I've always loved books, especially about monsters and magic, so I started writing. I'm working on a prequel and the next few books in the Others of Edenton series, and I have a head full of stories to share.

I'm a stay at home mother with a wonderful husband who lets me write and write to my hearts content.

Let me start by saying that I haven't actually read the first book in this series, but I have a friend *cough* Tarnya *cough* who has been telling me for months now how amazing Brandy's writing is! My friend told me that Brandy would give me a copy of Shadows Fall if I would like to read it and I'll admit that I was a little apprehensive at first as it's not the typical sort of book that I would normally read! I'm so happy I said yes though! This novella was amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed it! I liked how different and original it was as well! You also don't have to have read the other books in the series to read this novella, but I think it would help if you do! The plot of this novella was fast-paced and it I read it in about half an hour! It definitely exceed my expectations! I thought the whole idea of the plot was written brilliantly and I understood it all! The characters were also amazing! Amethyst "Ame" was the main character and I loved her! I connected really well with her and I loved her personality! During this book you get a glimmer of what she's like, so I'm looking forward to reading more from her as the main character! I also found that she was a very strong character and I liked that she had regret for her actions! There wasn't a love interest for Ame in this book! Only a sort of creepy stalker lol! His name was Carl and he would have freaked me out if he had followed me like he did with Ame! I couldn't believe when he did to try and make Ame his! I really disliked him! It was interesting though to read some scenes of this novella from his point of view! I thought that it definitely added to the story and it made it more intense! I think that maybe a real love interest for Ame will maybe happen in another book in this series! I would love for a bit of romance for her! There were some others characters in this book that I think probably played bigger roles in the first book and because I haven't read the first book I did find it a little hard to place them! I could still understand the story though! After reading this novella I will definitely be reading the first book in the series and checking out the next book in the series as well! I'm also really looking forward to reading the next book of Amethyst's story! The cover for Shadows Fall is really pretty! I'm a fan of it and I think the models suit the characters and also the plot! Big thank you to Brandy for a copy of Shadows Fall!

Let me start off by saying the author of this book, Brandy L. Rivers, is an amazing author! Her writing is so creative and captivating, you can't help but get stuck in her books for hours! If you like fast paced stories with characters you can relate to, you would love this book and all of this authors books!

This story is about Amethyst Lakes, who is an nymph, and is Fallon's best friend. We read about Fallon's character in book one, but this book is about her best friend, Amethyst, who has a serious problem on her hands. Her ex-boyfriend, Carl, is stalking her,and he will do anything, and I mean anything, to be with her again. Amethyst wishes he would go away and leave her alone, but her ex has other plans. Carl feels as if his heart is breaking without her. He thinks that if he creates a situation where she will need him, she will realize how much she needs him in her life and come back to him. But with the help of Amethyst's teenage crush, she will find it within herself to deal with Carl once and for all. Will Amethyst succeed in making Carl leave her alone?

I loved this book a lot! It was amazing! I love paranormal books and this was an awesome one! If you haven't read any books by this author yet, I recommend you do so! I recommended this book to everyone!

I got this book from LoP, in exchange for an honest review

Shadows Fall is the prequel to Shadows of the Past, Amethyst and Hayden’s novel. Shadows Fall is a short story, which tells us why Amethyst decided to pack her bags and move to Edenton.

Amethyst Lake a nymph is being plagued by her warlock stalker ex-boyfriend, Carl, who can’t take no for an answer. Carl is obsessed with her. He is smothering her and no matter how she tries to explain to him, he is not willing to keep his distance.

Carl will do anything to keep Amethyst despite her protests. He goes on to take an extreme step, which could prove to be dangerous for Amethyst. There is only one way Amethyst can make sure he stays away, but she is reluctant to dot it. But in the end, she finally gathers the courage to do what it takes to keep her safe.

Shadows Fall is a well written story, which explains why Amethyst decides to make the move to Edenton. Amethyst is as gutsy as Jess or Fallon, but when the time comes, she can hold her own. This story, definitely makes me curious to find out more about Ame and her life in Edenton.

Amethyst is a nymph, and as the author says, she has a problem. She sure does. I don't know how the heck Rivers managed to pack so much into so few pages. I've just learned that the number of pages doesn't have anything to do with the punch a story can pack.

Amethyst is tired of being with Carl. She doesn't love him, but he's desperate to keep her. Desperation can drive a man to do stupid things. He goes to the Silver Council and claims to be fairy struck in hopes she will realize she needs him as much as he needs her. Having friends in high places is a good thing to have, especially if you're a nymph in over your head.

She calls Fallon, who is a good friend about moving to Edenton. There's not much I can say without spoilers. How about it makes a lot of sense to have this book in the series. This story perfectly sets up the events in the next book. I'll keep it short and sweet. If you liked/loved the first two, you will this one also. It's non-stop and definitely worth reading.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another bite of River's Others of Edenton and I cant get enough. This Novelette sets up Shadows of the Past and gives us some insight into Amethyst's past and gives us a little of Preston who we meet briefly in In Too Deep and a character I am excited to see more of.

Amethyst has had a rough time with her ex and we get to understand her and some of what being one of River's Nymphs means. I loved the story and it only makes me want October to come faster so I can get my hands on all of Amethyst story.

I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review.

I LOVED this book.
In this book we meet Amethyst who is being stalked by her ex Carl.
As she decides to make herself a new life in Edenton with Jess, Fallon, Jamie and Slater's pack!
Carl however is not willing to let her go so easy and lies about her to the Silver Council an after she is freed from there he then turns to invoking "The Shadows" after Amethyst compels him to leave her alone.
This was a great little fix whilst waiting to read Shadow's of the Past!!!

This was an awesome short story as we join Amethyst at the beginning of a misguided plot to get her to submit to her ex-boyfriend & stalker Carl. The synopsis explains it clearly and we get to meet a couple of people we are already aware of and a couple of new people. This is the catalyst that will bring Amethyst to Edenton and hopefully into the arms of her own hottie. It’s nice to get a bit of background on a character whose book will be coming up in the series, it helps us to understand more about her and what she is & does and what happens when things go wrong because of what she is. It has also set up some possible relationships and enemies. I usually moan about shorts not being enough and not being able to connect to the characters but that is not a problem here, I definitely felt for our character and her predicament. I think I would view this as more of a teaser to the book than anything else but what a teaser it was and in the space of 30 pages we have an infatuated stalker, a threat that could have disastrous consequences, an ally in the form of a former crush, a mage with power on his mind, one scared nymph who is left with no other option than to use her powers to aid her exit and let’s not forget, there’s even room for a little sexy time , plus we get to see the authorities for the supernatural in action. It has definitely whet my appetite for more, I love this series and I will take anything it offers with glee. Can’t wait for the next book.

I was given this book by the Author to give a truthful review.

This book is a short story that gives you some insight into Amethyst, a Nymph, past and sets you up for the next book Shadows of the Past. Oh and you get to see a little more of Preston which I like seeing this softer more caring side of him, because he was kind of a cocky ass toward Fallon in In Too Deep. Although I really liked Jess and Fallon’s tough girl attitudes, I really liked Ame too. She is so sweet and you can tell she does not like to use her powers. It makes her feel cheap and dirty when she uses them. At the same time you can see Amethyst has some spunk to her when she is pushed far enough. This is one of my favorite few lines in the book that shows that when she is trying to get Carl to leave.

“No. You need to get a grip on reality, and leave. We’re done. I can’t do it anymore. You said you would give me whatever I wanted. Well, what I want is for you to leave.”

Carl, Ame ex-boyfriend, is a manipulative warlock that can’t take no for an answer and doesn’t know when he is no longer wanted. In the end of this book he sets into motion a whole mess of things and I cannot wait to see what happens and how everything ends up in Shadows of the Past.

This was a great short story and a great way to introduce and get readers excited about the next book. Just enough back ground to get to know each person and enough of a tease to want more. I can’t wait tell November to read the rest of this story. This gets a 5 star rating from me.

I love Brandy L. Rivers' writing and I always look forward to diving into her books. Shadows Fall is an awesome addition to the series, Others of Edenton. It is short while giving you a great peek at Amethyst and a little bit of a certain mage ;)

When the series began back with In Too Deep, we where briefly introduced to a Nymph with purple hair and from the moment she popped onto the pages I knew I was going to want to know more about her. Well, here she is and we finally get to learn about what leads her to Edenton - the greatest town ever by the way :)

When Amethyst tries to break up with her boyfriend Carl, he just will not listen and leave her alone. After one to many times of trying to get her back and failing he decides that he is going to report her to the Silver Council, which would probably be the equivalant of the supernatural police force, for a crime she didn't commit in a last ditch effort to get her back. What proceeds from there is an interesting story that introduces us to this world and to Amethyst herself, it sucks you in and gets you ready for the next book.

It was a nice taste of what is to come for Amethyst. With a great begining and well done ending that leaves me with some questions that I can't wait to have answered in Shadows of the Past. If you've read the previous books you'll want to read this one but if you are new to this series it is a nice stand alone novella, it will give you a taste and then you'll be hooked just like me :)

Amethyst is a purple-haired, “bright and bubbly” nymph. Her ex has decided he will stop at nothing to get her back, including having her brought up on false charges in front of the Silver Council. Enter Preston, friend mage and rescuer. Now Amethyst must come to terms with having to find a way to be free from her ex’s attentions.

Shadows Fall by Brandy L. Rivers is a delightfully clever novella in the Others of Edenton series. Ms. Rivers sprinkles her characters with magic "they-feel-real" dust and gives them a world to live in that fits them perfectly! More of a tease than a tale, this short read is a great addition in the Others of Edenton line up, giving Ame her due time in the limelight!

Quick, light and easy, entertainment escape, kind of like a quick pick-me-up!

Fairy Struck! Loved it ;) Third book in the Others of Edenton series - Shadows Fall #1.5. Is a great lunch time read! Even without reading the first two books you could get a quick glimpse into the style and setting of the books. Lots of paranormal creatures (nymphs, mages, warlocks, vampires, werewolves, etc) in normal society governed by the Silver Council. And now a quick glimpse into the story...

Amethyst is over Carl, but she just can't get rid of him. He is stalking her, breaking into her house, anything to spend time with her and convince her to take him back. She could easily get him to leave using her powers, but she doesn't want to use him like that... what is she to do? Carl takes the problem out of her hands by reporting her to the Silver Council. She is "jailed" for several weeks before charges are dropped. Now she has to decide what to do next - how will she get rid of him? and what will she do next? Give this book a try to meet the purple haired fairy nymph who will star in the next book!

Favorite Passage: "...Are you two lovers?" She felt the blood rush to her face and knew she blushed furiously. "No. Definitely not. I'm too young." Amethyst signed, remembering her embarrassment when he told her that a decade before. "Besides, he was involved with my mother years before she had me. So that would be awkward."

Up next - Shadows of the Past - where we get the rest of Amethyst's story!

My Review:
For a novella, this book really pack a punch. It is book 1.5 in the series and I cannot wait for the next book. This book gives us the pre-story of Amethyst and what led her to flee to Edenton. In this novella we meet Amethyst and her crazy ex Carl.

Amethyst is quite the character. I really enjoyed her personality and have an inkling she may be a new favorite for me. She is a Nymph and it's not something she likes to admit. She doesn't like her powers and doesn't want to use them to rid herself of Carl, even when it seems as there are no other options. I love a characters that sticks to her beliefs and she is one of them.

Carl throws some very scary and very large curve balls at her when all she is trying to do it an a relationship that is meaningless. To her that is. To Carl, she is ending everything that matters to him.

This is a nice story that sets you up for the 3rd book in the series. Shadows of the Past. It really gives you enough to get you really hooked on these new characters. I can't wait to see where brandy takes us on this next ride.

I was lucky to be offered the chance to read this by the author in exchange for an honest review . I am just blown away by how much Ms. Rivers has managed to cram in! I have read the previous two books in this series which really captured my imagination and thought that a short novella would be sadly lacking. How very wrong was I . I absolutely loved it .
Amethyst is a nymph with the boyfriend from hell. He's possessive , clingy and above all else not to be trusted. She has realised that they are wrong for each other but he won't take no for an answer. Carl is not afraid to be manipulative in order to get what he wants and sets Amathyst up in a truly diabolical manner. She's a sweet girl who doesn't want to abuse her powers in order to save herself and proves that she has grit and determination and won't give in to those who mean her harm.
This is short but so much goes on in this tale. We meet characters that are written with heart. I actually care what happens to Amethyst next and can't help but wonder what's coming up for all these compelling characters.
If you enjoy escaping then join the residents of Edenton soon as their world is truly magical. Nymphs, werewolves, druids, sirens, mages and more all vie for attention and I for one wish I could join them. Alas the next book(full length) isn't available yet but it's definitely going on my to be read pile.
I am very happy to rate this a 5

While definitely short, this story gives us a great peek into Amethyst's head and sets up her move to Edenton (in book 2) where she will undoubtedly get tangled up in trouble and romance. Frankly, after what she went through in this book, she deserves the romance part.

While her incarceration was bad (especially since she had done nothing to warrant it), it was the way everyone was pushing her to use her magic on Carl to get rid of him that got me. Since her options were stuck between bad and worse, Amethyst had a very tough decision to make as to how she wanted him dealt with. She could do the very thing she'd been accused of and use her power against him (although it was to make him lose interest, not to enthrall) or she could let her well-meaning friends kill him and get rid of in a very permanent sense.

Poor Amethyst is a wreck by the time this story ends. It'll be very interesting to see how she pulls herself out of her despair over what she had to do.

Again, this is a teaser/set-up for book 2, so don't expect all the issues to be resolved. If you've picked up any of the previous books (and you should because they're very captivating!) and you're chomping at the bit for book 2, pick this one up.

In this novella, we are provided with insight into who Amethyst is before she moves to Edenton to join her friends Fallon and Jess.

Amethyst is a nymph. Her warlock ex-boyfriend, Carl, is stalking her. He'll do anything to make her return to him, including lying to the Silver Council. Her mother and her best friend keep reminding her that she has the power to make Carl go away, but the cure may be worse than the "curse."
Amethyst is a sweetie with a big heart and unusual powers. I am looking forwarding to reading about her arrival in Edenton. Haydon isn't going to know what hit him!

I freaking love this series! Ms. Rivers had given me the first two books for review, so I knew when this one released, I wanted it right away. Now I know I'll be one-clicking again in November! I have about a million questions, but I'll be good and wait (no, really, I will wait, but I did not say I would wait patiently!)

Recommended for: 18+, adult situations

Grammar/editing: A – near perfect

Other books in the series:
1. New Beginnings (Book 1)
2. In Too Deep (Prequel)
3. Shadows Fall (Book 1.5)
4. Shadows of the Past (Book 2/November 2013 )

I love, love, love this series! I am so glad I read In Too Deep in May because it got me hooked on Ms. Brandy and her books! The characters in this series are fully developed and so touchable.

This Novelette is about Amethyst Lakes, nymph, with an ex-boyfriend problem. And, he can't take the hint that it is OVER! Carl Umbra thinks he needs Amethyst more than air, but he is so wrong.

He does the worst thing he could do to her... Turns her into the Silver Council for for being fairy stuck. To make matters even worse, Javis, a Mage with a horrible reputation, is in charge of the investigation...

Three men break into her house to pick her up and drag her to the fan. One of the men starting question her and knows her mom. Which in turns knows that Preston knows her and her mom and makes contact for him to stop Jarvis from questioning her.

Soooo much drama. Preston almost doesn't make it back in time and Amethyst isn't released immediately. And what she does to get Carl to stop thinking about her is mmmm :)

I love Preston is this novelette. He actually was a nice guy. I am So ready for book #2! I cant' wait to read Ame's full story!!!

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review!

I am having a hard time deciding if these ladies are just unlucky or they just attracted crazy egotistical controlling nut jobs! I am thinking it's a little bit of both! The moral I think is move to Edenton before its too late!

Amethyst is a nymph that is having major issues getting rid of her psychopathic ex, she has the magical ability to compel him away but to do that would compromise her morals in ways she doesn't think she can live with! She has to figure out what to do before he ruins her life for good!

Brandy L. Rivers has done it again! This is a short story that bridges the gap between In To Deep and Shadows of the Past! As short as this is, it grips you right away and gives you a small window of insight into the mind of a character we don't know much about yet! Rivers has me spellbound and dying to read more about the many different people of Edenton!

This is a great introduction to Amethyst's life.
As a nymph she's already labeled as something as she isn't, accused of things she didn't do, and ends up having to do the one thing she wishes she didn't have to do at all. All because of a guy!
The detailing in this book is so good, that even though the story is so short, you feel, see, and experience everything Amethyst does. I really enjoyed this little tidbit and can't wait to read Shadows of the Past.

Shadows Fall
Others of Edenton #1.5

I love this series, and Shadows Fall acts as a little fix whilst I'm waiting for Shadows of the Past to be released. I can't imagine being stalked is any fun, but what Amethyst has to do to get Carl to leave her alone would be even worse. Unfortunately, Carl is a low life and willing to do anything to get Amethyst back, including reporting her to the Silver Council for something she didn't do - thankfully Preston is on hand to help her out. This book leads you up to Amethyst moving to Edenton. Vividly descriptive and well written, I got to feel everything Amethyst went through and it easily drew me in completely.

This novelette gives you just enough to leave you wanting so much more from Amethyst's story, and the next book in the series cannot come quick enough. This could be read on its own, as an opening to the series, and would allow the reader to easily see the writing style of the author before reading either The Beginnings or In Too Deep.

I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Yep it's no secret that half the time I don't read a series in order so why should this time be different. Although this gives us a little background info on how Ame came to Edenton and is really short I always think background information is important it allows us to get a better feel for our characters and the story that's about to come so of course I would say READ THIS! Carl I didn't like him from the beginning, "the ugly smirk on his face faded into a mask of pain. She almost felt bad, but she knew he would smother her if she let him stay. He wanted to control her, to dictate every detail of her life. The only way to stop that from happening was to get rid of him." Sweet Lord in Heaven I love me some Preston, "no, Jarvis. She won't do as you ask because you've been reassigned." Preston Snarled." You go boy! He's a loving guy, and caring, "anger darkened his eyes. "I'll find out what I can." When he looked down, his expression softened. "You're okay though? Nothing happened that shouldn't have?"

A beautiful Nymph called Amethyst,
Tries her damn best to get away from her ex boyfriend Carl! who is a loose cannon, obsessed by her beauty and gets it in his thick head she is the one for him and if he can't have now else can.
Carl won't leave Ame alone! she don't want to harm him or use her powers to force him away, but in saying so his constant stalking her has turned her gut like a knifes blade, all she wants is to be left alone!
Taken by the Silver Council for using her powers to inflict harm, Ame didn't know what to do until her trusted silver council friend shows up to prove her innocents.
I love the short story which leads up to Ame's life which you will find out more in Shadows of the Past which I can't wait to dig my eye balls into!!!
I love all of BLR's books they know me off my feet leaving me aching in places I dare not speak lol her books leave me a HWAT MESS which I hate to admit that I have a love hate relationship with each of her characters lol.

Keep up the great work

I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review. Amethyst is a sweet person, and also a Nymph. Her ex-boyfreind Carl is having a hard time letting go of Amethyst. He wants her, and only her. When she says no, he takes things too far and Amethyst is the one who ends up paying for it. Even while Amethyst is cooling her heels, she has one friend looking out for her. Before Carl took things out of her hands, she had already made the decision to relocate to Edenton. Being a Nymph means Amathyst can use her magic to make you do pretty much anything. But just because she CAN do that doesn't mean she wants to. What Carl does only reinforces her decision to go to Edenton. Brandy does it again with a short novella in her 'Others of Edenton' series. She keeps coming up with these utterly fantastic complex characters! Brandy's writing is fantastic, creative, sexy and imaginative. I just love the world she has created in her series about Edenton. I'd love to visit there!

Shadows Fall is only a short story by Brandy L. Rivers, but it gives you a good idea of the background of one of the characters in the other books.

As I have been reading the other stories also, it fitted nicely in there, with just enough information and action to make it interesting to read in one go!

I wouldn't advice this book to someone that didn't know about the series, it could feel too much as a short introduction to something that would follow. I would personally have left the last sentences out of the story ("Curious about what's going to happen to Amethyst? The story will continue in Shadows of the Past, Others of Edenton: Book two), as this made it feel too much like you really have to read the book that's not published yet, even though this story goes very well as stand-alone!

ps. I received a free copy of this story from the author, this has in no way influence the outcome of this text!
August 16, 2013
I actually loved this story! It is a short story about Amethyst, who is being seriously stalked. I have heard of bad breakups, but jesus, this takes the cake. Carl, her ex, is very twisted and obsessed, in a crazy scary way.

Ame isn't sure what to do, so she calls her friend Fallon and sees about moving to Edenton. Fallon, being the rock star she is, of course tells her to come up. But first Ame has to deal with the unpleasant Jarvis, after Carl makes a false report about Ame seducing him with her magic.

Ame's former (or not so much) crush, Preston, helps her out and they hatch a plan to make Carl go away for good. The plan is heartbreaking and I have to admit, I cried with Ame. A shocking ending that will be further explored in the next novel finish this amazing novella out.

I love Brandy's work, this one was very emotional for me.

I give it 5 novella lipsticks!

A pretty nymph and a stalker ex-boyfriend, what could possibly go wrong? And the only way to break the spell? Read it and see...

Amethyst is a truly likeable character. From start to finish, I appreciated her integrity to not only herself but her creepy ex boyfriend Carl--even though he clearly doesn't deserve it! She cares for him, in a non sexual way, and doesn't want to hurt him, but when he takes things too far she has no choice but to get out her sexy nymph side and lay her trap. The characters were all well thought out and believable, and i can't wait to read more about them all.

This isn't the first in the series, but in all honesty, it wasn't hard to follow or understand, and could easily be read as a stand alone book. If you like the supernatural, you'll like this.

I was given this ebook free for an honest review.
I am always excited to see a new book from Brandy L. Rivers! This one hasn't disappointed!
I LOVE it! Brandy has a way of making you feel like you are really emotionally vetted in the story. I literally can't stop once I start reading!
In this short piece we get to meet Amethyst, and learn about her particular situation. She find herself in a tough spot because she refuses to use her magic against someone who is taking advantage of and hurting her. Amethyst ends up getting help from unlikely sources.
I won't ruin too much of the story for you, because I want you to go read it for yourself!
I love how Brandy is able to connect and weave the story lines from all of the books together without loosing the flow of interest.

In this novelette, we're re-introduced to Amethyst who has been put into a rather sticky situation. She's no longer in love with her ex-boyfriend who still seems to be head over heels for her & he's hell bent on making her his once again. There are 2 not so simple methods of fixing this situation, neither of which our little Nymph is comfortable with.

For a novelette it sure is action packed! It's well written (as you can always expect with Ms. Rivers) and it will immediately drawn you into this elaborately constructed world. Shadows Fall is an awesome segue between In Too Deep and Shadows of The Past. It actually might be helpful to read it before In Too Deep.

I loved having this insight into Amethyst's life and look forward to learning more about her in Shadows of The Past!

Amethyst Lakes is a nymph with a problem
Ame has or had a boyfriend a warlock named Carl who was slightly unhinged and was smothering Ame unfortunately Ami tried to take the noble way out of the relationship and not use her magic to repell him.

He went to the Silver Council and said that he was fairy struck. The Council brought Ame in and well Preston saved the day. I despised Preston while reading "In too deep" but in this novella he grew on me so much that I want him to have a book.
In the end Ame ended up doing what had to be done but Carl had one more trick up his sleeve.
I can't wait for Hayden the big oath of a Earth Fae and Ame to get it on.

I've had Shadows Fall in my Kindle library for a while now, and having just read it, I'm sorry I waited so long! This was a great short story! I was really frustrated when it ended, but thankfully the story continues in Shadows Past, which I am already halfway through! Rivers continues to surprise and impress me with her originality and writing skills. As an avid reader I can honestly say you don't have to worry if'll be worth your time. You'll definitely be left wanting more!
