Dr. Sarah Child is a gifted psychotherapist with second sight. So why can't she see what's wrong with Micah when he's rushed into the hospital half dead? Wanting to help heal his broken mind, she takes him on as a patient at her in-home private practice. She's confident that using her unique form of Aggressive Experiential Client-Centered Psychotherapy will help him, until she finds herself in a fire she can't put out.
This book cover is hot. This book started off okay and somewhere on the middle took a weird left turn and the end was just confusing. Dr. Sarah Child is a psychotherapist who has second sight she is also a 35 year old virgin. Micah was brought in to the hospital badly beaten but she can't see into his troubled mind. I had a problem with this book client centered therapy is not touchy feely. I was a therapist for many years and have never slept with a client. The other problem I had with this book was that it had a lot of unanswered questions in it. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.
I'm going four stars. I got this for free a while back and read it for a challenge. I was LOVING it from jump....then I was kinda like "what?", and then it got all like crazy and the end scared the shit out of me and I absolutely HAVE to read the next one. The build up was great, but the actual like sexual encounters were...I don't know...weird. Anyways, I did enjoy the way the story unfolded and we get into each of their heads and I don't know what's up with Micah..I mean, at this point, I really have NO idea what's going on with him, who or what he is, if this is gonna turn crazy paranormal, or just psychotic or just deeply troubled or what...Definitely holds the attention, though... I think that was part of the thing for me with this book, though we are getting her perspective and his, I didn't really trust either one of them. Their account of what's happening doesn't necessarily mean that's what's happening. Will be reading the follow up.
Sarah is a psychotherapist with some kind of ability to quickly and accurately diagnose patients. Micah is admitted into the hospital where Sarah works half dead and in a rage. After healing and some therapy with Sarah it seems that he is better able to read her (already knowing her favorite color, day of the week, etc) and she seems to be missing things about him left and right! There are many boundaries that are crossed in their professional/personal relationship. There are elements of domination and submission. It was at the end of the book that I remembered reading in the acknowledgments that God gets His own paragraph in that section. So when Sarah goes with Micah to a remote castle I'm thinking virgin sacrifice but then she is no longer a virgin and the conversation that follows leaves us with the good verses evil cliffhanger. Who is Micah? a fallen angel? the devil himself? or is Micah just literally that crazy thinking of himself as a demon? How will Sarah save herself from Micah and does she even want to? I'm guessing books 2 and 3 will give us some answers.
From the beginning to the end, I felt like I had no idea what was going on. I knew there was some deep seated issue with Micah and I knew he was sane, but sometimes even if the other characters don't know the secret, the reader needs to know. Confusion the entire book can be a little overwhelming. I didn't feel a real connection with Micah or Sarah. Sarah was basically a spinster who dedicated her entire adulthood to work. No sex, no dates, no hobbies - just work and I learned nothing at all about Micah. Sarah engages in an unconventional therapy with her patient, Micah, which was completely unbelievable and their relationship becomes physical. There was some good sexual tension but no connect to the story or characters for me. The ending was interesting and encouraged me to continue reading to see if some of my questions would be answered.
The Sessions is a book I couldn't put down until I finished it. Sarah is a heroine that is excellent at her craft, psychotherapy. She can read the despair in Micah's eyes. She wants to help Micah become well and takes him as her patient. But, something grows even deeper between them and she has a decision to make. Ms Boone has shown me the depth of these characters in her writing. Sarah and Micah evolve as they face conflicts in their situation. This is the first book of the series, and I cant wait for the second. The dialogue flows naturally and the detail to the scenes is superb. It is a remarkable romantic thriller!!!
I'm torn on this story. I couldn't put it down, finished right before I turned out the light for the night. There is a deep, dark seated fear in this story and it held me in it's grip until the end. I woke up thinking that there is something seriously wrong and almost too scared to go farther and pick up the next book. Sarah is a healer that has a tough patient in Micah, but will he be too tough? There is an edge to the story that left me full of want, but still the scary nature of it leaves me undecided.
The beginning of this story sucked me straight in, but then as it progressed I found myself loosing interest.
A number of things were left unanswered and I guess will be explained in future books, however I did not become invested enough in the story,or characters, to want to continue.
Oh wow I really wasn't sure what to expect when I started this but omigod, Micah Micah Micah you are so hot but with an edge whether you should trust him or not especially the way it has been left.......I really couldn't put this down and read it quickly as it is such an easy read. I can't wait to read the sifting book2 to see what happens........this book really got me thinking and is defiantly worth the read
'The Sessions' is a great story that kept me wanting to keep reading until the end. And I definitely want to follow this series to see where it takes me. I liked how the story began, how it unfolded and took a twist. The characters are written in a way that will draw you in. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended!
I had a little trouble staying focused on it at first but once I got a little ways in, I couldn't stop reading. Towards the end it seems he fell of the sanity train. Now to read the next one. Can't wait to see where he is going in his mind.
I really liked the first half then it got a little strange. I'm not sure exactly what is going on with Micah or Sarah, but that's one reason why I like this author so much. I never know what's going to happen next.
You are a master Azure, This is by far your best story to date IMO. You are taking my mind, body and soul on a roller coaster of emotions that I never want to stop.
Sarah is Micah's therapist. He's getting out of the hospital and moving into her apartment complex. She's going into private practice and stil continues her sessions with Micah. Sarah has the gift of discernment but it doesn't work on Micah for some reason. Their attraction to each other is becoming to much so she drops him as a patient. Micah wants to turn the tables though. He wants to be her therapist. Did I mention Sarah is a virgin??
This is sexy hot but so much more. The ending leaves you going ,,,,WHAT. IS GOING ON???? I love this author, very addictive once you start one of her books. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!!! On to the next book in this series.....
I was a little shocked because I did not expect that end. At this point I have no idea what the story is about. Micah is crazy or is the story going in another direction? What does Sarah have to do with him and that of the soul that means? I really have not caught any of the protagonists but the end made me want to read the next book.
Quite enjoyed this book but noticed it went way too quickly and left the reader hanging. I was keen to read more about Michas life and what made him tick but sadly I need to read pt2/3 - just wanted more to hook me in
I have a real problem rating this book. First, I have no idea what I just read or what it is all about. Normally I would then rate at 1 or 2 stars, but this held my attention like a car wreck. I just couldn't look away. Not sure whether I will continue the series or not.
This starts off and goes on a direction that you don't anticipate - it will be interesting to see how Azure Boone develops this story. full review in book 3
