Once again I have found an incredible book to read and think about. It was put together one year after 9/11 and was humbling to read. To start with was an introduction by then-president George W. Bush. It goes on the premise that after 9/11 everything changed...the patriotism, and terrorism of that fateful day. Noted historians have written their words about the event and it's affect on the people in the United States and around the world; people like James Bradley and David McCullough. Noted photographers have contributed to this book including Gregg Brown, who documented the recovery of the World Trade Center for eight months, presented in this book for the first time in this book. It talks of the legacy of many, as well as talking to some of the survivors.
This book also gives you cause to contemplate other days similar to this in American History....1776 and our battle for independence, the Civil War, WWI and Pearl Harbor of WWII. We survived those events, as we are living these "new" times now. Events that did not stop us, but made us stronger. It is good for all of us to remember these past events as well.

This book is a tribute and memorial to what follwed in the year after the towers came down. Some great aerial photography chronicling the clearing of the site. Pictures, glimpses into personal challenges, and interesting thoughts abound. Believe it or not, I bought this wonderful book several years ago at the dollar store and mostly just perused it. Around the time of our Independence day this year I finally decided to actually read it. It is worthwhile to read what is written in it. I enjoyed the insights. You will too.
