I am a full time mother and part time writer. I live in a small country town in Victoria Australia. I have been writing ever since I learned to read, and almost endlessly drifting off into the fantasy world of my imagination.

Thankfully, I have a great group of supporting writer friends; a husband and three; currently small children who help keep me grounded.

When I’m not day dreaming of creating new worlds for my stories or madly typing away on my laptop. I have plenty to keep me busy on the home front.

I liked it and I didn't. a 2.5 stars story.

Mixed love here. The storyline sounded interesting enough I just couldn't bring myself to love much the characters.

An interesting idea about a world of music where the balance is kept through a song. So, the heroine is abducted, escapes and starts working in a tavern. She was abducted because of her voice/ potential to be the New Nightingale of the Emperor.
While she is attending to the tables she sings and that attracts the disguised Emperor to her. As usual with Angela Castle stories, there is an insta-love/ lust but soon all disappears because there is a New Nightingale.

Now here is the time when, cue "eye rolling" the Emperor just gives up on his love and gets attached to the new nightingale to the point of marriage. That got me say "really?" and lose interest.
The writing was ok but the way everything resolved left me puzzled and confused. The HEA did nothing to squeeze a higher rating from me and there are not so many good things to say about the plot.
I liked the idea that sparked the book but the delivery failed to impress me.

Would I read another book if this becomes a series? I am not that sure. Can I recommend the story? Well, if you are looking to pass your time and have no other books in your library, why not.

It was ok. Short. You would think in a place where music is magical, they would have learned what made powerful magic. To ignore it is like they want something weak instead of powerful.
Orin grew up knowing what to look for in his Empress & Nightingale, he should have followed his heart no matter what other people think but he didn't & he knew Julie was insecure yet he believed her rejection without a 2nd thought. Dumbass.

It was ok. Short. Like Julie's scenes with Trall & Julie saving the day with exposing the evil bitch & forcing the Lord of Shadow back where he belongs, in darkness.

I quite enjoyed this lighthearted, sweet little novella. I finished it off this morning in one sitting. I liked the world the heroine was abducted to. I found it lovely thinking about a world that revolved around music. I liked the characters in the story enough that I would like to read more about them.

The heroine becomes friends with the owner of the song tavern she ends up working in and I can quite easily see a book being built around him. He seems like he has quite an interesting back story that was merely hinted at here and I think it could be delved into and expanded into a full length book that would be a prequel to this story and yet continue on after this story ends.

The story is short enough that there was 'insta' love between the hero and heroine because there wasn't time for anything else. Angela sure did pack a lot of excitement into this little gem and I'm left looking forward to reading more. I recommend this story to anyone who likes light sci-fi and a bit of 'afternoon delight'.

This is pretty much what I've come to expect from this author. It was short but well written and a good read. I really do enjoy Angela Castle's books but I wish they were a little bit longer. I finished this book in a single sitting which is always a little disappointing. The book isn't expensive so I don't feel ripped off. It's just like the difference between a tiny little sliver of chocolate cake and a whole whopping great cake. I'd rather pay a little more and get a little more.

As usual, the characters were easy to like, the writing flowed easily, and the story was a good one. I enjoyed the story and I'd love to read something a little longer from this author.

not a bad book. but... the H was, at one point, saying he will give up the kingdom for the h, and the next moment, when the low-selfesteemed h trots out a line about the kingdom needing him or whatever, he decides to marry the (fake) nightingale who made the (fake) rock change color.

seriously? if he was that duty conscious, he should've kept his dick in his pants while waiting for his empress. be consistent in character. unless of course, this was his character; to have the best of all worlds...

I liked this book. It had a good story line and interesting characters. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because I felt like the book could have been longer. But I would totally read another book if the author wrote another one.

Good, sexy story but predictable. Still, a pleasant read with interesting characters.

Orin knows what he wants and is not afraid to go for it. Julie takes a journey she never anticipated, in more ways than one. Sweet and sexy.

Completely original story idea. It was funny, attention grabbing, and a HEA ending.
