I enjoyed this one more then the first version. For me it got back to the roots that make the show so enjoyable. It had a nice balance between the Simpsons family and the town people. I still don't recommend these if you don't like the show. But if you do. Then pick this up. Also you don't really need to read the first one to understand what was going on in this part of the book.
Volume two includes these comic books: Radioactive Man #100. Simpsons Comics 154, 163, 169, 180. Simpsons Super Spectacular #3 & #8. The Simpsons Summer Shindig #3 & #4 & #6.
The laughs continue in Simpsons Comics: Colossal Compendium – Volume Two, another best of collection from the Bongo comic series. Featuring 10 stories (depending how you count them), Homer must once again save the plant from a nuclear meltdown, Lisa investigates the case of a stolen ice cream truck, Moe invents a new beer flavored donut, and Bartman faced his greatest enemy, himself from the future. Also included is a full-length Radioactive Man comic: issue #100 where Radioactive Man fights a robot from the future that comes from the past. With the exception of one or two segments, the artwork is really good; up to the quality of the television show. And the comedy is really well-written, playing to each of the character’s quirks and eccentricities. Hilariously entertaining from start to finish, Simpsons Comics: Colossal Compendium – Volume Two is a wonderful treat for Simpsons fans (if any).
Another good compilation of funny Simpsons comics. Some were better than other - both in terms of story and art - but overall a fun read.
The bulk of the compendium was taken up by an actual Radioactive Man comic (RM #100) which I thought was a neat idea! It skewed a little long and wordy but a fun idea on the whole.
My favs were probably the CSI Ice Cream, Bartman Beyond and the Bart doppelgänger.
The comics are as good and fun as watching the show. Most of the lead characters have a segment. Loved Bart’s story at the end of the compendium. You not only read but visualize and imagine the voices of all characters turning out to be a great Brain exercise.
