“Three children born of an immortal bloodline will wage a battle to control magic. Once the battle is won, peace and balance may return to a world long torn apart.
But only one can win this battle... only one can be victorious.”
A prophecy some have interpreted as serendipitous to their cause... a prophecy some are willing to exploit to its fullest, even to the detriment of all.
A prophecy three immortal children have no choice but to accept, as whether by fate or circumstance, the battle has already begun.
Taken (The Blood Spell, The Fugitives, and The Firemance's Son) Book 6
Book 6, all secrets are tolled. Meghan and Colby are twin, Colin has lean to control his power, and a new fight has started. Which side will win Amelia or Juliska or the Tunkapog or the immortal or Fazend.
I like the series, but the author needed a better editor (if she had one). There are a few grammatical errors that bug me when I stumble across them. They kick me out of the moment
I do like the cast of characters. I think that the plotline is interesting.
But this book didn't quite get there for me. The dialogue seems awkward and rather juvenile. Maybe it's just been too long since I read the last book in this series--because it just didn't flow smoothly for me. I'm not sure if I'll continue, but it was an OK read for me.
Meghan learns Colin is not her twin, and finds out who is. There is much traveling in this episode by all the characters as they prepare for a war. This can be read as a stand alone story, but there is a much richer story if read in the order written. I liked it.
Dropping a star because the author just pulled a star wars "he's my brother" shit on me, but instead of luke and leia being the culprits, it's goddamn leia and han. Yes, the characters with the most chemistry are fucking related. ALSO, the author teased this couple becoming romantic in previous books, only to pull the rug from under me in the last pages, which NOPE & RUDE. Speaking of which, if those two characters were going to be related anyway WHY give us banter and tension and romantic expectations? Maybe this is a luke/leia thing, after all, because george lucas also added incestuous bits to the movie despite his foreknowledge.
The rest of the book is fine, if a little chaotic. Some chapters were really gripping, others less so. There was kind of an anticlimactic but chilling death and some minor, but enjoyable twists along the way (except the siblings bullshit I covered above). Colby grew on me a bit and Juliska, confirming my expectations, was given a backstory which explained her rather evil actions. Catrina and Colin remain the weak link for me, especially the former who has become Colin's unofficial pet, with no other desires than to love and serve him. Even cattawitches, which are actual pets, have more agency and personal validity than her. The writing in this installment was a bit better, although riddled with the same mistakes that any normal proofreading would eliminate. Some scenes were lovely, others awkward. So, baby steps.
Overall, this series is still enjoyavle but the next volume has been slightly ruined for me because of this absolutely terrible siblings reveal. *sigh*
Collin is reunited with uncle Aaron only for he and Caterina to be told they are getting ready to go to war. Meghan goes to meet her mother for the first time only to be whisk away before she can meet her by Colby who is battling to control his new powers his father thrust upon him with out Colby knowledge or consent. Powers that are to powerful for him to understand and control by himself so he seeks Meghan for help. When Meghan is finally released from Colby s grasp she is once again ripped from reuniting with her mother and unconscious Lynda thrown in a war standing besides Collin but by the time Meghan comes to Collin and Caterina are gone but she gets to reunite with her uncle and Jae. Finally Meghan meets her mother and all her questions are answered she now knows the truth. Now they must battle the evil and try to help both Collin and Colby and if they cannot they must find away to destroy them.
Taken, book 6 leads to the discovery of who Meghan's real twin is. Her real twin leads her to their Mother, who is still alive, but they are rushed away before she has a chance to meet. The ending leads to Ivan's true gift....but you will have to read for yourself without me giving it all away.
Another great book in the fated saga series! I really liked the fated saga series. To be honest the first book was just alright but I strongly suggest giving this series a chance. The story gets much better in the rest of the books. I couldn't put Taken down and finished it in 1 day. While the series was written for a younger generation, it is still a great read for adults too. I would recommend this series to fantasy fans and especially if you enjoyed Harry Potter.
Awesome series, each book is a little too short though. This one in the series kept me on the edge of my seat especially with Colin's predicament and how he still has a lot to learn about his powers being the only Project living now (maybe unless the author will throw a curveball at us!) Another great installment!
Great series! Very entertaining. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Although this series is written for the younger generation, readers of all ages can enjoy it and be entertained. I wish the books were longer, but have thoroughly enjoyed them.
Again we are left with a cliff-hanger. ARGH! Wish the author would just put all these little books into one good size book and let it be. Still enjoying the story. Colby is crazy. Colin is afraid. Ivan is flabbergasted. Sebastien is relieved.
