Stress Free Kids? Yes please! I dove right into this book and read it in two days! With three kids under 5, I’m one stressed out stay at home mom and as a result, my kids feel the stress and act out accordingly. I was anxious to read what Lori Lite had to say in her book Stress Free Kids.

With all the hustle and bustle in life and stressed out parents, it makes sense that the result is stressed out kids. It’s important to take stock and ask, why are they stressed? There are so many things in this book that are common sense and I found myself agreeing and saying “yes!” to so many things but they weren’t things I could have come up with on my own.

A couple of things really struck a cord with me. First of all, I loved that she stressed the importance of free play! There is so much pressure on moms for their kids to know their abc’s and spell their name and do it before Tommy down the block! Sometimes in all the worry about making our kids successful in school and life, we forget to loosen up and have fun and just play! And play has it’s own educational, physical, emotional and mental rewards.

I am a mom that does not play enough with my kids. Guilty as charged! Why? Usually because I have a thousand things to do and honestly, because sometimes I just don’t want to! But that’s because I don’t want to do the same play they do day after day. I get tired of playing dolls with four year old Paige and video games with five year old Reed. But playing with my kids doesn’t mean doing those same old things every time. This book gave me new ideas and inspired me to make more of an effort in that area.

Another thing that really impacted me was the simple breathing techniques I taught to my four year old. She tends to have very emotional responses and still has tantrums. The breathing is something I taught her and I think it was just different enough for her to take pause and try it and do it just because it’s different! She still has tantrums but it gives us something to do every time and I think the repetition alone brings her comfort and will hopefully help her learn to calm herself down.

These are just a few of the many things I learned from Stress Free Kids that I’m putting into practice! It’s nice to have practical things to do that give you a goal. Having stress free kids is a goal I’m definitely focusing more on working towards. And a stress free me too!

I have been following Stress Free Kids on Facebook and twitter for a long time now. I absolutely love the daily tips and helpful articles that she has written. I couldn't wait to get my hands on a book that had all her helpful advice in one place. The book far exceeded my expectations! I truly love the Sanity Savers and Mindful Mantra's. There are so many helpful techniques that everyone who deals with children will find extremely useful. Children seem to be more stressed than ever and with Lori's techniques I know more children will be helped.

I wish this book had been around when my kids were little. The stress section of this book has helped me with my grand daughter and dealing with her stress as a 3 year old. There is so much helpful information in this book. The breathing technique works well I just have my grand daughter sit with me when she is tense and we both sit and breath and then we start laughing and the stressful moment is gone. Thank You so much Lori this book will help so many.

Purchased for our parenting collection and to sum this book up in one sentence...Run out to your local library or bookstore and get this book. This is one of the best books for parents I have read in a long time. Even though it does not say - PUT DOWN YOUR PHONE - it guides the parents through life's emotional roller coaster.

Ahead of receiving this book, I had the awesome chance to talk to Lori and found her to be a kind, open-minded person. This book absolutely chock full of wonderful, creative and easy to use ideas, techniques, and strategies to reduce stress in your life and in that of your any children you come in contact with. That is for sure her main point: you have to put your air mask on first in order to help those around you. Relaxation is a skill that you need to practice to master and by sharing personal stories, answering parent generated questions and other varied techniques, such as affirmations and mediation, Ms Lite offers techniques to empower you on your journey to a stress-less life. I was especially inspired by her chapter on bringing these techniques into schools and know that I will use many of her tips to help the sites that I work with. This is an excellent book for parents and teachers, anyone who works with kids.

Great book. Well-written and with many personable tales, Stress-Free Kids offers parents a practical, useful guide to encouraging healthy calming habits in their children. Additionally, it has great tips and approaches to lower parents' own stress levels. Especially since the mantra of the book is all about leading by example. Putting down the smart devices, implementing reasonable bedtimes, encouraging book reading, scaling back on commitments for kids, how to lower squabbles and stress among siblings, info about diets--you name it, it's in here. I found it especially helpful in lowering my own expectations about how children should behave, and learning to see signs of fatigue in them. Which, according to the book (and admittedly common sense), is the number one cause of irritability, tantrums, anxiety, stress, and bad behavior.
Very helpful book. Would recommend.

Whenever I look for a book to help me navigate life, I am worried that the book is going to be too "heady" or cumbersome. Not so with Stress Free Kids. Lite easily unfolds strategies for dealing with life's tougher moments for the parents. The book is easy to read, flows well and is entertaining. I love how Lite not only addresses how to calm our children but to also calm ourselves. After all, stressed parents have stressed children.

Lite uses various methods of discussing points from bullet points to lists to quotes to real life stories and more. By presenting methods in different ways, you will really "get it."

I have learned a lot from this book. It is in a readily usable format, so I will use it again!

This book was a good quick read and had many important, relevant points, but for the most part, the information in this book wasn't anything new for me. It just wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I was hoping to find new solutions for parenting a child with anxiety. Reguardless, this book was a great reminder to simplify.

2.5 stars. A lot of the advice in this book seemed really common sense (Don't overschedule! Take deep breaths! Get enough sleep!) Not what I was looking for.
