Last Chance to Run

Alternate Cover Edition for B00AGJ1ZDQ.

To an undercover agent, she’s a Person of Interest. He’s interested.

Escaping the compound of a deadly international felon--with a fortune in rare, stolen coins hidden on her body--elite athlete Angel Farentino has to make the most important run of her life. Literally. With her father in prison, where he belongs, and a prior undeserved conviction hanging over her head, she has nowhere to turn and no one to trust. Definitely not law enforcement who railroaded her through a judicial nightmare. One step ahead of lethal men and dogs on her trail, she runs into the arms of a dark stranger willing to help her if she’d let him. But that would only get the sexy pilot killed.

Between figuring out who’s sabotaging his undercover work for the DEA and trying to save his baby sister from herself, Zane Jackson has enough on his plate. The last thing he needs is to get entangled with a woman who’s treading on the wrong side of the law. But when the long-legged distraction races into the middle of his operation and stows away on his plane, a primal need to protect forces Zane to risk everything, starting with his heart.

Note - This book was originally released as Worth Every Risk. When Dianna received the rights back she revised the story to the much larger romantic thriller version she'd always envisioned, which includes more romance and plenty of action.

Worth Every Risk was very well-written and fast paced with a very determined and resourceful heroine who had gotten a raw deal in life but never gave up.

Angel thought that she got a good opportunity with her new job, no more menial jobs for her ever since her father and an over-zealous law-enforcement people got her convicted and sent to jail for a year(on a drug charge), causing her to lose her athletic scholarship to Stanford but as it turns out she was wrong, her boss is a crook and she's managed to escape with proof on a plane that is piloted by Zane, who is former Navy and an undercover DEA agent.

Zane lets her go with him since the look in her eye, the hurt reminds him of his sister who he thinks he failed when he was too far away to help. Rest all is fireworks, with Angel refusing to tell him anything since she doesn't want him in danger. Zane can't even get a print of her to run, she is that careful and good at running away and on top of that he has a major case of hots for her, which he doesn't want to act on.

The book belongs to Angel all the way mainly, she is one fearless chick.

Plenty of action with a tough heroine and a hero that’s a jack of a few trades.

From the opening scene of Angel Farentino escaping from where she was being held and stowing away on a plane to a fiery explosion of a boat you are on the edge of your seat. Angel had to be the most unluckiest heroine in a book. Her mother had been an alcoholic and died when she was young and her father ended up ruining her chance of going to college on a track scholarship by using her as a drug mule against her knowledge and letter her go to jail for his crime. After she did her time she thought she finally got a break by being hired by rich arts dealer to work in his warehouse but it turns out he was nothing more than a thief and her all her honesty got her was beat up and thrown into captivity.

Her first break of good luck was stowing herself on Zane’s plane even though it took much of the book for her to be honest with him. Zane was in the service flying planes and loving his job when his parents died leaving his much younger sister venerable and in mixed in with bad things. Zane made a decision to leave the career he loved to help his sister and to give her stability. He owns his own charter company and his business was funded by the DEA in exchange for him helping them with undercover jobs.

Even though these two didn’t trust each other for most of the book the underlying attraction kept them together and Zane constantly rescuing her. Zane’s sister who suffers from alcohol abuse played a big part in the book and her story is next in the series.

"I have three things to say about Dianna Love's writing...breathless pace...heart-stopping suspense...real characters you feel for."
~~#1 NYT bestseller Sherrilyn Kenyon

This is not a "reissue," but a complete revised and much longer version of the original Rita-Award winning book Worth Every Risk. Dianna had to shorten the original story to fit for the publisher. When she got her rights back, she decided to make the book its full length again - a high-concept, action packed romantic suspense. Additionally, the low price is a thank you to all the readers who have supported her over the years!

This is probably going to be much briefer than I originally typed, but my first review didn't make it. *mutter* The marvels of living in the middle of nowhere with connections that are not very quick. *mumble*

Anyways, I purchased this book as part of The Perfect Ten collection which I snagged at the awesomely marvelous deal of $.99. As if I'm crazy enough to pass up ten full-length novels for a dollar. Even if I hadn't read many(any) of the authors previously. I figured that it wouldn't hurt to give them a try- specially at that great deal.

I may have read this author when she perhaps was co-writing with another? I honestly do not remember- I read a fair amount of books in between working. (I basically work to support my reading and shoe habits.)

This was a pretty good book (even if had no vampires, shifters, or demons.) Angel and Zane's story was an interesting read - especially as I started it late on a Sunday night (stayed up way too late) and finished it when I woke up on Monday morning. I was cheering Zane on - might have been cheering Angel on at times. I actually liked Zane a lot more than Angel. Angel just was too untrusting and always suspicious- although given her past, I can understand some of it, but not all of it.

Will I recommend this book to anyone? Yes, I will. I really did enjoy it. And I believe that if you like contemporary romances, you would probably like this one.

Will I continue to read the series? More than likely. I will admit that any book in the series probably is not going to go to the top of my TBR pile though. I liked it a lot, but I'm more partial to my vampires. ;)

Very, very, very good!!! I'm so happy to have read it!!!
I loved absolutely everything about this book!
Usually I don't like books where the heroine is withdrawing something from the hero, even if she's aware that he can help her, but here I loved it! It was really very well explained and made sense that I couldn't do anything else than accepte and justify it! Excellent!
The heoine was a tough girl. I don't mean tough fisically, even if she's an Olimpionic quality athlete, but as a person. Everything she does has a very good explanation and is what I would do in her shoes!
The hero is HOT and tender. You can do anything else than love him. He's aware that the heroine is The One for him, but it is not a case of unexplained insta-love. Oh, no, no... you just have to read it to find out!
The story itself is exciting and with a lot of action.
Do yourself a favour and read it: I'm sure you'll love it as I did!

... Ah, on her website, the author says that the next book of this serie will be published in February 2013, but there's no trace of it on Amazon... I hope it will be published, as I definitely WANT to read it! :D

Last Chance to Run reminded me of Cinderella. Well, if Cinderella was on the run from a maniac killer and Prince Charming wielded a gun and flew a plane.

Our heroine, Angel, has gotten screwed every which way by life. Even her dad betrayed her, sending her to prison for a year as a drug mule - something she did not do. Finally, after years of scrubbing toilets and shuffling at the dump, she gets her dream job! A worker at a warehouse. She even gets promoted to inventory clerk.

When she finds a stolen painting, she decides to show her boss, prove to him he put his trust in the right girl despite her arrest record. Oops. Turns out the big boss is the one who stole those paintings.

On the run for her life, she runs into Prince Charming himself, Zane Black. But even Zane isn't all he appears to be. Having left the air force to take care of his little sister, Zane started his own Currier service for big businesses. Oh, and he works for the DEA.

A girl on the run, a man who wants to protect her but could land in jail, and everyone and their brother after them.

Great read. Check it out!

After Angel Farentino is wrongly accused of a crime, she comes out of prison only to land in a dream job that turns into a nightmare. On the run, trying to clear her name, she lands onboard Zane Jackson’s charter plane. Trust is a big issue and working through it causes a lot of problems.

Dianna Love takes us through an adrenaline fueled adventure that makes us want to catch our breath as it also makes us want to read faster.

Almost 2.5 stars.

This was Dianna Love Snell aka Dianna Love's debut book. It won the 2005 RITA for 'long contemporary'. As far as I know, this is her only book written under this name.

I probably expected more from this story because of the ratings and Ms. Love winning the award. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the time I finished. There was just too much repetitiveness; in other words, fluff but not much substance.

Zane Black works for the D.E.A. as a pilot while undercover on an assignment. Angel Farentino is on the run from her current employer who is dirty and works for the mob. -She did not know this when she was hired on.- She stole something from her boss and is intent on giving it to the F.B.I. when she gets a chance. She believes that by doing this it will prove her innocence. They meet when Angel slips aboard his plane to get away from the shady men chasing her.

There is an eleven year age gap between them. I expected more maturity even though they both had lousy childhoods. At times, many of the situations they got themselves into felt forced. 'Contrived' is the best word to describe this romance. If you enjoy Harlequins/Silhouettes and are looking for a mix of romance and action, try CAMOUFLAGE HEART by Dana Marton. IMHO, it is well-written and a much better book.

Wow! This was an amazing book! If you like a book with suspense, action, and romance don’t pass this book by.
Angel was running for her life. She hid away in a small plane. After takeoff Zane saw her bruised and battered body. His gut twisted. He didn’t know who had hurt her, but he wanted to protect her.
Angel tried to keep Zane away. She knew the men that was after her, would hurt anyone to get to her. Angel got into some scary situations that kept me holding my breath. Zane always managed to find her, and help, and protect her.
This is a book worth reading.

Sample from chapter 29
No matter which way he went, he hit walls. He couldn’t risk losing the High vision contract or the money for Trish he got from the DEA, but neither could he let angel face a threat alone. He didn’t even know her whole name, where she came from, or how she’d spent her life until now. He didn’t know what she ate besides pizza. What he did know was how his insides flip flopped when she walked into a room. How she could look at him as if she believed he slayed dragons and make him want to go hunt one down for her. He had it bad.

Angel Farentino can’t catch a break. With an alcoholic mother she is framed by her father as a drug mule for which she spends a year in jail. She thinks she got lucky when she gets hired on at a warehouse until she finds out that the sadistic owner is a bigger creep than her dad. She is now on the run with proof that her boss is a thief. She has the gold coins he stole that have his fingerprints all over them. She stows away on Zane Jacksons plane and the fun begins. He for some reason gives her the benefit of the doubt and helps her get away from the guys with guns but gets increasingly frustrated with her refusal to tell him what is going on. As Zane helps Angel the attraction grows between them. Can he keep her alive long enough to clear her name and see if they have a future together?
This is a wonderful romantic suspense. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Fast moving and intense every time you think you know what is going to happen you are in for a surprise.

Wow! This was my first Dianna Love book and certainly won't be my last. I love a story where I have to close the book in some scenes because it scares the crap out of me for the characters. It's like I have to have enough emotional fortitude to continue knowing it will get worse before it gets better. Last Chance to Run includes well developed characters and intriguing plots. The romantic portion of the book had a great buildup and fit both the characters and the story. If you like romantic suspense with a great blend of romance and mystery, give this one a try.

A perfect combination of thriller and romance.
I dare anyone to try and put this book down before they are at least one third of the way through. Love pulled me into the story on page one, and I gasped for air as the plot sped along. The characters are fun and likable, and they're story is highly entertaining. A great mix of romance and suspense. I highly recommend it.

Started reading, but ended up skimming, hoping that it would get better. Unfortunately, it didn't. How often can a person hop into bed or think about sex when they are supposedly running for their life? And randomly sticking the Orion Legacy in at the end....such an obvious plug for another book. Well, I won't be bothering, so I guess I will have to guess about this legacy.

Dianna Love’s Last Chance to Run is a fast-paced romantic suspense novel that keeps readers engaged with its intriguing storyline and well-developed tension. The book delivers compelling action sequences, a strong sense of urgency, and a romance that unfolds amidst danger, making for an overall entertaining read.

However, despite its gripping narrative, the book falters in key areas that hinder its effectiveness. One of the most frustrating aspects is the hero’s stubborn refusal to call for help. His internal monologue of “I’m on my own” felt entirely unnecessary and contrived, particularly given the circumstances. Instead of making him appear strong or capable, this choice made him seem reckless for no good reason.

Even more problematic is a pivotal plot point involving the heroine and birth control. She explicitly implies that she is on birth control and tells the hero that it’s just as effective as condoms—only for it to be revealed later that she was not actually on birth control, resulting in an unplanned pregnancy. This is an egregious betrayal of trust and consent. If the situation were reversed, with a man tampering with protection without a woman’s knowledge, it would rightfully be seen as a violation. The fact that this deception is treated lightly in the book is deeply unsettling.

Despite the engaging action and suspense elements, these glaring issues made it difficult to fully enjoy the romance. Trust and honesty are fundamental in any relationship, and this book disregards that in a way that is not only frustrating but also ethically concerning. If you’re looking for a suspenseful read, Last Chance to Run delivers on that front—but be prepared for moments that might leave you more angry than entertained.

Angelina is trying her best to be a good girl but things just keep getting in her way. She gets a job which she shouldn't have which then gets her into more hot water. When she escapes her crazy boss she finds herself in more hot water. She climbs onboard a cargo plane and finds herself at the mercy of one Zane Black/Jackson. The only thing is he's not who he seems either. As Angel is busy trying to keep Zane away from the men trying to find her and the coins she stole she's also falling in love with her savior. Zane on the other hand is doing his best to help her and keep her safe. He has also fallen in love with Angel as he calls her. The ends and outs of this little tale is most interesting and the next to last chapter leaves you wondering who is telling the truth on what is going on.

I picked up the 3 book audible set last week and was delighted with some of the differences in the reader, I found the voice augments *listening as if the two characters were talking through headphones / mic on an airplane, or the slight changes from being heard over a phone. Zane and Angel's story is filled with suspense and absolutely great storytelling and performance. I look forward to listening to the next two. @DiannaLove I took the challenge to 'listen to your older work' it's great!

I loved this mile-a-minute thriller. Angel is a down on her luck ex-felon through no fault of her own and on the run for her life when she stows away on a cargo flight piloted by the sexy Zane. Both have secrets and Angel's might get them both killed, but meanwhile, the attraction between them is hot, hot, hot.
If you're a fan of kick-ass heroes, damsels who don't need rescuing and rich and thoroughly ruthless villains, you'll love this opening book of the Slye Temp series.

I got this on a bookbub boxset deal and it was...not good. The characters were poorly drawn, the plotting didn’t make sense, and maybe this is an unfair characterization because it’s one of my hotbutton issues, but if you are going to write alcoholism, you better do your research and get it right. I have two more books from the box set, but I’m not sure if I can stomach them - and I have a high tolerance for silliness.

Angel, on the run from a thief/murderer, and Zane, ex-military pilot turned undercover DEA agent. Wow, started off with a bang and never let up. Had a very hard time putting this down. Really felt their attraction and chemistry. Zane is a great guy with uncanny savior abilities. Angel has uncanny disappearing abilities. Loved Zane’s confidence and piloting abilities. Angel is pretty quick on her feet, literally and figuratively.

This was my first every audio book. I was lucky enough to win the set in a competition.
I decided to listen while at the gym to give me motivation to keep going.
The fast pace and suspense made the time pass quickly and kept me looking forward to my next gym visit to continue the next chapter. I was glad people couldn’t tell I was hot from the steamy romance not the gym. Really looking forward to continuing with this series.

So. Much. Hotness. A naive woman on the wrong side of the law fights to clear her name with the help of a hunky pilot. This is filled with action, drama, great characters, and a solid plot line. There is some explicit sex scenes that burn the page... I loved this story, and I can't wait to read the second in the series! Whew.... Excellent writing.

Story is unbelievably slow and repetitive but got just a little bit better towards the end but I'm talking the last to chapters. Angel is cautious but to the point of annoyance and Zane is really trying to help her. Meanwhile, there's a bad man and the feds after her. It could've been more thrilling if the author was a little more inventive.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box.

A woman needs help, and he steps up to offer that aid. She is gunshy of men because her previous experience found that they only used and abused and then tossed her to the law to save themselves. This time, she wasn't going to let that happen.

I've had this book on my Kindle for a long time now and finally got around to reading it. I thought this was an interesting read and pretty easy to follow along. Angel has been through a lot when he comes to trusting the men in her life. So I get why she held so much information from Zane. But I wasn't too happy that she kept everything from him, risking his life.
