** Allegiant by Sara Mack is the second novel in The Guardian Trilogy. It is not affiliated with the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. **
Last summer, Emma discovered that true love never dies. It can return. It can give you hope. It can pull you from darkness.
Until it’s ripped from you. Again.
As her 22nd birthday approaches, Emma Donohue finds herself back at school and utterly alone. Hours away from family and friends, her solitary days are spent contemplating what never should have been. James should never have died, but he did. He should never have been assigned as her Guardian, but he was. And she should never have allowed Dane to get too close to her heart.
But she failed.
Desperate to fill her time, Emma is intrigued by her mysterious new neighbor, Garrett. She’s never met anyone quite like him before, and, curious, she attempts to discover his past. Little does she know his presence will pull her into a world she could never imagine. A world that follows an ancient doctrine. A world built on loyalty, yet plagued by secrets and lies.
A world that will threaten everything – and everyone – she loves.
Allegiant is the second story in The Guardian Trilogy. The third novel, Reborn, is complete and due to be published in February 2014.
Sara Mack grew up with her nose in books and most notably got caught reading Flowers in the Attic behind her Trapper Keeper in the 8th grade during social studies. Twenty years ago, she married the guy she met at the gas station and now has two kids, two pups, and two fish. Sara has an unnatural affinity for iced tea, dark chocolate, bacon, and true crime docs. Writes paranormal, contemporary, and YA romance. Reads everything.
If you have not read Guardian, the first book in The Guardian Trilogy, you MUST read it as soon as possible! Guardian is one of THE best books I have read all year. I fell in love with the story of college student Emma trying to deal with the loss of her boyfriend James who was killed in a car accident and meeting Dane; who helps Emma move on. James is still present in Emma’s life as he comes back to visit her but the ending left you with the biggest cliff hanger ever, like I wanted to throw my kindle across the room! I could not wait to get my hands on Allegiant to find out what is next.
Warning:Review contains spoilers if you have not read the first book Guardian in the trilogy.
I really am afraid to say too much in my review and ruin Allegiant for you. It is full of surprise and suspense. I want you to experience your jaw dropping like I did while reading, especially at the end!
Allegiant felt completely different then Guardian but also felt exactly the same. I know…. that does not make sense but I will try and explain. In Guardian, I felt the book was more romance then paranormal. Yes, James is a ghost who visits Emma and the two try to continue on with their relationship as much as they can privately but at the same time Emma meets Dane and he wants to be part of her life; they both develop feelings for one another. I was in tears while reading Guardian and felt so sad for James & Emma, even Dane. Allegiant however was more paranormal then romance this time around; I was totally okay with this because reading about guardians, wards, and the allegiant was really intriguing. What makes it the same is the story is still amazing, the writing is phenomenal and the characters are exactly how you remember them.
At the end of Guardian, the author left us with a nasty cliff hanger that James was assigned to be Emma’s guardian and can no longer be in love with her. Emma tells him to stay away so he can try to stop loving her, if the Allegiant finds out he loves his ward they will erase his memory and they both do not want that to happen. This is where Allegiant picks up. It has been a few weeks since they learned James is now her Guardian but he has returned to Emma’s life and the two pick back up their relationship. I still would sometimes forget James is a ghost because it felt so normal their time together. We also get to know Garrett, Emma’s new neighbor who plays a major part in the book. We learn some things about Dane that will totally surprise you. In fact that is one of my favorite things about Allegiant; I was not expecting how the story played out, especially the end. I was in complete shock. Oh my, the end… another nasty cliff hanger! There is an excerpt of Reborn the third and final book in the trilogy that will hold you over a little. I can’t wait to read Reborn but at the same time I do not want this trilogy to end!
Allegiant is told in Emma’s POV, I would have loved to read certain scenes in the POV of Dane and James to know what they were thinking, especially Dane. I loved how James would pop up and surprise Emma while she was out with Dane (who couldn’t see him) it was funny how jealous James became and how Emma would react while trying to not let Dane know what was going on. I laughed out loud.
As I said above, Allegiant is definitely more paranormal romance then Guardian. There are a lot of new characters introduced who are important and play a major role in James’ world and to the story. I really enjoyed understanding more of what Guardians and Wards are and what exactly the Allegiant’s purpose is. There is still plenty of romance but I am just glad I was not in tears throughout reading. I was able to really enjoy the story since it was a bit more complex.
I still can’t get over the ending and what this will mean for book three, Reborn. I just know I must have it soon because I want Emma to have a HEA somehow. After reading Allegiant I still do not know who I want her to be with. I know she loves James but Dane is something special too. She is so lucky to have two men who really love and care for her. The ending just left me even more confused… you will understand why!
Sara Mack writes an amazing, special, brilliant story I want everyone to read. The Guardian Trilogy is truly one of the best paranormal series I have EVERread. Allegiant did not disappoint, it was just as amazing as Guardian just in different ways.
I give Allegiant (The Guardian Trilogy #2) 5 STARS!
ARC provided by the author in return for an honest review.
Let me start by saying that Sara Mack has solidified her spot in my list of favorite authors. This lady is amazing! And this series is amazing too! Sara's writing easily evokes emotions that puts you right into the story and makes you fall in love with the characters.
Guardian ended with a crazy cliffhanger and I couldn't wait to get my hands on Allegiant. The story picks up pretty much where it ended and doesn't miss a beat. The story of Emma and her friends grabs hold of you and doesn't let go. Allegiant is full of suspense, action, and romance. This book takes a more paranormal turn than Guardian did. We learn more about the Guardians and their world and are introduced to the Allegiant. Emma and James are still struggling with their current situation and Dane is still waiting in the wings for Emma. Allegiant also introduces us to some new characters who bring their own drama to the story.
I don't want to give away what happens in the story because I don't want to spoil it for anyone. If you liked Guardian, you will love Allegiant. If you haven't read it, do yourself a favor and pick it up today. I fell in love with this series and am impatiently waiting for the third book, Reborn, to come out in 2014. Thank you, Sara Mack, for sharing your wonderful writing with the world!
THANKS!!!!! Yep... Thank you VERY much for deciding to write!
I was so super happy read Allegiant.
I COULD.NOT.STAND.TO.WAIT to find out what happens with my favorite book boyfriend...... DANE!
Sadly, I did not get my HEA in Allegiant.... dang cliffhangers!
I did like all the new characters that you get to meet in Allegiant and the insight into James' new life and people around him. Since I am so team DANE - there is a certain someone that was my favorite new James "friend" :)
I read this book faster than I read Guardian! I couldn't put it down!
Allegiant left me wanting more thanks to a cliffhanger ending! We still don't know if Emma will move on to be with someone else, like Dane or if she will remain wanting to be with James. Emma goes through many ups in downs with James and Dane wanting to be in her life. Jealousy causes many issues amongst the three of them. I can't wait to see what's choice Emma makes whether she will choice James, Dane or neither of them to continue being a part of her life. I can't wait for the last book in this The Guardian Trilogy! This is a must read but start with the first book Guardian!
This is the second book in this series. It has been a long time since I read the first one but I could easily pick up where the first one left off. I absolutely loved this one as much as I loved the first one.Emma is back at school trying to deal with missing James. But in reality James is right there in her life. She is trying to get through every day one step at a time. I absolutely love her relationship friendship love affair with Dane. There is just something about these two being together. This one was just as intense as the first one. I cant wait to read the next one in this series and see what happens with Emma. The ending of this book had me in tears wanting to know what was going to happen to Emma, James and Dane. Just intense from the beginning to the end. Amazingly written. I love Sara's writing
(THANK YOU to the wonderful Sara Mack for allowing me to read an ARC of Allegiant!)
Do you know that book that will have you going from one emotion to the next in a blink of an eye? Yeah? Well that's exactly what Allegiant does. I have never gone through so many mixed emotions while reading a book. One minute I was smiling and swooning and the other I wanted to fling my Kindle to the other side of the room. That's to say that I actually enjoyed Allegiant much more than its predecessor! If I was to say everything I wanted to in this review we would be here forever so I'm going to give you the abbreviated version. Here we go!
The story starts off a couple of days after Emma has returned back to school at WMC. She is in a slightly better mental state and is enthusiastic about starting school again. Her best friend Shel is back home and Emma finds herself sad and alone. When Garrett, her new neighbor, stumbles into her life she starts up a friendship that allows her to have some semblance of a “social” life and also someone to talk too. But no matter how much Emma tries to get back to her normal life, the disappearance of James and the animosity between Dane and she, has her in turmoil. A turmoil that actually makes her a much better character in Allegiant. She did have moments where I wanted to strangle her but I think that she also finally starts to heal from her loss and to see that she has options and a choice.
This leads me to Dane. *sigh* I just can’t say how much I adore Dane. He has been on my BB(book boyfriend) list since Guardian and in Allegiant rises a spot up. :D After being spurned by Emma and asked to stay away Dane does just that. He allows her to discover her feelings for him by herself. But it doesn’t mean that he stops fighting because he never does that. He settles on being her friend and hoping that one day she realizes her feelings for him are mutual. When Emma needs him the most there is never any doubt that he would care for her. Even if caring for her puts him in danger, again, Dane comes to the rescue and saves the women he loves. And Dane does have his “I want to strangle you” moment. Just one of course. :D But I also think that that moment was also very beneficial to him in the long run because his competition is intent on not going away.
This brings us to James... After figuring out a way to hide from The Allegiant, James returns and is determined to stay with Emma. He refuses to think of her moving on and refuses to let go of her. So they return back to their lovey dovey romance and everything is peachy for the time being. But all isn’t great in paradise because the stronger he becomes as a Guardian the harder it is to battle through jealousy, insecurity, rising danger, and new desires.
One thing is certain, The Guardians are divided and Emma is caught in the middle of their war. As we continue the story of these three we learn more about The Guardians and The Allegiant and just what is going on in James new world.
We also have the addition of great secondary characters. Shel and Matt are back and are as adorable as ever! Garrett takes precedent in this book and is surprisingly a wonderful character. More Guardians are introduced and unknown characters revealed, that will wreak havoc.
Don’t miss out on the continuation of The Guardian Trilogy! Pick up your copy NOW!
Whoosh! Okay I think that was pretty abbreviated. No? Well I tried. :D Visit my website to enter the GIVEAWAY Christina's BookReviews !!
Okay so Sara Mack is a genius. It's been a few days since I've finished this book and I'm still not over how amazing it is. She created such a beautiful story and amazing characters.
"I don't want you to be miserable," he says quietly. "Tell me what I can do. I'll be whatever you need." "You can't," I mumble against him. "Try me." "Can you be my home?" I ask into his chest. It's a silly request and one that doesn't quite make sense. He squeezes me tightly and doesn't even question it. "Absolutely."
Eeeeeeeeeeeeppppppp! I was jumping around all over my room *SPOILER ALERT* because Emma finally let her self really love Dane. And I love them together. Before she would tell her self that it was only James, forever and always. But I really think that if James was never her Guardian, she would've moved on a lot faster.
So in this book, it pretty much starts off where Guardian ended. Emma has just moved into an apartment close to the college and she has 4 "house mates", its an old house they sectioned off into apartments. And the one right down the hall from her is Garrett, the same Garrett that was James' Guardian. He is now human, kinda. He's trying to become human again and hide it from the Allegiant at the same time. Before Emma finds out who he really is, they become close friends and I loved, LOVED there friendship so much. Of course when she finds out who he really is, things between them change but I really hope they can get back to where they were before. James comes in and out of her life a lot in this book. Now that he is her Guardian he can't love her, he has to find a way to move on, so he's been trying to stay away from her unless she's truly in danger.
I stand, impressed. "Do you treat all the girls you save from the supernatural this way?" He grins. "Only you, baby. Only you."
Dane. Oh I love Dane. Emma and Dane haven't been talking for a while since things ended kind of badly the last time they saw each other, but they eventually get into each others life again. Its bound to happen when Emma's best friend and Dane's best friend are a couple. In this book Emma finds out that this whole time she's known Dane, he's been engaged. There is a lot of back story to why he's engaged, and I don't want to tell you everything, so you'll just have to read it to figure it out, but, he does break the engagement off. Dane and Emma get stuck together for a month in a nice Caribbean get away when Garret, James and Emma have to hide from the Allegiant. James can't stay with Emma, so he gets the one person he knows will take care of her, Dane. And you find out some secrets about Dane while they're hiding too. There is SO much more drama and epic scenes that happen, but I'm not going to ruin it for you.
This is one of my ALL TIME favorite series, it's just captivating and I've never lost interest in the characters or the story. I can NOT wait for the 3rd book in the series, Reborn. This is definitely a series I need in paperback, signed, on my favorites shelf. IT WILL HAPPEN! :)
Well, I can’t say that I am surprised…Sara Mack is lucky I live in New York, otherwise I would’ve resorted to kicking and screaming for a copy of Reborn…full on tantrum! That’s right Sara…how could you do this to me again? How? LOL.
To say this book is amazing is an understatement. Sara Mack continues to draw the reader into this complex world of love, loyalty and confusion. The characters all experience their own trauma at one point or another but they are all conflicted and all connected in some way. I had a few jaw dropping moments and I must say this is a cleverly crafted book. I could not believe the connections, the decisions made and the turn this book takes! The ending will leave you in a state of shock, but definitely craving more.
I love, love, love this book and I cannot wait for the final installment. I already know it is bound to be great. This is a fantastic follow-up to Guardian. The author has managed to…painfully…leave me hanging…again….I will reiterate my earlier sentiments from my review of Guardian that Sara Mack is indeed evil…yeah I said it…again
All jokes aside this is a phenomenal book. I seriously recommend this trilogy to any Paranormal Romance lover…it is one of the best paranormal series I’ve read to date. You will be kept in suspense. The concept is beyond anything I could’ve imagined. The characters are faced with some incredible obstacles and tough decisions. Emma has one hell of a choice to make and although the book ends in a way that leaves me wondering if this can possibly go in a different direction later, I absolutely have no clue. I am astonished that Sara Mack might actually surprise me. It isn’t often that an author can do that to me so I must give credit where it’s due. I love that I am so unsure of what the final outcome will be and shocked at what has already come to pass.
What a story and boy do I love these characters…each and every one of them have managed to weasel their way into my heart and I am still torn between the love interests. This is a series that I can tell I have NO idea which way it will go and I can’t say I’d be angry with either outcome as all of these characters have been through hell and back. I just don’t know.
And now for some shouty capitals to express myself with a little oomph….THAT ENDING!!!! Brace yourselves!!!! I LOVE THIS BOOK. I LOVE GUARDIAN AND I’LL BE BOLD AND SAY I CANNOT WAIT TO READ REBORN!!!!!!! Sara…you’re still evil!
I didn’t want to give away too much from this book just know there will be plenty of James AND Dane in this book and a whole host of new wonderful characters (and some not so wonderful)!!! This is a series you truly have to experience to understand how great it is.
*This book was provided to me for free in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and comments are my own.*
This book is a paranormal romance, the second book in The Guardian Trilogy, any age group. This is not meant to be a stand alone, it picks up where the first book leaves off, but you do get ideas throughout the story so you are not completely lost. This book is another emotional roller coaster, bitter sweet. I am anxious to read the next book being its the final... do I really want the story to end? This story is about Emma dealing with the return of James as her guardian. She learns all the new "rules" to their relationship and she is desperate. I still despise Dane, I know he is the kinda, sort of, good guy but I am so pro James. True love never dies, he came back just for her.
This is the continuance of Emma Donohue's story, her long road of grief, her desperation to return to her life. Only to be reunited with her now guardian, boyfriend James. She goes through so many tribulations and at times she is lost to what is right or wrong. Emma soon learns that all is not what it seems and her new neighbor Garrett, well... he has secrets that could change everything.
Emma doesn't want to hurt anyone but in the end she will have to make a choice. Can she wait to see what the future holds for her and James? Or take a chance with Dane, the friend she had developed feelings for? Her choices will hurt someone, maybe even just herself.
Favorite passages: "The connection between us is indescribable. Limitless, it is as if an inadvisable elastic band stretches between us, and I'm powerless to ignore its pull." <3 "Time to convince my mind and my heart that I can no longer love her." "It was as if I had reached into his chest and pulled out his beating heart with my bare hands." "My first time back on campus without him is messing with my head." "Until the end of forever." <3 "Thanks for the heads up, jacka** " "You just went from laughter to sadness in, like, a second." "No. He needs to learn if he messes with you, he messes with me." "I remember. The stuff that makes you sing." "Lived and breathed one another." "When did you start to play dirty." "Guardian, and all. I'll always love him." "Anyone who looks like this should be wearing granny panties." "What did I do to deserve him? Absolutely nothing." "Because there's nothing like picking up the pieces of a stubborn girl's broken heart." "It erases my wounds. It eases my pain. It soothes me, and I let it lure me into a deeper darkness."
This is book 2 in the series but I haven't read book 1. It was easy enough to catch up with the slight recap. As if moving on from the loss of someone you love isn't difficult enough, Emma's love has become her Guardian and can show up at any time. There is also the chance she can have him back. This was an interesting story and I want to see what happens next.
Allegiant is the second book in Sara Mack's Guardian trilogy. We are once again reunited with Emma, a young woman who is grieving the loss of her long time boyfriend, James, who died in a tragic car accident. However, while the rest of the world believes James is gone, Emma knows otherwise. James would never leave her and he has proven that by becoming a Guardian. As a Guardian, James can be near Emma until it is her time to pass on to the other side. Continuing their relationship proves to be more complicated then previously thought and at the end of Guardian Emma and James must part. In order to stay near Emma, James must push aside his feelings for her or else.
Allegiant still has Emma struggling with being away from James, even though she knows it is for the best. She heads back to school and befriends her new neighbor, Garrett. Garrett seems nice enough and makes her feel normal again. Slowly Emma begins to put one foot in front of the other and move forward with her life. Unfortunately, before she makes any headway her world begins to fall apart again. She is thrown into situations that prove things aren't always as they seem and people aren't always who they pretend they are. Torn between the loves past, present and future, Emma is filled with heartache, guilt, regret, hope and desire.
The author did a beautiful job with each character. My heart broke for Emma, but despite the deception I was glad Garret came into her life. He filled that best friend, big brother role that Emma needed. The tug between Emma, James and Dane was as powerful as ever. In the beginning I was mad at Dane, I didn't care how cute or caring he was. But then the tide turned and that changed. I became just as confused as Emma. The author made me love each characters that it would be hard for me to choose my favorite.
I cannot wait for the third and final book in this trilogy. I need to see the conclusion of Emma's story.
review to come when finished series....loving it!!
Experience James, Emma, and Dane's story in one complete collection!
Tragedy struck and took the love of Emma's life. She can't erase the pain that consumes her heart. Her best friend Shel comes to visit to help her heal and it starts by visiting Jame's grave. Emma continues day by day and her heart is mending slowly but then all of a sudden she is hearing a familiar voice, the one she thought she would never hear again. Until the voice in her head turns out to be more...so much more...
I came across this trilogy sold as .99 a few days ago and it was it is story I that will consume your heart. This trilogy will bring not only the supernatural within but also a love triangle and different friendships.
Fair warning, first two books have major cliffys but great news is that all 3 books are out today! Meet the Charmed, Larvatus, Allegiants and the Guardians of The Guardian Trilogy!
Omg. Sara Mack did it again with another great book. This book was excellent. I was thinking how she could top her last book and she did it with this one. So if you have read Guardian you know already that Emma boyfriend died and decided to become a guardian to keep an eye on her. Now you met Garret at the end of the last book and you are wondering if it is the same person that was training James. Yes he was and he has plans to do something that no other guardian has done. So now that Emma has been hanging out with her old dead boyfriend and he has seen everything that she and Dane have done. So what’s worse than a jealous boyfriend? Try a dead jealous boyfriend. In this book you learn more about the Guardian’s duties and find out that they even have to answer to a higher calling. But what happens when you have been a guardian for so long and your true love you thought that was going to release you don’t do that you have to find another way to end your responsibilities. This book will make you think of the last book and make you keep reading. This book is a good page turner and it grabs your attention and you will want to continue reading this to the end. And I have to say that the way it ends you want more. Sara gives us more of your books and don’t make us wait. I give this book a good 4 ½ stars for the excellent way the story goes and for a great author that I will enjoy her books whenever they come out.
Every once and a while as a reader we get spoilt with few amazing things. Firstly, a second book in a trilogy that is even better than first. Secondly, a unique storyline that pulls those heart strings so tight you think they will snap and finally all three books in a Trilogy available to read one after the other..no waiting and trust me with cliff hangers like these a wait between books would have been excruciating!
I loved The Guardian but Allegiant was just brilliant. Of course Emma is still mourning what she once had with James before his death but Allegiant has a whole different feel to it. With the introduction of the Allegiant comes hope, tears, excitement and my person fave, bucket loads of angst! With twists at every corner. Just when my heart would start leading me towards a certain dark haired more tangible direction Mack would throw a spanner in the works and I would run screaming back in the previous direction. Everyone says Emma would not have chosen James and released him. I like a challenge and on Emma's behalf I would like to prove them all wrong.
That has to be the end for this review because I cannot waste anymore time. I have a final book to devour and a point to prove :)
Allegiant by Sara Mack is part of a series. I did not read the first book. You got the gist of the first book as you read along. Emma Donahue is still grieving the death of her boyfriend James. Emma is a college student. Dane is in love with her, but she broke his heart. It's her 22nd birthday. Her best friend Shel comes to visit with her boyfriend Matt and a hos with a birthday present. As soon as Emma removes the lid, a kitten pops out. She immediately loves the kitten. James was killed in a car accident when he fell asleep at the wheel. He comes back to Emma as her Guardian. Every human has a Guardian. Garrett is James mentor. Garrett is higher up in the heirarchy. Garrett tells James he shouldn't love Emma anymore. He'll get in trouble with the Allegiant who will erase memories. Dane fails to tell Emma he was engaged to be married to Teague. He's broken off the engagement but Teague has a hard time accepting it. The love triangles thicken. How will Emma survive the attentions of a human and inhuman at the same time? Can they avoid the Allegiant? They'll downright try. This book gets more interesting as you read.
It's getting harder for Emma to handle her new form of relationship with James. She turns to her new neighbor Garrett for friendship and finds out that Garrett is more than he appears. Garrett may have all the answers for James and Emma. But with the separation of worlds, James is spending more time with other Guardians. Will it be easier to find love with those like him? Emma is still conflicted about her feelings for Dane. Their summer friendship still means more to her than she would like. Is Emma going to lose James? Dane? Both?
If you enjoy a little paranormal love story then you will enjoy this book/series. For a topic that has been saturated with novels lately, this one is completely unique! I was hooked by the first chapter and read all three books in the series in just 2 days!! The author describes the characters and situations so well that I find myself loving and hating some of them! Warning: This series end in cliff hangers... but the entire series is out, so don't sweat it!
This is the second book in a series. You must read Guardian first.
Emma has decided to return to college as she tries to return to some normalcy in her life. James is struggling with his feelings for her, as he does this he tries to stay away. Emma is still trying to deal with her feelings for James and Dane
This book is page after page of surprises, twists and turns. It is also a emotional rollercoaster ride with feelings as James, Emma, Dane, and other characters try to deal with the ups and downs. Ms. Mack does a great job to just throwing more and more twists and turns that you won't see coming. This is a great paranormal read with characters that you will be invested in me. Each book keeps getting better and better. As usual she ends with one he!! of a cliffhanger.
I received a gift copy in exchange for an honest review. Read and reviewed for Kylie's Fiction Addiction
What can I say? I read this even faster than Guardian. I think, what helped is having just read the Guardian last month, the characters were still fresh in my mind. Trying to review a book without spoiling is not easy. But what I can say is that characters are fleshed out a little more and even twists and turns stunned me! One twist that was inferred in the prologue teaser at the end of Guardian was not included in the full version of Allegiant, so I wonder if it'll be mentioned in the final part of the trilogy - Reborn.
My opinion of one character certainly changed. For the better! I can't wait for Reborn, and I hope that its 2014 release is like the first WEEK of 2014!
Great second novel Sara, its possibly even better than Guardian! so Reborn has a lot to live up to!
Allegiant second book in the Guardian Trilogy! If you haven't read the first one already I highly recommend it! I've just fallen in love with this series! I find myself wanting more and more!! Also as I read this series I feel like I'm experiencing all these different emotions as if I was right there with her! This is just one of those books that I just couldn't put down, I just wanted to know what happens next! Sara Mack has created this masterpiece and she has become one of my favorite authors! I wish her success and I hope she continues to write after the series is over :) I look forward to seeing what else she can create to capture my heart and mind :)
I will now be waiting impatiently on pins and needles for the last book! I can't wait to see how it all ends!
I flew through this second book in this trilogy. The first book Guardian was an ugly cry and I loved that! This second book really gets you into the story. Emma lerns alot in this book and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I love the part in a series when the story starts to take shape and Sara Mack dose it very well. Emma conntinues to be the strong person I have grown to love as she faces new friends, a life she thought would be shared with James, betrayal, and trying to understand the Intermediate. The story moves quick making each piece fall into place. I hate that the next book will be the end but can't wait to get to. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Read this you will not be disapointed if you like love, action, funny, paranormal. I'm off to read Reborn!
This book is as good as the first. It picks up right where Guardian left off and continues the fantastic story of a love triangle between Emma, Dane and James. And then you throw a little bit of Garret in there and it makes it even better. I was up until the wee hours of the morning trying to finish this book because I just could not put it down. Finally, at 1:30 am I finished it but could not go to sleep. All I kept thinking about was "Wow, How could this author leave me hanging like this? I am not going to make it until the next book." Once again, I'm left with another twist in the story and this time it's right at the end. I can not wait to read the next one.
This is the second book.. I won the first one in a giveaway..Emma's life is turned upside down again...she has to run away with her second fav person...they end up getting close of course who wouldn't when your locked away in paradise with a hunky man....she is starting to realize she doesn't know if she can live with never being touched and in a normal relationship not to mention james' attitude issues....then the ending such a suprise......if you love supernatural and love triangles mixed with danger then this is the book for you.....loved it
Wow, Allegiant was a fantastic follow up to Guardian! Although quickly jumping into this book didn’t help relieve that last cliffhanger AT ALL, as we went from one cliffhanger to another. However, luckily for me, Reborn was already released. Except, what that means is another night with little sleep... but totally worth it! While Guardian was a great introduction to Emma, James, and Dane, Allegiant throws you right into the Guardian’s world and we are introduced to the Allegiant and the Larvatus.
I want to cry!! why? because I want more. I cannot wait for the 3rd book reborn. I devoured this book. just as great as the 1st I wanted throw my book at the wall so many times but I also hugged and screamed in happiness. That's how good it was. I NEED REBORN! lol I'm so glad I saw a review for guardian the other day and decided to ignore my already growing to read books to start this wonderful series!
I jumped right into Allegiant as soon as I finished Guardian and let me tell you it is just as good as Guardian! (Maybe even better, if that’s possible!) Some new twists are going on, another amazingly written book by Sara Mack! You should one-click Reborn real quick before you start because once you finish Allegiant you will not want to wait an extra second before you start Reborn <3
I first read this book in a book club in the back of my small towns book store, and we had the author there with us. She is a very nice lady btw. I have since reread the whole series multiple times. I actually did a small school project on it my junior year of high school, which feels like forever ago. I don’t want to say too much about the plot but let me just say these books are amazing and so is the author!
It's a damn good thing I have the third one to start tomorrow. This one blew me away. It wasn't the tear fest as the first one but it sure made you think. Now what's going to happen? How much more can it get overly emotional or twisted? I love Sara but I'm starting to wonder...
Great Job on book 2. This story pulled me in again and didn't let me go. It pulled at all my emotions. I absolutely loved reading it and learning about everything. Can't wait to read the next book. Awesome Job Sara Mack....
This was a great second book in the trilogy but avoids falling into the trap of making characters and situations crazy just to be different. Mack does a great job of keeping the original tension but adding in new dimensions that allow you to feel Emma's journey and really root for her.
