It's OK. A fast read and not very technical - which is almost a problem. It does throw some terms out there but then it doesn't go into depth with them. maybe I was expecting too much. My only real gripes were at the very end when it went in to nutrition. Lumping fat and sugar together for broad sweeping statements is bad form, and referencing Okinawan diets, fat is bad for your heart and cholesterol is out of date information. And even when it was not out of date it was misguided at best. To be fair, the authors are only at fault for repeating bad information that wasn't relevant in my eyes.

If you’re a layperson and you know little about your own brain and how it works then this book is for you. A well-researched book that discusses how the brain works and how to get the most out of it. The advice is supported by examples of experiments that are explained in a simple way to help you understand and make the psychological and neuroscientific literature easily accessible.

An informative and thorough grounding in healthy eating and lifestyle/activity choices that explains the neuroscience behind why they are a good/bad idea. Presented in a readable, easy to understand, relate and digest style.

However, while I definitely wasn't looking for highbrow, I was disappointed not to find more new information - there was nothing you wouldn't have already read in a magazine or mainstream media article in the last decade.

I expected this to be more about how to sort your brain out, but it was very much more how your brain works and the odd tip. So totally not what I expected, maybe I should have researched the book more before reading. Some interesting stuff, but some of it I knew to be wrong/out of date so I’m not really sure what to take from the rest.

😽😻📚Claire Bear & Mel Mel's Book Reviews 📚😻😽 'Sort Your Brain Out' by Dr Jack Lewis & Adrian Webster
Genre: Neuroscience

About This Book: This book explains how the brains work and provides suggestions on how we can alter our behaviour, beliefs and motivations to create positive change in our life. The authors claim to show you how to rewire your brain to enable you to make better decisions, improve your memory and manage stress.

My Review: This book is interesting and thought provoking. The authors provide many suggestions on how to improve your brain's potential and I am currently in the process of trying these tips.
Also, the authors explain their controversial views on multi tasking, butterflies in the stomach and gut feelings.
The book includes a fascinating chapter on addiction and the devastating circumstances .

The author directs you to their website for an illustration to support you with the content. Yet, the picture is not clear and I did not find it of any use.
In addition, the content is difficult to engage in for long periods of time, therefore I had to listen in small periods.

A thought provoking non fiction book on how the brain works and suggestions on how to improve the brain. I do not agree with everything stated in the book but it was interesting nevertheless.

Very fascinating and insightful. Learned a lot more about my brain, its functions and why different things happen in our bodies through the workings of the brain.

I guess I was expecting too much from this short book.
It deals with many different topics without too much detail, and gives well-known suggestions.
In a nutshell a fast and not very technical read about how our brains work.

It could be a useful guide for those who have never heard of how important are sleep, water and sunshine, physical exercise, eating in moderation especially sugars and fats, managing stress, to list some of the most popular suggestions in matters of health.

An interesting book highlighting that the brain is always changing, and that providing it with new challenges and through a healthy lifestyle it can continue to evolve and take on the continuous challenges which we throw at it.

My personal take aways are how rest and sleep are as important to the brain as taking in information and that by continuously stimulating our brain we are actually suppressing the output which it is generating. Not only does this get explained, but some tips are provided on how to actually use this to your advantage if you are trying to tackle a particularly challenging problem.

Additionally the book looks at stress and how it is both a bad but also a good thing - it goes on to explain how managing stress can actually use it to your advantage and that there are ways to reduce the stress levels in your body.

A very simple, quick-read book giving you some hints and tips about improving the use and function of your brain.
A really low-level book, in my opinion. Not worth the money spent on buying a copy.

It's definitely worth reading, you'll learn some new bits and pieces about your brain, but by no means is it an essential read.

I really learned a lot from reading this book. Now more than ever, I am keen to keep my brain healthy so not to suffer some of the devastating consequences earlier than my time. Very practical advice and easy enough to understand. I am particularly looking forward to applying the dunking concept.

Книга не оправдала ожиданий после рекламы МИФом. На деле книга похожа на компиляцией статей с лафхакера. Для любознательных людей полезной информации будет мало. Из полезного - в конце каждой главы есть резюме с выводами.

Good blend of science and practical application in everyday life.

Easy to understand and personable writing style.

Lots of useful take always as well as reinforcing positive lifestyle choices we already know about, by highlighting their impact on the amazing organ in between our ears.

This book falls somewhere between popular science and self-help, and suffers from the subsequent lack of focus. Still, there is plenty of useful and practical advice, and the book has a pleasant style of writing.
