Major Sasha Young has been stationed at Alpha Colony for the past three years, part of an elite military team assigned to maintain order and resolve conflicts between the shapeshifters. She has watched the hostile morphs, secretly fascinated by their predatory grace and animal magnetism. The colonies were established to protect defenseless humans from these genetic anomalies. So why does she feel like the morphs are the ones being victimized?
Grayson Evans, a rare white-tiger shifter, is frustrated and appalled by how little their human keepers understand the average “morph.” After an especially violent altercation between leopard and tiger shifters, he decides it’s time to educate them. He’s had his eye on Sasha ever since she arrived, and introducing the feisty beauty to the full potential of a felidae-morph is going to be his pleasure -- and hers!

The story segment was fairly interesting, but the sex was meh! Felt like I was reading a BDSM primer and the dialog was stilted. I'd have rated it higher with more story and, in this case, less sex.
“We prowl, we stalk, we tease, and then we pounce.”
Quick shifter read, heavy on the government conspiracy, highly erotic and light dominant play. It was an okay read for me, I think it's hard when you are trying to understand their world in such a short time, it lost me along the way. Not sure if I would continue on with the series though.
A short and simple hot read. It went by fast and I felt like it was pointless to put in the rogues point of view if your at least not going to let the lead characters have a confrontation with them. There were many things that seemed to be missing and/or ignored. Yes there is an element of BDSM but it's very short.
It was ok but for an 80-90 page read it could have been extremely better.
I thought that this was alright, though I honestly think there is enough here to develop it into a whole book. There is years of history referenced between the H/h. That might just be my preference for novels over short stories coming to the fore.
Things I liked: ★Grayson being so enamoured with Sasha. I thought the way he followed her about without her knowing was really cute. Maybe a little creepy too, predominantly cute. I also just plain liked Grayson. ★The Doctor - I thought his jovial character was a lot of fun ★The dialogue - outside of the sex scenes it felt fairly natural ★The setup for the larger plot seems interesting, with the potential for some fun twists ★Sasha's sense of control - Even as she and Grayson played their dominance game she maintained a lot of power, even if she had to cache it in the guise of a request. Grayson almost always gave her what she asked for. Plus, I've always felt that there is a distinct difference between submission and humiliation. So many erotic authors muddle the two together. At no point in this book did anything feel abusive in any way.
Things I didn't like: ★I know that Doms & Subs are all the rage right now, but its inclusion felt like an unnatural attempt to please the masses here. I don't mean Grayson being dominant and Sasha being submissive. I was fine with that. But when Grayson started lecturing on the role of an actual Dom or Sub it went too far. He lives in a refugee camp/colony with enough cultural difference that they have to discuss the use of certain titles, so whats the likelihood they have the same sexual subcultures as the greater populace. It also simply wasn't necessary to the plot. ★The use of 'Sir.' Again, I don't really mind them including that in their dominance play. Fine, if that's what gets them off. But the excuse that Sasha wanted to submit because she was otherwise always in control felt like a fallacy. She's in the army, admittedly a major, but that means she isn't in control. She's submitting to orders all day everyday, so I'm not buying the let my control go spiel. Every time she called him Sir I was reminded of this fact. ★The anal sex. I don't mind it being included, but this particular scene felt pretty clinical. More importantly to my bullet is that it felt obligatory but was accorded an importance that it didn't seem to require or deserve. ★The fact that the H/h had been sniffing around each other for years left me wondering what made this encounter any different. There didn't seem to be any reason they would act differently on this particular day than any other.
All in all I thought the story was enjoyable enough and I'd be happy to finish out the series, especially if any more of them come up on the free list.
I am confused by this book but I will say I got it as an experiment and it was free on kindle. That said, there is a story here and I managed to finish it but it did feel like a set up or pre-lude and not entirely complete, or I am just greedy and want more.
As a noob to the genre I cant judge the weighting of the sex but I did feel the anal scene wasnt necessary because at that point in the story how is asking for lube important but perhaps its "normal" for the pacing.
My pain problem was with the Major herself, the ease with which she was able to throw off 14 years of service for some lovin' made me raise an eyebrow because as "obedient" as soldiers are that was her identity and I didnt get a previous sense that she had a problem with it so there should have been a "struggle" to accept that the rules and structure she believed in had such rotten foundations... but I guess her not struggling makes it more plausible for her to accept the changes that she discovers in herself.
All in all, you can get through the book but I feel the story needs some development.
Yes it's another of those "breed" type books that feature human and animal DNA mixing but don't be put off.Ms Ross writes in a style that's easy to follow and quite raunchy at times. It's my first book from the author and although a little shorter than I would like it is clearly the beginning of a series.the reader is told the origins of the shifters in the story and get the idea that bad government /scientist types are lurking in the background ready to cause trouble in following stories. Loved the uber sexy Grayson but didn't quite find the heroine Sasha believable but it's a short book so go with the flow! Not quite as complicated as lora Leigh's work and no where near as hot as Laurann dohners books but definitely worth a go and I look forward to reading more from this author. 4 stars from me
I got “Untamed Hunger” free on Nook. I would not have paid to read this book. I like my heroines to have more spice to them.
"Untamed Hunger" was lacking a plot and character development. The ease in which Sasha accepted everything told to her by Grayson and his grandpa did not seam plausible. The book was short mostly consisting of a little bit of bondage, a little spanking, and a ton of HOT sex! I would have liked more on the back story and what happens when Sasha and Grayson disappear.
It was an ok read. I won’t be reading it again or looking into the rest of the series, but the sex was very HOT and STEAMY.
This was a BDSM/paranormal romance. Is that even a genre? Not sure but it was a first for me. I wished there was more of a buildup between the H/H before the first chapter because there was a lot of sexual tension between the two so I felt like I missed something. The shifter colony was interesting as well as the shifter mythology. I just wished there wasn't a whole lesson in shifter culture while the heroine was tied to the bed (sexual acts for information?) A little weird for me and a mood killer. After that, the sex scenes were better and I was slowly drawn into the story. The characters were likable and although this series reminds me of the "New Species" with a touch of the "Breeds" series, I felt it had it's own twist to mutated humans and I enjoyed the story.
I have no problems when shifters are involved in a book. Actually, I enjoy them most of the time. So when i saw that grayson was a white tiger, i liked it and was intrigued because it was original. But then maybe the story was just too original for me to truly like ? I don't know... The world created was just kind of confusing ad you don't have much time to adapt.
And yes, there were lots of sex (maybe a little too much). At first it was hot and steamy scenes I was looking forward to read, but then it was just weird and ridiculous when they were in the lab. So yeah, not my best read ever but maybe the story in the next installment gets better? I'm not sure if I am curious enough to check it out.
A very short steamy read that has an interesting angle that has been developed in other series about shifters but this author made theirs unique by carrying it a step further than some. Loved the dynamics between Grayson and Sasha, their chemistry burned the pages but their humanity gave hope that as the series continues the "morphs" will find their way into a better life for future generations.
Fast quick read that is a small slice of a larger pie and under 100 pages it still packed in a lot of information and action.
FREE atm @ Amazon, SW & ARe (and maybe others as well)
Maybe 4 stars? IDK so straddling the fence. Read this years ago so remember the storyline and being a little "hmmm..." at the ending, but not exactly how much I enjoyed it overall.

Untamed Hunger is the first book in the Alpha Colony series by author Aubrey Ross. This book is the promise of a great series to come. Sasha Young is a major stationed at Alpha Colony to help monitor the colony of feline morphs. Sasha believes she’s been stationed on Alpha Colony to help, but little does she know the truth behind what is really happening. Grayson is the only white tiger morph in the colony. He has a real interest in Sasha, but so far, she has eluded him. After all, it is forbidden for humans and morphs to mate. Sasha feels safe with Grayson, and longs to give up control to him. She knows it’s wrong, but she can’t help wanting the sexy tiger to claim her as his own. When Grayson kidnaps her, Sasha quickly realizes things are not always as she was taught. She also learns cats love to play, to pounce, and to stalk. Grayson wants to do all that to Sasha, slowly thoroughly and completely. She needs information only Grayson has, but his cooperation will come at a price—her submission until dawn. Though Sasha desires a release to some of her rigidly held control, a lifetime of habit will not be pushed to the wayside so easily. There is a wealth of pleasure in submission, though, something Grayson steadily pushes her to discover. The emotional connection and heat between these two really jumps off the pages. They are both strong people who get caught up in a situation that ends up being bigger than the both of them. The ending of Untamed Hunger left me with more questions than answers, and I can’t wait to find out more. The felines are poised on the brink of war, but who will come out the victor is anyone’s guess. 5 SHOOTING STARS!
Untamed Hunger has a good premise however I feel like it didn’t quite satisfy me. I like the story, the background story to the characters but when it came to the erotic part of the book it just made me feel, meh. Not saying some of it wasn’t hot but when foreplay comes out of nowhere and kind of aggressively I didn’t really have a real connection with it, with them. The couple seemed right and I did like getting to know them a little bit before the “fun” began but I don’t think I was able to truly feel connected to them to feel satisfied.
Some of the erotic seemed cheesy and there was one point where the main gal spoke what she wanted him to do to her and then the author described it, showing us after telling and I lost any little connection I had with the book.
Now for the other part of the story, the main gal trying to figure out what happen between the tiger and leopard, was interesting. It pulled me in and I like how we got to see behind the eyes of the man that committed the crime. It was an interesting tale about government and their experiments, so if you love those then you’ll enjoy this one. But for me things just didn’t feel balanced and didn’t flow just right, so this was a meh read for me. Just happy it was short, I would have hated to stop in the middle, I’ve been doing that a lot.
I wish there was a way to give this book less than 1 star! Thank goodness it was short and free (from Amazon).
I thought it would be an entertaining read, and I'm not turned off by paranormal romance. But this book is so unrealistic and over half porn that I don't know why I bothered.
Saasha is a major at a facility for morphs; we immediately dive into the action when she is out on patrol and sees a fight between the feline morphs. Going into the woods alone to get answers from a white tiger morph (named Grayson). Instead she ends up giving him a hand-job out in the open (when relationships between morphs and humans / military personal are forbidden) and then following him back to his cabin completely submits to him in a weird sub-Dom relationship. They say the tension has been building for three years, but there is no development so meeting a female major who is very strong and self assured automatically trade her body and sexual favors for information was just ... Disgusting.
And then they basically "f*#% like rabbits" for the rest of the book with some minimal story / plot thrown in so its not total porn. While a quick read and caters to those who enjoy the sub-Dom genre, I just didn't enjoy this book at all.
This was my introduction into the world of shape-shifters.
This is a short novella that introduces us to Alpha Colony.
The government is messing around in someplace that they do not need to be - genetics. This is the story of Grayson (feline morph) and Sasha (human). A story on the love that develops between them and because of taboos is not allowed to culminate. However, a secondary story develops that addresses the point of is it ethical for governments to get involved with creating species and, if they do, how much responsibility should it take to ensure the survival of the new species. When they get tired of their creation, do they just throw it out with the bathwater? What about experiments that go bad?
This is a love story with light BDSM undertones. The sex is plentiful and at times very hot.
I wanted to give this a fifth star; however, the ending of the book came to abruptly and right in the middle of what should have been the most powerful sex scene in the book. The utter submission of Sasha to Grayson.
I'm not normally a big fan of BDSM but sometimes books make it work. This book came close but fell short. If a little more time had been spent on the importance of BDSM in their lifestyle/relationship and less saying the same things over and over it could've really worked.
The author created an interesting world (one I'd like to learn more about). The split between the other two characters didn't work for me. Especially since the story wasn't finished. I'm sure all four characters will pop up in some of the other books but since the next book is introducing new characters it just drove home the point that you were left hanging in this book. The book had promise but ended up being disappointing. Maybe less sex and more development of their relationship... near the end it felt that the only reason they were together was the driving force of their DNA.
If you like shifters, military plots, sex and light DBSM this book is for you.
Untamed Hunger by Aubrey Ross is a fast, fun read with plenty of action and a well-constructed combination of paranormal (shape-shifters) and scifi (not on Earth). It begins with instant action, a cat-shifter fight scene leading to a steamy and forbidden moment between the main characters that kept me glued to my kindle until the end.
The female lead, Major Sasha Young, has a strength and confidence I like to see in a heroine, yielding to submission only during sex play with the hero, Grayson. A rare white-tiger shifter, Grayson has plenty going for him: alpha male, gorgeous in both forms, unwavering lust/love for Sasha, and a fine sense of honor/conviction. The two have history not detailed in the story, but allusions of past interactions make their explosive coming together even more potent.
Magnetic characters, well-constructed storyline, lots of action, and smokin' hot sex - if you haven't read this yet, I highly recommend you get a copy!
Guys. GUYS. Guys. This is one of those books that I was predestined to enjoy. It's futuristic. It has an unscrupulous and morally bankrupt government/military who did bad, bad things and then proceeded to cover them up. It has shifters. It has hot sex in a variety of positions.
*swoon*
The world is intriguing. The dominance games are sexy. The set-up for the future is... very much there. Plus, the random bad guy... he's kind of an asshat. And he and his lady friend look like they're going to cause problems down the line. Potentially BIG problems. This should get very interesting.
Novella-length start to a futuristic-y, shifter romance series from a publisher that churns out these types of series like butter. Having said that, this one was well written and I enjoyed the attention to detail the author spent on the human and wereshifter inhabitants of Alpha Colony. Ross does a good job detailing the challenges faced by the human military major Sasha, whose job it is to keep peace between the humans and the shifters, and tiger-were Grayson, who gets Sasha to understand the true relationship between the two different species. I had a hard time getting a feel for Alpha Colony itself, and wished that more detail was spent on world-building. Still, an enjoyable read and recommended for the genre.
I'm all for some hot shake ya body down to the ground, beast with two backs, take me like an animal erotica, but this story was just okay. Don't get me wrong it was steamy enough with more than a few "i need a ciggie" moments. Character development was limp and the plot was intriguing but a bit less developed than i like. Maybe i'm not into the whole male dom / fem subm thing, because her asking him if she may reach...errr ummm, "fulfillment", irked me. My immediate thought was "dude go pee up a rope". Guess i don't do submissive very well??
Think i like my heroines with a bit more piss and vinegar. Sasha was so accepting of every thing that was done or told to her, and so willing to just acquiesce that she turned me off. Which is funny considering....
A quick read. Interesting enough to keep the pages turning. A bit predictable. I mean I pretty much had it pegged from the first talk of Major Young and Grayson, they'd end up together. It's over too fast. Where the story line is interestingly conspiratorial. It peaks right in the beginning then tapers off. Of course a sneak peak to the next excerpt left me curious enough to want to continue. Where the next book is obviously about Dyauna. I can't help but hope to find out what happens with the plot with Major Young and Grayson. It left me questioning. Do they get caught. Did they get their public's reaction to Morph colonies and the continuing experiments making Hybrids out of soldiers!? I'm left to assume. I don't like to assume. I guess I'll find out in the next book. :)
This novella is about Sasha Young, a Major who has been stationed at Alpha Colony to maintain peaceful interactions between the shifters that live there. Over the years, she has been fighting an illegal attraction with the only white tiger on the Colony named Grayson. Their attraction comes to a head when she and Grayson both step in to assist a female leopard in jeopardy.
Grayson has many secrets, but he doesn't know how much he can trust Sasha-she is a human, after all, despite the fact that she has always been kind and fair to the shifters. Their love is forbidden by laws, but Grayson has bid his time long enough-it's tie for action.
This was a nice, kinky, read. I really like the world the author created here and I plan on reading more in this series!
Shifters!! yay and stuffs. I dont know why makes me tingle. On top of the BDSM element. What more can a girl ask for? I loved the characters, Sasha and Grayson they just worked well together, ok maybe not at first (smiles). But Sasha is rigid because of what she was brought up to believe, but she also shows flexibility in accepting what maynot be the truth as she was taught. Grayson is passionate in both the love He has for her and trying to right the wrong thats done to his people. When theyre together, you can almost feel the sparks fly. The need to Dominate, the need to submit. I really enjoyed this book Props to Ms Ross!! Enjoy!
I liked this story. It's the begining. The story could of been longer and detailed with more on character depth. But was good and wanted book two right away. Sasha has worked in the colonies for over 10 years. She is human and there to monitor and keep the shifters safe and balanced. She has always had an attraction to Grayson who is the only white tiger. When a fight breaks out, she goes looking for Grayson on hopes he will explain. But Grayson won't talk unless she submits to him and his needs, since he has wanted her for years. She agrees, but with some limits. That was until he sets something off and put them in mating heat. Sasha has to except she is not fully human.
This book surprised me at how well written it was. I had picked it up for free, so had no real expectations, nor did I remember the plot by the time it reached the top of my TBR list. Great characterization and story lines, although I thought the D/s aspect was gratuitous, the story could have stood on its own with out making the females (especially a female soldier) submissive. But, in spite of the D/s, the book was written so well, I will look for the next book in the series as a possible read for the future.
Nice erotic shape shifter read with the start of a interesting science fiction world being built around the government playing around with animal DNA. Unlike, the Species series or the Breed series, we don't seem to have years of experimentation but rather a colony and soliders who don't even know they have been tampered with. We also have full shifters here instead of just animal traits.
Cool white tiger dom alpha featured in this book. I look forward to the world developing through out the sereis.
I was thporoughly impressed with this story the uniqueness drove me on. The characters were being driven by a separatist attitude. The funny thing is that what happens when there is no line drawing the fields? well I am hopeful the latest stories will tell what will happen.
I liked the fact that Grayson was patient and not an ass. I hate these types of alpha males that are impatient and arrogant about the women especially in shifter books. I liked the flow of the story and the way the 2 main characters developed their relationship.
