Hello my loveliez! It is a pleasure to have you join me on Patreon. E.R. Baine is my alias, I started writing poetry as a young girl. I later began writing prose. I love romance, science fiction and fantasy. I got into writing paranormal in the early 2000s and the genre is still near and dear to my heart. I love scifi. My favorite interracial scifi couple is Allison Blake and Jack Carter from Eureka, though Iris and Barry from The Flash is winning out. Can't forget Tom and Torres from Star Trek Voyager. I admit, I'm a geeky girly girl.

Surreal Blue Rouge Agent is a mashup of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and James Bond. I was enamored with both properties growing up and I wanted to read about a James Bond type character that had supernatural elements to it. And though I grew up reading books and literature that showcased more Caucasian characters, I wanted more diverse characters to populate my universe.

Surreal Blue Rogue Agent is supposed to be a totally 100% immersive perspective of my creativity. Meaning I design the covers, I develop the characters, I even wrote a song for the series. I hope to one day see my characters on the big screen.

I am just beginning to reveal myself as an authoress because I wasn't sure which direction I wanted to take my writing. Should I stick with the conservative, staid path as I had been educated in writing for years? Or should I loosen my grip on reality and go boldly where no man has gone before? And I chose to go boldly into no man's land. If you do not understand what I mean, feel free to read Love So Wicked on my site under Free Romance Novel.

Right now I'm on a Courtney Milan reading kick. A lot of my characters are Asian, and I am very nervous I am going to botch them up.

I attended Newtown Girl's R.C. School, Bishop Anstey High School, Diego Martin Finishing School, did a few courses at University of the West Indies, attended Claflin University and University of the Southern Caribbean where I garnered a minor in English. Right now I'm completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Successful Business Management & Leadership (MBA Level 7). I took part in the free Yale Online University courses in English, as well as various online English labs such as Write Here Write Now on the BBC radio in the early 2000s and some others.

I love to write, but I'm trying to force myself to become an exuberant prolific writer. Sometimes I get lazy with my writing, from now on I intend to push myself to "write" above all else.

Reviewed for THC Reviews
For the second time in as many months, I'm faced with writing a critical review of a book I've personally been asked to review. As I've said in the past, this isn't something I relish doing, but I feel I have an obligation as a reviewer to be as honest as possible in expressing my experiences with each book I read. Quite frankly, I finished Do or Die feeling dazed and confused. I pride myself in having excellent reading comprehension, so until now, I don't think I've ever read a story where I couldn't really fathom exactly what was happening. Reading this novella was kind of like wandering through someone's dreams. It felt like little more than a series of disconnected scenes that lacked a cohesive flow. I easily could have been lost in the jungle of its Trinidadian setting for as well as I understood the plot. It was a highly unsatisfying read on a number of levels, not the least of which was its abrupt and bizarre ending. I read the final words thinking, “That's it?” I realize that this is supposed to be the first in a series, so I'm guessing that the story will be continued in future novellas. However, I've never read a book before, series or otherwise, that ended leaving me with more questions than answers. If this was intended to be a serialized novel, that should have been made more clear in the cover blurb. Without a knowledge that the story is 'to be continued,' I think the vast majority of readers will go into reading a romance with the expectation that it will have some sort of happy and satisfying ending, but this one certainly didn't.

I couldn't honestly tell you whether I liked Viktor and Audrianna, the hero and heroine, or not. They and all the characters in general were one-dimensional and markedly underdeveloped. Even after reading the entire story, I can't tell you much about either one of them, because precious little information is given about them. Viktor is a Russian tycoon and diplomat, but I have no idea how he came by his fortune or why he was chosen as a diplomat or what his jobs entail. He also wields supernatural powers that it appears he has suppressed for a time until his wife is kidnapped. I think he is some sort of sorcerer, but I'm not entirely certain. He is, however, extremely arrogant and scarily possessive of his wife, which isn't really my cup of tea. Audrianna is mentioned at one point to be the Chief Information Officer in Viktor's company, and at another point is said to be an amateur scientist, but I couldn't tell you anything about what she does in either capacity. She is also a werewolf who never phased, but who mysteriously summoned an energy ball that was never explained. This is really all I learned about either one of these characters. There is no backstory, no meaningful introspection, no emotional journey, nothing that really speaks to who they are, what they do, or why they do it.

The prologue made some sense, but from the moment I started the first chapter, I felt like I'd been dropped into the middle of a story and was grasping for some sort of foothold to understand what was going on. If it hadn't been for the cover blurb mentioning that Audrianna had been kidnapped, I probably wouldn't have been able to figure out even that much. The characters and situations were introduced at a rapid-fire pace with no background and little description as to who they were and what was happening. It took a long time to figure out werewolves were a part of the story, and I'm still not sure what type of powers they possessed. The action sequences were very confusing to follow. Half the time, I didn't know who were the bad guys and who were the good guys. As an aside, I normally have a fairly high tolerance for violence in books, but for me, the violence level in this one was bordering on gratuitous. The head-hopping was very distracting as well. Frequently, there were abrupt switches from one character's POV to a different character and scene entirely without any warning at all which was extremely jarring. Overall, this story was in desperate need of a lot more transitions and details to pull everything together in a comprehensible way.

As I mentioned earlier, even after finishing the story, I find myself with more questions than answers. In addition to the things I've already mentioned not understanding, I still have no real grasp on why Audrianna was kidnapped in the first place. I don't understand why Viktor didn't sufficiently trust the former military men who acted as bodyguards for him and his wife to reveal their supernatural abilities to them, or why he allowed them to go on their own rescue mission to save his wife when he was already taking his own team in. It seemed like a situation that easily could have ended in disaster. I couldn't figure out how Audrianna survived the explosion set off by the villain. I have no idea what the two bodyguards, Lincoln and Mat, were talking about at the bar in New York, who the Carlos person was that they were discussing sending to Mexico or why they were sending him, or who the person in the car was who picked them up when they left the bar. I'm even more in the dark about the mysterious, unnamed person who actually was in Mexico and blew up a jail. And last, but not least, I'm baffled as to whether Audrianna was channeling another person at the end, and if so, who, or if she simply wasn't Audrianna at all. Every one of these things have left me perplexedly scratching my head.

My last issue with the story is that for a book that appears to be billed as romance, there really isn't any to be found within its pages. Yes, there was a proposal in the prologue, but I'm sorry to say that a man hanging the supposed love of his life over a cliff to get her to agree to marry him isn't romantic to me at all. There are also two love scenes, one of which is very erotic, but again, sex does not equal romance. This story contained no romantic gestures and no tender moments of any kind. Even after Audrianna is rescued, Viktor goes around acting like a caveman, making veiled threats towards practically any man who comes near her, and even threatening her life if she ever cheats on him, not to mention, said erotic love scene takes place right after the rescue when she's still in the hospital. I suppose the fact that he went after her in the first place could be taken as a romantic gesture, but it just didn't work for me on that level. To me, it seemed like he did that more because he viewed her as his possession that he wasn't going to allow anyone else to have, rather than because he loved her deeply. I don't even recall them saying that they loved one another, which is usually an absolute must for me in a romance.

Overall, Do or Die had way too many weaknesses to be an enjoyable read for me. I could see some potential in it though, which is why I gave it two stars. There were some decent ingredients that could have made an intriguing story if only it had been fleshed out a lot more. If more care had been given to shoring up details, explaining events better, and character development, instead of leaving everything to the reader's imagination, I think this novella could have been a great story, and with those additions, probably would have been even better as a full-length novel. As is though, it felt like little more than the bare bones of a story.

Note: This novella contains explicit language and sexual situations including anal sex and exhibitionism, which may offend some readers.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

In fairness, I read the look inside sample on Amazon.

I need someone to explain to me a few things:

1. The spelling.
2. Why is a woman wearing a fur coat in a tropical rainforest?
3. Can't write p**sy but can write c**k?
4. How many hands does Vicktor (or Victor) have?
5. How are eyes diverted?

In the brutal games of power, one Russian tycoon’s wife is kidnapped and the battle to get her back, intact and alive begins. Do or Die by E. R. Baine is the first book in a new series that has been used to set the stage, introduce the characters and prepare the readers for what is to come, next. A proud and powerful man must turn to a werewolf pack for help, but the price he must pay could be far too steep, even for him.

Enter E.R. Baine’s world, feel the chaos and meet the players in this brief introduction to a new series designed to whet one’s appetite for what is to come. Players are sketched out, while leaving enough mystery surrounding them to bring us back for more in depth reading. Hopefully we will be able to learn of each character, and the role they will play in the next book.

I received this copy as part of a blog tour for E.R. Baine in exchange for my honest review.

Not sure how fair it is that I am writing a review not having finished the book and not having any intent on finishing the book. I am not sure what it is but I can't get through this book. I have tried on and off for the last couple of YEARS. I can't do it. I can't explain why I am not getting this book. Maybe it seems disjointed or that I can't follow the dialogue or maybe I just don't understand what the hell is going on. Either way I can't get through this book and I have more than tried. This has only happened one time before with a different book and author and then it took me 6 months to get through the book. I hated I could not follow this book but there you have it.

This book could have been better, if it wasn't all over the place. The author was trying to put too much into a few pages. It left me with more questions than answeres. How did this couple meet? Who exactly is Xin-at first he seems to be the one who had abducted her but then he's her father? I hope the author either re-writes this or give a prequel for this series.

I don't know if I started in the middle of a series or what (even though this is supposed to be the first book), but I never could figure out what the heck the plot of this story was. It jumped all over the place and just didn't make sense.

Do or Die...Pretty much dead on arrival.

Surreal is an accurate description. This is a confusing, mass jumble of words vomited out into 197 pages of a poorly written, poorly edited, lacking substance, horrid tale supposedly about an abduction.

The characters are poorly written and underdeveloped unless you count the over exaggerated description of unimportant attributes and an improper attempt at describing wealthy and powerful. Not only is this book poorly written, but it’s also extremely boring and lacks focus and a true paranormal connection. The only interesting part of this story is the prologue and it’s all downhill after it.

Pass on this one and move on to something more stimulating and worthy of your time...This ain’t it.

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 1 star.

Lost and Confused

This story was super confusing and poorly edited. I did not understand half of what happened and have no desire to read book 2. This ended in a bizarre cliffhanger type manner and I am not a fan of cliffhangers.

The premise seemed good butter execution failed. I greatly dislike giving a bad review but there was no way around it. The characters were not well developed and the tossing together of every kind of paranormal did not work. This needs to be rewritten and repackaged.

Couldn't keep track

I was really hoping to love this series, but unfortunately I couldn't even grasp who or what I was reading. I did get that Viktor was looking for his kidnapped wife, but the characters' thoughts were all over place. I could quite keep track of who was thinking what. I could just be that I'm used to reading about either the heroine, the hero, or both. Not all characters at once.

Magic in the air

I loved the characters Viktor and Adrianne. They have a intense love for each other. The story was short, but packed alot of action. I would definitely recommend this book for a quick read.

I wanted to like this book but it took me until 58% to get into this book. The first half I just couldn't follow. It was all over the place. Plenty of action but it just didn't flow smoothly for me and everything was to convenient. The only thing I got was that the people were all powerful in some way. I went back to see if there was another book somewhere. I don't even know what most of them were all I know is there are werewolves and there is magic. There was no background really on anything (except Audrianna and Viktor getting together, briefly) and then when something need to be explained it was he knew the way because he had been there 5 years earlier.

Up until 58% I knew Audrianna was kidnapped and Viktor was trying to save her. At this point the book smoothed out and flowed pretty good for me but all the good unexplained stuff already happened.

3/19/13- Got an email from Amazon that this book has been updated. I will download the corrections and when I get a chance to re-read this one see if the corrections make a difference for my review and update if it's needed.

This book is a disjointed, unadulterated mess. Situations introduced without any lead-on, explanation or reason, there is no background on the characters, the writing style is choppy without any flow(I am sure readers can handle sentences that are more then 6-7 words long) with what feels like the chunks of story are missing. Even at the prologue my eyebrows were hitting the hairline in continuous Why? and What?!( Why in the tropical paradise a woman is wearing fur coat but naked underneath? Threatening to kill her as a marriage proposal following by a sex scene is psychotic, not romantic). I am not going to go in to the main body of the book which hardly made any sense, but the scene when Audrianna and Victor are in the hospital and having sex while his manservant Golub is in the room witnessing it and then Victor demands Golub's pants because his became , shell we say, compromised made me go "Yack!!!" . This is not the book I will revisit or recommend to anyone.

I read the reviews before I got the book, but I wanted to form my own opinions. The book has potential, but it just wasn't there. The beginning had no stage being set, no real storyline. There are too many characters and too many subplots, noticeable grammatical and spelling errors (which are not much of a deal to me as it is to others, but just too noticeable). If there were going to be so many characters, we need some type of background on these characters. Once I thought I figured out what was going on, it went left again. There was too much confusion. The end had me going, what the... I think if these issues were corrected that I would read again. My review is not bashing the author; it is neutral because of a lack of understanding. I won't say, don't buy this book, but I cannot recommend it as it is.

I didn't enjoy this book very much. One of the reasons was that it is not the usual genre that I read and entertain myself with. I enjoy paranormal with romance, but this was VERY paranormal with not so much romance as sexual drive. This is more my problem than the author's. Nevertheless, there was so much happening in the story that didn't give me any direction to the plot. If there were some back story to what was happening, that may solve some of the problem. I wasn’t able to get into the characters’ mind to understand how all this action felt. I couldn't figure out what was the real issue to the story. Much of the time I wasn't sure who the `bad guy' was and who was the `good guy'. I don’t like having to be so critical, but I need to write my review honestly.

I was gifted this book for an honest review. This is the first time I have read any of the Author's work and to be honest I was quite confused. The book starts with a bang, straight to action. I had to go back every time to reread and maybe figure out some of my ongoing questions. E.R.Baine has a unique way of writing. I couldn't figure out how everything that was being divulged had actually happened in the first place. But I must say, I was intrigued and damned curious about what comes next. The characters are vibrant but need more explaining about the who, what and how they came to be. Still I am looking forward to reading the next instalment.

I was given this book in exchange of an honest review.

This book seemed to jump all over the place. First the characters are intimate then the next page, a whole list of new characters are introduced, fighting to get female lead character away from kidnappers. There is no background on the characters or why she was kidnapped. I think the author tried explaining midway but still felt I was missing a key point. This has a great storyline but details need to be added. And the only romance was two sex scenes otherwise it reads more as a thriller with gun fighting and gory details.

These stories are erotica with a supernatural twist. The story is facinating about a were-bear mysticm ex assassin running a legitimate conglomerate, trying to raise a family and run an underground criminal empire, with his were wife, who is occasionally possessed by a saint. Thrown in a creepy priest, a were wolf pack, some vampires and a human or two and that about covers it.

I give these stories 4 out of 5 clouds and a chili pepper rating of 9, very hot.

This book started off a bit confusing and I had a very hard time figuring out what was going one at first. About half way through I gave up trying to figure out why anything was happening and just kept reading. Full of non-stop action, it was a bit much for me with no underlying storyline to explain why anything was happening.

Do or Die held my attention in one setting. A urban book about mystical being but set back in a different era I believe. I looked how the author took me to another side of this world.... This was a delightful read

I had to abandon this book, there was way too much going on for me as well as to many main characters. When reading paranormal books I like the human/shifter romance where one character is full human and another is a shifter. The beginning of the book moved too slow (in my opinion). I think it was to much to ask a reader to believe or accept the romance of a werewolf and a were-fox.

Unfortunately I can't give this book zero stars. I didn't understand any of it, even after re-reading passages. The plot jumps all over with no clear separation between POV changes, and frankly, I was uninterested in what I did read.

Too confusing.
