Do you know the feeling of wanting to take someone by their collar or whatever and make them realize their own feelings and how dense they are? ARGHHH!
I’ve probably mentioned before that I don’t read this series for the art. The backgrounds are loaded with clip art and empty spaces. The line quality is professional, but uninspired. Even the faces are lacking compared to many mangaka whose art I find inspiring. However, I don’t read this story for any of those attributes. I read it for the characters. I read it for the humor. I read it for the story. Even if all the other chapters in this volume were subpar, and they aren’t, I’d give this book a high rating because of Story 27, Little Sister.
I wish I could tell stories with such emotion and impact. Mao’s broken family began to mend, and even her emotionally constipated father stepped up. Here was a top notch example of sequential art—a sophisticated portrayal of family life through drawings that often isn’t matched in power or emotion in American comics. The characters felt real despite their airy line quality. I found myself caring deeply for Mao’s struggle and cheering for her when she succeeded—all because Taamo made me believe her simple line drawings were real. I highly recommend this volume based on this chapter alone.
At first, I find the illustrations really weird and I thought I'm not going to like this story. But here I am, writing this review. So it must be really good ha.
Well, it is! I love that it wasn't just your cheesy romance story but it also has some depth into it. I love that it was also about family and you know me, I love family stories. So yep, I shed a tear or two while reading this whole series and laugh as well.
I'm not sure how to end this review with a bang you I can be able to convince you to try this out, but it was really good. Promise!
To each their own, but her envisioning men she interacts with, or at least mentally shipping them, in torrid affairs fan fic style to the extent that she does feels SUPER weird as far as storyline goes. Like out of leftfield weird that leaves you thinking, "Uhhhhhhhhhh...what?! Why?!"
I didn’t like Daiki at first but he is growing on me a bit. Sugimoto is too immature and flaky considering her age, not a fan of her. And what is with Mao’s dad? He seriously makes me want to scream and punch him 😅
His co worker is right in the extra. Daiki is really not giving up but o know he isn't end game even though he should be. Lots of cute things happened, I loved it.
As if I didn't already dislike that Radical isn't going to end up with Hiro it's painfully obvious that it won't work and she has barely done anything to make it work. I also want Daiki and Mao to end up together but once again I think I will be dissapointed.
