About the author

Todd Parr is a three-time New York Times-bestselling author and illustrator of more than fifty books for children. He has inspired and empowered children around the world with simple, hopeful, and powerful messages such as “be kind”, “love yourself” and “be who you are,” all set with vibrant images in eye-catching primary colors. His books have received numerous awards and are available in nearly twenty languages. He also is the co-creator of the popular three-time Daytime Emmy©-nominated animated TV series, "ToddWorld" with Gerry Renert of SupperTime Entertainment. Several short films for Sesame Street have also been based on Parr’s work.

Todd parr is a master of color and using bright happy colors. This is a wonderful positive book about parents loving children and the things they do. It’s a feel good hug.

It’s for the youngest of readers and anyone who loves Todd Parr. I love to read Todd Parr. I feel like it’s a great self-help book for kids and adults. I always feel good reading Todd Parr.

I didn’t read this to my nephew. He’s moved on to other things and I know he’s too old for these, but I want to read these. I’m on a kick so there are going to be Todd Parr books here and there.

Wow, this book doles out the love like you wouldn't believe! It's a cover to cover love-fest!

The idea is that everyone is loved all the time, whether you're sick, silly, sad, scared or brave, gone away or cuddled up close, asleep or awake, even when you hide your parents' keys!

The book is VERY colorful. The cartoonish pictures are uber simple. My niece Emma noticed that most of the people had on different colored shoes, which she declared was quite silly. I concurred.

At 4 years old, Emma was on the verge of being too old for this, but we both loved The I LOVE YOU Book. Our absolute favorite part was the "I love you when you are stinky" page with the baby with the wavy stink lines coming from her bottom.

We read this and made tiny pudding pies. It was a pretty good day!

The I Love You Book by Todd Parr is another vividly colored book about unconditional love. It illustrated how children are loved no matter what the everyday situation brings. Although this is not specifically a Valentine’s Day book, this is a wonderful celebration of love.

دوست داشتم که به بچه یاد می‌ده حتی وقتی می‌ترسه، ناراحته، شیطنت می‌کنه یا حتی اشتباه می‌کنه، باز هم دوست‌داشتنیه. تصویرهای رنگی و متن‌های کوتاهش هم دقیقاً مناسب بچه‌های کوچیکه.

فقط حس کردم مثل بعضی کتاب‌های دیگه‌ی تاد پار، حرف خیلی تازه‌ای نداره و بیشتر روی همون پیام همیشگیِ «دوستت دارم، همون‌طور که هستی» می‌چرخه. ولی برای یه کتاب قبل خواب یا هدیه به بچه‌ها واقعاً انتخاب قشنگیه.

A definite quick read and one that explores what it means to unconditionally love a child. Unfortunately the only thing that truly stood out to me was the message of the book and the very last page that mentioned all children should be loved even though unfortunately there are always a few that never seem to find that beautiful need fulfilled. And as a result of the latter the book isn't going to be able to cover all the children of the world..

Otherwise the book has no rhyming to it and is just basically a bunch of opposites so if you are wanting to teach your young ones about opposites then I would recommend it. Even the concept of love is not truly explained well enough but given sort of as an "if I love you then I deal with you when you are....

The illustrations are definitely nothing memorable even with the bright colors. Basic and just a step over from stick figures it makes me wonder if the illustrator is maybe a young child or if that was the concept they wanted to presented to the reader thus keeping the book for only the youngest of crowds.

An alright book I wouldn't truly recommend it when there are other beautiful stories of love out there but then again there may be some who would rather prefer this type of book instead.

a review of the BOARDBOOK

THE I LOVE YOU BOOK has been very popular with adults and the little kids they share it with. It was first published waaaay back in 2009, and now, FINALLY, it's been done as a boardbook.

Since there are tons of reviews that will tell you about the theme, let me focus on what the boardbook is like.

It's the standard boardbook size. The front has a heart, and the inside of the heart is soft and squishy to the touch.

The inside artwork it totally Todd Parr. All done in extremely bright cheerful colors. The pages are slick, and importantly, they are thick and sturdy. (I don't know about you, but my boy was rough on boardbooks. I would think this would would hold up fine.)

The only downside I found was that there are two pages with dark purple backgrounds and this makes it a little difficult for my eyes to make out the text.

Altogether an adorable boardbook version of Todd Parr's I LOVE YOU BOOK. I just love the theme of unconditional love. Because that's how we are. We love our darlings whether they have stinkie poopie pants, or are struggling with their algebra.

This book demonstrates the different kinds of situations in which parents or anyone else that cares for children can love them no matter what. I feel like it is a great book to teach children that their parents/caregivers will love them always, and also a great book to teach parents or caregivers to remind children of this fact. It is so important to tell children this, especially when they act up, because sometimes when they are punished they tend to get the idea that they are not loved or their parents hate them. I know for sure that I had that idea in my head at least once when I was a child.

One aspect that caught my eye were the pictures, both positively and negatively. The pictures were very colorful, which I enjoyed because they stood out and definitely would do a good job with catching the attention of children since color fascinates them. However, I didn't like how simple the pictures were. I felt like they could have had more detail to them to be more interesting. The sentences also seemed to be too repetitive for me. I was bored of reading the same structures about half way through the book. I wish they would have been more varied. Overall though, it was a cute book. I would definitely read this to my future children someday, but not my elementary students because of the fact that it didn't seem to have much literary value as it did emotional value.

I have truly enjoyed each and every one of Todd Parr's books, and THE I LOVE YOU BOOK is one of the best.

Perfect for bedtime, the story shares a parent's love for a child, no matter the situation. When they're tired and cranky, when they're messy or stinky, when they're sleeping or shopping, when they're walking or making new friends, mom and dad will always be there, loving them the entire time.

As always, the illustrations are what make the story so great. Bold, bright, and multicolored, they compliment the easy-to-read story perfectly.

This is another winning picture book by Todd Parr to add to your home library. There's no doubt young children will ask for it before bed again and again.

The first thing that I notice from this book are the vibrant colors and they just make me want to smile or even draw a picture. Each page of this book is filled with one more reason from parent to child (or whomever the reader is to child) that "I love you" when and why. It is a fabulous book and has an absolutely wonderful message that is so important.

This book was my first Todd Parr experience, but will definitely not be my last. I cannot wait for more books and to go back and find some of his already published works out there. Definitely a keeper for my child's shelf. I cannot wait to be able to share this book with my baby again (outside of the womb). *grin*

Some people don’t like Todd Parr’s books. I maintain that those people didn’t cry at the first five minutes of the movie Up and don’t think puppies are cute and basically have no soul. So yeah. It’s a Todd Parr book and it’s about love and you should read it because Mister Rogers would probably want you to.
