Uncovered *****

Harris and Claire. This is a pretty short story, not sure how short as I listened to the audio, which was about 2 hours. Not a great audio though... but the story was a lot of fun! Claire and Harris are running buddies who sometimes watch a movie and hang out. Claire is a tom boy and doesn't advertise her sexual side, so Harris kinda just takes her for granted. He is a determined bachelor, but most of his friends are already happily married. Claire works for his PI buddies and lives next door to him. Harris is a firefighter. One day, while putting out a fire on the other side of Claire's building, he finds some nude photos in the dumpster behind the building. Along with the photos is a letter to the person who took the photos, about how she (the mystery woman) is in love with Harris. Unfortunately for Harris, he can't see the woman's face and has no clue who she could be and the letter isn't signed. Harris is immediately intrigued and determined to find out who she is. You've probably already guessed it and can smack palm to forehead right about now... What follows is written from both Claire's and Harris's POVs and had me chuckling out loud. The final reveal was cleverly done and very satisfying!

Tailspin **

It felt very dated.
If i pretend it takes place in the 70's I might be able to buy how sheltered Sadie is.
But it was entertaining and Buck was sweet. He doesn't have much depth, but it's a cute short read.
Sadie is a shltered girl who moves next door to Buck. He is a hot tamale who's been trying to get to get to know her bust her shyness always makes her retreat.
But that doesn't stop him from bring back dates and she sees them next door on his deck. He's a very handsy guy and I didn't appreciate her seeing him caress women by his barbq. It makes me question the validity of his interest in Sadie.
But anyways, circumstances intervene and he ends up at her place in his underwear. With the help of two cute little dogs, they get to know eachother at last.
It was OK. Kinda boring really. I liked the dogs best. ; )

An Honorable Man *

Only 78 pages but it felt interminable.
I hated Liv. She starts out like a self centered, grudge holding shrew and didn't change till the very end. I couldn't believe in their HEA.

Hamilton is in the airforce and so was Liv's dear old dad. They were childhood friends even though he is 9 years older. For years they have been dancing around deeper feelings for each other but Liv tars all in the military with the same grievances she has against her father, who never loved her much.
He is now 37 and ready to move out of active service to a teaching position, but won't tell her until she confesses her love for him. So he's kinda an idiot too. Foolish in his pride.

Idiots, the both of them.

I actually wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this one, yet it ended up being my favourite one out of the three!! Hamilton and Liv's friendship and situation was so realistic, and although I couldn't relate to it, it was still highly enjoyable!

2.5 - The last story in this anthology is what saved it. The first two had some heroes who had some pretty sleazy personality traits underneath all that decency. The third one I just questioned his methods.

Uncovered - 2 /5 - Harris is a firefighter and most nights runs with his platonic running buddy, Clare. They've been doing this for two years now and he considers her a great friend, but never once looked at her beyond that...because he wants to keep his carefree bachelor lifestyle and all that. He's been celibate for a month now though, so obviously it's time he starts looking at a woman again. When he finds naked pictures of an incredible woman combined with notes written to him about how sensitive and wonderful he is, he makes it his mission to find this mystery admirer and claim her I guess. What he doesn't know is that the woman in the pictures is Clare, who has been in love with him for years. But now she's in a pickle because she's jealous of herself, wanting Harris to be intrigued by her, so she steps up her flirting game to get him interested at last.

Yeah, this had potential but ultimately didn't work for me. First of all I had issues with the fact that Harris wasn't the least bit interested in anything sexual or romantic with Clare until she flashed him her sports bra and he started thinking of her naked. What that tells me is that her personality is great and makes a great friend, but her body is what causes him to see her as sexual - only reinforced by his reaction to the pictures. And that whole situation just felt sleazy. He's lusting after this mystery woman in these pictures and also hitting on Clare at the same time - we know it's the same woman, but he doesn't. Felt too much like cheating for my tastes.

Tailspin - 2 /5 - Buck is the last man standing among his friends and still enjoying his single life. He’s dog-sitting his friend Riley’s Chihuahua and while letting the dog out, he spots his unsocial, spinterish neighbor lady out in the yard in her nightgown...and he starts pondering her “social” life and gets himself the idea that since he has two-weeks of vacation he might soften her up a bit. As he does so, he realizes that neighbor-lady, Sadie, is actually a sweet, innocent woman and that he’s ready to settle down with her.

As I get older and read more, my tastes get more discriminating and certain behaviors irritate me. That was the case here...I don’t think it always bothered me, but the guy who sees his spinster neighbor and looks down on her thinking if she’d dress differently she’d have a better social life, bothers me. He feels sorry for her because she doesn’t go out with guys. And of course, even though he’s seen her and interacted with her a hundred times, it isn’t until he sees her nearly naked and realizes that she’s probably a virgin, that he starts to take a sexual interest in her. Not a moment before did he think she was worth his time, but the second he has thoughts about getting her into bed, she’s worth dedicating his entire vacation time to it. And he certainly doesn’t approach her thinking he’s in it for the long-term. So when we switch to Sadie’s POV and we’re seeing his actions through her eyes, his actions felt manipulative, because we can’t see that he’s falling in love with her until we get back to his POV. And even then he gets manipulative by thinking he’d bind Sadie to him with sex, since it would be her first time and she’s bound to get more emotional because of that. Nothing about Buck made me want to like him. And I found it really hard to believe that Sadie would just jump into bed with him the way she did, especially since she knew how often he entertained women. But she didn’t have one single insecurity about being, what she probably thought, was a one-time fling for him.
Now Buck ended up being a pretty decent guy in the end, but if this book hadn’t been so short, I probably would have DNF’d this one because of his attitude in the beginning. Even the dogs, as adorable as they were, wouldn’t have prevented that.

An Honorable Man - 3 /5 - Liv grew up in the military and decided she wanted nothing further to do with being separated from loved ones and constantly worrying about them. So she moves away. When her father dies, her dearest friend and the man she loves, who is also military, returns to tell her. But he’s also returned to finally claim the woman he loves, no matter how hard she fights it. He’s ready to spend his life with Liv and he’s ready to convince her that he, a military man, can actually make her happy.

I really like this kind of set up because the angst is pretty much top notch. And in this case, there is plenty of it. Liv and Ham definitely have that whole push/pull thing going and it really keeps you intrigued with what’s going to happen with these characters. But some of my respect for the hero dwindled about the time he was talking about how he’d slept around plenty to get rid of his sexual edginess despite full-on knowing how much he loved the heroine. In his words, she was “the love of his life,” and “He’d given his body to other women, but never his heart.” I get it, and I don’t think he’s an asshole for this, mostly because he and Liv weren’t exactly a couple, but I kinda think that if he loved her that much and he knew he still had a shot (as evidenced by his decision to go after her during his 2 week leave) then he damn well should have kept it in his pants for her. He sure wasn’t thrilled at the idea that she’d already found a guy - so he probably wouldn’t have wanted her having sex, which is definitely a double standard. But then, he was deliberately staying away because he knew she didn’t want a military guy and he wasn’t giving up the military for her. And despite loving her that much, he decides to go for it with her because they were “both of an age to settle down” and she hadn’t yet been in a serious relationship, so he had to believe she loved him too. So IMHO, he should have stayed away unless he could give her what she wanted. Instead, I see him as selfish because he wanted her on his terms, which is why he didn’t lead with the fact that - no, he wanted her to accept him in a “military” position first (and he hadn’t been willing to be celibate for her in the meantime). That just felt selfish. Just how I saw it. You may see it differently. The angst here though, definitely delivers. Which is definitely a positive.

UNCOVERED (Men of Courage Book 3)

Firefighter Harris Black is startled to stumble across nude photos of a woman…and handwritten notes about him. Who is this mystery woman? Harris hires a P.I. to trace her, never suspecting he's already found her….

Firefighter Harris is good friends with his neighbor across the street. Claire and he run together almost every day and frequently hang out together. He likes being with her because she likes the same things he does, but also listens to him when he's had a bad day, and never puts any kind of pressure on him. Things change after the building next to hers catches fire and he finds a shoebox of pictures of a naked woman - and notes about him. He hires Claire's bosses to find out who the woman is.

Clair panics when she sees those photos. Apparently her last boyfriend, the one she broke up with because she's in love with Harris, took pictures of her when she didn't know it. She's afraid Harris will get the wrong idea about her if he finds out, and she doesn't want to lose him as a friend. He's never been interested in her so she figures friendship is all she can hope for.

I loved seeing the way she started changing around him once he had those pictures. She really gave him a hard time about his search. I loved her lesson to him on the difference between lust and "antsy" and the effect it had on him. Suddenly he was seeing her in a whole new way and it was freaking him out a little. Especially when he started comparing his feelings to the way his friend Ethan feels about his wife. The final scene in the PI's office was fantastic - classic fun and romantic Lori Foster.

TAILSPIN (Men of Courage Book 4)

Lumberyard owner Buck Boswell prides himself on his way with women—but his prickly neighbor, Sadie Harte, seems immune to his charms. Is she really as aloof as she acts, or can Buck convince her to take a chance on the guy next door?

This was a really fun story. Buck is intrigued by his neighbor but she won't give him the time of day - until one morning when he rescues her and her dog from a killer cicada. Once the ice has been broken, Buck discovers that Sadie is actually very shy. If he can get her to give him a chance, maybe there's a future for them

I loved Buck. He is definitely a ladies man, but he's nice about it. He has been intrigued by Sadie since she moved in but she'll barely speak to him. One morning he finds her running around his backyard in her nightgown screeching like crazy. I loved seeing him deal with the dog, the cicada that the dog has in its mouth, and his own dislike of the same bugs. I enjoyed the comedy of errors that has him in her apartment wearing nothing but a towel (because the dog has his boxers). When Buck discovers that Sadie is taking care of a dog that's been abused his own heart falls a little more for Sadie right then. He also realizes that her aloofness has been a symptom of her shyness and this gives him a chance to get to know her. I loved seeing his patience as he tries not to rush her, and his kindness as he realizes how fragile her self esteem is. I loved the way that he helped Sadie with the dog. I really enjoyed seeing how quickly he and Sadie connected. It was fun seeing Buck go from just wanting to sleep with her to wanting her in his life permanently. Having Harris and Ethan drop in and play mind games with him was fun too.

Sadie was a sweetheart. She had spent a good share of her life caring for her mother who had cancer. This left he without the usual opportunities to date and have relationships with men. On top of that she'd had a really bad experience in high school, leaving her feeling unattractive and that men wouldn't be interested in her. She has been interested in Buck from the beginning but doesn't have the experience to know what to do about it. I loved seeing her thought processes once Buck is in her apartment. For someone so shy, she didn't have much trouble opening up to Buck once she got past her initial wariness. She really got into him quickly. She was really unsure about how he felt about her, but she knew what she felt. I loved what she did at the end.

I loved the two dogs. Buck was dogsitting his friend's dog and it was Butch that alerted Buck to Sadie's presence in the yard. It was so much fun to see Butch get all sweet on Sadie's dog Tish. I loved seeing how gentle Buck was with her. For such a big guy he was a real marshmallow when it came to the pooches.

AN HONORABLE MAN

Lieutenant Colonel Hamilton Wulf's career ambitions cost him the one woman he ever wanted—Liv Avery. Now he's determined to win back her love…even if it means risking his life.

Very good story. Liv has been in love with Hamilton for most of her life, but doesn't want to get involved with a military man. Her father was also military and had put his service above everything, including her. He had not been a good father and it has colored her view of military life. Ham has also loved Liv but can't get her to admit her love for him or consider joining him. When her father passes away, Ham is the one to tell her and to help her with the arrangements. He also takes the opportunity to try to show her what they could have together. He has made some career moves that would help deal with her issues while still allowing him to continue in the career he loves. I really liked his patience with her fears and how much he's willing to compromise.

Liv has not had a good experience as part of a military family. After her mother's death, her father became even more rigid and unavailable. His career always came first and he treated her more as one of his soldiers than as a daughter. When Liv became an adult she swore she wouldn't get involved with a military man. She wanted roots, a home and friends and a job that were consistent. She loves Ham but she can't get past her issues with military life to consider being with him. When he comes to tell her about her father's death she doesn't want to lean on him, but she can't help herself. Over the next few days she sees a different side of him and has hopes for their future. When she discovers he's still not leaving the military she gets angry and storms off. But a much larger storm shows her that maybe there's a chance for her if she can just show a little faith.

Oh what a fun story. I love friends to lovers stories and this one was especially cute. We have Harris, a hot fireman, who sees Clair as only a good friend until some naked photos of a mystery woman, that he stumbles upon accidentally, catches his eye. This causes Clair, who has always been interested in being more than friends with Harris, to step up and try to convince Harris that they were meant for one another. I give this story 5 stars. Absolutely loved it.

Tailspin
Short, sweet, sexy and still packed with a lot of emotion and love. I read this story ages ago when it was part of an anthology but now that it's reissued on it's own I decided on a reread. And I still loved it. Buck was so hot and Sadie was such a sweetheart. Even though this was just a novella the story was just as satisfying as a full length novel. And my heart just melted reading about the interactions between the humans and the animals in the story. I love stories with pets in them and this one was just so aww worthy to read. Oh! Apparently Buck was the last of his group of friends to fall in love so if you want more novellas to read, I believe there are three other guys in the group that have stories to read. Uncovered is actually his friend, Harris's story so yay for that. Now I have to find the other two friends' stories ;) I give this story 5 stars too.

An honorable man
Every once in a long while I'll stumble upon a story where I'm not so crazy about the heroine and this happens to be the case in this story. Without giving too much away, here is a story where the hero, Hamilton Wulf, knows he's in love with Liv, the heroine, but she's the one holding back and I can understand her reasoning but after awhile I just wanted her to get over it already. Ham was so lovable and amazing that I couldn't understand why Liv was willing to throw him away because she just wouldn't make some compromises for love. But it all worked out in the end so I'm happy. The writing as usual was great and the overall story was good. I just didn't like Liv. I'm sorry to say that especially because Lori Foster is one of my favorite authors but that's just how I feel. So as an individual story, I give this one 3 stars.

Pretty typical romance novella from Foster. I wasn't in love with the female character. She seemed a little odd. Of course, a strapping, gorgeous firefighter can redeem just about any story in my book, but it wasn't the best thing I've ever read. Short stories are always difficult because they naturally seem rushed. It just wasn't 100% believable.

TAILSPIN

Another example of why some stories deserve more than just a hundred pages. I feel like if this was a whole novel it would have been much better and the character development could have really progressed and not seem out of touch and unrealistic. There is just no way that someone goes from being a virgin with absolutely zero social life to buying a house with a guy in 2 weeks. It needed more time to grow.

AN HONORABLE MAN

I dig this little story. Because the characters are set up with years of back story (even if you don't get to read about it) there is no question as to why the relationship progresses the way it does. Of course, 10 more pages could have helped show the push and pull between the whole idea of military wife life and what not, but I didn't feel like it was unreasonable that the story wrapped up like it did.

This book irritated me in so many ways. I had so much hope but it kept getting squashed (see that this was published in the early 2000’s). A girl can only handle so much 😕

For each of these stories, I really like the length of them. When you're looking for an emotionally fulfilling story with lots of happy twinges but you don't have hours and hours to get sucked into a full length novel, these are great. The sex scenes are somewhat graphic but they don't take up huge portions of the story. My one complaint with these stories is that they tended to make a lot of gender role assumptions: it's not just that “this” is what the heroine is like, it's that she acts (or looks) so feminine because of “this”. Same thing with the heroes, they do things because they're masculine not because that's just the heroes personality.

I've read this story three-plus times now. I love the characters, the emotion and the plot. It's been on my keeper shelf for a while and I liked that I got to add it to my Kindle collection now. Whenever I need a nice, easy, shorter story, I pick this one. It's a great friends-to-lovers story and gives me lots of happy twinges when I read it. Clair is strong and smart and decides to take her destiny into her own hands. Harris likes his friendship with Clair and starts out pretty nervous to change that, but he doesn't deny his feelings as they get stronger. You can really believe in these two.

I like that, even though there are the gender stereotype issues for me, Clair is still obviously smart and capable. She goes after what she wants and doesn't let insecurities in her relationship with Harris stop her. She caved with some of the “girly” stuff, like when Harris gets protective and doesn't want her to run alone, first she starts to set him down but then mutters that she wouldn't do that anyway. It bugged me a little bit on this read, but the story is good enough to get through that and I know I'll read it again.

Tailspin

Buck and Sadie were fun to read. It was my first time reading this story. There were some well-worn, old-school stereotypes for romance heroines in here. Sadie grew up sheltered, alone, and teased with a freshly deceased mother who was sick for a long time. Now she's a wide-eyed virginal heroine just waiting for someone like Buck to notice her. But she's so shy and reserved that she wouldn't dream that someone like Buck would be interested.

The two dogs really pull off this story though. You're able to see so much of the characters personalities through their interactions with the dogs. I enjoyed the book for the fun romp that it was. It had some nice romantic parts and was fulfilling in an old-school sort of way. It won't be my first choice in a re-read, but it'll definitely be read again sometime.

An Honorable Man
3.5 stars
This story was a bit more difficult for me. It felt more sad overall. Instead of happy twinges, I ended up holding back tears a couple times. Liv has been so love-deprived her whole life and Ham has plans to finally change that. But his plans involve making Liv confront her biggest fear: marrying a military man.

I can totally understand trying to compromise and take love where you can, but this just felt so sad to me. I left the story feeling like “you might as well take what you can get because it's better than nothing”. I mean, Liv has real reasons for not wanting to marry a military man and while Ham is trying to find ways to compromise he just ends up seeming rather controlling. He didn't come out and ask Liv about his ideas. He didn't try to brainstorm compromises with her. He just set some plans in motion and then assumes she'll be prepared to give up everything she's worked for because he decided to “compromise”. I just felt Liv was the only one truly being asked to give anything up and that was just sad. The end felt like jumping off a cliff, “whoa, it's over” and didn't really feel like the characters would enjoy long-term contentment.

Each of these stories involved the hero having a certain amount of time off work. Buck and Ham were both on vacation for the length of the story and I think Harris had some vacation time during part of the story too. I believed Harris and Clair's story a lot because they had a prior relationship. I wasn't too sure about the other two stories' long-term prospects because everything was outside normal with the whole vacation thing. Still, I enjoyed the stories for the romantic snapshot that they were, but don't read the last one unless you're ready for the tug on your heart-strings and possible tears. These stories, especially the first two, are fun rainy day stories when you just want to relax for a couple hours.

Tailspin
Connected to above book.
Buck Boswell, owns a lumberyard, best friends with Harris Black
Sadie Hunt, vet's assistant, animal rescue
Neighbors with a stilted relationship bond over their joint effort to rehabilitate an abused dog.

Buck's never had trouble finding friends or girls. He's always respectful and kindhearted but never got serious with anyone. Sadie has always struggled socially and, at 25, has never been in a relationship of any kind. Buck's protective instincts kick in and voila! HEA Sweet story, handled well.

An Honorable Man

Liv Amery is an elementary schoolteacher in the small town her mother grew up in. She was sired by a neglectful father who devoted his life to the military, leaving his daughter behind. After losing her mother at a young age, Liv learned to live alone and tamped down any desires she may have had for marriage and a family of her own. The reason? The only one she ever wanted was longtime friend and protege' of her father, Lt. Col. Hamilton Wulf a.k.a. "Ham" or "Howler", another career military man (Air Force pilot and squadron commander), but Liv is adamant about not wanting to live the military life any longer.

When Liv's father dies suddenly, Ham comes back to break the news and help her recover. He's also determined to convince her to pull up stakes and abandon the home, friends, and life she's created to be with him and live as a military wife. He's facing a difficult battle because all she ever wanted was to put down roots somewhere and stay in one place.

These two had a lot of chemistry, built up after a decade of restraint. There was no doubt of their love for each other, but both characters were strong, stubborn, and set in their ways, and it was a toss-up how they were going to work out a compromise. There was also some drama and danger thrown in which added a nice surprise element to the story, although it did seem a bit contrived to help find an easy resolution to their problems.

[Read more at my blog, Geeky Reading!]

The first story, Uncovered, is about Harris Black, a firefighter, falling for a close friend of his. I really enjoyed this story. It was cute, and I loved the friendship and then growing romance between Harris and Clair was adorable and sweet, and very steamy. I really enjoyed how Harris found naked pictures of a woman and hired Clair’s bosses to find the woman; that brought a lot of entertainment.

I would easily give this story a 4.

The second story, Tailspin, was about Buck Boswell and Sadie, his neighbor who seems very uninterested in being friends. I liked Sadie, and how she took in animals to help them heal. Having the animals definitely added to the fun of this book. Buck was sweet, and I liked how he pushed Sadie and subsequently fell for her. I’d read this story before in an anthology, but it was just as cute the second time. This was a cute and funny story.

I would also give this story a 4.

The last story, An Honorable Man, was weaker for me. It’s about Hamilton, a military man, and Liv, who comes from a military family and doesn’t want a man in it. The ending was cute, but overall I just didn’t connect as well with the characters in this story, so it didn’t work for me.

I’d probably give this one closer to a 3, maybe 2.5. So I rounded the overall rating to a 3.5.

lori Foster is one of my favorite authors.

Uncovered

Harris a firefighter, and Claire works for a detective agency. these two are neighbors, and friends. they jog together, hang out, but Claire sees Harris and wants to be more than friends. I love how these two figure out their feelings. the scene with the huge blow up of Claire's pic was LOL funny.

Tailspin

Buck and Sadie, neighbors, buck owns a lumber mill Sadies saves animals. Buck is fur baby sitting for a friend, Sadie has as Buck put it an ugly fur baby. the first scene with Sadie and the dig running around the yard cracked me up. what follows is a loveable , satisfying and heartwarming story. I love all of these stories, but I think this one is my fave.

An Honorable Man

Wulf and Liv. Wulf is a military man, and has come to Liv with changes that will put their resolve and love to the test. I love alpha males and strong women with brains. Liv is from a military family, her father being a General does not want a husband in the military. Will Wulf convince Liv that she can count on him in day to day life? or will the military come between them? I liked this story, I get where they both are coming from and the story tells each side what is important.

This was a book containing three stories:

Uncovered

The first story is of Harris (a firefighter) and Claire (detective agency secretary). They are neighbors and jogging partners. Claire wants to be more but thinks Harris only sees her as a friend. It’s great how they work out their feelings – all because of a fire and dumpster full of pictures.

Tailspin

Next we meet Buck (lumber mill owner) and Sadie (animal rescue worker). Buck is dog-sitting and Sadie has an abused dog she is working with. Who knew a cicada, the stealing of underwear and dirty socks could bring two people (and dogs) together. It’s a fun and heartwarming story.

An Honorable Man

The final story is of Hamilton (career military) and Liv (hometown teacher with a military childhood and a life of loving Hamilton). Hamilton comes home to bring Liv some news that will change her forever. But Hamilton also has an alternative motive - can he convince her can she count on him to not let the military come between them like it did with her father?

Uncovered: I remember feeling disgruntled while reading "Uncovered" when I first read it years ago. Guess what? It has not improved with time. I find the plot skeevy and the heroine a wuss who a) can't stick up for herself, b) is creepily obsessed with her neighbor, and c) unable to set boundaries. Both behave badly, but he does it unknowingly. It does get better and manages to end cute BUT I'm still turned off by both the plot and by the way she handled the situation.

Tailspin: A typical cute/sweet/bland Lori Foster novella.

A Honorable Man: Wow, that was certainly deeper than I expect from Lori Foster! A character with real issues and real problems to work out! And, in a novella, no less...! I was impressed. I wish she'd do more like this. This has been by far my favorite of my recent LF glom reading streak.

I love Lori Foster!
This is 3 of her best novels in between one smoking hot cover!
First there's Harris in Uncovered. And as with each of her hero's, he's hot. And sweet. And sensitive. And completely captivated by an equally sweet heroine.
Then there's Buck Boswell. An admittedly awkward man. He's bold though and knows how to keep his shy neighbor flustered. Oh and add in a couple of pint sized trouble makers? Yeah, this is a story that will make you smile and get a little flustered yourself.
And last but not least..We meet Ham. Whatta name, huh? But he in no way is anything like his name. Yep, the guy is exactly what all of us girls wish for.
And he's a bit of hero too.
But there's also a lot of mischief going on too when you factor in that each girl has her own brand of sweet fuzzy loving going on.
Lori gives her all with every book she writes and that is why she is one of my all time favorite authors.

This was the second of the two books I picked up randomly as an exploration into hetero romance… and it was interesting. (For reference, the first was Taming a Wild Scot by Rowan Keats.) Hot in Here consists of three novellas that have been previously published. Each feature a man comfortable with being single who falls for an innocent/virginal woman. He has to convince her that his love for her is true and not just the stirrings of a one night stand.

Hot in Here was enjoyable, however, reading the three novellas bound as one volume, the formula becomes quite obvious.

I get excited anytime I see Lori Foster's name on a book cover. I am a huge fan and own almost all of her stuff, which is where the problem comes in. This is a collection of reprints. Luckily for me, I had not read the last novella An Honorable Man, but yeah, I'd already had the pleasure of reading Uncovered and Tailspin. All in all they were entertaining. As opposed to other reviews I've read, I actually enjoyed An Honorable Man the most, but perhaps that is because it was the only story that was new to me. It did feel awkward that it was not in anyway connected to the first two stories (which were originally part of a four part series) but they are all good as stand alone reads.

Two stories are from 2004 and one is from 2005. They were 3-star reads for me 10 years ago, but now they feel outdated despite Lori Foster's trademark gift for writing romantic chemistry that sizzles. If Hot in Here had contained at least one new story, it wouldn't upset me that my library spent some of its precious, limited funds on this instead of a new title by L.F. or another author. Reissues are easy money for the publishers, but in the longterm this strategy siphons away resources from already strapped public libraries, which act as showrooms where readers can take a chance on the unknown in the hope of discovering new favorites.

A great collection of short stories from Lori Foster. I enjoyed the fact that the first two stories had interconnecting story lines because they had best friends for heroes. Because the two stories were loosely connected, the third novella did feel a little out of place because neither the hero nor the heroine were connected to the first two stories. Individually they were fun to read with great character build up, fun characters, and some steamy plot lines.

I hate short stories. I thought this was the continuation of another series. Was disappointed to find short stories. Like the 2nd about the dogs and the lumber yard guy. But my favorite was the Honorable Guy or whatever...seem to be enthralled with military guys right now. Hate the short story short cut. I mean the ending is a fore-gone conclusion, so the only thing redeemable about a romance story is the journey. Short stories cut all that character development short. Boo.

I absolutely loved this book! This was the first Lori foster book I had read so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was definitely not disappointed. I loved how the first 2 stories intertwined with each other a little bit but not too much that it was the same story twice. I found the third one really had nothing to do with the first two and seemed totally separated which was kind of confusing but all in all the third story was really well written and definitely different than the other two.

This is a reprint for those who are a Lori foster fan. I had not read these so I loved them. The first two are part of a series where the characters over lap. One was a fireman and one was his friend who own a lumber yard. The third is a story about a military daughter loosing her father and her best friend who wants to be more comes to help her and ask her about the future.

Three great stories. Harris got his story in the first one and Buck in the second. Now they all are taken. The Last story was different characters. Liv and Hamilton had been in love for years but she had no intentions of being a military wife. Until something happens that makes her realize she has been wasting time.
