Read for my toddler's bedtime. All good wishes for kids. Wishes from parents to their children. Such as, "May You Love and Be Loved, May You Know Fear but Not Be Driven By It, May You Know Joy and Follow It Everywhere, May You Know Light and Shine It Every Chance You Get, May You Try New Things Especially Food even if it's just one bite" and many more! Super cute illustrations! The author said this book started as a poem with good wishes for her daughters that could be used as good wishes for everyone!

This is a great book! Some of my favorite lines:

Beautiful! I listened to this book as an audio version read by the author, Cleo Wade, that was one of the month’s Advanced Listener’s Copy from Libro.FM. Thank you to both Libro.fm and Feiwel & Friends for doing this!

This book is a poem, dedicated to the author’s daughters, but as she mentions in the author note, what she wishes for her daughters are the same wishes she holds for everyone. I find that this book perfectly captures all the wishes you hold for a loved one that you don’t always know how to express. You want them to be happy and love and be loved, but what does that entail? This book may be written with a children audience in mind, but it can apply to anyone and everyone. In fact, a lot of these things are things we forget as we get older and need reminding of, particularly when we have been tested by the bitter moments of life.

The author’s reading is so poignant as well, her voice carries the sentiments on the page as though she is someone you could come to after making a mistake and know they would understand and only wish for your happiness and to tell you to keep going. A reassurance, a hug.

I was given this book as a Christmas present from my mom. She said she saw the book and thought of me, hoping it would inspire me to write and illustrate a book of my own one day. It’s fair to say I was inspired! Yes, this may be a children’s book, but it has lessons we should all try to live by day in and out despite our age. The author’s note reads wishes she holds for all of us: “That we love and be loved and be alive while we are here. Your time on earth is deeply precious. May you turn it into a great adventure” and I took that to heart. I loved the illustrations and found it incredibly endearing that the book grew out of a poem she wrote for her children! It is the type of book all parents should read their children! A gentle reminder to embrace who you are, love deeply, live life in the moment and not take the limited time we have for granted!

I received Chloe Wade’s latest book at a conference run by Lyra, the mental health care provider this week, after listening to Chloe speak about authenticity and vulnerability. I’ve long appreciated her poetry. So that’s my lens if helpful.


I’ll admit I’d planned to give the copy to a friend with small kids - it felt a shame not to pass on. Once I read the brief, and beautifully illustrated book, I didn’t want to part ways with it.

I wanted to go buy it for so many of my adult friends and parents. Such a sweet and kind love note… a number of lines took my breath away: “may your dreams be constant companions” ♥️

A wonderful and poetic book about seeing the beauty in everyday life. It's filled with lyrical, thoughtful and kind wishes for children.

I listened to this calming book, which is poetically narrated by author, Cleo Wade. The sound design enhanced my listening experience. Thanks Macmillian Audio and NetGalley for the ALC.

Would recommend this audiobook for winding down in the car, or when wrapping up a busy day. I definitely shed some happy tears.

This book was adorable, it made me feel quite teary. I loved it. I listened to the audiobook, which was narrated by the author, and she did an amazing job. The audio had a lullaby quality including music in the background. I feel like this would make a great gift for little ones, and that the audio also works as a loving kindness meditation for anyone.

„Love and be loved“ von Cleo Wade ist ein wundervolles und zärtliches Bilderbuch. Es ist kraftgebend, inspirierend und lebensbejahend. Cleo Wade richtet ihre Worte nicht nur an Kinder, sondern genauso an die Erwachsenen, die sie begleiten. Und vielleicht sogar noch mehr an das innere Kind in uns selbst.

„Gestolpert“ bin ich vor allem über den Satz: „Mögest du jemand sein, den du liebst.“ Er hat mich wirklich zum Nachdenken gebracht. Nicht nur unseren Kindern sollten wir diesen Glaubenssatz immer wieder nahebringen. Wir sollten vor allem uns auch selbst dies immer wieder vor Augen führen. Oft gehen wir mit uns selbst so hart ins Gericht, dabei sollten wir viel öfter liebevoller mit uns umgehen. Selbstliebe ist schließlich kein Luxus, sondern das Fundament für alles.

Auch folgende Affirmation fand ich besonders schön und inspirierend:

„Möge dein Geist immer aufgeschlossen sein und mögest du immer ein wenig merkwürdig sein. Oder auch sehr, sehr merkwürdig. Möge deine Merkwürdigkeit deine Superkraft sein. Möge sie dich ermuntern, dich in nahe und ferne Abenteuer zu stürzen.“

Das ist geradezu eine Einladung, so zu sein, wie man ist. Eine liebevolle Erlaubnis zur Eigenheit. Ich bin genau richtig, wie ich bin.

Aber auch tiefgründige und berührende Affirmationen zum Beispiel zum Thema Angst sind in dem Bilderbuch zu finden. Sie verdeutlichen, dass Angst und negative Gefühle normal und auch zum Leben dazugehören. Sie dürfen da sein, entscheidend ist nur, dass sie uns nicht beherrschen.

Es sind so viele weitere wundervolle Affirmationen in dem Buch. Ihr müsst sie einfach selbst entdecken!

Die Illustrationen im Inneren sind zart und zauberhaft. Positiv hervorzuheben ist, dass das Buch nicht mit Bildern überladen ist. Jedes einzelne Bild darf mit der jeweiligen Affirmation für sich wirken. Die Illustrationen unterstützen die Worte, drängen sich aber nicht in den Vordergrund.

„Love and be loved“ ist ein Buch, das man nicht nur einmal liest, sondern immer wieder zur Hand nimmt. Es eignet sich wunderbar als Geschenk, für Kinder, für Jugendliche, aber ebenso für Erwachsene.

Ein Buch voller liebevoller Erinnerungen daran, wer wir im Kern sind: wertvoll, einzigartig und liebenswert.

Dieses Review bezieht sich auf die deutsche Edition, erschienen unter dem Titel "Love and be loved: Meine Wünsche für dich. Ein inspirierendes Bilderbuch für Erwachsene über Träume und Wünsche von Instagram-Star Cleo Wade" und der ISBN 3690380081 im Verlag DRESSLER illustro.

Ich kenne Konjunktiv-I-Formulierungen wie z.B. „Mögest Du …“ aus Segenssprüchen, Wünschen und Verwünschungen. Oftmals in einem spirituellen Kontext oder bei Meditationen. Deshalb passt es ganz gut, dass in diesem Geschenkebuch diese Formulierung sehr oft anzutreffen ist.

Und so bringt schon der erste Satz des Buchs zum Ausdruck, was der Schenkende dem Beschenkten wünscht: „Mögest Du lieben und geliebt werden“ (im englischen Original „May You Love and Be Loved“). Die us-amerikanische Autorin Cleo Wade hat den Text dieses Buchs zuerst als Gedicht verfasst, das sie ihren beiden Töchtern Memphis Love und Bayou Beloved gewidmet hat (mittlerweile hat die Autorin eine dritte Tochter namens „Magnolia Amour Kinberg“. Sie scheint einen (us-typischen) Hang für ungewöhnliche Namen zu haben).

Die Illustrationen in diesem Buch stammen ebenfalls von der Autorin und dürfen durchaus als „kindlisch“ bezeichnet werden. Aber auch passend zu dem Gedicht, das durchwoben ist von Wünschen nach Liebe, Gleichberechtigung und Toleranz. Das Ausmalen der „Hohlräume“ der Buchstaben mag vielleicht ein Markenzeichen der Autorin sein, aber ich finde, dass der Text dadurch weniger ansprechend und ein wenig „schlammpig“ aussieht. In Deutschland wird dieses Buch als „Geschenkebuch für Erwachsene“ eingeordnet bzw. beworben, während es in den USA ein Kinderbuch für Kinder ab 3 bis 6 Jahren ist. Ich denke, dass beides gleichermaßen zutrifft.

Für die einen zu schlicht und zu unperfekt, für die anderen liebevoll und rückbesinnend. Cleo Wade hat mit diesem Buch ein Werk voller Zuneigung für ihre Töchter geschaffen. Begonnen hat alles mit einem Gedicht, aus dem schließlich ein illustriertes Geschenkbuch beziehungsweise Bilderbuch entstanden ist.

Die Illustrationen sind einfach, kindlich, fast so, als wären sie nebenbei hingekritzelt, ohne künstlerischen Anspruch oder technische Raffinesse. Genau das mag viele stören. Für mich jedoch liegt darin der Charme des Buches und die konsequente Spiegelung seiner Botschaft. Es geht um liebevolle Wünsche, um Bestärkung darin, man selbst zu sein, den eigenen Weg zu gehen, das zu tun, was man mag, und das Leben auszukosten, unabhängig vom ständigen Druck, sich anzupassen.

Gerade um diesem Anpassungsdruck zu widersprechen, wirken die farbigen Scribbles so stimmig. Technisch saubere, perfekte Illustrationen hätten die Message verfehlt. Auch der Text bleibt bewusst einfach. Keine große Poesie, keine sprachlichen Kunststücke, sondern klare, herzliche Gedanken, die der Seele guttun.

Es ist weder ein herausragendes Werk in Bezug auf Sprache noch auf Kunst, aber eines in Bezug auf Herz und Haltung. Ein leiser, warmer Gegenentwurf zum allgegenwärtigen Perfektionswahn.

I am not really sure that Cleo Wade could do any wrong with the books/projects she creates. MAY YOU LOVE AND BE LOVED is a lyrical love note to not only Wade's two daughters but to all the children across the world.

Young minds need to hear these positive affirmations in their lives as they go on an adventure in school and then end the day at home. I love how there are so many different situations where another affirmation can develop and grow into a full blossom by the book's end.

I know the illustrations are very simple and with Wade's signature style but it continues to draw me and make me read with gusto. After reading this to a group of students, volunteering at an after-school program, or just reading to your own children at bedtime, I know that this book will make all involved laughing and thinking.

Cleo Wade encourages us (of all ages) to find a path to being better human beings. I love that for us--we just have to be ready and willing to open our hearts for kindness and love.

„Love and be loved – Meine Wünsche für dich“ ist ein Buch, das Cleo Wade ihren beiden Töchtern widmet. Auf 46 Seiten drückt sie ihre Wünsche für ihre Töchter und auch für die Leser aus.

Ich liebe die Farben des Buches; sie sind lebendig und aufmunternd. Die Sätze sind zwar kurz, aber voller Gefühl und Aufrichtigkeit. Die Schriftart erinnerte mich an meine Kindheit. Wenn ich mich im Unterricht langweilte, unterstrich ich oft Buchstaben mit Bleistift, daher versetzte mich das Schriftbild sofort zurück in meine Kindheit – ein sehr vertrautes Gefühl.

Ich liebe die warme Sprache, die schöne Schriftart, die satten Farben und die Illustrationen – das sind die Stärken des Buches. Die Schwächen sind jedoch auch offensichtlich. Das Buch wirkt auf mich zu leer; es besteht nur aus leeren Worten, nicht anders als eine Grußkarte, ohne wirklichen Inhalt. Und ich finde den Preis für den Inhalt etwas hoch. Ehrlich gesagt, würde ich keine 20 Euro für dieses Buch ausgeben.

Love and be loved beinhaltet - wie der Titel schon andeutet - Wünsche für mehr Liebe und Geborgenheit im Leben. Ein Bilderbuch für Erwachsene das einlädt, sich wieder Zeit für sich zu nehmen und sich auf das Wesentliche zu besinnen. Wunderbaren traumhafte Illustrationen zaubern einem ein Lächeln auf das Gesicht. Die Sprüche sind poetisch und regen zum Nachdenken und philosophieren an. Ein schönes Buch zum Durchblättern, jeder Spruch für sich ist ein schöner Wunsch an sich selbst (oder an jemand andere) wieder mehr auf die schönen Seiten des Lebens zu schauen und stimmt einen äußerst positiv.
Einen Stern Abzug gebe ich für die Schriftart. Die gefüllten, angemalten Bögen der Buchstaben (zB bei B, D, O) passt meiner Meinung nach nicht gut ins Design und erschwert das Lesen ein wenig.
Fazit: ideal nicht nur als wertvolles Geschenk für einen lieben Menschen, sondern auch um sich selbst etwas Gutes zu tun!

"Love and be loved" ist ein typisches Geschenkbuch, das man aber auch gerne selber in einer ruhigen Minute in die Hand nimmt. "Mögest du..." - so beginnt eine jede Seite und es folgt ein Wunsch, der wirklich von Herzen zu kommen scheint. Manchmal ist dieser direkt anrührend, vielleicht auch zum Nachdenken anregend, hin und wieder inspirierend, Wünsche an eigene liebe Menschen zu formulieren. Es gibt aber auch immer mal wieder Wünsche, die mich nicht so überzeugt haben. Vielleicht liegt es auch an einer etwas unaufmerksamen Übersetzung.
Die Illustrationen wirken in ihrer schlichten und persönlichen Gestaltung auf eine zarte Weise berührend. Insgesamt ist es mit dem großen Format recht hochwertig gestaltet und eignet sich sicher gut zum Verschenken, z.B. Geburt, 18.Geburtstag...
Es ist vielleicht kein Buch, das man unbedingt besitzen muss, wenn man es aber mit etwas Muße durchblättert, einen warmes und wohliges Gefühl hinterlässt.

Dieses Buch ist wirklich wunderschön gestaltet, die Optik ist erstklassig. Besonders die bunten Farben, die liebevollen Skizzen und die detailreichen Illustrationen gefallen mir sehr – sie wirken, als hätte ein Kind sie selbst gemalt, voller Fantasie und Freude. Und sehr einfach, simpel gemalt. Teilweise übergemalt, wie bei Kindern eben oft so üblich ist.

Die Sätze sind einfach, nett und leicht verständlich, sodass man sie gerne liest. Trotzdem vergebe ich insgesamt nur drei Sterne, weil ich persönlich etwas mehr inhaltliche Tiefe oder Überraschung erwartet hatte. Die schönen Bilder und Farben machen das Lesen angenehm, doch die Texte wirken eher schlicht bzw. Overflächlich und hinterlassen nicht das gewisse Etwas, das mich vollkommen begeistert hätte und das ich erwartet hatte.

Zielgruppe können meiner mMn sowohl Kinder als auxh Erwacjsene sein

I give this book 5 stars because it encourages readers to embrace joy, kindness, courage, and the beauty of being themselves. I would say the book is written for younger children, but follow-up activities/conversations could be modified for older ages. its universal messages make it meaningful for readers of all ages. The affirmations allows and encourage children to think about who they are and how they treat others which makes it a good read for all ages! I would have 1st-3rd grade students write/talk about their own wishes, either for themselves, a classmate, or the world. They might write “May you always have a friend to play with,” or “May you be brave when trying something new.” I would collect these and display on a bulletin board titled Wishes for Our Classroom.

This audiobook version of May You Love and Be Loved that was read by the author was very sweet and super short. She has the perfect cadence for the book. I loved the outdoor sounds that played in the background as she read. This would be a great book to play for your child or read every night before bed or 1st thing in the morning as they go out into the world. May you Love and be loved, we should all start and end out day that way!

This audiobook was adorable and sweet. It was a short read. Cleo's voice was perfect for this book, and I loved the sounds that played in the background. I really liked the pacing of the story. It didn't seem rushed or slow. This is a great audiobook for children and adults. I also think it would be great to play in the mornings—it would be a nice way to start the day.

This is a sweet book of wishes for the littles in your life. It’s hopeful and heartwarming, and radiates positivity, but most of all it’s a reminder that love can do so much if we allow it to. I enjoyed the music in the background. It kept the feel of the narration light and gave it even more movement, often how the illustrations help to carry the story along in picture books. I would love to see a physical copy to compare.

One of my favorite teachers ever, my 7th grade math teacher, gave me this book as a gift for 8th grade graduation. I’ve been in the school empowerment club, which she is the supervisor of, for the past 2 years, and I feel as though this book can kind of encompass what we did in that time. Well, I guess I was apart of it, but I feel as though this book was a fitting exit from it.

It is such a sweet book, and so many more people should be finding and reading this book and more by Cleo Wade!!!

This was a beautiful read! I read it while in the target book section waiting on my husband. As a third grade teacher with no children, the things in this book are easily what I wish for my students. I no doubt will hope, wish, and pray for the same things for my future children. I recommend this to teachers with students, parents waiting for their miracles, and parents that already get to hold their miracles in their arms. Immediately purchased for my future child’s library!

This was surprisingly good. The wishes and affirmations are occasionally quirky and unexpected, in addition to the standard fare you'd expect to see in a Hallmark greeting card, and the illustrations are sweet. This is a nice book for parents to read to their young children, and it could also be a nice gift book for older kids, teens, and adults.

This is hardly “just” a children’s book—this book is full of lovely affirmations for adults and kids alike.

I enjoyed the art. I think some of the language (words/phrases like “in abundance” and “heavenly shelters”) could be confusing for younger readers. The sentiments were sweet and gentle regardless. I look forward to reading this with my son (6) and seeing his reaction.

This was a darling and sweet book! I loved listening to it with my kids. It’s all I’ve wanted to tell them but more beautifully put than I could ever come up with. They ask to listen to it nightly. The sound effects make the story top notch.
