Jackie Ivie was born and raised in a suburb outside Utah's capital, beautiful Salt Lake City. The second in a family of four daughters and one son, Jackie was constantly amusing her siblings with her invented games, escapades, and stories. And she was always reading. She would even walk the family dog, with one hand holding the leash, while the other held the ever-present book. No subject went unread, but once she discovered Historical Romances, there was no doubting her favorite genre.

Jackie has always been the busy type, rarely sitting still without being occupied in at least one activity, and usually more. When she was younger, it was nothing to find her watching television, while doing her homework, listening to music, crocheting like a madwoman, and reading, all at the same time.

After graduating, Jackie gained secure employment with a large service company and relocated with her growing family to the neighboring, sparsely-populated state of Wyoming. She then spent several years enjoying the wildlife, scenery, and open space that Wyoming is known for. In addition to writing, Jackie is an accomplished artist in several mediums, preferring mixed media. She has several pictures in print and has exhibited in art showings throughout the West. There was never anything she loved doing more than reading, however, and once she discovered the thrill involved with putting her own words and fantasies on paper there was no stopping her.

In 2001, Jackie and her family took a huge step and moved to the largest state of the nation; Alaska. Although it was her job that brought her here, Jackie has grown to love this land of amazing contrasts, breathtaking vistas, and the ever-present resident, the Alaskan moose. There's nothing else like it, and the very long days of summer lend themselves to hours and hours of energizing tasks, while the long winter nights are just right for her real love...writing.

Jackie has now written thirteen novels and is continually starting more. The thrill of writing has now been enhanced by seeing her actual story in print. Lady of the Knight is her first published work. It will be followed by Tender is the Knight scheduled for release this summer.

Betrothed as a child, Giselle's life is never really her own until she leaves her father's house and ventures into a strange new world where she'll meet her husband and one true love. Giselle is what I expected her to be, unsure of herself, shy, and overwhelmed by her husband's unusual family.

Giselle starts out a weaker vessel--why shouldn't she? She's been dominated and imprisoned by her father. Once she finds her voice, Jackie Ivie's talent for story weaving takes over. We catch glimpses of Giselle maturing and taking control of her life over time.

Attached to a man who can't love anyone because he suffered a serious injury that left him paralyzed, Giselle is forced to live a sort of lie. In public, she and her husband are seemingly happy. But behind closed doors, her husband is a complete brute and drunk. The only happiness Giselle has is the companionship and love she finds with her brother-in-law, Navarre.

Navarre and Giselle are both inexperienced in the ways of love. That doesn't keep human nature from taking over ... who can deny such attraction? Or control it? Navarre tries to maintain some kind of decorum, but the tiny Giselle drives him crazy.

Surrounded by vibrant secondary characters, both good and evil, Giselle and Navarre struggle with everyday life. Will they ever be able to live as husband and wife?

Ivie captures the time period and lifestyle of the French aristocrats so well.

Parts of the story are complicated. That's okay. In the end, we're rewarded with that happily-ever-after we all seek.

Read this one yesterday but just got around to my review-- Another slam dunk by Jackie Ivie!!! Whether she's writing paranormal romances with The VAL, or Regency romances, or anything else, I've yet to discover one I didn't like! Navarre and Giselle's story was delightful, and full of intrigue, steamy sex and romance just like I've come to expect from this AWESOME author!!! The wilds of Alaska must have some serious inspiration..... Or plenty of time for practicing those romantic scenes... Hmmmm, I wonder if I could convince my family to move from Missouri?!

Enjoyable read !!!

good read, sort of drawn out though. I felt like it took to long to get to the point. some of the scenes could've been shorter.
