Adventure, survival, weapons, loyalty and romance…
They came from an unknown location within the distant constellation Draco. The strange soldiers had been sent to the third planet with orders to eradicate the indigenous population while leaving its valuable infrastructure intact, paving the way for mass colonization.
In the aftermath of near genocide, Allie Spencer felt like a fraction of her former self with nothing left but a tangle of terrible emotions to deal with. It’s hard to wrap your mind around losing just about everyone you know and love within the span of a few short hours.
Allie and her brilliant friend Nathan McCaffrey were barely teenagers when they sought refuge with Sector Three. Under the tough leadership of nineteen-year-old Henry Reynolds, the group learned to leverage their strengths. They adopted a strict military lifestyle, studied survival techniques and learned how to use weapons. Determined to live, the members of Sector Three formed a deep unshakable bond. They had few resources and were grossly outnumbered and outgunned, yet by adapting their minds to think like the enemy the ragtag group became so much more than the sum of their parts.
Underestimating the young humans from Sector Three could prove to be a fatal mistake…

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. ***Actual rating 4.5***
WOW! I am so thrilled. I never expected a R4R to be this good. I admit I have never read a science fiction novel before, and I LOVED IT! I am actually going to buy a hard copy .. :-)
Aliens, known as Draco, have taken over earth. As soon as they arrived they wiped out the majority of the human population. I'm sure they weren't expecting a 16 year old boy named Nathan to screw up their plan. There is a resistance against the Draco, and through-out the novel the Draco's plans to destroy humanity get kicked in the a**!
There is love, loss, action and adventure in this story! First of all... This cover is BEAUTIFUL! I love it. I cannot wait for the next book! I am so excited! The reason I gave this novel 4.5 stars instead of 5 is because of the timing in the storyline. It wasn't horrible, but one second Allie, the main character, was 14, then 15, then 16 and then 17. The writer still made the story flow nicely though! I enjoyed it immensely! :-) I loved the characters and I LOVED the imagery! I can't wait to see where the writer takes us next.
Eye of the Draco: Darkfall has to be one of the best science fiction novels I have read in an incredibly long time. Kadin Seton is a highly talented writer who knows how to handle a cast of young characters properly, and without making them seem like a bunch of goofy kids. The situation feels serious, it feels real. So many books lack that nowadays and I find it's a very important quality, because if the story doesn't feel real, I start to lose interest.
Overall, this book was just a breath of fresh air. A somewhat different take on an alien invasions I'm used to reading about, an absolutely wonderful cast of characters you get attached to super fast. good pacing, and easy to read with just the right amount of science-y goodness.
Eagerly awaiting the release of the next installment of the series!
Not bad. This book made me realize just how much I prefer stories that begin before the SHTF. Pre-shit story beginnings give us a chance to experience the calm before the storm, meet characters under less exceptional circumstances, and give us something to compare the "after" to for greater contrast. That said, I know not all books can start there, for various reasons, and I understand why this one didn't. Still, it does factor in to how much I enjoy a story such as this one.
This got more interesting as it went along, but it took me a good 30-some % before I developed much interest. It starts out with a lot of action, and much of the story focuses on action. I like books with action, but would have liked a little more time getting to know the players in this story. Besides Allie, and Nathan slightly, we really only get to see outlines of everyone else and know very little about what they are like as people.
Overall, not bad, though I don't think it's going to stick with me.
GERTIE GAUGE: Thinking about book while not reading it: A little bit here and there. I didn't have any of those moments of eagerly looking forward to picking it up, but I also didn't dread it. Characters worth rooting for: Yeah, they're pretty cool. Suspension of disbelief: Despite aliens and teenage soldiers, I didn't roll my eyes, so this worked. Emotional engagement: A little bit, but I wasn't terribly attached to anyone. Mental engagement: Not really, didn't make me ponder anything. Memorability factor: 5/10 I just don't think there was anything that made this stand out in such a way that it will be easy for me to remember later. Quality of writing: Worked for me! Elevator one-liner: Teen soldiers fighting alien invaders. Laugh/cry/react: I don't recall any moments that really got to me. Cliffhanger: Yes. The book ended a little on a whimper (I mean just the last paragraph, which I think should always have a certain punch to it) but it didn't leave everything unresolved, so I wasn't totally annoyed with the cliffhanger. Romance: Yes. It wasn't annoying and probably added to the story. I see the standard triangle happening in the second one though. Errors: Very nice, I hardly marked anything at all. Follow this author? Case by case, will see what else is out there. The lack of fleshed out characters concerns me, as that is probably just the author's style and likely to pervade all of his writing. We'll see.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.
I've been dying to read this book when it first came out and now that I have all I can say is holy heck! This was simply phenomenal in every way, shape and form. This was such an outstanding sci-fi novel with so many awesome characters and the detail put into this story was mind-blowing. I felt sucked into the world immediately. The post-apocalyptic feel was just an add on to how this story made me feel.
I love how the main character Allie grew as the story went on from age 14 to 17. It did get a bit confusing, but once I was able to understand the difference it flowed and made so much sense. Allie was just a very interesting character and I thoroughly enjoyed her and all the other characters. The Draco are Aliens who have taken over earth and want annihilate humankind. Thanks to a kickass resistance against them their plans get stopped. I can't lie…the Draco definitely kept me interested. One minute I liked them and the next I hated them.
Kadin Seton is simply phenomenal in her writing style. The way she takes this alien invasion and makes it fun with each aspect, yet life threatening was simply outstanding. I have never read an alien invasion book, even though I have many on my list, but this has definitely spiked my interest. I definitely plan to read any books that Kadin Seton writes because I'm sure she blow me away with her impeccable writing style.
That ending, by the way, was such a killer -- I need more! Five star rating all the way!
Do you know that feeling when you try a food you have never tasted before? That moment when all your nerves are on end and you don't know what to expect? Will it taste absolutely horrible, or will it be the most delicious meal I have had in my life?
This is how I feel about reading books by any new, debut author or an author whose books I am reading for the first time. Usually I am a teensy bit disappointed. The dish may taste alright but may not satisfy the hunger I crave. This is definitely not the case with 'Darkfall.'
Kadin skilfully crafts the plot to an extent where I am left bewildered and hungry, so hungry to take a bigger bite of this dystopian novel and satisfy my hunger for a book that finally does what its meant to; entertain. I not only was mesmerised by the amazing use of language, ideas and futuristic technologies in the text, I was also very heavily entranced by my own appreciation of the characters and their own development from young teens to adolescents on their path to adulthood. I felt their pain, their sorrow and despair and I laughed and giggled at the good times peppered in 'Darkfall.' This novel is definitely one that will sky rocket on the bestsellers list as more people hear of its magnificent storyline and characterisation.
Kadin Seton is an author you should definitely look out for, because with talent like that she is bound to make her mark on the world of Literature and the dystopian genre. I can't wait for the next novel in the series to come out, the suspense is deadly! :D
*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
So I have a question. How in the world is this book not already insanely popular? I should be fighting people in Waterstones to get the last copy.
THIS BOOK IS PURE AWESOME.
I cannot get over that fact that I’m only something like the 35th person on this site to read this book. This book should be getting a Hunger Games amount of buzz. Honestly, people should be debating which is better, The Host or this.
The writing is so well done and the plot line is really captivating. It has everything. Action, romance, tension. I nearly had a meltdown when my kindle battery died halfway through the book.
I adored the way the romance was done. I could see it coming and so when it finally did I was practically jumping for joy. (I think the author may be going for love triangle – Nathan and Henry – but although there are ‘complications’ I love Nathan and I hope it stays as him – I will cry if not) There was always something happening and I think this book has appeal for any type of reader.
I have a horrible feeling in my tummy as like all incredible writers we were left on a horrible cliff-hanger and... wow, it hurts it even thinking about what happened.
I absolutely loved everything about this – yes, even the cliff-hanger; gotta keep us on our toes. I seriously can’t get over this not being huge. I’m getting all my friends to read it; whether they like reading or not. (Hopefully reading this will change their opinion of books)
*I have received a copy of the book for a honest review!*
I'm sorry, but WTF????????? That ending was so up in the air, I sure hope there will be some sequels because this can't be a standalone. The writing was absolutely amazing. The characters, I think there are no words, these were over the top awesome. I couldn't have asked for more fabulous characters if I wanted to. This book has been a journey. A tremendous journey which was difficult, well more than that it was tragic, and all consuming and so so beautiful. To have the honor of observing such loyalty and friendship and leadership. It was just mind boggling. I am just coming down from the high of what this book did to me and I don't think that I'm the same person as the one that started reading it. The story put so many questions in my head and they are unfortunately rhetorical so I'm the only one with the answers. And I'm afraid of answering them. For kids to survive like that is unheard of and so totally unbelievable but it also is ringing so much truth for me. Although it sounds like total BS. How could this ever happen, how could kids survive? This, for me, is a monumental acknowledgement of a struggle for survival and the lengths that people go to for another day to live. Right now I just can't write anymore. This blew my mind.
Wow... just wow. I can honestly say that it has been awhile since I read a book quite like Eye of the Draco: Darkfall. I began reading the book with little expectations. The story sounded interesting and I had never heard of the author, Kadin Seton, before discovering the book on GoodReads. Boy was I in for an unexpected treat.
Quite frankly, I probably lack the writing skills to properly convey how much I enjoyed this book. As of now, it is among my favorite books that I've read in years. I am so glad that a sequel is already announced and I will definitely be pre-ordering the next book.
Eye of the Draco: Darkfall is a Sci-Fi survival story about a young group of kids, living as a group of survivors during an alien invasion. Throughout the story, they will be constantly tested as they look for supplies, shelter and both offensive and defensive weapons. The eldest members of the group generally remain in their teens to very early 20s and the group must care for the younger survivors among them. I won't recite the full synopsis; you can read it above, but bear in mind that it does not do this story justice.
I've delayed writing my review as I've been thinking what made this book so special to me. I still don't have that answer. Kadin's writing is superb, yet few sentences stood out as literary gold. Rather, I think all elements just fit together perfectly. The characters are relatable, lovable and deep. I was fully engaged in the story and truly cared for the characters and the outcome. The pacing was excellent. I was hooked after the first few pages until the very end and I'm already eager for me. I liked the ending but it definitely makes you want to continue reading the series.
This book is definitely Sci-Fi (alien invasion and all) but at the same time, not overwhelming so. While the aliens do, of course, use advanced alien technology and this is a crucial part of the story, the book does not rely on fancy gadgets or complicated scientific explanations of the gadgets. I think Sci-Fi fans will really enjoy this book but I also think it would be enjoyed by others who may not be huge fans of all the "science" and "tech" in some Sci-Fi books. Fans of survival stories and even zombie apocalypse books will likely find plenty to like and enjoy about Eye of the Draco: Darkfall.
I may edit this review and add more substance, when my thoughts slow down and I'm better able to evaluate the book. I finished the book on Friday but am still excited about it. I don't have as much time to read, especially in a single sitting, as many members on this site but a good book is always difficult for me to put down. In that regard, Eye of the Draco: Darkfall was not only a good book but an addiction. I could not stop reading it or thinking about it. It's extremely rare for a book to get me hooked to this degree. I really was addicted and will be trying to catch up on lost sleep for another week. The sequel cannot be released soon enough.
If you've found this book's page and have made it to this part of my review, you likely have an interest in the book. So do yourself a favor and go read it. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed. As for me, this book is a diamond in the rough. A book and author that I had never heard of prior to reading, that quickly became one of my favorite reads in recent years. I am so glad that I discovered this and would highly recommend it to others.
Is it..
Worth Reading? Absolutely! Worth Buying? Yes A reason to follow the Author? Yes, for the sequel alone. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from Kadin Seton.
Full Disclosure: I received this book in a GoodReads Giveaway contest, for free. Winners are not obligated but are encouraged to write reviews. This is an honest review and was not influenced by the giveaway.
This book takes place in the aftermath of an alien attack which has wiped out most of the world population. A small handful of young survivors have banded together to stay alive. Joining with other civilian soldiers they form an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force in efforts to fight for the survival of humanity. Yesterday afternoon, I downloaded the sample of this book. Upon reading the first four chapters, I decided on an impulse to purchase it. Goodness knows that I have a lot of books that I am supposed to be reading for my GoodReads group, yet I needed to read ‘just a little bit more’. The story caught hold in my mind, and I ended up reading this in one sitting. I am giving this book 5 stars. However, it should be noted that there are a few typos remaining in this indie book. I give kudos to the author for writing such an entertaining action-packed, tale of survival. I was on the edge of my seat for many of the battle scenes. Note: I see that this book was tagged ‘young adult’ but due to the on-page sex scenes I disagree strongly with that tag. I highly recommend this book to ‘adult’ readers of post-apocalyptic and science fiction - alien invasion.
Eye of the Draco series starts with a great first book! In an apocalyptic world, the background is set with few human survivors. As the characters develop you learn their history and what brings them together as a new form of family against the invasion of Draco soldiers and their fight to save humanity. Great recommendation for late teens and adults alike!
I have to admit, this one has me a bit conflicted. On the one hand, there were a number of things that kind of bugged me about this book. On the flip side, I couldn’t stop reading it. Seriously, I read almost half of it at one sitting, staying up long after I had intended to be asleep. Add that to the fact that I only just realized that this was a self-published book, and it definitely earns its four stars. Maybe it deserves five–the things that bugged me are mostly matters of personal taste, after all, but then again reviewing is largely a subjective practice so I’m just going to stick with that rating. I received a free digital copy from the author in exchange for an honest review, but that had no impact on my assessment except to ensure that I got to read the book.
The world as we know it is done for. The Draco, alien invaders from a distant star, struck before we could react, purging the Earth of its inhabitants while leaving our infrastructure intact for their own use. Within days, most of the population was dead. Now the only thing standing between the Draco’s colonization efforts and the utter extermination of humankind are a few small resistance groups scattered here and there. Alison “Allie” Spencer belongs to perhaps the most unlikely of all of these groups–a paramilitary organization of children, commanded by a prematurely-greying nineteen-year-old, spending their days hiding in basements and by night trying in vain to figure out how to hurt the invaders. It seems an impossible task, as the Draco are all but invulnerable to our weapons, but that’s not stopping them from trying. But against the might of an interplanetary invasion force, what can a handful of kids do? They’ll be hard pressed even just to survive, let alone strike back…until an astonishing discovery changes everything….
Like I said, there were a few things that bugged me about this book. The fact that I couldn’t stop comparing it to the TV show Falling Skies, for one thing. For another, a couple high-school science geeks armed with scavenged books, electronics, and a single piece of Draco tech are able to reverse-engineer a connection to the invaders’ wireless power grid while the underground US government is as stumped as ever? That strains my suspension of disbelief. The nineteen-year-old “General” of Sector Three is starting to go grey? Did you really have to do that in order to make him distinguished enough that we readers would respect him? Give me some credit–he’s pretty bad-ass, and I liked him just fine without that incongruous detail.* Most annoying to me, personally, was the interpersonal drama being set up for the next book. I have a deep personal disdain for that most popular of devices in nominally-YA literature, the “love triangle.” Don’t ask me why, I don’t know. It just bugs me. Here, the author is setting up not a triangle but a square, possibly even a pentagram if reports of a certain character’s death turn out to have been greatly exaggerated. Moreover, the book ended on a “down” note that just left me depressed.
BUT…
Like I said, I couldn’t put it down. The annoyances were minor in comparison with how gripping the plot turned out to be. Sure, some elements were a stretch, but I didn’t really care at the time. It mirrored some elements from Falling Skies, but I liked that show, and a number of those elements are tropes now anyway. And the “love pentagram” really didn’t come into play until the very end. Beyond that, this is hands down the most professional self-published novel I have ever seen. The cover art is far beyond what I’m used to seeing in these cases, even if the eye there depicted once again recalls the Skitters from Falling Skies. I don’t recall seeing a single typo or bungled punctuation mark in the entire book, which is sometimes more than I can say for actual professionally-published books. Most importantly of all, the book was just plain fun. Will I read the sequel when it finally comes out? Most certainly! I look forward to it, in fact….
CONTENT: Occasional R-rated profanity, not prolific but nevertheless present. Explicit but not gratuitous sexual content. Strong violence, consistent with the war being waged.
*While leading a teenage resistance to an alien invasion would most certainly be stressful, contrary to popular myth studies show zero evidence that stress causes grey hair.
What an incredible incredible book. And what an amazing beginning to what promises to be an extraordinary series.
Eye of the Draco : Darkfall is the story of a Allie, a young survivor struggling to stay alive after the invasion of the Draco - an alien society intent on taking over Earth. The Draco have eliminated much of the human population. No one knows how many people are left. Allie is part of a small group of kids and teenagers who have managed to survive - forming a community. Forming a small army with the goal of staying alive for as long as possible. And if at all possible finding a way to fight back….
I have already read a number of really good books this year. And I honestly can say that I have not had such an intense emotional response as I did to this. There where so many moments when I would just start to tear up, and not always at the moments when you would expect. There were so many moments when the tension is just so high that you have to keep reading - work, sleep, food be damned. Allie and all of the characters here are so amazing, so strong, so intense and yet so utterly simple in their desires, so human, that you just cannot help but not only relate but fall in love with them. Their struggles are so heartfelt and amazing and told in such a simple and eloquent way - Kaden really is a gifted storyteller. You cannot help but see everything they see. You cannot help but experience what they experience. There were so many times that I forgot that this were teenagers and younger. Which makes those moments when they experience something like a first kiss, or realizing that their bodies have matured all the more poignant and beautiful. It also makes the losses, of friends - of what has become family, of new found loves, heck of pets all the more heartbreaking.
I realize I am making this seem really heavy and don’t get me wrong it has its moments - I mean this is war and war with very young soldiers- but it also isn’t at the same time. This isn’t something that you dread reading. This is something that excites - an amazing world where the unlikely become heroes. And it is an amazing adventure - pure sci fi at its best (even though there is actually not that much sci fi happening). I think that lovers of Ender’s Game, the tv show Fallen Skies, the Host, Stargate all of those types of books or shows or movies that are sci fi but focus on the human aspect will love this. I cannot wait to read more.
So we have the Dracos living in the centre of the galaxy which has become unfashionably overcrowded much like a galactic Beijing. The pollution is unseemly and life just isn’t what it used to be any more. Hey, (thinks the Draco peeps) someone mentioned a cool little planet in the outer spiral arm that we could move to. Eeeeewwwww!, (thinks other Dracos) that’s like – out in the boonies with spiders and like – cockroaches – EEEEEEEWWWW! C'mon – it’ll be cool and uncrowded - and - there's kangaroos. Let’s go.
So they send out the expeditionary forces on the not-insubstantial 28,000 Light Year journey in their version of the Wagon Queen Family Truckster. Many, MANY years later they finally arrive at Earth. You know how after a long journey in your Family Truckster, you have “bumus numbus” and your eyes are tired, you’re hungry and sick of interstellar truck-stop food – you just want to have a shower and a sleep. Well that’s how our Dracos feel when they look out the window and find Earth is already crowded with billions of pesky humanoids. BUMMER! So they wait 30 years or so, to see what these annoying humans are like – in fact, the Dracos are “grading” us on a “sentience scale”. Fail and it’s curtains for us. Of course, humans like to blow shit up, the shit being each other. FAIL! We are graded as “lower than worm spit” and worthy of eradication. So before settling, the Dracos break out the Galactic bug spray and give us a good spraying. Most of us die but somehow, bunches of pissed-off, pimply teenagers survive (well it is a YA fiction).
BUMMER! (Thinks the Dracos). Time to send in the troops...but only send the dumb ones...err...wait....they’re all dumb...and let’s wipe out these prepubescent pests.
And so it goes....
I have no doubt that our author, Kadin, knows how to write well. He knows his guns and he has obviously read “The Art of War”, but his science is just not good. I guess a young adult might overlook this and read on regardless – but I found a lot of assumptions (like travelling 28,000 Light Years) a bit hard to swallow. Not to say I didn’t enjoy the book. It’s pretty good. For me, all the author needs to do, to write a hit novel, is to improve the believability a tad.
I received this book through Goodreads First Reads.
Out of all the books I have won, this is the one I've been most itching to read! After reading many wonderful reviews about Kadin Seton's new book, I'm sure you can imagine my anticipation! This is a perfect example of a book that will bring sorrow as you turn the last page. Because you want to continue!! Although I found the storyline in the beginning a little slower than I expected, the second half is truly deserving of its five-star rating. What I found well-executed was the way Seton brought out the complexity of emotions in her characters. I found myself very drawn to each of them, although some had to work harder to win my respect and even garnered my admiration (i.e. Martin's aggressive/stubborn personality, but who is also very loyal to his team). I could really feel Allie's emotions including her anger at having to leave someone behind for the sake of the sector's safety, but I also felt the intensity of her feelings towards her best friend. The latter is definitely something I am looking forward to finding out in the next book, especially being a witness to the surprising ending and how that will affect other pairs of eyes possibly looking for Allie's affection. A fun, action-packed story that I will definitely enjoy reading again in the future!
I will be waiting impatiently for the "Eye of the Draco: Nevertime."
Kadin SetonI found this book in a local gift shop and noticed that this was a local author and the setting was in Pittsford. Reading the back description it peeked my interest and wanting to support a local author(and gift shop) I bought the book. This book to me was written to be a YA novel however there were a few sex scenes that I thought were not for the age group this book would be for. Because of those scenes I wouldn't recommend for a middle school age kids. I honestly didn't think this book even needed that. A simple love plot would of be perfect. But I really enjoyed this book. After each chapter I wanted to continue reading. I found myself thinking about it before I went to sleep, looking forward to being able to read it the next day. Even though I felt there could be improvements in her writing as some transitions seemed awkward making it obvious that this bit of information needed to be there because it was going to be talked about later on, I still really enjoyed the book and felt that Seton has talent! I even felt the ending was perfect. You felt the story ended at the proper time. I see she said her second book would come out in 2014 and we are well past that. I hope she gets that second book done because I would love to see what happens with her characters. Don't give up now....keep writing!
I'm not the biggest fan of alien type books and I did have a hard time at 1st getting into this book because the story was being told. I'm not a big fan of books like that either. but when I got almost halfway through I started to really enjoy the book. it's well thought out, we'll told, has its own uniqueness. kids being the only survivors of a alien takeover and watching them grow to become killers out of necessity, of the alien race only, using their knowledge to survive , creating a unified group is great. they didn't come across as children and teens, more adult like and as you watch then grow the book becomes even better.. I'm only sad that I borrowed it and didn't get to finish reading it by the time limit Amazon allows but the person who lent it to me was kind enough to tell me what I didn't get to read in as much detail as she could. which was very good. gave me the sense of reading and finishing myself . I'm not sure if I'm happy with the ending too much but something had to be left open for the next installment in the series, so I have yet to decide if I like how it continues. I now look forward to reading volume 2. who would have thought. so yes it was good and I do recommend it to teens and adults.
This book was the complete package for me. Especially since it is in my genre preference of science fiction, with a little romance, (which is really hard to find). The story started out a bit slow but that was O.K. because it gave me a chance to learn the main character, Allie Spencer, who starts out solitary but comes across a band of various aged freedom fighters. Characters for me are the real clincher in a story. The main heroine was strong, realistic, spunky, vunerable at times, independent, resourceful, in other words, someone I really wanted to read about. The back story of really creepy aliens invading earth and systematically taking it over was pretty compelling and eerie. Everything wasn't just handed to our band of heroes. The struggle was sincere and there was blood, sweat and tears, but the author also gives you a satisfactory conclusion, which was still open enough to promote sequels. I began this book not at all sure where it was going, but by the time I closed the last page I knew that I was going to enjoy the heck out of this series. Love it!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Omg seriously I cannot believe it ended there, what a book. I can honestly say I thought the blurb sounded really interesting but never did I expect it to be as amazing as it was. The best science fiction book I've ever read.
Everything about this book was outstanding. The characters are so amazing and lovable, I instantly got behind them. And the story is just mind blowing. From the first page I was pulled into the story and this world that the author has created. I'm on a total buzz from this book. It's the kind of book you finish reading and want to rave about to everyone you know. I'm definitely a fan of this author and the writing is flawless such a fantastic book and now I'm sitting here desperate to read the next book in the series. This book really does have it all, aliens, combat, romance, great characters and an amazing plot you couldn't possibly go wrong in reading this.
There are some popular apocalyptic books out now like Divergent, Hunger Games, etc., however, even though there are a few similarities, like the fact that the main protagonist, Allie, is a young girl who develops strength and resilience as the plot progresses, in other ways this novel is quite different. It's an intriguing look at how a group of young people in their teens and twenties survive against an alien species dedicated to exterminate and replace the human race. From the first page I was hooked. Even though it seems like the book is geared toward young adults, I as an older adult truly enjoyed and had fun reading it. I was disappointed to see it end and felt like I wanted to read the next book immediately, which I am looking forward to!!
Okay, first off i'd like to say these kinds of books usually aren't my cup of tea.
But this book was like a breath of fresh air and I'm sorry it took so long for me to get around to reading it! I expected it to be either a boring alien book or a generic post-apocalyptic book, but it turned out to be so much more! I don't want to say to much and have any spoilers, but the characters are amazing in this book and the development in the plot had me not able to put it down (Except for during classes of course, got to keep the grades up! haha).
Seriously give this book a chance! It's a good read and the author is sweet too! What more could you ask for? <3
While I do love dystopia as a genre, I usually don’t go for the alien invasion variety. Eye of the Draco is a wonderful exception. Life on planet earth has changed forever, and our narrator tells the story of her small group of survivors mostly teenagers and youth and as they struggle to survive and perhaps learn to fight back? I definitely recommend this to any dystopia lover.
While I can honestly say I am not a regular reader of Science fiction, I might have to become one after starting this series. It's one of those books where you feel like you actually know the characters. You want to jump in the book and help Allie and her friends defeat the Draco. Or at least lend a hand to their survival. It's an action packed adventure and I can't wait to see what happens next.
I wasnt sure what to expect when I started to read Eye of the Draco. I found this to be a well thought out imaginative book.I read this book in a week I just loved it! I really liked how the survivors fought back in a unified group against the Draco. I cant wait for book 2!
Good story line and well written. I enjoyed the writing style and the idea of the book although was not new was an interesting twist. I am looking forward to reading the next book in series. A very captivating book well worth reading.

WOW! I am so thrilled. I never expected a R4R to be this good. I admit I have never read a science fiction novel before, and I LOVED IT!
