Seduction for Beginners is a mini sequel to Jae's novel Something in the Wine, in which Annie and Drew met and fell in love, turning especially Annie’s life upside down. The short story will now give readers a glimpse of the next step in their relationship.

For Annie, work always took precedence over romance. But now, recently come-out and involved in a relationship with a woman for the first time, Annie is determined to seduce her girlfriend, Drew, on Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, she has no clue as to the arts of seduction.

Jae is the author of twenty-six award-winning romances between women. She lives in the sunniest city of Germany, near the French and Swiss borders. The writing bug bit her at the age of eleven.

She used to work as a psychologist but gave up her day job in 2013 to become a full-time writer and a part-time editor. As far as she’s concerned, it’s the best job in the world.

When she’s not writing, she is an avid reader of sapphic books, indulges her ice cream and office supply addictions, and watches way too many crime shows.

“Something in the Wine” (SITW) ended with
Annie didn’t care about what her colleagues would think anymore. She grabbed Drew by the lapel of her blazer, pulled her closer, and kissed her.”

Yum…but…that was it, sigh.

“Seduction for Beginners” is a short story sequel to SITW. In most books it would have been an epilogue, and since it’s included with the Kindle version of SITW, it feels like an epilogue.

Whatever you call it, it’s wonderful! Three months after SITW ended, the gentle humor continues, with Annie craving sex while knowing that Drew won’t pressure her. Annie contemplates the situation:

Drew had let Annie initiate their first real kiss, and now it would have to be Annie who introduced lovemaking into their relationship. She sighed. Sometimes, having a considerate girlfriend was a pain in the ass.

Annie plans for an intimate weekend getaway, and to surprise Drew with a declaration of intent by wearing a thong. Humor continues, but gives way at last to a very satisfyingly steamy erotic scene between Annie and Drew. Nice closure to SITW! 5*!

Novella romance, second in a series. Anne is in her first relationship and wants to also make it her first intimate one. Nicely done.

I've got to hand it to Jae...she definitely varies her intimate connections depending on the characters. This short story is the love scene between Annie and Drew that just didn't fit into the context of Something In the Wine. I wouldn't say this is necessarily erotic but it has intimacy and charm. I'd say only read this if you read the novel first so you can fully appreciate it.

Nice bonus chapter.

This short story was exactly what I was missing after I read Something in the Wine
Very satisfying to get the development I was hoping for between Annie and Drew.

Words that come to mind. Cute. Short. TOO short.

I'm glad to finally see Annie and Drew make love. It was well written but while I felt just a little more satisfied, I wish there was just MORE. More about this night.

I would have also liked to have read things from Drew's point of view. If you've read "Something in the Wine" the actual story that precedes this, you'll know how irritating it can be in Annie's head and the story is told with both POVs. The sequel could have been written the same. After reading the 1st paragraph I had hoped Annie had progressed some but she's still unnecessarily angsty. Take a chill pill. What more does this woman have to do to prove that she loves you? Drew is pretty damn amazing.

But it was still cute and I am thankful that the Jae wrote this for us, but it would have been cool if I had gotten just a little more. The morning after? One more scene? Drew's perspective? Come on!

This was the ending I was longing for at the end of Something In The Wine. It essentially serves as SITW’s epilogue. Very nice, quick read to tie up the loose end.

Such a cute story of a woman in need of seducing her gf...for the first time. Annie can’t wait to share an intimate connection with Drew so she sets up a romantic Valentine’s Day Date. The innocence and excitement of the moment is captured well in this short story.

Very short epilogue after the main story end. Talking erotically is not one of Jae's strong points :D or it was just me who wasn't really impressed by the act.

Something in the Wine ended a bit abruptly for my taste, and it is nice to know, that there is this mini-sequel short story about those characters, and you can have a little insight in their relationship after a few months. I think it would be better, if the book ended with this short story included in the storyline, but anyhow it's a fine story, if you've read the novel and the sequel short story as well.

A short adjunct to Something in the Wine. I think it'd hold up on its own but there's not much point really if you haven't read Something in the Wine.

Same characters here. Unfortunately the passing of time hasn't made Annie any less angsty.

Nevertheless a satisfying encore to Something in the Wine

A first read for me

SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO: established couple, free book, full-time writer, unusual job, favorite trope, coming-out story, romantic comedy (possibly other categories)

I've had this for some time, but I didn't want to read it until I had reread Something in the Wine to refresh my memory. It was sweet and adorable, and readers finally got the love scene they'd been waiting for since the novel was released.

For those that need a hot and steamy ending of Something in the Wine: The Moonstone Series #1 (one of my all-time favorite novels), this is a very short, one chapter story.

It gives you the two heroines preparing for, and having, explicit sex. No need to worry about any other ‘distracting’ content :-).

Playful and sexy
Annie is on a mission - she is trying to seduce Drew. But, there are certain obstacles that get in the way. Like her own ignorance, and certain garments, and the waiter, and the weather ... Be seduced by Jae's writing and discover what happens when the main characters from Something in the Wine go on a date for Valentine's Day.

Jae’s short story is a follow-up to her book Something in the Wine. The story is so sweet and loving, I loved the care shown to Annie. Her lover Drew is kind and patient. Annie has never been with a woman and wants everything to be perfect. Drew is the perfect companion to a very nervous, shy lover. Jae’s greatest talent as a writer are her insights about the inner worlds of her characters.

I needed this short sequel after reading Something in the wine. Because that was lacking their love story. And it was good...but...she was not a virgin. I understand the angst of sleeping with a woman for the first time, but this was a bit much angst. And the story was to short.

Loved this sequel to Something in the Wine. Annie, still as shy and awkward as ever, Drew, still as comforting as ever in this short encounter meant to highlight their first time having sex on Valentine's day.

Jae is an awesome writer.

Goodness, that was at times a bit funny and then, so HOT. It reminded me that I need to reread Something in the Wine again. The two MCs are seemingly a mismatch, but together they’re charming. Sweet story and excellent follow up.

A charming love tale for Valentine's Day

A sensitive respectful and humorous tale of a newly coupled "first time." As a follow up story to Something in the Wine this charming account is dessert for a satisfying meal and as you a stand alone story you will read with a smile on your face.

Great Sequel

This is a great continuation of the story of Drew and Annie from Jae's previous novel Something in the Wine. If you wanted to know what happened after tbey got together, this will give a glimpse into the more intimate side of their relationship.

Poor Annie for having a too understanding and respectful girlfriend, because she can’t bring herself to make a first move. But unfortunately, she has to since Drew respects boundaries.

This was a fun read as a short sequel to Something in the Wine.

Great short story bonus epilogue to Something In The Wine. Read that first! This was a good, short, little follow-up to the novel. I wish it was included in the original novel, that would be better, but this was available free from the authors website.
