This is a short story introducing Cloudburst, Colorado, a new series from Siobhan Muir.
Siobhan Muir lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming, with her husband, two daughters, a kitten who thinks he's a dog, a cat who's not impressed, and the dog who just wants to be walked. When not writing, she makes miniatures, bakes, knits, and sews. An avid reader of science fiction/fantasy, her husband gave her a paranormal romance for Christmas one year, and she was hooked for good.
In previous lives, Siobhan has been an actor at the Colorado Renaissance Festival, a field geologist in the Aleutian Islands, and restored inter-planetary imagery at the USGS. She’s hiked to the top of Mount St. Helens and to the bottom of Meteor Crater.
Siobhan writes kick-ass adventure with hot sex for men and women to enjoy. She believes in happily ever after, redemption, and communication, all of which you will find in her paranormal and dauntless romance stories.
I picked up this book because it had the word Colorado in the series name. While I thought this book was good for being a short one, I am saddened that I could not have rated it higher. This actually could have been a better book if it has not been for the fact that two-thirds of the story was just about Alex and Sarah having sex. As far as I was concerned I did not really know anything about Alex's abilities as a hell hound other than the fact that he is good in bed. In fact, Alex and Sarah were smoking hot together. The last third of the story did feature a demon that Alex and Sarah had a battle with but it was short. Even though I was not a fan of this book, I did like what I read and will try another book by this author.
I haven't read this author before, but...I loved it.

I haven't read anything by this author before, got this freebie in my search for someone different to read, and really enjoyed this short story.
Alex is a werewolf, with added Hellhound, whose mate went off to die alone eight years ago and he still mourns her. On the anniversary of her leaving, Alex is asked to help and protect Sarah, also a werewolf, and her son Liam, who have been on the run from a demon since they killed her mate and left her for dead six years ago. They are True Mates and this is a lovely story of loss and the hope for a future.
Although I really enjoyed this story and will look for more by this author, I do have a couple of gripes. The first one being that Sarah and her mate had apparently just discovered she was pregnant when the demons attacked, meaning that Liam is only 5 years old, and he's left alone in a strange house to take a bath?
The second is that several times, although I hesitate to actually call it a word, but for lack of a better description, the word 'init?' is used at the end of a sentence. Being English, not Irish as Sarah is so I can't say for certain, but having grown up and lived most of my life in an area as close to Ireland as you can get in England and which is heavily populated by Irish people, I've never heard anyone Irish use 'init?' instead of isn't it?. I have only ever heard this 'word' used on TV by gutter level, low-life wanna-be thugs in really bad gang programmes and films.
I would have given this short story 5 stars but have deducted 1 star for the gripes.
A Hell Hound's Fire is the introduction to a new series by Siobhan Muir. Sometimes an author struggles with world building in a short novella. This is most definitely NOT the case with Ms. Muir. Her worldbuilding is spot on. She conveys a very real sense of time, place, and the rules of magic inherent in this world. Her characters are compelling and the story intriguing and very sexy. Alex McLaren is a Moon Singer - a wolf shifter. But he's more. He's almost one of a kind, a hell hound. From the blurb:
Love can be found in the most unlikely places, even the heart of a Hell Hound.

A quick, fun read and well worth any price, though it is currently free on Smashwords and should be free in other outlets soon. I look forward to Ms. Muir's next entry in this series.
The writing was good, not insanely captivating, but rather pleasant. I really liked the plot, and it did have a good amount of action to it. I struggle a bit with the characters, but for a short novella it was decent.
This is the introduction to a new series by Siobhan Muir.
It was a fast, fun read, introducing the reader to Muir's writing style which I found to be polished. The story premise was good--what drew me in. The world building was well done. The characters were interesting. The erotica was on the scorching end of the heat scale and took up a fair amount of the novella. It is Erotica, after all, but there's a spicy love story there too.

Although I am not a big fan of the short story, this story was able to pull me in straight away to the town of Cloudburst in Colorado. There was a little bit of background so you didn't feel completely adrift but not enough to take up too much space. The storyline was well planned and the action (both between the sheets and out) was paced very nicely. You don't know why the demons attacked Sarah's village in the first place but this doesn't cause too much of a worry.
I finished this story in about an hour but have immediately come on line to see if the author has written any more about Cloudburst as I want to know more. This means a job well done in my book! And to my delight, there is one more book which has immediately gone on my wishlist.
Take a chance with this book, even if you don't like short stories. I did and I'm happy I did.
What a great read! Right from the first page I was hooked and so was the hero. This is a quick read that reads fast because I kept turning the pages for more and more. The passion between the hero and heroine was hot and intense and the danger was real too. The story has many great lines. Here's a fav thought from the hero: There's a demon after her, moron. Focus on making her safe, not satisfied. <-- oh the sexual tension. Yum! I definitely recommend A Hell Hound's Fire.
Piqued by the teasers on Siobhan Muir's blog I just had to pick up a copy of Hell Hound's Fire as soon as it was out. Tough short, the story doesn't feel incomplete in any way. Well written, I was drawn into the sizzling romance between Alex and Sarah and the paranormal adventure they were thrust into. Furthermore, the information the author delivered about their world of magic and beliefs has left me curious and eager for future installments of this series.
What a fabulous read! The chemistry between Alex (the Hell Hound) and Sarah (the werewolf) is sizzling, with a touch of humor. The story has the perfect amount of world-building--not too much so it's bogged down, just enough to bring the reader along and leave her wanting more. I'd give it six stars if I could. I highly, highly recommend for an afternoon read and I can't wait to dig into the next book by Siobhan Muir.
As an introduction to the new series of Cloudburst, Colorado this was a very good story. The Characters were well rounded and there was a lot of information packed into it for something so short. However I did find it a little too short, even though the world building was first rate and the sex scenes were hot. So, as it was offered as a way of introducing new readers to her writing, I say that the author achieved that and I will be looking for more Cloudburst stories in the future.
A Hell Hound's Fire is a wonderful introduction to Siobhan Muir's series. The plot takes off during the first few pages and I was transported to the world of Moon Singers and Hell Hounds, not to mention a dangerous demon. Alex and Sarah's characters are well developed as is Sarah's son, Liam. The chemistry sizzled between the H/h with well written sexy scenes. I recommend A Hell Hound's Fire.
Free books are definitely the hook that draws you to find a new and exciting author. This book was amazing; resulting in an on-line search to see what else has been published by this author. I like to be captured immediately by a story-line or tend to leave the book alone. With a jump-in-the-deep-end start this book was a surprisingly outstanding source of escapism. Wonderful!
Interesting story with good world building. I did like the interplay between the hero and the heroine, and the boy was charming. I just wanted more. More of the fight between the demon and the shifters, more development of the hero and the heroine. More time for them to get to know each other a little. Still, this was a great story and I'll definitely be looking for more from Ms. Muir.
Excellent story great characters and really hot sex! Siobhan Muir writes this easy to read para-normal romance and it is very romantic. Love the way she makes the characters seems so real, you just feel you know them!
Siobhan Muir writes this easy to read para-normal romance and it is very hot and very romantic. What a fabulous read! The chemistry between Alex (the Hell Hound) and Sarah (the werewolf) is hot. It was quick read but well worth it. Loved the characters, the drama and the passion. I just love it!!!
Loved this werewolf romance. It was quick read but well worth it. Loved the characters, the drama and the passion. Cannot wait to read more from Siobhan Muir in the future. Great job loved it!
Nice, quick story that did what it was supposed to do. This book gets you interested in the background Siobhan Muir is trying to introduce you for future books. I will be looking for more.
While I was a little put off by Alex's obsession with Sarah because her life and that of her son are in jeopardy by a literal demon, it made a little sense because it was his inner wolf identifying her as his true mate. And then I was really impressed that he was able to convince his inner wolf to put the obsession aside *because* her life was in danger. That doesn't happen very often in novels where the main male character obsession over someone, and it annoys the heck out of me!
I found this to be a very nice introduction to this series and I'm interested to see where it goes.
I downloaded A Hell Hound's Fire, the first book in the Cloudburst, CO series, as a free novella from Amazon. This short story was the insta-love type you expect from a novella, but I liked the characters and plot. I'd be interested in the series if they were full-size novels as quick reads are not my favorite.
On the run from something really terrible Sarah meets Alex. He's been in a lot of pain from losing his mate years ago when he meets this woman. And boy do sparks fly! Loved this story. Can't wait to read more!
This was a cute short story but it definitely felt rushed. I get that with 70 some pages, you kinda have to wrap things up quick but everything felt rushed. I did think that the two main characters were quite cute together
A Hell Hound's Fire (Cloudburst, Colorado #1) by Siobhan Muir – A mother and son on the run find an unexpected champion! A very cool world and magic system with a fated mates trope! Happy Reading!
