THAT'S THE SPIRIT? A powerful user of magic, with a goat's head? It'd be funny if it weren't trying to slaughter Fairy Tail! Loke has an idea of the wizard's true identity - but while he fights to prove it, Ultear has already reached the sleeping Zeref, and she has plans of her own for the legendary black wizard...
Hiro Mashima (Jap: 真島ヒロ) is a Japanese manga artist.
He gained success with his first serial Rave, published in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from 1999 to 2005. His best-selling work, Fairy Tail, published in the same magazine from 2006 to 2017, became one of the best-selling manga series with over 72 million copies in print. Mashima began the currently ongoing Edens Zero in 2018.
Fairy Tail won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen manga in 2009, and Mashima was given the Harvey Awards International Spotlight award in 2017 and the Fauve Special Award at the 2018 Angoulême International Comics Festival.
It looks like I enjoyed this one! Unfortunately, when I went to read volume 28, I didn't know who half the characters were, or what the situation was that had caused the characters to be separated, and a number of them badly injured. And, what's more, and what made me decide to put the 12 volumes of Fairy Tail I still had on my shelves into the used bookstore box... well... I didn't particularly care, either. Come down to it, there are very few manga of any kind that I can enjoy for more than 20 volumes, and shonen manga has a higher bar to clear than just about anything else, so Fairy Tail lasting 27 volumes before I petered out is pretty extraordinary.
All of the central cast, and a good number of the secondary characters are endearing, and the art is quite good: easy to follow, good character expressions, and extremely consistent. But the fan service was a wee bit too much, and the obviously ad hoc plotting and "high levels of violence with no actual stakes" battle-manga storytelling made everything feel trivial and forgettable. Quite literally forgettable, for me. I guess I'm glad I didn't succumb to an impulse to buy all of Fairy Tail: disposing of a dozen books without making a serious effort to read them is guilt-inducing enough.
***
As is somewhat hinted on the cover, Loke and Juvia both get the spotlight in this volume. Since they're my favorites among the secondary characters, I was happy to see them in action this time around.
Because I'm eight years old, I laughed at the part of the story where Lucy is being affected by the curse doll. Both that and Juvia's section are mildly iffy in the sense that Lucy is being manipulated against her will, and Juvia's true strength only comes out when she feels her crush Gray is in danger. And as usual, both of their parts of the story are just swarming in fan service, including Lucy's shirt getting torn up yet again. That's Fairy Tail for ya. (Fairy Tail keeps Magnolia's economy thriving by continually needing to replace their clothes, never mind Kana's prodigious consumption of the local brews.)

4.5/5 Some more excellent fights and moments in the Tenrou Arc. The highlight for me is the voodoo doll fight involving Natsu, Lucy, and Kain. There's some good story points for Gray, Juvia, Urtear, and Meredy.
I'm also forgetting the volume starts with a decent fight and story sequence for Loki and Caprico.
Still a lot unknown about Zeref but I'm suspecting more reveals soon and hopefully more fun and entertaining fights and fan service.
Juvia, Natsu, Loki, Caprico, and Lucy on the cover of volume 27.
Mest (Doranbalt is his real name?) teleports to the destroyed Council boat Lahar (new arrest and custody council member) is thinking the council will use the Etherion blast again… Loke decides he will take on Caprico by himself Caprico’s magic (human subordination magic) temporarily lowers humans fighting and magic abilities also calls ‘Kings Magic’ Loke transforms into his celestial self- also revealing Caprico is a spirit: Capricorn of the Caprine Palace Capricorn has vanished from the Celestial world for 17 years… Capricorn can summon ‘hero’s’ exactly like Lucy opening celestial gates - he ‘takes’ them- kinda like catching Pokémon. And Capricorn wants to capture Lucy Capricorn knew Layla? And once he figures out Lucy is her daughter, he claims that she cannot live? Capricorn had a contract with Layla 20 years ago, but since Layla passed means Capricorn is owned by Lucy Capricorn can merge himself with other things??? And it’s taboo because he can use it on anything when it is supposed to be only usable on humans He merged into Leo… CAPRICORNS PERVIOUS BODY GETS UP AND ATTACKS LEO- CORN?!! OHHHHHHHHHHH- okay it was a human who merged WITH the celestial spirit Capricorn- when he transferred INTO Leo, Capricorn was able to take over his OWN body again, attack the human IN Leo and bring both celestial spirits back to their OWN bodies. That humans name is Zoldio - when Layla retired magic, she gave Aquarius, Cancer and Capricorn to people in her employment. But had a contract to ‘from now until eternity protect the Heartfelia family’ Capricorn belongs to Lucy. (WOOOO NEW COOL CELESTIAL SPIRIT!) Merudy managed to creat magic swords that could hurt Juvia Natsu finds Ultear, they begin their battle Mira, Gajeel and Evergreen are down and out… Cana gets Lucy’s idea as to where Mavis grave is, when Lucy tells her SHE PUTS HER TO SLEEP??? AND RUNS AWAYYYY?? AND NOW ONE OF THE SEVEN KIN (Kain Hikaru) HAVE FOUND HERRRRRR!!!! Kain uses voodoo- but insanely strong. Defeats Taurus with one physical hit, kicks Sagittarius arrows back at him Depending on what Kain turns his doll too (cotton, steel) depends on his form (as long as his own hair is on the doll) Natsu saves Lucy- AND THEY TEAM UPPPP Kain got some of Lucy’s hair… is forcing Lucy to fight Natsu. HAPPY STOLE THE DOLL! AHAHA THE FIRST THING HE DOES IS SHOVE NATSU’s FACE INTO LUCY’s BOOBS … kain got hold of Lucy, and Natsu is trapped beneath rubble.. but Natsu still has the doll He begins to control Lucy to fight Kain, and gives her fire fists XD making Lucy as ‘dragon slayer’ hehehe Lucy and Natsu vs. Kain - winner = NaLu Grey hides but finds Ultear carrying Zeref, when he looks at her, he confused her for Ur Mest takes the councils communication Lacrima, Merudy has a ranking of priorities of who to kill… grey being number 1. ? Merudy reveals Ur was Ultear mother! Juvia gets up… she’s bad ass (major goosebumps) - her rain is back Juvia is going to show why she was one of Phantom Lords strongest Merudy uses Juvias love for Grey as her linking weapon- making Grey feel whatever Juvia does Merudy connects herself to Juvia to make her feel whatever she dishes out - also whoever does will make Grey die too ‘Dead end of Despair’ MERUDY IS GOING TO JUST KILL HERSELF, SINCE THEYRE LINKED… Flashback: Ultear found Merudy, when she was a baby in the crushed village, raised her as her own sort of daughter. Juvia hugs Merudy… causing her to see she should keep living for her love of Ultear Ultear sees gray following her, and claims she’s on his side and has always wanted to meet him.
So much battle in this volume. Showing the true power of our Fairytail wizards. Many goosebumps during this volume, and borderline tears. Amazing

Here we find out what is really going on with Capricorn and there is a lot of great action as always in this volume. What I really find awesome about this arc is the lesson of friendship to me is the most pure here. I know a lot of people complain about the "friendship is magic" aspect of this series. But I truly LOVE it. Now onto volume 28 :)
Juviahhhhhhhhhhh😭😭😭😭 I love you! Your love for Gray is authentic, and Gray also treats her well but he regards her as a just Nakama... I want them to be a couple! I feel impatient so much😔
I love how right now in the story the people that they are fighting seem unbeatable, but Fairy Tail never gives up they know if they work together they can do anything. They treat eachother as family. There was some boob grabbing and I don't mean by the guys. Of course there was another cliff hanger so I am waiting for the next one to find out how they are going to get out of this situation.
Now that's more like it (ridiculous as some of this magic is - the soul linking stuff for instance felt very contrived). I thought the fights in this book were unusual, but engaging and pretty clever in their execution as well as their setup.and with a lot of characters encountering shadows from their past in this arc, the tension just keeps winding tighter.
The battle to keep an ancient dark wizard from being resurrected continues as the candidates for the S-Ranked wizard exam face off against a guild of dangerously powerful wizards! Mashima is sure to please readers with this emotionally charged entry filled with battles galore. Lucy and her friends will need to think fast on their feet in order to keep up with these nasty opponents!
This will be my full review for this entire series. I already read this comic from volume 1-30. Suppose there 50 volume more of this series but I prefer not to finish it as I don't really like the time-skip idea in this series.
To clarify, I love the idea of time-skip. But, in this series, I really hate it. It make Natsu and other main member weaker. Why make them weaker? I want to see MC progress throughout the series. Then, suddenly become weaker. Not to mention when MC want to win each battle, power of friendship keep coming back each battle.
Furthermore, there are a lot of un-explained things happened in this series. The dots are not connected rather than scattered throughout the series. It just there to fill the plot-hole. Rather than explaining, Mr Hiro keep continuing the series and keep adding new characters each volume.
So, after the time-skip, I determine to stop reading this series. I don't want to ruin my memories of this awesome series. For most part, this series actually had huge potential because of interesting and lovable character, but the plot is keep on damaging this series slowly.
The best way to describe the fighting on the island right now is WWE 3-Way Championship Match! Fairy Tail versus Grimoire Heart versus Zeref the Black Wizard!!! I love when little pieces of knowledge are revealed and Lucy being the daughter of Layla Heartfilia makes for juicy speculations on why this is a revelation as it happens in the book. In true Fairy Tail format you won’t wait long to get the details, but it sure does make for good storytelling and an adventurous ride. Lucy probably pulls off her strongest attacks that she will ever physically deliver in this volume! Rarely do I feel the covers have Easter Egg type things about the story…but this one definitely does! (Happy and Lucy being my favorite) This volume was a joy to read, and I just found the shifting emotions made the book even better. Of course, the last page leaves us begging for more…and would you expect anything less from Hiro Mashima?
The only problem I have with this series is that the Fairy Tail members don’t kill anyone. That doesn’t mean no one dies in this series. People forget that there are some characters who have stayed permanently dead. I do like that some of the characters have been redeemed (like Gajeel).
I forgot how annoyed Ultear used to be.
I really like Julia’s like in the last few chapters. I have wanted to cosplay that version of her ever since I saw these anime episodes but can’t because I don’t feel comfortable with my tummy showing. It’s not because I don’t think I look good enough, it’s just that I don’t want anyone to see my tummy. I still wish I could cosplay her like that. Maybe I still might one day and might just change a few things about it.
Cela attendra.. x)
Y’all my girl Juvia is back to her full power kicking butt and taking names while still proclaiming her love for Gray 😂 Those scenes were probably my favorite in the entire volume. I also loved the seeing Natsu and Lucy diving together again but that voodoo doll fight was really weird and uncomfortable. I’m loving how many volumes this story is covered and I ready to pick up the next one!
I cannot describe how much I adore Juvia and Gray. They are the cutest and the funniest "couple" ever. They are my favourite characters in this manga! GRUVIA forever! I also find the relationship between Gajeel and Panther Lily hilarious.
