I didn't read the first two books and that's probably why I felt like I was thrown into the scene without a warning. It was a really short read and it left me wanting to know more about Rafe and Bailey's story. I liked the idea with the incubi/succubi and the sexual tension between the two characters was there (you can feel it easily). You should read it only if you've read the others before because you'll probably enjoy it more! It was a quick and nice extract to the world created by the Tamara Hogan :).

“Touch Me” by Tamara Hogan is a short, quick read at just 50 pages. This is part of her “Underbelly Chronicles” series – the concept is that an alien spaceship mixed with different kinds of paranormals (werewolves, incubus, succubus, sirens, vampires, etc…) crashed on Earth thousands of years ago & assimilated into the human society. They can breed between themselves and also with humans – which, since readers are specifically told that, should make us assume there are also some “halves-ies” in the population. In “Touch Me”, Bailey discovers that everyone she works with (save one other guy, Jack) are paranormals… and that she has been nominated to participate in their Council as a human representative (Carl Sagan was the first one – explains a lot, eh?). She’s given the basics of her new reality but then has to rush off to help her coworkers provide security for a concert – for a siren, naturally. Due to the pheremones she becomes overly…. excited…. and if I tell you more it will ruin this novella for you.

Anyway, short quick read. It was okay; had some humorous moments (like when she finds out about paranormals & asks if Dick Cheney is actually a vampire LOL!). I received a copy in exchange for an HONEST review so I really did not have many expectations, because I didn’t “research” this author/series until I sat down to write the review (didn’t want any preconceived ideas). I have to admit to being a bit irritated that this wasn’t a full “story” – it’s actually stated on her website that it is a “prequel novella” for her Fall 2013 release of “Tempt Me” (not yet up for preorder on Amazon). If you are invested in this series & need a “fix”, be aware that Amazon also offers this as part of its Prime Lending Library – so you can read it for “free”. It appears these books come out every year so this is probably a good way for the author to bridge some of that time.

First two books?

384 pages for $5.38 (eh) – March 2011

352 pages for $5.38 (eh) – June 2012

If you like paranormal series, especially with a variety of types of paranormals, this would probably be a great series for you to start. Interested take on who is hidden in plain sight (makes me think of ‘Men In Black’ where they have all the aliens up on the screen & J is realizing for the first time who is & isn’t human). Nice thing is that there are two long books already in “print” with a third on the way, so you would have some good reading ahead of you!

Netgallery provided this short story for honest review.

My first Tamara Hogan work. Underbelly Chronicles is a series. Touch Me was a little appetizer to make me search for the rest of the story. It's listed as 2.5 of the series, so I assume I've missed the first 2. It's fast paced, humorous, but ends abruptly.

Baily Brown's mind is reeling after being told the people she works for are not human. A cosmic traffic accident caused a ship to crash with supernaturals that now live in secret among humans. Sex demons, vampires, weres have organized themselves with a ruling council, but hide in plain sight. Baily is now being allowed into the fold as only the 2nd human to know the secret. During an event attended by sups, Baily drunk on pheromones and attempts to seduce Rafe (a sex demon) before he can give her the meds to block effects.

Just as you are getting started...it ends. Too bad since it was getting really good. I didn't read the first booka, so I will be looking for a copy. I wish Touch Me had more of a finish but I am not sure if was intended to be a cliff hanger...such a tease.

more like a 3.5 that being said .......

I dare say it took me a minute, okay maybe a quarter of the way through, to get into this short novella. I am not going to blame that on the author when it was my fault for not reading the first two books. I got this book off Netgalley without realizing it was a 2.5 short teaser leading into book 3. That being said, once I did get into it, I really enjoyed the flow and Bailey helped. My kinda leading lady. Smart and funny, plus she isn't a shrinking violet. This novella is only 35 pages, so I won't leave much of a description. I will just say that even though it took me a bit to get into this short, Hogan wetted my appetite enough to have me go purchase the other books in the series. I know I should start at book one, but the chemistry between Rafe and Bailey that you get in this novella, makes me want to jump right into book 3 and see how they end up. Hogan, you just gained a fan in me. I do wish the novella was slightly longer and more fleshed out, but that is my only complaint. I am only sorry I didn't read the other books first before reading this one.

What a great, quick summer read!
This book is a wonderful introduction to Tamara Hogan's Underbelly Chronicles. This is a short novella that takes place in the wonderful world that Tamara has created. It wets your appetite for the rest of the series and leaves you wanting more!
This is the start of Bailey and Rafe's story! It is really just a teaser of what is to come. It is a quick, hot, sexy ride into this magical world. It leaves you wanting more! It is short but I was able to relate and quickly grow to like both Bailey and Rafe and want to see more of this couple. I will be getting the next book in the series.
If you have not read any of the books in the series, this is a great little novella to introduce you to the characters and Underbelly world. I think you might just come to like the series and read the rest of books as well! I know I am now a fan and I cannot wait to read more in this series!

I got this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review..

This was a good short story. It was a fast read, and even though I did not read the first 2 books, I was still able to jump right in without being horribly confused.

This story is about a girl named Bailey who just found out that their are supernatural in the world, and they have their own underworld community with presidents. She was going to a concert that humans where not allowed to attend.

She was excited, but nervous because she was told that some of these creatures live off the emotions of others and they release pheromones that turns people on. Bailey was never given a pill to stop these feelings and she found herself in a sticky situation when her boss/ crush takes her to get some pills...

This was a delicious tease of a read. It does an excellent job setting up the cast of others and the world. The heroine is a spunky hacker who finally gets a chance with a smoking hot sex demon. They will get their own novel later and while I would have preferred this story to be complete I am excited to spend more time with them. The writing is well done here and I have high hopes that when the romances is fully developed the love story will be as well.

I was given this book for my honest review.

If you like these themes cast-of-others, crush, discovered-world, genius herione, great-worldbuilding, hacker heroine, nerd-geek heroine, short-hair heroine, incubus hero, artist hero, blonde hero, you will enjoy this short story!

Touch Me by Tamara Hogan
Underbelly Chronicles #2.5
I guess that I missed the bus on this series. It is either hit or miss reading a novella in the middle of a series. Lately, I have had good luck and the novella has been enough to draw me to the series and I end up going back and reading the whole series. This novella didn’t do that.
There really wasn’t much to this novella. It started off explaining off lots of different sups. There was one sex scene and a lot of characters who I didn’t really connect with. Maybe if there was more back-story or a plot line or something to draw me in I should have connected more.

I enjoyed this novella because it was easy to follow and even though I hadn't been introduced to the characters by reading the earlier novels in the series, I picked up on the story quite quickly.

It definitely had me hooked from the start and it was well written. It gave me a good idea of what the series will be like and I am actually looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

HOT! I now need to get me the rest of this series...

this is very short but still gives you all the info you need. you don't feel like you've missed anything vital by not reading the previous books, and it leaves you hungry for more to come in the next book.

Vampires, werewolves, Valkyrie, faeries, sirens, incubi and succubi... and of course, mere humans. and it all adds up to some super-charged hotness!

This is put under the category of novella, but it is really a short story. If you haven’t read any of the books in the Underbelly Chronicles series than don’t read this. This story takes place between the second and upcoming third book of the series. This basically feels like you flipped to the middle of a book, read one chapter leading up to a sex scene, and then another chapter that is the sex scene.

This was a fun little read. I think over all Bailey took everything really well.
I would have been out of my mind....Oh but wait Bailey did get of her mind....She didn't wait for the meds to tone down the effects Incubi and Succubi have on humans.
OMG Rafe is here to help....LOL
It's a great start for anyone to the series and I totally wonder what happens next.
The characters are great. The story line has so much promise of fun twist and turns..
Just Fun and entertaining!

I enjoyed this quick read, once I was able to catch on. It should definitely be read in with the series. On page one you feel like you jumped to chapter 3 or 4, but with the it's of humor and sext concert I'm interested in how it all started.

I follow the series so I knew where this was, but I would have loved if it had been a bit longer and fleshed out a bit more.
