

Duh. I was looking at this title and it was originally in the anthology My Zombie Valentine. One of my fav anthols and this is one of my fav shorts! So funny. Of course you expect to have zombies in a voodoo story... check this out though, a totally different take on it. No more detes, it would totally spoil it. READ IT!!

Charm, wit, and sarcasm - just the way I like it! Amie bites off more than she can chew when she casts a voodoo love spell to bring her perfect man into her life.

A well-written short story to introduce you to characters who have roles in some of Angie's Demon Slayer stories.
