Head of a spying network, Lord Keyes is sent to his childhood home to see about some trespassers, but nothing would have ever prepared him for what he found… shot and held captive by the she devil. Little by little everything begins to unravel; his past, his hurt and his control.
"Oh, I dare, and, by God, by the end of it, when I've had my cock in your mouth, your cunt, and your arse, you'll be screaming my name, I swear it."

Revenge, vengeance and death bed promises, Malinda sets off to honor those promises not letting anyone stand in her way; including Benedict. From the start, there was never a future for them, they were from two different classes, but damned if her body would listen to reason.
He was still Benedict, her Benedict, the other half of her soul. Just because she tried to deny that connection didn't mean it didn't exist.

Enjoying each other as they make head or tails on who they can trust, they sort through the information as it comes to light, there is more to their past than they thought and is pissing people off in the process, especially those who want the secrets to stay hidden.

Tempting A Sinner is an historical erotic tale of two souls bound together but torn apart by lies. Secrets and lust make this tale an exciting read. I do have to admit the beginning threw me off a bit, but once all the twists and turns happened, I got passed that it all flowed from there. Malinda is a woman scorned, she is strong in all ways but love, and will stop at nothing to get the answers she needs to set the record straight. Benedict is known as a cold hearted bastard, but that is all thanks to Malinda, now that she is back in his life he can't help but feel the ice melt. An interesting addition to the Sinner's club series, one that I will be definitely come back to…

I’m not normally one for reading erotic romance. I have nothing against the genre – I’ve just tended to leave it to one side as I had the impression that the majority of the books given that label contained wall-to-wall sex and no plot. I have no objection to wall-to-wall-and-other-flat-surfaces – sex; but I like books to have a decent story as well, so I’ve tended to give the more erotic tales a wide berth.

But August’s TBR prompt is Luscious Love Scenes – erotica or a sensual read. The majority of the books I read contain sex scenes, but this is a reading challenge, so I decided to step outside my comfort zone and try an erotic romance. The problem is that I don’t own any – but a recent browse through NetGalley brought me Tempting a Sinner by Kate Pearce, which seemed like just the ticket.

It’s the second full-length novel (there’s also a prequel novella) in Ms Pearce’s Sinners’ Club series, so called because the club itself, while operating as a gentleman’s club – which, unsually, allows female members – also provides a discreet environment for those employed by the government in sensitive positions to blow off steam, and to “explore their sexuality” (probably in other ‘sensitive positions’! And oh, God, it’s going to be difficult to write this review without indulging in double-entendres and “ooh, matron!” jokes!)

First things first then - there is plenty of sex in the book of various persuasions. M/F, F/F, M/M, M/F/M, F/M/F, sex toys, voyeurism, group sex, a bit of light bondage… something for everyone! It’s well-written, and it’s hot; and it fortunately stays the right side of the thin line that runs between “hawt” and “funny”, which can be quite a difficult thing to do, so kudos to the author for that. Props to her, too, for not having her protagonists have sex at stupid times; there’s none of this - “we’re being chased by the bad guys, but we must shag, NOW!” nonsense.

The story centres around Lord Benedict Keyes and his estranged wife, who haven’t seen each other in the eighteen years since their youthful marriage. Both were “army brats”, although from opposite sides of the tracks.

Benedict is the son of a marquess while Malinda’s father was a common soldier, but the pair more or less grew up together because both families followed the drum. I always enjoy a story where the central couple are friends before they become romantically involved, and while we don’t see much of them as children and adolescents, an undercurrent of deep friendship permeates the book, and the reader gets a very strong sense of the fact that here are two people who knew each other very well - so much so that even though they have both changed in the intervening years, they are still able to discern the other’s thoughts and emotions. It’s that deep connection between the two protagonists which surprised me most about the book, because I really hadn’t expected to find something like that in the pages of an erotic romance.

Benedict and Malinda’s marriage was a hasty one following the sudden death of her father while on assignment in Spain. They are very much in love, but the marquess is furious that his son has married a “nobody” and immediately separates the pair by telling Malinda a whopping great lie that has her haring off the day after the wedding. He lies to Benedict, too, telling him that Malinda has accepted money in return for agreeing to an annulment – as a way to ensure that he will never seek her out.

Both characters are therefore starting from points of extreme suspicion and distrust when they finally meet again, and Ms Pearce does a very good job in portraying those emotions and in breaking down their barriers gradually, so that their eventual reconciliation happens at a realistic pace. Because this is an erotic romance, the fact that Benedict and Mally are conflicted about their feelings for each other doesn’t prevent them from jumping into bed frequently, but the author very clearly establishes the difference between the physical and the emotional. Both characters at some point, use sex as a means of manipulation and in order to gain the upper hand, but there are also some very tender, intimate moments that provide real insight into their relationship and are, in a way, far sexier than any amount of bonking could ever be. For example, in this scene, after Benedict has brought Malinda back to London from the country and they have been discussing the plan of action for dealing with Benedict’s father, who they suspect may be behind a plot to harm Malinda, they are preparing for bed like any other long-married couple.

He sat to remove his boots and took off his breeches then his shirt. His body gleamed so enticingly in the candlelight that Malinda had to look away. He climbed into bed beside her and blew out the candle.

“Tomorrow, we should look for a maid for you.”

“Are you tired of having to deal with my corset?”

“No, I can’t say that will ever become a chore.”

She stared up at the canopy above their heads. “I cannot afford a maid.”

He sighed. “Let’s not argue about this again. You sought my protection and I need you to look respectable. Having me as your ladies’ maid will not suffice.”

“I’m perfectly capable of looking after myself.”

“I know that. But you aren’t used to London society.”

She snorted. “You’re afraid I’ll show you up.”

He moved so suddenly that she found herself underneath him. “Your inferiority complex is showing.”

“Which is why we never would have succeeded as a married couple. Society will never accept a peer married to a common sergeant’s daughter.”

“Good Lord, you sound just like my father.” He gave her a tiny shake. “Peers have married actresses and known whores. The entire royal family is a scandal. No one would give a damn. The only person who cares about it is you.”

“Go away, Benedict.”

[…]

She flopped onto her back. “Are you ever going to stop talking?”

“Probably not. I do some of my best thinking just before I fall asleep.”

“This isn’t ‘thinking’; it’s rambling.”

There is a strong sense of connection between them outside the bedroom, too, as they work together to solve an eighteen year-old mystery surrounding the disappearance of a valuable military shipment which is closely linked to both families. Both principals are strongly characterised, even during the sex scenes when they don’t suddenly have personality transplants and become different people. They tease, they jibe, they fight - they treat each other out of bed in much the same way as they do in it. I will admit to sometimes thinking that their sexual preferences seemed a little at odds with the way I was starting to see them, however. Benedict, for example, is a man with a sterling reputation for loyalty and honour, as well as one who is utterly ruthless and dedicated to his work. He’s handsome (naturally!), can be very charming and has a softer side that he allows nobody to see, and I couldn’t quite reconcile that man

I enjoyed the book and may read others by this author at some point. I don’t think I’m going to go hunting out erotic romances by the bucket-load, as I suspect I’ve been lucky with finding one with a satisfyingly complex plot in addition to well-drawn characters, lots of hot sex and a convincing second-chance romance. If you enjoy a good mystery combined with some down ‘n’ dirty lovin’, then Tempting a Sinner is definitely worth a look.

Review -

Wow. Pearce is not shy about what she infuses her tales with. There is sexual activity for all here. Man and woman. Woman and woman. Man and man. Threesomes of various kinds. Voyeurism. All told in rich and powerful detail with a prose and tempo often missing in erotica.
But Pearce also writes a really good mystery here. Not just some filler until the next sex scene. She layers secret upon secret and discovery upon discovery. Remove the sex and you have a very good mystery novel that would stand on its own.
But why would you want to?
Surprisingly good. I will definitely be looking for others in her collection of stories.
A very good read.

Genres: Adult, Erotica, Romance
3.75 Stars

I was unsure if I should give this a 3 or 4 star. Here is why;

Her characters & the story line itself is very stilted. It's hard to feel connected to either. Its like they are 2 dimensional.
Great books make you FEEL. You become a part of the story when it is well written. You become a part of the characters. You, as the reader, feel involved.
This is the 3rd book in this series I have read & each one is written the same way. I kept hoping the next book would be better.
But, unfortunately I was disappointed.

So why have I continued to read this series & why am I unsure about the stars. Even while writing this review I am wavering. 3 stars or 4 stars.......

When it comes to the sexual situations Kate Pearce's writing suddenly changes.
You can feel the Passion! You suddenly feel the emotions of her characters. This woman can really write Erotic situations that even make the reader PANT!

If she could just get that same passion into the rest of her story line I would most likely give a 5 star. Her erotic situation are THAT FANTASTIC!

So that brings me back to 3 stars or 4 stars.......

Second book in the Sinners Club series follows the story of a mysterious Lord Keyes – an invaluable member of British Intelligence – and his equally mysterious disappearance. An event hinted about in the previous book, now gets a full length novel that burns with glorious sexual chemistry, a healthy dose of angst, and one of the better second chance romances stories I’ve read so far.

After The Sinners Club left me a little disappointed with how seemingly stilted the chemistry between the main couple was, I was floored with the intensity of it in this book.

From the very moment Benedict and Malinda see each other after years apart, the intense sexual tension burns between them. But there is also this curious almost sad longing. Even when Keyes doesn’t quite know who he is he feels this pull between him and mysterious lady who, well, shot at him.
At first I felt like that amnesia subplot was unnecessary, especially give how quickly it was put aside; Keyes realized who he is pretty quickly. But, honestly it was a brilliant opening for such a complicated and intense relationship. After all, after so many years, their reunion ought to be almost over the top and so volatile. Just as Benedict and Malinda are together.

I thoroughly enjoyed this thrilling, angst tinged, whirlwind treat of a romance. The story is a nice blend of emotional redemption story and mystery, where none of the sub plots overshadows the scorching hot romance awakening again between the main couple.

I wasn’t convinced I’d follow the series after the first book, but this one redeemed it, bringing such an intense story.

Tempting a Sinner, the second installment in Kate Pearce's highly erotic historical series, The Sinner's Club, is the highly anticipated and long awaited romance starring Lord Benedict Keyes. It is another scorching hot novel that finally provides answers for the intriguing questions about Keyes and his mysterious past.

Benedict's eighteen year separation from his wife, Malinda, comes to a very unexpected conclusion when Malinda returns to England following the death of her mother. Their reunion is very unorthodox and although a bit rocky in the beginning, Malinda and Keyes are soon in the midst of a very perplexing mystery surrounding the death of Malinda's father years earlier. With both Malinda and Benedict keeping secrets from one another, will they uncover the truth before it is too late?

Although Benedict has been featured in previous novels, he continues to be a rather mystifying figure. He has an impeccable reputation and he is quite honorable and well respected by his peers. In his private life, Benedict keeps things simple and he is unencumbered by emotional entanglements. But when he is reunited with Malinda, his hard won control is threatened and she definitely shakes up his well-ordered, quiet life.

Malinda is a mature woman, who is feisty and not afraid to do whatever it takes to untangle the web of deception surrounding her father's death. She is not exactly forthcoming with information, so she and Benedict stumble around a bit in their investigation until she divulges most of the secrets she has been keeping. Their relationship suffers a bit from the lack of honesty between them, but their emotions and feelings always feel genuine.

Benedict and Malinda's relationship is complicated by lies and betrayals from their long ago past, but nothing can diminish the fiery passion that burns between them. Outside of the bedroom, secrets continually come between them, but in the bedroom, these two are definitely on the same page. Sexually adventurous, Benedict and Malinda indulge in a ménage or two (with both another woman and another man). Malinda experiments with a little girl on girl action while Benedict continues his occasional encounters with Adam Fisher, a longtime friend and fellow Sinner's Club member. Their sexual repertoire also includes voyeurism, bondage, light spankings and a little backdoor action.

A deliciously sensual novel that has no shortage of incredibly passionate encounters, Tempting a Sinner is a beautiful blend of mystery and romance. Kate Pearce keeps The Sinner's Club series fresh with introduction of new characters and innovative, intriguing storylines. Once again, I am very much looking forward to the next installment in this delightfully provocative and alluring series.

A perfectly balanced combination of erotic, suspense and romance. Not all sexual encounters reflect my personal tastes, but all scenes are very well written and oh boy, are they hot! The revival of their love between Malinda and Benedict happens slowly over the length of the book, distrust built in 18 years of absence doesn't just disappear overnight. The mystery kept me guessing until the end.

Okay, the plot was inconsequential nonsense that I'm not even going to bother summarizing for y'all (there is nothing I dislike more than boring spy plots, and this was hardly a spy plot, but yawn anyway), but I'm giving this three stars for how fucking bonkers it was:

- Our Hero and Our Heroine meet when Our Heroine is occupying his country house, and she throws open an upstairs window with a rifle and shoots him off his horse.

- He hits his head and loses his memory. You know what else I hate? Amnesia plots.

- BUT THEN, Our Heroine, in order to test and see whether he actually has amnesia, tells him she's a DEPRAVED WIDOW and he's a MALE HOOKER sent to SATISFY HER BASE LUSTS, and that's why she's keeping him CHAINED TO THE BED, because she had the madam send her someone who's INTO THAT KIND OF THING. (Why did she shoot him, then?? Who cares.) They bone a lot.

- At some point, Our Hero remembers that Our Heroine is..................... his wife!!!!!!!!! (At this point, the consent gets a little sketchy, but my tolerance for these things is pretty high, so I just rolled with it.)

- Our Hero is a fingers in the booty ass bitch. Prayer hands emoji. The minute Our Heroine's finger went in his bhole I realized: okay, this is not actually a romance-romance, they barely do doggystyle in romance novels, let alone anal, let alone anal on dudes.

- Some plot stuff happens. Our Heroine meets Our Hero's boyfriend/slam piece and, pretty much out of nowhere, watches him get head from said boyfriend. She's about it. We are decidedly off the romance novel reservation.

- More plot happens, whatever. Our Heroine meets Our Hero's........... dildo-and-butt-plug collection. "A collection of jade phalluses of various sizes something something stored in red satin &c." Aight. I'm down. Where is this going?

- ...straight into Our Hero's bootyhole, apparently, as he demonstrates their use on himself to show her that he doesn't!! really!! need!!! anyone to have sex with!! He can put things in his own butt, thank you very much.

- I'm skipping over the whole plot, but basically: our heroes got married when they were 17 and 18. Our Hero's jerk father tried to break up the marriage, and told Our Hero that Our Heroine accepted a bribe to run off to the Continent. He told Our Heroine that he'd had an affair with Our Heroine's mother, and that Our Hero wasactually her half-brother.

- No, look, it's totally cool, they're not siblings, but I straight thought the author was going to go there for a second. But Our Heroine did think she accidentally married her brother for, like, 18 years, until her mom's deathbed confession.

- Eventually Our Hero's boyfriend/slam piece takes Our Heroine to a hot sex party, and Our Hero gets mad abt it, Our Heroine gets mad abt Our Hero getting mad, the BF is really just here for a good time, and they all end up having an angry three-way. Wild.

- Nobody in the narrative gets weird about two bi dudes in one novel, which I was glad about. Nobody in the narrative gets weird about the obvious affection (behind closed doors, of course) between those two dudes; it's not a plot device for Our Heroine to get jealous over. Nobody in the narrative gets weird about Our Heroine's lesbian cousin, whom Our Heroine gets off while Our Heroine sits on Our Hero's face while he's still chained to the bed (okay, that was a little weird, but, once again, I rolled with it, I have read weirder shit). Nobody in the narrative gets weird about the fact that Our Hero's BF is obviously in love with another dude and jumps at the chance to give said dude a ~~tender blowjob at the hot sex party, either. Honestly, the relatively chill attitude toward Gay Shit is part of the reason why I gave this three stars instead of two? Bless.

Anyway, at some point, more plot happened, and then the book was over. I was 100% delighted. I would absolutely skim this again. (I'm doing this book a disservice. The plot was halfway competent, and I found all the characters pretty likable. Maybe my library's ebook loan service has the rest of the books? I'd read them.)

Tempting a Sinner was another great offering from the very talented Kate Pearce, and I'm so happy to finally find out what was going on with Lord Keyes! Pearce takes us on an interesting journey of mystery and intrigue that left me guessing throughout the entire book as to what exactly was going to happen with these two next. I have to say that I absolutely loved this passionate reuniting of lovers that were torn apart by lies and deceit at a very young age.

Benedict Keyes has been estranged from his wife Malinda Rowland for over eighteen years. Upon her mother’s death, she embarks on a journey back to England to figure out who killed her father and exact her revenge. When matters take an unexpected turn, Malinda requests Benedict’s aid and she decides to take drastic measures to capture the Lord’s attention. Passion doesn’t even begin to describe what I feel these two share. They have amazing chemistry, and I adored that both characters were so very strong. Each scene was better than the next, and Kate proved to me once again that she is a master of historical erotic fiction. Now once these two lay all their cards out on the table, it is anyone’s guess whether the relationship between them will survive all that stands in their way.

Tempting a Sinner was a wild and very sexy ride with the perfect amount of suspense, romance, and eroticism. Not only was it exceedingly well written, but it was also a sinfully delightful read as well. I did find that it tended to drag on a bit in some areas, but the ending is where I think this story could have used a bit more. It just felt a tad bit rushed, and Keyes was a bit too accepting of what Melinda revealed she had been hiding the entire time they were together. I would have liked to see that more fleshed out, but other than that I really did enjoy this read so it was just a minor snag to me. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book, so I’m eagerly awaiting what is going to happen with Alistair and his disreputable brother. If you are looking for a captivating read with tons of passion and intrigue, then I definitely suggest that you give this series a try.

MY THOUGHTS: The synopsis doesn't really tell you what this book is about so I'll explain. Benedict, 36, with blond hair and blue eyes, has been estranged from Malinda, 35, with red hair and hazel eyes, for eighteen years. They grew up together and married when they were seventeen and eighteen. Ben's father forced them apart because he felt Malinda was beneath his son, so he made up a horrible lie to scare/run Malinda off. Malinda thought they were divorced this whole time, I'm not sure why, but they weren't. They reunite and rediscover their love for each other. I found both of them to be bland. There's a mystery they're trying to solve about who killed her father years ago. I'm sorry to say I was completely uninterested in that, which was the entire plot. Honestly, I couldn't wait for this story to end. It's completely different than the first in the series, which I couldn't get enough of.

I liked the explicit sex scenes and there were over twenty of them. There were two m/m scenes, one threesome, a few scenes between others at the Sinners Club, and the rest were just between Malinda and Ben. I'd have liked more m/m scenes. In fact, I'd like a future Sinners Club novel to have only m/m scenes.

It needs to be made more clear in each book in the series just what the Sinners Club is, exactly. It's more than a sex club for ex-military people. I couldn't get a feel of the layout of the establishment either.

There was one interesting thing in this story and it had to do with a teenaged girl named Doris, who lives with Malinda. I didn't see that revelation coming and I'm disappointed that we didn't get to see how it played out.

I received this from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Historical romances are usually not for me, anything suggesting a Downton Abbey like setting has me running for the hills but this series is very different. When I started reading and realised it was historical I was ready to trash it and report back to Netgalley that they should have made it clear it was historical. This book has converted me to be more open minded. Who'd have thought the mystery, a secret club and corseted women could be so excited. My pantaloons are in a twist!.
The Sinners Club if for men and women who work for the government in some capacity to get support of any kind needed but also to explore their desires with like minded individuals. It's a time where information gatherers are not acknowledged by the government even thought they provide much information. Espionage is a very ungentlemanly business which England distances itself from. The only place such people are supported is at The Sinners Club. It's 1827 and Benedict Keyes, a manager of the club, is drawn to his ancestral home in Lincolnshire by an unsigned letter. Once there he is trapped and suffering amnesia. The woman holding him Malinda, doesn't know whether he's playing dumb or really doesn't know who he is or who she is. She wants answers and ultimately revenge. The story takes them back to London, to arson, kidnap and eventually answers as to what really happened many years ago.

The sex scenes are explicit and what surprised me was that they were damn hot, not what I expected at all. There are various matches, M/M, F/F, M/F, M/M/F.

It's a short book but with enough plot to just keep out of the Porn Without Plot (PWP) genre. A quick, filthy, fun read.

This book is all about the sexual situations. Kate Pearce is truly a master of coupling in all forms and variations.

This book offers:
Male/Male
Male/Female
Menage variations
Light Bondage
Mild Spanking Play

The interaction between leading lady Malinda and her leading man, Lord Benedict, is fiery and draws the reader in from the first scene. It is this fire and refusal to live within the confines of convention that make both characters a joy to experience.

Readers are introduced to the Sinner's Club reference in the series title, but aside from a few choice scenes the club is more of a setting than a main stage for the book's happenings.
The problem with this read comes in the plot. Malinda's motives for her actions, Benedict's father's actions toward her, and the reasoning behind the whole thing is very convoluted when compared to the seamless flow of all other aspects of this steamy tale.

Given the explicit nature of this read, it is suggested for readers 18+.

Benedict and Mally were childhood lovers in this historical romance. Mally was of poor blood and Ben was a lord there is a murder mystery that brings the two lovers back together. Each character introduced brings a new light to the mass murder that occurred 18 years ago. The sex and passion I'm this novel is intense and amazing. There is m-m f-m m-f-f orgies. The dinners club is a rich mans kink house with various kinks explored. There is no shame in m-m and it is described very sexilyThe intense connection between Ben and Mally is amazing they send off sparks. This can be read as a stand alone and I don't think I've missed anything by not reading the first book.

Benedict has finally ready to claim his wife. Benedict never sign the papers to divorce his wife. He could not stop loving her. Now that she is back in his life. I received this novel from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review:

Let me start by saying that Kate Pearce really cannot write a bad book. Yes, some have been better than others, but overall ... eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!! lol
I first got hooked on Ms Pearce via her House of Pleasures series and I was hooked from page one. THIS series, in my opinion, tops it. I never thought I would ever say that.
I LOVE HISTORICAL SMUTTINESS LOL
The passion in this book is intense.. The sexcual encounters are SOOOOOO hot hot hot!
There's more to this book than sex, of course, but honestly, the passion is so damn hot it really doesn't matter LOLOLOL

This book was fantastic!! I was thrilled when I got the e-mail that I had won this wonderful book from goodreads.
It holds your attention from page one...it sizzles it's smoking hot!!! I think Kate Pearce will be my favorite Author, and I will be buying more of her books in the future. Great story and what a ride of emotions. I wish Kate Pearce much success with her book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an adventure. :)

MM, MMF, MFM, MFF ... when all *I* prefer is M/F!
But...you know what you're going to get with Pearce and there's just something ... 'so what' about the raunch that in her writing hands it's at times ... ok. And boy oh boy did the H/h really love each other including getting off on this stuff.
But still ... does anyone in REAL LIFE want this in *their* marriage ...

Malinda spent years outside of England, protecting her family and herself. After her mother's death she has no choice but to come back and reengage with a man she left behind. Benedict wasn't sure what to expect when he was called to his family's country estate but a gun shot and amnesia was not any where close to what he had planned. Trying to remember who he really is Malinda leads him to believe a few tall tales but the truth throws him for a loop. As they make their way back to town, Benedict brings Malinda in to his world of spies and intrigue hoping to uncover who is trying to keep her silent. Really great, dirty story with FFM and MMF scenarios. Even though this is part of a series I felt it read very easily as a stand alone. But that means I should go back and read more!

This is an erotica book ( just want to throw that out there, since in the past I have borrowed E-books and had no clue how saucy they were).
Though for an erotic book, the plot is written extremely well and if it didn't contain any graphic scenes, it could stand on it's own.
Lord Keyes and malinda were married as children, she left him and then summons him back years later because she thinks he is trying to kill her. When he arrives, she shoots him and he briefly loses his memory.
They get back together and try to uncover the spy plot.

Please, I’m begging you, no more intimate scenes between cousins. The only saving grace this time was that the scene was at the beginning of the book, so I had time to forget it by the time the plot really started. Now that I’m 3 books into this series I feel obligated to finish the last one, but please…no more cousins…

The Sinner's club is an exclusive club for British Spies with some extra curricular activities once a week. Love the historical aspect of these books. Benedict, Lord Keyes & his wearabouts & ensuing adventure.
