T I Wade was born in Bromley, Kent, England in 1954. His father, a banker was promoted with his International Bank to Africa and the young family moved to Africa in 1956. The author grew up in Southern Rhodesia. Once he had completed his mandatory military commitments, at 21 he left Africa to mature in Europe. He enjoyed Europe and lived in three countries; England, Germany and Portugal for 15 years before returning to Africa; Cape Town in 1989. Here the author owned and ran a restaurant, a coffee manufacturing and retail business, flew a Cessna 210 around desolate southern Africa and finally got married in 1992. Due to the upheavals of the political turmoil in South Africa, the Wade family of three moved to the United States in 1996. Park City, Utah was where his writing career began. To date T I Wade has written sixteen novels.
I love this series and I can't wait for book 3 to come out. The only reason that I didn't rate it 5 stars is because of the editing which is really bad in parts.
That said, if you can forgive editing, the story and characters are fantastic. The author reminds me of Stephen King in the Stand with his huge cast of 3 dimensional characters in a dystopian America.. The only poorly developed character is the main villain who is so 1 dimensional that he isn't even believable.
The battle scenes are descriptive and very easy to follow in a Tom Clancy way.
This book is never going to win awards but it would make one hell of a movie!
A great next book that takes place directly following the first. I enjoyed it very much and thought it was a very analytical approach to the whole "end of world" scenario.
No plot spoilers No potential triggers There are numerous errors of the most basic and irritating kind, but they don't kill the book. The characterisation is one dimensional, but in all honesty the book has that many interconnecting characters it would be impossible to provide them all with believable characters and motivators. What is disappointing is that the main characters don't have much of a personality either. It still doesn't kill the book. There are no sex scenes and only a little swearing. There are some graphic violence scenes. The book a a bit stilted at times and there is a lot of repetition regarding the weapons and armaments utilised, not to mention the various planes and their intricate descriptors. Still couldn't put the book down. I was confounded to realise I was a bit upset at the death of one of the characters, I didn't think I was that invested, but apparently I was. It's a tall tale, with more than a touch of racism and misogyny, but I am still going to purchase the next book in the series. If you are a fan of the genre you would probably enjoy the series.
This is a must read series. I have read it and the America One series about 10 times and I read something that I missed when reading these series. I wish a television series of these books could be done.
Fast action paced read. It's something you can actually imagine happening... Great read. Great story Really looking forward to reading the next instalment.
After a pretty good and understandably slower first book, the second in the Invasion USA series is loaded with action. The book starts off just after Zedong Electronics shuts down all of the electronics in the world. Key survivors in the U.S. rally together to plan a counterattack and defense. It's an exciting book with many thrilling moments. The one slight negative I have is that everything goes near perfect for the good guys. I'm certainly happy to see the protagonists succeed, but I wasn't too anxious after a while when it seemed everything was going their way. Regardless, I really enjoyed it.
This book is more of the same editing nightmare (missing words, extra words, wrong words, unreal conversations, etc), but with the added annoyance of Kindle formatting problems. The editor was out to lunch with the Kindle formatter. I was used to all the editing problems by now, but the lack of good Kindle formatting did it for me. New paragraphs would start in the middle of a sentence. Sometimes they wouldn't start at all and one person's dialog would be tacked on the end of another. I spent a good deal of time trying to sort out who said what. That pushed me over the edge. Luckily, the book ends on enough of a note that I just wrote the next two books off.
The survivors find more old airplanes and vehicles that are usable. They begin preparations for an expected invasion. The details of the preparation and conflicts are so explicit that it is really believable. I still consider it one of the best apocalyptic books I have ever read. Ready to begin the next book.
Further to the review on the first book, this is where the plot thickens and things get interesting. I found this to be a great read. following on from where the first left off, the action kicks off fast and maintains that pace the whole way through. Certain parts of the storyline tie in to make it a partly plausible story which in turn makes a great read. ive read the entire series as a result.
I was excited to read this because I am from New York and although their were one or two geographical gaffes, I didn't care. Book 1, was the first book I ever read on my Kindle and will finish the series. Loved the story and characters. A decent read.
