Cons: His writing style is very canned/packaged--what with all his patented terminology that he repeated every page, I felt like I was listening to one of those motivational speakers telling me How to Improve Your Life in Eight Easy Steps! Seriously, the number of times he repeated some variation of "It's your life and you can make the most of it" was ridiculous. Take it down a notch. Some of his examples for how to respond to interview questions were similarly fake sounding, I kept laughing at the thought of actually saying any of that in an interview. (Then again, I'm unemployed, so what do I know.)

Pros:

Overall, useful and practical advice for any confused post-grads. He breaks down the job search and tips about resumes, interviewing, follow-up, etc very nicely. I especially found the chapters on the dreaded networking very useful because he gives practical tips that I've never heard before. The final chapters about how to make the most of your first job and how to plan the future were useful as well, if a little limited in scope. A quick read that gave me a lot of useful tips.

Succinct, useful and critically important for anyone in the work world to read--not just first-time job seekers. Love the concept of Me Inc., and the chapter on interview questions is also a great way to do a self-analysis of your career path to date and identify what you bring to the table. One in a long line of great books from Martin Yate!
