Audouin-Mamikonian est née en France le 24 août 1961 d’où elle a puisé les contes et légendes alimentant son imaginaire. Elle est titulaire d'un DESS de diplomatie et Stratégie et est mariée, mère de deux filles, Diane et Marine, qui sont ses correctrices. Elle partage son temps entre sa famille, l'écriture et ses activités avec l’association Douleurs sans frontières, dirigée par le docteur Alain Série. Sophie Audouin-Mamikonian est surtout connue pour sa dodécalogie Tara Duncan, un univers dans lequel évolue la jeune héroïne éponyme, une sortcelière dotée d'un pouvoir extraordinaire qu'elle a souvent bien du mal à contrôler. Όταν η λογοτεχνία του φανταστικού και του paranormal, έκανε δυναμική εμφάνιση και κατέκτησε το αναγνωστικό κοινό πριν από τέσσερα χρόνια περίπου, συστήνοντας το είδος ακόμα και σε εκείνους που δεν είχαν ιδέα σχετικά με αυτό, τα ράφια των βιβλιοπωλείων γέμισαν με ιστορίες για βρικόλακες. Λίγο καιρό μετά, και όταν το θέμα άρχισε πλέον να χωλαίνει, ήρθε η σειρά των αγγέλων να κάνουν την εμφάνισή τους, για να δώσουν σειρά στους λύκους, ενώ ακολούθησαν οι νεράιδες και τα ξωτικά. Αν με ρωτούσε κανείς πριν από κάποιο καιρό, ποιος συμπαθούσα λιγότερα ανάμεσα τους εκπροσώπους του φανταστικού, θα απαντούσα χωρίς δισταγμό και δεύτερη σκέψη, τους λύκους, το σύμπαν των οποίων μου φαινόταν λιγότερο ενδιαφέρον από των υπολοίπων. Βέβαια, στο διάστημα που ακολούθησε, έπεσαν στα χέρια μου αρκετές ιστορίες για τα είδος τους, που με έκαναν σταδιακά να αλλάξω γνώμη. Και όταν είδα το εξώφυλλο του "Indiana Teller" και διάβασα την περίληψη, πίστεψα αρχικά πως θα είχαμε να κάνουμε με μια ακόμα επανάληψη καθώς, πως θα μπορούσε να μου δώσει κάτι το διαφορετικό. Τελικά, αποδείχτηκε ότι είχα λάθος και ο Indianna, έκλεψε την καρδιά μου.

Βρισκόμαστε στην Βόρειο Αμερική, στις πλαγιές των βουνών της Μοντάνα και το ράντζο Λύκος, το οποίο κατοικείται από μια φατρία λυκανθρώπων. Όμως ανάμεσά τους, βρίσκεται ένας άνθρωπος, ο Ιντιάνα Τέλλερ, εγγονός του αρχηγού της αγέλης ο οποίος, δεν κληρονόμησε τα λυκίσια γονίδια του πατέρα του αλλά, τα ανθρώπινα της μητέρας του. Εκεί θα γνωρίσει την Κατερίνα την οποία θα ερωτευτεί κεραυνοβόλα αλλά και τον Τάιλερ, τον γιο του μεγαλύτερου εχθρού του παππού του, την θέση του οποίου προσπαθεί να σφετεριστεί. Ένα παρ' ολίγον θανατηφόρο ατύχημα, θα κάνει τον Ιντιάνα να ανακαλύψει ότι είναι περισσότερα από ένας απλός άνθρωπος και πως η ασφάλεια της φυλής του, είναι πιο εύθραυστη από ποτέ, καλώντας τον να δράσει για να την προστατέψει.

Το βασικό χαρακτηριστικό που έχει ανάγκη μια ιστορία για να κερδίσει τον αναγνώστη, είναι η πρωτοτυπία και αν μη τι άλλο, η ιστορία του Ιντιάνα, έχει μπόλικη από αυτήν. Ο Ιντιάνα δεν είναι το κλασσικό πρότυπο χαρακτήρα που ανακαλύπτει τυχαία την ύπαρξη ενός εντελώς διαφορετικού και μυστηριώδους κόσμου. Αποτελεί τμήμα του, από τη γέννησή του κι όλας και μεγάλωσε μέσα σε αυτόν όντας όμως διαφορετικός. Αν και γιος λύκου, δεν κληρονόμησε τα γονίδια του πατέρα του κατά συνέπεια, είναι ο απόκληρος της φυλής του, ένα πλάσμα κατώτερο που ποτέ κανένας δεν θα δεχτεί απόλυτα και δεν θα αναγνωρίσει την εξουσία που δικαιωματικά θα κλήρονομήσει κάποια στιγμή. Ποτέ δεν θα μπορέσει να γίνει αρχηγός και ηγέτης. Όμως εκείνος, δεν παραδίδει τα όπλα και αγωνίζεται κάθε μέρα να γίνει καλύτερος, όχι μόνο για να κερδίσει την αναγνώριση της φυλής του αλλά, για να μπορεί να προστατέψει τον εαυτό του, μια επιλογή που στην πορεία της ζωής του, θα αποδειχθεί πολύ πιο έξυπνη και χρήσιμη απ' όσο ίσως να μπορούσε ποτέ να πιστέψει. Παρά το γεγονός όμως ότι είναι άνθρωπος, δεν είναι διόλου συνηθισμένος. Δεν θα γίνει ποτέ ένας κανονικός Άλφα και όμως, παρουσιάζει πολλά από τα χαρακτηριστικά ενός από αυτούς. Και εκτός των άλλων, όταν θα βρεθεί στα όρια, θα ανακαλύψει ότι έχει άλλη μια συγκλονιστική ικανότητα η οποία μπορεί να είναι παράλληλα ευχή και κατάρα.

Το ότι η Sophie Audouin- Mamikonian θεωρείται η Rowling της Γαλλίας, δεν είναι διόλου τυχαίο. Τόσο η γραφή της, όσο και η δομή της ιστορίας της, είναι εξαιρετικές. Εστιάζει στην φυλή των λύκων ωστόσο, δεν ακυρώνει την ύπαρξη άλλων φανταστικών πλασμάτων, χωρίς όμως να επικεντρώνεται πάνω τους. Δεν είναι αυτός άλλωστε ο στόχος της. Γι' αυτή οι λύκοι, είναι πλάσματα ξεχωριστά, μοναδικά, όχι μόνο ως προς τη φύση και τις δυνάμεις τους αλλά, ως προς τον τρόπο που έχουν χτίσει την ζωή τους προκειμένου να διαφυλάξουν το μυστικό τους. Υπάρχει μια αγριότητα που χαρακτηρίζει τις συνήθειές τους, που είναι τρομακτική και συνάμα, γοητευτική. Η φατρία λειτουργεί με ένα συγκεκριμένο σύστημα κανόνων γιατί χωρίς αυτούς, ο κόσμος τους μπορεί να καταρρεύσει. Τι γίνεται όμως όταν οι νόμοι αυτοί αποδεικνύονται πολύ σκληροί και άδικοι για να τους ακολουθήσεις; Τι συμβαίνει όταν οι προσωπικές σου επιθυμίες έρχονται σε κόντρα με τους νόμους αυτούς; Θα αντιταχθείς σε όλα όσα διδάχτηκες, στους ανθρώπους που σε γαλούχησαν ή θα ακολουθήσεις την πορεία που καθορίστηκε για 'σένα χωρίς καν να ρωτηθείς; Αυτά, είναι τα μεγάλα ερωτήματα πάνω στα οποία στηρίζεται η δομή αλλά και η εξέλιξη της ιστορίας, με τον Ιντιάνα να πρέπει να επιλέξει την πορεία που θα ακολουθήσει.

Η συγγραφέας συνδυάζει το φανταστικό με το μεταφυσικό στοιχείο, δημιουργώντας ένα εξαιρετικό κράμα που εντυπωσιάζει την πρωτοτυπία του, οδηγώντας σε μια ιστορία που δεν στερείται εκπλήξεων και ανατροπών, από την πρώτη μέχρι την τελευταία σελίδα, κόβοντάς σου την ανάσα με την ένταση των συναισθημάτων που σου προκαλεί. Πάνω απ' όλα όμως, είναι μια ιστορία για την αίσθηση της τιμής και του καθήκοντος εν μέσω ενός παιχνιδιού για τη δύναμη και την εξουσία με έναν τρόπο, που δεν έχουμε δει ποτέ άλλοτε μέσα από την λογοτεχνία του είδους. Ο Ιντιάνα, είναι ένας χαρακτήρας που δεν γίνεται να μην λατρέψετε, που παρά τις θεωρητικές του αδυναμίες, αποδεικνύεται ο πιο δυνατός κρίκος σε έναν αγώνα, σε έναν πόλεμο που μόλις έχει ξεκινήσει. Και το μέλλον είναι αν μη τι άλλο ελπιδοφόρο, όχι για τους ήρωές μας που έχουν να αντιμετωπίσουν πολλές δυσκολίες και αντιξοότητες αλλά για εμάς τους αναγνώστες, που θα περιμένουμε διψασμένοι την συνέχεια, την Άνοιξη του 2013, που ελπίζω να έρθει πιο σύντομα απ' όσο λέει το ημερολόγιό μου. Αν νομίζετε ότι γνωρίζετε τα πάντα γύρω από την φυλή των λύκων, ξανασκεφτείτε το και αναζητήστε το "Ανοιξιάτικο Φεγγάρι" προκειμένου να σας ταξιδέψει σε ένα μαγικό, μοναδικά υπέροχο και συγκλονιστικό ταξίδι.

   Phew, what a long read that was ! And not only because I took a little more than two months to read the book. The setting up of Indiana’s history took a lot of time, and it was only a quarter of the way in that we could finally say that the real story started. And even after that point, it was still slow going. Events unfolded slowly, little by little, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it made the story much longer than it needed to be. In my opinion, this book could have been shortened by between 100 and 200 pages, without losing any of the story.

   As for the characters in general : they were rather well developped, and each had his or her own motivations for doing what he/she did. Their motivations were convincing for me, and I appreciated the depths of the pack matters, the political games and everything. I was a little disappointed by Katerina at the end; I felt there was something in her actions which did not go very well with what we had learned of her since she came on scene. Maybe it’s more so because of the circumstances, which tried to make her into a damsel in distress even though she pushed back against the role. I would have also preferred to have a little more depth with Tyler. And in general, the line between the good guys and the bad guys was too well defined; there was not enough grey area in between them.

   The functioning of the pack was interesting too, especially since we get the point of view of Indiana who is a part of the pack but not really, he is always an outsider to it. The pack and its politics, its games, was interesting, and I would like to know more about how it works, which I expect to come in the next books.

   When the supernatural changes began with Indiana, they were very sudden. The first didn’t have a sufficiently provoking action in my opinion to justify it, while the second was hard-earned (it was a question of life or death after all!). The third was also rather surprising, but it really only made sense after Karl’s explanation (Indiana’s grandfather and the pack leader). At the end of the day, however, what we have with Indiana is not simply a simple human and a time retracer as we had expected, but someone who finds himself with overcharged unexpected super powers, who defies explanation and makes him into a superhero, not just a protagonist or even a regular hero. What’s worse, in my opinion, is that the ease/speed with which Indiana adapted to these changes, and mastered them. Specific example from the end of the book: After Karl’s little revelation, Indiana thinks to himself, “I didn’t like to use my alpha voice…” (page 286), but he ONLY JUST FOUND OUT that he even has an alpha voice, and that he has the power of an alpha in his voice and that even his emotions can affect the pack. And this is one of the first times that he even tries to use it, too! I never got the sense that he had any difficulty adjusting to his new situation, that he had to work at it to get used to it as he had to do with his training with Axel in the beginning of the book. His new circumstances, his new superpowers reminded me a lot of Tara Duncan, the heroine of Mrs. Audouin-Mamikonian’s other series – she also, thanks to her heritage (essentially), finds herself with super-charged powers, which she masters without too much trouble as well.

   And maybe I missed the clue/link, but through the end of the book I still had no idea how Indian knew that it was Brandkel, Tyler’s dad who was behind all the machinations and attempts, and that he was confident enough about his conclusion that he was ready to stand as witness during a werewolf trial. Something that is not without its own risks, as we also saw.

   Despite my complaints about the pacing of the book, the super-powered nature of a character, etc., I did appreciate the book, and I would like to know where the story will go. With a bit of luck, the pacing will go a bit faster now that the characters are well set for action.

   Ouf, c’était long, la lecture ! Et non pas seulement parce que j’ai pris un peu plus de deux mois pour lire ce livre. L’établissement de l’histoire d’Indiana a pris beaucoup de temps, et ce n’était qu’après un quart du livre qu’on peut dire que la vraie intrigue a finalement commencé. Et même après que la vraie histoire a commencé, la lecture était toujours assez longue. Les événements déroulent lentement, petit à petit, ce qui n’est pas forcément un négatif, mais ça a rendu l’histoire beaucoup plus longue que nécessaire. À mon avis, ce livre aurait pu perdre entre 100 et 200 pages, sans avoir rien perdu de la qualité/l’histoire.

   Quant aux personnages en général : assez bien développé, et chacune a ses propres motivations pour faire ce qu’il/elle fait. Leurs motivations était convaincantes pour moi, et j’ai apprécie les profondeurs de l’intrigue de la meute, les enjeux politiques et tout. J’étais un peu déçu par Katerina à la fin, j’ai trouvé qu’il y avait quelque chose dans ses actions qui ne va pas avec ce qu’on connaît d’elle depuis son apparition. Peut-être c’était plutôt à cause de la situation, qui fait d’elle une demoiselle en détresse même si elle résiste à ce rôle. J’aurais préféré aussi d’avoir un peu plus de profondeur avec Tyler. Et en général, les lignes entre les bons et les méchants étaient trop bien défini ; il n’y avait pas beaucoup des espaces gris entre les deux.

   La fonctionnement de la meute était intéressante, surtout parce qu’on a le point de vu d’Indiana qui fait partie de la meute mais pas vraiment, il reste toujours dehors de la meute. La meute et ses politiques, ses enjeux, était intéressante, et j’aimerais savoir plus sur sa fonctionnement, ce que j’attends dans les livres à venir.

   Quand les changements surnaturels a commencé avec Indiana, ils ont était très soudain. Le premier n’a pas eu une incitation assez choquante à mon avis pour le justifier, pendant que le deuxième était bien mérité (question de vie out de mort !). Le troisième était aussi surprenant, mais il a fait du sens surtout après l’explication de Karl (le grand-père d’Indiana et le chef de la meute). À la fin du compte, cependant, ce qu’on a avec Indiana est non-pas un simple humain et un rebrousse-temps comme on avait attendu, mais quelqu’un qui se trouve avec des pouvoirs surpuissants et inattendus, qui défie explication et qui fait de lui un super-héro, non seulement un protagoniste ou même un héro normal. Encore pire, à mon avis, est la rapidité avec laquelle Indiana s’est habitué à ces changements, et les a maîtrisé. Exemple précis de la fin du livre : Après la révélation de Karl, Indiana pense à lui-même : « Je n'aimais pas utiliser ma voix d'alpha... » (page 286), mais il VIENT DE CONNAÎTRE qu’il a une voix d’alpha, qu’il a la puissance d’un alpha dans sa voix et que même ses sentiments pourraient influencer la meute. Et c’est une des premiers fois qu’il tente à l’utiliser, en plus. Il n’y avait pas vraiment un sens qu’il a dû mal à s’habituer à sa nouvelle situation, qu’il a vraiment du travailler pour s’y habituer comme il a dû faire avec ses entrainements avec Axel au début du livre. Sa nouvelle situation, ses nouveaux pouvoirs m’avait fait penser beaucoup à Tara Duncan, l’héroïne de l’autre séries de Mme Audouin-Mamikonian – elle aussi, grâce à son héritage (essentiellement), elle se trouve avec des pouvoirs surpuissants, et lesquels elle maîtrise sans beaucoup de soucis aussi.

   Et peut-être que j’ai raté le lien, mais jusqu’à la fin du livre je n’ai pas déterminé comment Indiana a su que c’était Brandkel, le père de Tyler qui était derrière toutes les machinations et tentatives, qu’il l’a su avec assez d’assurance qu’il était prêt à être le témoigne pendant un procès de loups-garous. Chose qui n’est pas sans risque, comme on avait vu aussi.

   Malgré mes plaintes avec le rythme du livre, la surpuissance de quelqu’un, etc., j’ai apprécie le livre, et j’aimerais savoir où l’histoire ira dans la suite. Avec un peu de la chance, le rythme ira plus vite, maintenant que tous nos personnages sont bien placés pour agir.

   Il aurait tué Axel sans hésiter, mais l’argent ne représentait rien à ses yeux. Ce n’était qu’un moyen. Pas une fin. – page 44

-Utilisation de 'professeure' -- page 251 – ah, la féminisation de la langue française !

-"c'est comme si on avait été préparés à ce genre de révélation. Je veux dire, notre génération..." -- page 361 – j’apprécie cette reconnaissance méta du texte, elle le rende plus réaliste.

-[Son oreille] repousserait, une fois le poison de l’argent neutralisé… -- Page 389-- intéressant, que les loups-garous pourraient même repousser les parties découpées de leurs corps…

Manque de cohérence :
PG 178: Pourquoi les loups n’arrivent pas à sentir la différence entre les sangs d’Indiana et Tyler? Un est un loup-garou !

Ποτέ δεν θα μπορέσει να γίνει αρχηγός και ηγέτης. Όμως εκείνος, δεν παραδίδει τα όπλα και αγωνίζεται κάθε μέρα να γίνει καλύτερος, όχι μόνο για να κερδίσει την αναγνώριση της φυλής του αλλά, για να μπορεί να προστατέψει τον εαυτό του, μια επιλογή που στην πορεία της ζωής του, θα αποδειχθεί πολύ πιο έξυπνη και χρήσιμη απ' όσο ίσως να μπορούσε ποτέ να πιστέψει. Και εκτός των άλλων, όταν θα βρεθεί στα όρια, θα ανακαλύψει ότι έχει άλλη μια συγκλονιστική ικανότητα η οποία μπορεί να είναι παράλληλα ευχή και κατάρα.

Το ότι η Sophie Audouin- Mamikonian θεωρείται η Rowling της Γαλλίας, δεν είναι διόλου τυχαίο. Τόσο η γραφή της, όσο και η δομή της ιστορίας της, είναι εξαιρετικές. Εστιάζει στην φυλή των λύκων ωστόσο, δεν ακυρώνει την ύπαρξη άλλων φανταστικών πλασμάτων, χωρίς όμως να επικεντρώνεται πάνω τους. Δεν είναι αυτός άλλωστε ο στόχος της. Γι' αυτή οι λύκοι, είναι πλάσματα ξεχωριστά, μοναδικά, όχι μόνο ως προς τη φύση και τις δυνάμεις τους αλλά, ως προς τον τρόπο που έχουν χτίσει την ζωή τους προκειμένου να διαφυλάξουν το μυστικό τους. Υπάρχει μια αγριότητα που χαρακτηρίζει τις συνήθειές τους, που είναι τρομακτική και συνάμα, γοητευτική. Η φατρία λειτουργεί με ένα συγκεκριμένο σύστημα κανόνων γιατί χωρίς αυτούς, ο κόσμος τους μπορεί να καταρρεύσει. Τι γίνεται όμως όταν οι νόμοι αυτοί αποδεικνύονται πολύ σκληροί και άδικοι για να τους ακολουθήσεις; Τι συμβαίνει όταν οι προσωπικές σου επιθυμίες έρχονται σε κόντρα με τους νόμους αυτούς; Θα αντιταχθείς σε όλα όσα διδάχτηκες, στους ανθρώπους που σε γαλούχησαν ή θα ακολουθήσεις την πορεία που καθορίστηκε για 'σένα χωρίς καν να ρωτηθείς; Αυτά, είναι τα μεγάλα ερωτήματα πάνω στα οποία στηρίζεται η δομή αλλά και η εξέλιξη της ιστορίας, με τον Ιντιάνα να πρέπει να επιλέξει την πορεία που θα ακολουθήσει.

Η συγγραφέας συνδυάζει το φανταστικό με το μεταφυσικό στοιχείο, δημιουργώντας ένα εξαιρετικό κράμα που εντυπωσιάζει την πρωτοτυπία του, οδηγώντας σε μια ιστορία που δεν στερείται εκπλήξεων και ανατροπών, από την πρώτη μέχρι την τελευταία σελίδα, κόβοντάς σου την ανάσα με την ένταση των συναισθημάτων που σου προκαλεί. Πάνω απ' όλα όμως, είναι μια ιστορία για την αίσθηση της τιμής και του καθήκοντος εν μέσω ενός παιχνιδιού για τη δύναμη και την εξουσία με έναν τρόπο, που δεν έχουμε δει ποτέ άλλοτε μέσα από την λογοτεχνία του είδους. Ο Ιντιάνα, είναι ένας χαρακτήρας που δεν γίνεται να μην λατρέψετε, που παρά τις θεωρητικές του αδυναμίες, αποδεικνύεται ο πιο δυνατός κρίκος σε έναν αγώνα, σε έναν πόλεμο που μόλις έχει ξεκινήσει. Spring Moon is about Indiana Teller, the sole human raised in a werewolf pack. Indiana waits in vain for his shift to come about but has to face the hard truth that he is just a human among many wolves. He sets out for college hoping to be of some use to his pack. Where he encounters the lovely Katerina and tries desperately not to fall in love with her, on pack orders. But games are afoot as weird occurances begin and Indiana must get to the bottom of them before he or his loved ones are hurt.

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love werewolf books. Something about the pack dynamic. The fact that the wolves need and feed off one another's emotions and states of minds. It's all just fascinating to me. I especially love when one member of the pack doesn't fit, as is the case with Indiana. He's a part of the pack, yet separate from it. The wolves look down upon him for being a mere human.

Spring Moon is a great book. It has a ton of different aspects to it. There's the supernatural aspect of the wolves, romance between Indy and Kat and the mystery of the accident and other occurances surrounding Indiana and his friends. It was a very good mix of these three. I never felt as if the book was dragging or that there were unnecessary parts.

I also really enjoyed the time-tracker race. It was a really interesting and new concept of supernatural creature that I haven't really come across before. I'm interested in reading the next books in this series as to learn more about these time-trackers. I didn't really understand their full powers. Maybe I'm just not reading the book as clearly as I should be but to me, the time-tracker explanations were somewhat lacking. Though perhaps that is purposeful and as the series progresses we'll find out more about this new species.

There were a lot of different characters in Spring Moon and I was a little concerned that I might have trouble keeping each of them straight. But Audouin-Mamikonian did an extremely wonderful job on keeping each characters voice very individualized and I had no problem following who was who.

Spring Moon is a fast, fun supernatural read set in an intriguing world and I look forward to reading future books in the Indiana Teller series.

I picked up this book for two reasons, which are not my general ones: the first is because it's written by a princess. That is just too random to not peak my curiosity :) And second because it takes place at the University of Montana (UM), which is where I am a professor. I couldn't help but be curious how she portrayed it. (And, I've set a novel here myself!) Anyhow, the story itself was a great deal of fun, with quite a few twists and turns. I liked the way the world of the wolves was set up, with all its intricacies and power mongering. There were a few slip-ups in terms of the Montana climate (definitely no mosquitoes in November or stuff like that--all minor, but I couldn't help but notice), and at times I did find myself wondering if something was lost in the dialogue's translation. But, overall, a fun read. Seeing as how I can't read French, I guess I'll have to wait until the rest of the series is translated :)

And if the Princess ever wants to know what the UM campus is like in person, I'd be happy to show her around (lol, hey, worth a shot, right? :).

I ended up DNF'ing this book. I just wasn't the book for me. It starts with one big info dump and then changes to a telling of the main characters past and I just didn't care. There is a lot of telling instead of showing and I didn't like the writing style.

C'est le premier livre fantastique que je lis. Ce livre m'a bcp plu contrairement à ce que j'aurais penser. L'histoire est bien ficelé et pleine d'action.Par contre, je n'ai pas réussi à vraiment m'attacher aux personnages de Indiana et de Katerina ce qui est dommage étant donné que ce sont les personnages principaux. Sinon l'histoire est intéressante, on s'y plonge facilement.

Voilà voilà, les loups-garous n'étant pas mon fort, c'est un peu à tâtons que j'ai entamé cette lecture.
Finalement, je suis assez contente de cette découverte car ça a été une lecture agréable même si certains côtés m'ont un peu fait lever les yeux au ciel de temps à autre : le côté pataud et un brin boulet du héros entre autres et la petite romance adolescente centrale (même si heureusement elle est entourée de pas mal d'aspects beaucoup plus intéressants, comme les différentes "sortes" de loups, l'impact politique des loups, le côté mystérieux des rebrousse-temps, le statut particulier des semis, les pouvoirs des alphas). Bref, c'est un roman à l'univers assez riche.
Les personnages sont assez proches des héros de Young adult et le roman ne déroge pas à certaines règles qui me hérissent un peu, notamment le triangle amoureux...
Sans surprise, je me suis beaucoup plus attachée aux personnages secondaires qu'au trio d'ados, même si Indiana ne manque pas de sel, j'aime son humour qui m'a fait penser par certains côtés à Jasper de la série "A comme association", il est mignonnet et attachant dans ces attitudes. La mère d'Indiana est un des personnages que j'ai préféré avec sa "mère adoptive" Nanny, deux femmes blessées et à part, ainsi qu'Axel dont le développement est assez intrigant.
Le style est simple. Il y a pas mal d'actions et ce qui démarre comme un roman d'apprentissage se tisse peu à peu de luttes politiques intestines.
Un bon bilan car ce premier tome m'a donné envie de lire la suite, le fin appelant le second tome, mais je n'enchaînerai de peur de faire une overdose d'amourette adolescente.

Spring Moon surprised me in the best way. I went in expecting a solid continuation, but what I got was a book that feels richer, deeper, and far more emotionally mature than the first installment. For me, the real magic of this story lies in the characters — they are not just well written; they’re genuinely alive.

What struck me the most was how naturally everyone grows. It doesn’t feel forced or dramatic just for the sake of drama. Instead, the characters evolve in believable, realistic ways that reflect trauma, loyalty, family pressure, romantic confusion, and the struggle to find your own place in a world that expects too much from you.

Indiana especially feels like someone you can relate to. He’s flawed, makes mistakes, but he’s trying — and that effort makes him incredibly human despite the supernatural setting. His inner conflicts feel so real that at times I almost forgot I was reading fantasy.

And I have to say, the development of the romantic tensions is one of the most satisfying parts. It’s never rushed or cheesy — it’s slow, emotional, and layered, and it stays anchored in character psychology rather than clichés.

Overall, Spring Moon feels like a book written by someone who knows exactly who her characters are, what they fear, what they desire, and how they grow. That’s what made it so special for me. I came for the plot, but I stayed because I genuinely cared about every single person on the page.

My first thought when picking up this book from my local library was "I'm probably gonna read a repetition of the same story about werewolves". If the case was different I might've not picked it up, but I was in a terrible book slump and really needed to read something, even if I was not sure I was gonna like it.

If that's the case, I love being wrong.

This was so good, the plot, the characters, the writing. Now I want the next book!!!

Spring Moon is pretty darn awesome! It's definitely not just another YA paranormal book. It follows Indiana Teller (yep, he's named after Indiana Jones) as he struggles to find his place in werewolf society and the human world, and as he develops a very rare power that he has. Despite being born into the most powerful family of werewolves, Indiana is just human. However, there was the possibility that he'd become a time-tracker like his mother. But at the age of eighteen, his grandparents have essentially given up on him since he hasn't displayed any paranormal abilities, and they let him go off to college. Unfortunately for Indiana, college doesn't let him escape from werewolf politics. There's a war brewing as another werewolf challenges his grandfather to be the Lord of Wolves, and Indiana happens to go to school with his son.

I wasn't sure about Spring Moon in the beginning. I was excited about the idea of werewolves and time travel, but that doesn't really pick up until later. The first several chapters are a huge info-dump as Indiana gives us a run through of his entire life story. While it was nice to get so much information about the world and our narrator, it was a bit too much all at once, and I kept wondering about who Indiana is now. There's also way too many details that weren't necessary. We get the ages, heights, weights, hair color, and eye color for just about everyone in Indiana's family. I don't know why we needed to know all this. I also noticed a few inconsistencies, such as Indiana mentioning that his hair is blonde with black tips, then later it's red like his mother, then back to being blonde. He also says he knows nothing about fashion, and yet he knows about lamé dresses and snoods. Kind of strange. This all may be due to me reading an ARC, but it didn't effect my enjoyment of the book anyway.

One thing that stood out to me about Spring Moon was that it combines a lot of really interesting elements and puts a spin on a few typical YA tropes. I'll start with the romance. Indiana immediately falls in love with a human girl, Katerina, when he gets to the university. Yeah, yeah, I know, insta-love is lame. But he doesn't act on it. He's forbidden from being with a human, because it's still possible that his dormant wolf genes can pass on if he mates with a she-wolf. Indiana and Katerina become great friends though. There's also the issue of Tyler, who is the son of the wolf trying to take over. I expected him to be a super jerk, since his father is evil and all, but nope. He's pretty normal, but he's also in love with Katerina, so there is some rivalry there. A love triangle where our narrator isn't the center? Amazing! Also, Katerina has no idea about anything paranormal, and she doesn't randomly become the most awesome paranormal being ever. She's just a human girl, trying to get her degree.

The werewolf war plot is the focus of Spring Moon, which was a little disappointing since I wanted to know more about Indiana's time-tracker abilities. His ability does come out as a result of stress from the war though. I didn't really get a sense of how it works, but we do learn a bit about it when it comes to Indiana's mother. But the plot was still engaging. The last quarter of the book is really intense and action packed as all of the evil plans and betrayals come out. Werewolves have extremely strict laws in place and a quite extensive history, so there's a lot going on as laws are broken and history seems to be repeating itself. There is a major twist at the end, and a cliffhanger, so I can't wait to see what happens next!

Have you ever read a book that you weren’t sure about when you started, but got better as you went along? That’s exactly my experience with Spring Moon. I liked Indiana but there was a lot of him ‘telling’ his story in the beginning, not much experiencing. As the story progressed either I got more comfortable with the author’s writing style or everything started to flow better. To be honest it could have been a little of both.

Indiana was an outcast, kind of. He lived with a pack of werewolves. His father was a werewolf, but his mother was something else. From the time he was very young he lived with his grandparents – who I didn’t really like very much until I was almost to the end of the book. I don’t think that was just me though. There was a lot going on in Spring Moon and there was also a lot hidden. There was sneaking around, betrayal and lots and lots of secrets.

I liked the author’s werewolf / paranormal mythology. It was fresh, yet familiar. Her characters were interesting and each one had their own unique personality traits. There was also a lot of growth in this story, mainly by Indiana himself. He was definitely not the same character at the end of the book as we met during his monologue in the beginning. I liked the character that he became and I loved the reactions of the characters that weren’t expecting the change.

There were times that Spring Moon was hard to follow and it’s definitely a book that I am going to have to go back and read again. Especially before US readers get a chance to read the rest of the books in this series. Even if I hadn’t done a little research, I would have known at the end of Spring Moon that there were more books. Can you say ‘cliff hanger?’ Yep, you’ve been warned.

Basically, this is a series with potential and I’m anxious to see where the story goes. The fate of more than a few characters were left hanging at the end, but there were also some serious mysteries that I can’t wait to discover the answers to.

Something lost in translation...

My taste in reading varies but always comes back to supernatural elements. When the opportunity to rose to give SPRING MOON a read I quickly dismissed it. But if there's one thing that I have a hard time turning down it's stories set in the state I've lived in for most of my life. I figured if anyone could give it a fair examination it would be the gal who likes supernatural and Young Adult fiction that lives in the area the story takes place.

Alas, from the get-go I found that there was just something foreign about it. I've read translations before—this was originally in French—and found a similar issue sometimes. Perhaps it's because I know our culture here intimately, and I tried to excuse it with thoughts like "well, if you were a supernatural raised in a secluded, secretive community..." but I just never got past it. I was disappointed in the little things like the lack of attention to our climate (December is usually very cold, we were subzero for the past 6 days for example), culture (Missoula is kind of known as the hippie town), and well, we call it U-of-M and constantly seeing it said "UM" was driving me crazy.

The werewolves and other creatures (for lack of a better word) in the world of the Indiana Teller series are quite unique. It was the main saving grace of the story. That, and some of the secondary characters. Indiana himself, was a bit of a tough sell as the narrator for me. He just wasn't very likable and I never could figure out what made Katerina bother with him, let alone like him. I did, however, like Chuck a lot.

It's action-packed, has a solid amount of mystery and a story arc that will make for a strong series but the things I didn't like about it kept me from really enjoying it as a whole. I think if you're looking for something to appeal to a teenaged reluctant reader they might really enjoy this one. It's has romance, some humor, and is well paced. If you're an adult YA fan with tastes similar to my own you should probably give it a pass.

First let me say, I’ve read my fair share of werewolf books and they haven’t impressed me. I signed up for this ARC because I was intrigued by the author. A book written by a real princess ? I couldn’t pass that up. Pair that with a refreshing storyline and a YA book that’s written from a male perspective, and you have an extraordinary read.

Audouin-Mamikonian keeps you on the edge of your seat with this book. From power struggles to bittersweet love, this story captivates you. As the grandson of one of the most prominent members of the werewolf community, Indian Teller grows up an outcast in a power hungry world, because he is a mere human living among strong and powerful wolves. After being picked on for years, he befriends a semi-werewolf (what we believed to be normal werewolves) who trains Indiana to defend himself.

Strange events start to happen the moment Indian steps out of the security of the werewolf ranch. The people he loves are in peril and he finds out he inherited something mysterious from his mother. So mysterious, that if anyone found out, his own life will be in more danger than he initially thought it was.

We see two groups of the same race come to odds with each other and two unlikely races banding together. It’s fast-paced and mesmerizing and the trace of forbidden love makes the story so much more compelling. The saying goes that nice guys always finish last, which is completely wrong in this case. The ending did leave me wanting, but not in a bad way. I’m looking forward to reading more of Indiana Teller and all the tragedy that is sure to come.
