Returning the Spear of Telesto to Baal after the conclusion of the Blood Angels civil war, newly-promoted Sergeant Rafen finds himself the subject of Astorath the Grim's attentions. The mysterious high chaplain suspects that Rafen has fallen foul of the Chapter's curse, the Black Rage, and will go to any lengths to prove it, even if that leads to Rafen's death.

Read it because
Astorath the Grim is the final judge of who lives and dies in the Blood Angels. His word is law, and he’s not too keen on Brother Rafen… That doesn’t seem like it’s going to end well.

Good stort story. Rafen returns successful from the battle with his fallen brother, but faces a sterner test in the face of the grim Executioner Astorath.

Rafen facing the close scrutiny of Astorath The Grim, The Redeemer of the lost.

The Spear of Telestos is put into storage in the reliquiary of the Blood Angels after its adventure in the hands of Akios and Rafen. As this is done, Astorath appears to study the artifact as well as Rafen and if it had any impact upon him, should the answers not be to the High Chaplains liking, Rafen will be redeemed at the end of his execuioners axe.

I liked this story. It showed also nicely how the change has started in Rafen since his last ordeals.
