A must have book for all Barnesy and Chisel fans! The book may be over 15 years old now, but still a good fun read!

"I read this book so long ago I had forgotten so I gave it a quick re-read. I say quick because it is a light read of one of Australia's favourite sons.

Hardly known outside of Australia, Jimmy is a huge icon here. From his days leading Cold Chisel through his solo career and many duets. Massive success teaming up with Tina Turner to remake her hit The Best and the title track to the movie Working Class Man starring Michael Keaton. Also two great songs, Good Times and Laying Down The Law in conjunction with INXS for the Lost Boys soundtrack.

A feel good book about the Scottish migrant who came to Australia as a young boy with his family. He and his brother John Swan kicking around with some of Australia's rockers including Fraternity and a fledgling
AC/DC before Jim found success with Cold Chisel.

Chisel, a five piece outfit, were unique. They supplied Australia's pub scene with hard rock from the mid seventies through to the early eighties. Unique because all five members wrote hit singles, there was no one solitary songwriter. Jimmy ' s songs always heavier and louder - Rising Sun, You Got Nothing I want etc were the foreground for his solo career.

The book traces his early years through success with chisel and a solo artist. A hard life story turned good but probably leaves out a bit we know about now. Nothing surprising in here for a fan but a good read anyway."

Toby Creswell, “Jimmy Barnes: Too Much Ain't Enough” (Random House, 1993)

Insightful look into Barnesy, his early life, his (full) brother John Swan, Barnesy's early days in rural Australia in the 1970's, and his brawling bust ups with Steve Prestwich, especially the hilarious story in Auckland.
