“Revenge may be wicked, but it’s natural.”

----William Makepeace Thackeray

J. Frank James, an American author, has penned his debut novel, Dead Money Run which centers around a brother trying to find his sister's killers after a hell lot of jail time due to stealing millions of money. Moreover, this is the first book in the Lou Malloy Crime series.

Synopsis:

Lou Malloy learns of his sister's death right before he is released from prison, having served 15 years for the theft of $15 million from an Indian casino. He wants two things: to keep the $15 million, which no one has been able to find, and to track down and punish whoever killed his sister.

Lou Malloy teams up with Hilary Kelly, a private investigator. In no time, Lou has found the hidden $15 million, recovered guns and ammunition hidden with the money, and murdered two low-level mobsters and fed them to the crocodiles.

As the body count rises, the story grows more complex and his sister's death becomes more mysterious.

Lou Malloy served his 15 year jail time for stealing $15 million from an Indian casino, but just before his release, he learns that his only sister has been murdered. He pairs up with the private detective, Hillary to find his sister's killers, but unfortunately he gets dragged into a messy puddle of crimes and strangely he becomes the most-wanted man in the country.

The writing is really good and the book has lot of adrenaline rushing moments that kept me on the edges, and I loved how skillfully the author have pulled off those power-packed action scenes. The flow of the book is free-flowing, thus giving a fast pace to the book. The narration is really beautiful and the author have managed to keep it full-of-suspense. There are not much twists in this book as the story flows with Lou's perception and his journey of finding the killers.

The character of Lou is not that impressive, in fact his rash and irrational decisions made me dislike him and at times, I failed to contemplate with his actions, well, on the other hand, I fell for Hillary, an understanding, strong and determined lady and her powerful demeanor fits her bill as a private detective.

The author is quite keen to tiniest of details, thus it helped me to see the images quite vividly. In fact the author have also give a huge amount of depth to his storyline, that kept me engaged to the core of the story. Overall, the storyline is very interesting and compelling enough to keep anyone glued to till the very last page, and the author's easy and simple language makes it more easier for us to enjoy the mysterious and action-packed roller-coaster ride.

Verdict: Recommended to all the psychological thriller fans.

I was offered a copy of this book in paperback from the author and its been sitting on my bedside awaiting its turn to be read.

I have to say, I am a sucker for a cover, a cover that attracts me and this one just didn't do it for me so maybe that is why its been sat for so long unread.

You can never tell a book by its cover though and this turned out to be an interesting story. Most of the reviews have touched on the proceedings of this book and what the story is about.

So I am going to say this, I have give it 4 stars not to sit on judgement but because I read near on 500 books per year and a book has to SO stand out to make it rise above the piles of the kind of genre this is aiming for. I say it is part way there.

At times it was seemingly written very professionally and then it left me with my eyes raising to the ceiling thinking the author could have worded that sentence better or even deleted that paragraph or enhanced this or that.

I do not profess to be anyone but a reader. I am not a critic. I just say what I felt worked or didn't work for me personally and I won't split hairs just because someone wants a 'good' review out of me.

It has all the makings of a 'good read' and 3 stars from me means it was OK. But it didn't hold with the best I have read in debut novels or ones that are newly Indie lately.

I do not mean this in an awful way, just truthful. And after all, if someone asks me for an honest review, its what you will get but I wish to never cause offence just to say, work on it, enhance it, jiggle up, get some advice and make it the best of the best to stand out in this over growing book world.

Thank you to the PA/publicist and author for allowing me to read and await my honest review

Fifteen million dollars, fifteen years in prison, a murdered sister, and lots of bodies.

The day he got out of prison is when it all started.

Lou Malloy, now known as John Addams, is released from prison and goes on a killing spree as he looks for the money he hid and for his sister's killer.

Lou meets Hilary Kelly, and they team up with both of them doing the investigating and with Lou doing the killing. We meet many unique characters.

DEAD MONEY RUN was fast-paced but a bit unbelievable how John acquired guns, found information, and always managed to get rid of people that were after him.

I definitely wouldn't want to be on Lou Malloy's "list." :) He had no qualms about maiming or killing people. There is a lot of gore.

As DEAD MONEY RUN continued, Lou found out that his sister may have been killed for more than the money he stole, and she may have been involved in other things.

DEAD MONEY RUN wasn't gripping, but is a read that will keep you wondering where the search will lead and who else is involved in following and trying to kill Lou and Hilary and what the motives of these people are. The ending was tense and quite good.

DEAD MONEY RUN needs a bit of polishing up in the believability factor, but I did enjoy DEAD MONEY RUN. We have to realize, though, that it is a book and not real life, right?

Mr. James knows how to tell a good tale and keep you interested. 4/5

This book was given to me free of charge and without compensation in return for an honest review.

Review: DEAD MONEY RUN by J. Frank James [Lou Malloy Crime Series #1]

Lou Malloy is a walking oxymoron: an honest criminal. He's a robber, admittedly so; a liar, and he acknowledges it; a killer, and not afraid. That makes him very likeable, in my eyes; he may commit crimes, but he possesses integrity(I know, oxymoron).

As I was enjoying "Dead Money Run," by J. Frank James, I associated the hard boiled character of Lou Malloy with Dashiell Hammett's Sam Spade. The fact that Hammell was a former Pinkerton Detective helped him with creating realistic dialogue and that is what there is plenty of in this novel. I'm sure that if Humphrey Bogart was with us today, he could play the part of Lou Malloy on the big screen.

Lou Malloy is released from prison after serving fifteen years for robbing a casino of fifteen million dollars. A few months prior to his release, Lou received a letter telling him about his sister's murder. As Lou later learns, his sister, Susan, was doing something honorable when she was tortured and murdered.

The action packed story has Lou (think Sam Spade) taking one step at a time, eliminating gunman and getting closer to who was responsible for his sister's death.

Lou has the good luck to team up with Hilary Kelly, a private eye, hired by the insurance company who paid the claim to the Indian Casino for the money Lou stole. Hilary is suppose to befriend Lou and have him lead her to the money but she falls for him and becomes his partner.

Various criminals are after Lou and he is able to dispatch them with ease. (I'm still seeing Bogart with the gun and maybe blowing on the barrel of his gun as he shoots another goon.

There are a number of levels to the story. On one hand there is the family love Lou shows for Susan. She was only fifteen when he was sent to prison. He seems to feel an inner regret that he wasn't there to protect her. We also see the friendship and emotional connection between Lou and Hilary. Finally, there is the friendship between Lou and Crusher, Lou's powerful protector in prison and right hand man in this story.

Overall, this is a gem of a story as if one of the classic hard boiled novels was recently found and released.

Don't miss it.

I received a free book for an honest review.

Lou Mallory had no sooner been released from the Atlanta Penitentiary than trouble started. Two guys were waiting in a Lincoln Town Car offering him a ride. Actually, it was not a polite offer; it was more of a demand. Just about that time, a prison guard came back through the gate. Lou asked him to call a cab for him. Fifteen million. That’s the amount of money he’d stolen from a casino. And, fifteen years later, no one had found it. He took the cab to a bus depot and headed to Jacksonville Beach.

His first order of business was to find out who’d killed his sister, Susan, while he was doing his time. Hilary Kelly met him at the depot. She’s a PI. He didn’t know her, but it didn’t take long for her to confess she’d been hired by the insurance company who was out $15 Mil to befriend his sister and find out the location of the hidden dough. But she didn’t anticipate becoming friends with Susan; she no longer wanted to fulfil the job. Lou and Hilary are about to find out that powerful people who are money hungry won’t stop at anything to get what they want.

Lou is not your typical ‘good guy’. In fact, he’s a ‘bad guy’, but this is one of those books that will have you rooting for the bad guy. Lou is snarky and brash – a ‘shoot now; ask questions later’ type of guy. I liked the addition of Crusher to the Lou / Hilary team. He had been a pro-wrestler and a former inmate with Lou. Now, Crusher has Lou’s back. If you like your suspense hard-boiled, this novel will surely peak your interest. Rating: 4 out of 5.

Actual Rating: 3.5/5

The Story: Lou Malloy learns of his sister’s death right before he is released from prison, having served 15 years for the theft of $15 million from an Indian-owned casino. After his release, he heads to the Southeast to track down his sister’s killer, but it isn’t long before he gets sucked into something even bigger. Before long, he is wanted by everyone from the mob to the FBI.

The Opening Line: The warden was a small man, but dressed neatly.

What I Loved: The action really moved the story along. There were never really lulls where I got bored or distracted, and the pacing, although fast, fit the tone of the novel overall. I also really liked the short chapters, as it made it easy to pick up and read even during the shortest of breaks.

What I Didn’t Love: On a purely surface level, I did notice the occasional typo and grammar error. Within the story itself, I could never bring myself to really love Lou as a main character. Sometimes he made connections that seemed impossible, while at other times, he couldn’t draw the simplest of conclusions. I liked Hilary much better.

Final Thoughts: I’m not huge into stories driven mostly by action, so this was a bit of a stretch for me. But to my surprise, it was a pretty enjoyable read overall, especially if you’re interested in crime syndicates and the lives of the rich and corrupt. If you enjoy gangsters, casinos, guns, cars, and money, this is definitely a book you should check out!

I was given a print copy of Dead Money Run by J. Frank James for review.

Dead Money Run is the second entry in the Lou Malloy Crime Series which I believe now stands at nine books. I have not yet had the pleasure of reading any of the others. This is a hard-boiled crime mystery in the truest sense of the word. Main character Lou Malloy is as tough as any noir detective you want (or don't want) to meet. There are two other characters who probably are part of the series. If they aren't they should be. Hilary, the female love interest, who is no pushover herself, and Crusher (I think the name pretty much says it all).

Malloy takes on gangsters, the government, police, and others in a fast paced story of stolen money, murder, and general mayhem. Lots and lots of action, violence, property destruction, and even a little romance thrown in.

People who look for such things may also see this as a morality play (loyalty, honor and such). I don't usually look that deep into the books I read, I just go along for the ride, and a wild and exciting ride it is.

In Dead Money Run, author J. Frank James has delivered on the promise of shoot 'em up good guys vs bad guys, though that distinction is sometimes flipped and always muddied.

So basically, fans of the hard-boiled detective crime drama genre are going to like Dead Money Run by J. Frank James. I know I enjoyed the heck out of it. I recommend it. Enjoy!

Lou Malloy is in prison for stealing 15 million dollars. As you can imagine as the money has never been recovered, he is quite a popular guy but obviously all for the wrong reasons. Just before his release he is informed of his sister Susan's untimely death.

As soon as Lou is released we are taken on quite a fast paced ride. Not only is Lou hell bent on finding out why his sister was so brutally murdered and wanting to find out who is behind her murder, he also has quite a few un savoury characters hot on his heels after the elusive 15 million dollars!

There is quite a lot of action in this book and some parts made for uncomfortable reading but that is to be expected in a crime thriller.

Lou is quite a tough character but then spending 15 years in prison will probably do that to a guy. I think due to the storyline he has had to let his head rule and not his heart. Hilary the private investigator is also a strong character. She seems to take everything in her stride and adjusts to new events with Lou quite quickly.

I really had no idea how things were going to pan out at the end for Lou but I certainly was not disappointed and I am very interested to see what the author has in store for an ex con in future books.

Many thanks to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Dead Money Run reminded me of those days when as a kid I discovered Nancy Drew, then later Agatha Christie and then Sherlock Holmes. This book reminded me of the pleasure it feels when you have got your hands on a series book; you get hooked to such extent that you do not need to look any further to discover yet another book and keep on waiting for the next.

Read more book reviews at my blog

However. the cover pic could have been better designed, since it was one of the most off-putting factors due to which I delayed reading this book.

Mr. James has cast a winner here with character Lou, who does not bat an eyelid before killing someone whom he thinks harmed his closed ones or could bring potential harm to him or his closed ones. Fast paced, action packed, thriller on the run and romance in between with short punctuated chapters, the story progresses in the perfect manner. With the new characters being introduced one after the next, the main leads never lose out on the pointedness. Excellent writing!

Hey, but the story is yet incomplete. Eagerly waiting to find out what happen's next in the sequel - "Only Two Cats".

I selected this book while traveling and needed something to read when not driving and listening to Audible. The book is fast paced, a little to fast I can't buy Lou Malloy being so adept at everything after 15 years in prison. He makes decisions and thats good for him since a national/international cartel it breathing down his neck, but can't seem to hire anybody that knows how to tail somebody or do anything else. The editing made me groan do they not research anything

A smaller waterproof bag next to the money held the weapons a Glock 17 and a Walther PPK.... Opening the bag I dry fired them to make sure they were still good to go. Then I took clips for both revolvers and inserted them....

Im going to stop there, clips and magazines, it is magazine, get used a lot and interchangeably and I can forgive that, Glock has never made a revolver, the Glock and the PPK are both semi-automatic pistols. At times the book seemed professionally edited and other times not so much, like he was free writing and forgot to go back and make correct edits or they were never reviewed.

Its not a tight book but if your on the beach trying to read and pay attention to things going on around you its ok for that

Dead Money Run is the first installment in Lou Malloy Crime series. Badass main character, short chapters, fast-paced and page-turning plot, this book is a must-read if you love crime fiction.

Disclaimer: I obtained this book from the publicist of the author in exchange of my honest review.

I'm lucky to be contacted by Book Publicity Services to offer me this book to read. From the synopsis, I immediately know that I would love this book if it's written well. In fact, I nearly couldn't stop myself from reading it since I started it.

First of all, if you've been reading my book reviews, you knew that I love books with short chapters. Most of the chapters in Dead Money Run are about 3 pages, some even only half a page! I love the no-bullshit writing of the author. Straight to the point and able to bring me into the world of Lou Malloy which is full of mysteries to be solved about his sister's death.

When the book first started, Lou is in the jail, serving his fifteen years of prison for stealing fifteen million dollars from an Indian casino (what a nice figure!). Six months before his scheduled release date, he receives a letter from his sister, Susan Malloy (aka Kandi Kain) and the news about her death. From then on, Lou has decided to seek revenge on his sister's killer.

In Lou's journey of seeking the killer of his sister, he meets with Hilary Kelley, a private investigator who aids him in his revenge mission after that. I love the chemistry between Lou and Hilary and I particularly like reading the conversation between them especially when Lou is being humorous.

At first I thought Lou is a boring character with only hatred in his heart or maybe I'm just biased because he is a criminal. But when I read on, I'm able to see the humanly side of Lou even though he kills without a blink of eye. I can see that Lou is a loving partner, loyal friend and badass killer. His great sense of humor in his conversation with others also amused me a lot.

The story progresses in a quite steady pace. Even though I would sometimes get confused with the clues Lou gets along the way, I'm quite enjoying reading with the little mysteries that the author left here and there to make me wanted to learn more about what will happen next.

The ending is satisfactory and somewhat predictable. Based on what I read on Lou, I'm quite interested to know what his life will look like after that. Will he continue to be a criminal or will he get to a place and settles down with Hilary? I guess I would only know that by reading the sequel - Only Two Cats.

*Copy provided by Book Publicity Services in exchange for an honest review. *

Fifteen years ago, Lou Malloy robbed a casino on Indian territory. A casino involved in money laundering. Fifteen million bucks. He is caught by the police and serves fifteen years in prison. Money never found. Just before he comes out of prison, Lou finds out that his sister is murdered. He is thirsty for vengeance. Is she murdered because of him and his fifteen million bucks? Those bastards have to be punished!

Many people are interested in those money. Dirty money that were already included in the laundering process. Hilary Kelly, a PI, tails the former prisoner for the same reason. Very soon, they start to work together as a couple. She wants a revenge too. Lou's sister was her friend, at least she says so.

No one is safe. There are many people after Lou and Hilary. Lou and Hilary are after the people who killed his sister. Everyone wants the money. No one can be trusted. The run for the dead money starts.

Lou Malloy is a classic anti-hero as a main character. He kills people almost everywhere, he doesn't choose the place or time. There is too much blood where ever he goes. But there is some decency in his character. He doesn't kill innocent people. He loves his sister very much, he is doing whatever it takes to find her murderers. He has been hurt in life and he is not afraid to hurt others. An eye for an eye. He is smart and brave, but also too much impulsive.

With a character like Lou Malloy, the action scenes are so tensed and hard-boiled. The author visualized the killing scenes very well, included many bullets and blood all over the places. Described to the tiniest details, the killing scenes are so vivid and adrenaline-fullfilled. Some of them happen so fast, you've turned the page and BAM, three people dead! In the same time, the author added Hilary, as a balance, a person who can restore Lou's faith in humanity. The characters are so unpredictable, it is very hard to separate the good guys from the bad guys. There is no single character that can be described as just good or just bad. Even Hilary is like a wolf in a sheep's clothing. You don't know who to trust.

Overall, I enjoyed in this very bloody run for the fifteen million bucks. Full of action, blood and bullets, it is a fast-paced thriller that will keep you on alert-mode till the very last page.

My opinion: 4,5 / 5.

My thanks to Kelsey at Book Publicity Services and J. Frank James for my copy of Dead Money Run in exchange for an honest review.

Book synopsis:

I have to say, I really enjoyed this book. I don't know what I was expecting but Dead Money Run is definitely a good read!

Lou Malloy is serving 15 years in prison for his part in a casino robbery that left him $15 million dollars richer. Just before his release, he learns of his sisters murder so he leaves prison on a mission. Get the money and find out who killed his sister.

The book reads like an action movie. From once Lou walks out of prison, right to the end, the pace is kept up! Teaming up with Hilary Kelly is one of the better decisions Lou makes. Kelly is a strong character and she manages to soften Lou's edges at times.

Dead Money Run is a fast paced crime caper! The amount of bodies piling up in the wake of Lou's release is staggering, but it's all in his quest to bring his sisters killer/killers to justice.

I really enjoyed the writing style of this book. The chapters are short so you fly through it! If you like action movies, your main character to be full of brawn and wild goose chases then this is the book for you!

I gave Dead Money Run 3 ⭐️ on Goodreads!

My thanks again to the author and Book Publicity Services for my copy!

Happy reading

Dead Money Run by J. Frank James was not what I excepted it to be. Lou Malloy is quite the character as we start off the book with him in jail. Lou finds out that his sister was murdered and he wants to avenge his sister’s death.

Throughout the book we see it in Lou’s point-of-view until we start seeing it in third person point-of-view about some things that we wouldn’t be able to see in Lou’s point. Lou is in interesting character because he spent fifteen years in prison for a crime that he did commit but wouldn’t tell anyone anything about when they wanted to know. Lou also just wanted to be able to spend his time, not killing anyone, with his sister and spending the money. That changed when he found out that someone killed his sister and he wanted revenge.

Throughout Lou’s journey in the book he does a lot (like really a lot) of killing, he finds someone to care about (something he never thought would happen to him), he discovered a lot about his sister’s life in the past fifteen years, and he kind-of-sort-of has a job now.

This is the first book in the Lou Malloy series. I didn't excepted so many killings to happen, or there to be so many details about it. I did figure out who killed his sister, I think, a little bit before Lou did which is kind of cool. Or at least I suspected who had a hand in it.

I am giving this book a four butterfly rating. Dead Money Run by J. Frank James was a good book. However, it is totally different from what I normally read. I enjoyed reading out of my typical genres for this story. So, if you like action, and don't mind a little gore this is a good book for you.

Anyways until next time enjoy this book review brought to you by

I am having a big reading slump which makes me return to my favourite genre crime. Dead Money Run was a perfect book for this.
Lou Malloy pulled of a bank heist when he was just 20 getting caught after he manages to hide it. Now 15 years later he is out. His sister got killed just before he was released and there are various groups on his back to get to the 15 million he hid. As he is trying to find his sisters he runs into various people that either help him, Hilary and Crusher, or are against him, the rest of the world.
The story is not very strong. Time lapses are unclear. Characters are sleeping when they see fit and it was difficult to get a grip on how much time elapsed in the whole book. At some point Crusher and Lou are talking about the dead of his sister when Crusher say it was about a year ago, Lou then says two months before I got released but in my reader head he was released maybe 2 weeks. There are some conversations that don't really add up. Lou discusses something with Hillary after an important phone call and the next chapter starts when they wake up he tells her all about the phone call. Stuff like that happens at a few places in the book.... but.
Yes there is a but because I did enjoy the book. It is bold and filled with bodies. People are shot for blinking their eyes. It made me laugh. It was fun to place a bet if a person would survive Lou or not. In the end I had this image of Lou with guns and knives in every available pocket. A bit Rambo like. Plus I was curious how he would manage to get his money back and get back to a 'normal' life. It was exactly the kind of book I needed at this moment

I started Lou Malloy’s story in the novella, The Run Begins. It is an introduction into Lou’s character and not necessary to read before Dead Money Run by J Frank James.

Lou has a quick temper and a chip on his shoulder. He is rough and tough, but principled, in his own twisted way. On an impulse, he left the small town he grew up in and that is how he began his Dead Money Run.

Dead Money is money that is gotten illegally and has been laundered, whether from drugs, prostitution…

Lou was being released from prison for stealing 15 million dollars from a casino that is owned by the mob. He has no family left since the murder of his sister and he wants her killer. The mystery leads him in a direction he didn’t see coming.

There are layers of criminals and mysteries. Lou is a bad guy and nothing can change that. Have you ever read a book where there really is no good guy, just different levels of bad, brutal, crossing and double crossing villains? When Lou teams up with Hilary, I find myself rooting for this Bonnie & Clyde couple.

Dead Money Run is a convoluted and tangled web. When the pieces are put together, the puzzle was not what I thought it would be and I am delighted. I like when the answers are not obvious and I want more of this tough, just as soon shoot you as look at you lead character and his moll.

If blood and guts noir mysteries are on your reading list, this is one you will want to add.

I received a copy of Dead Money Run by J Frank James in return for an honest and unbiased review.

This book was incredibly frustrating to me. I'm not a fan of giving these types of reviews, but an honest review is an honest review. There were parts of this book that had me smiling and looking forward to what was happening, but there were more instances of noticing parts that didn't actually have to be in the story. For instance, sentences and/or paragraphs that really had no matter in the story or at least could have been worded in such a way that they didn't feel static. I had a hard time with the story because it really didn't feel like it was flowing well to me and the characters were too predictable.

I say that, but for me, Crusher saved this book, along with the last 50 pages or so. Up until then I was having an incredibly difficult time picking up the book again if I were to put it down. However, Crusher became my favorite character almost as soon as we met him and throughout the story I just loved this humor and what he did so freaking much! He was the tension relief that the book was sorely missing and the extra hand that the team had needed since the beginning.

As far as the concept for this story goes, it was a great idea, but I just was not a fan of how it ended up going. While I do appreciate how much detail went into this book and how much really happened, I almost feel it was too much for the story itself to handle and the last 50 pages were almost an explosion of details.

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review, and I rate it 2.5 out of 5

This was a wild ride with a ton of action and was very exciting. It was fairly violent but some parts may have been a little too violent for me. I'm aware of the genre of this book so I expected violence there was just a couple of scenes that I didn't like.

Lou was just released from a fifteen year prison sentence for stealing fifteen million dollars from an indian casino. The money was never recovered so there are a lot of people hunting him down when they find out that he is free. The only thing he cares about is discovering the killer behind his sisters murder and he teams up with her friend Hilary to do so.

To be honest I didn't really care for Lou. I mean don't get me wrong he was a good ex-con out for blood but I just didn't click with him. Hilary was okay and was tough in the face of all sorts of violence. Hell, she was brave just for going with Lou in my opinion. Lou was very tough too and didn't scare away even when times looked grim. They worked well together to solve this mystery.

This seemed so much like an action movie- it felt like I was watching everything unfold around me. I recommend this to anyone that enjoys a good fast paced, action packed book, you won't be disappointed.

"Dead Money Run" by J. Frank James is probably not a book I'd usually pick, but when I was offered a gift copy I couldn't say no! And it turned out to be a nice little diversion. It didn't take me long to read; a couple of hours, at most. In part because of the short chapters and relaxed, easy, intimate narration. But most importantly, because of the storyline that builds up in excitement and intensity; making this a hard book to put down. I couldn't overlook some basic typos/spelling errors/grammatical mistakes. These things can really ruin a good novel for me. And I was, at times, utterly baffled by all the different characters. Add to that, some confusion over exactly what was happening, in terms of plot, and it was, at times, a bewildering read. But I still enjoyed it; I liked the characters of Lou Malloy, Hilary Kelly and Crusher. I found the story mostly exciting and intense. I liked the somewhat happy, but open, ending. And yes, I'd read the other novels in the "Lou Malloy" crime fiction series! And at £2.26, at time of posting, this books a steal on Kindle; a brilliant book at a brilliant price!

Dead Money Run is an odd book. It is written from the point of view of a convicted robber, Lou Malloy. He gets out of jail and wants his stashed money. He also wants to find out who tortured and then killed his sister. He doesn’t mind performing some torture of his own trying to get the information that he needs. Lou Malloy says that he only kills the people who deserve it, but that stack of bodies gets pretty large.

Dead Money Run feels like a comic book. The characters are what you would expect to find in one of those unrated crime comics. None of them feel real, they are one-dimensional. The story is the same. It’s fun and exciting, but not very realistic. So does that make Dead Money Run a bad book? No, not at all. Just be aware of the fact that this is a bit over-the top, and that you won’t disappointed. Everyone needs a little flat-out escapism once in a while.

I give Dead Money Run 3 Stars out of 5. It’s not bad, but it isn’t great either. If you see it on Amazon for cheap, grab it for a few hours of fun.

I received an eBook from the publisher.

A book that began a bit slow, developed into a complicated plot that will keep you hooked until the end. Must admit I didn’t give too much credit to this book after the first few pages, but as I progressed reading, I couldn’t stop. I didn’t like Lou in the beginning, but after he met Hilary, I warmed up to him, ending up liking him in the end. This duo is a bit of Bonnie and Clyde with a twist of Ocean’s Eleven. They have Mr&Mrs Smith passion and skills. Therefore, the entertainment is guaranteed.
I am so happy I had the chance to read this thrilling book. The characters are easy, but very clever. And you can’t help but admire Lou ingenuity in hiding the money. Plus, all the trouble he’s getting himself into is proving how much he loved his sister.
J. Frank James created a realistic crime thriller where money and technology are at stakes. His background in law are quite visible as the legal methods involved. I would warmly recommend this book to everyone who likes crime thrillers or is just up for a book genre challenge. It gets a 4 out of 5 stars from me.

This book was really good. It was action packed and had me completely engrossed on page one.

It follows Lou who has been in prison for 15 years for stealing a large amount of money. Now he is out and searching for his sisters killer. With the help of Hilary, a person he never thought he would trust, he is on the search while others are on the search for him and the missing money.

I have to say Lou is a character I was surprised that I liked. He has a rough face he puts on to the world, but I liked him. He was tough, but throughout he starts to show a bit of a softer side, or at least that's how I viewed it.

I definitely enjoyed this book. It was written well and was very intriguing. It was packed full of action from beginning to end, which made for an all around good book....Stormi

If you enjoy reading mysteries and/or drama's, then you will really love reading this story. I don't know how anyone can survive in prison for 15 years but I guess the $15 million he stole is a good start!

He doesn't know how his sister's death is involved but he is determined to figure that one out too while he is trying to recover the $15 million he stashed somewhere before getting caught.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't think I would want some mob person following me the rest of my life waiting to kill me for stealing their money but to some people, like Lou, I guess they accept the risks.

Here's hoping he stays alive long enough to enjoy it and his new P.I. girlfriend, Hilary. She decides to stick with him along with a guy named Crusher. Not a very big gang going up against the mob, but I guess if you are good enough, then you should be okay????

I actually really enjoyed this book. I love twisting mysterious action packed stories. Like a great movie, it takes us on the run over money and murder. Lou was a strong, tough guy with a great shot, go figure. Hillary was an interesting character. I couldn't tell what she was about, if she was good, bad or just having fun. This story is full of suspense and action. Other than the occasional typo, it was a well written story. This is certainly a page turning adventure that anyone can enjoy.

Dead Money Run is an entertaining thriller that keeps up a breakneck pace right to the end. Action packed with short chapters and about 270 pages (paperback ed.) you’ll race through it, devouring in a few sittings. Reminiscent of the old Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer stories with a pulpy feel this is the first of a new series following tough guy Lou Malloy. He appears here as a young man in Kansas. The cast of characters are suitably rogue.
