New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julie Leto is the multi-published and award-winning author of over forty-five novels for publishers such as Simon & Schuster, Penguin and Harlequin who has now turned her attention to independent publishing. She pens the popular “Dirty” sexy suspense series starring kick-ass, ex-gang girl Marisela Morales and the sensual paranormal “Phantom” books, as well as the crossover series, “Dirty Dare.” Julie lives on the west coast of Florida with her daughter, a brand-new Border collie mix rescue, a haughty Russian Siberian cat and a wide range of relatives all within driving distance. I'm not a fan of the new trend in writing these days...the "serialization" of books in which an author writes a story much like a T.V. Series....with new chapters released over a period of time until it's "Series Finale" otherwise known as the end of the book. It is frustrating to say the least.
However, In the first installment of Julie Leto's new serial, Dirty Dare, I was not so frustrated. This quick read gave me enough of what I needed emotionally as a reader; outstanding chemistry acted upon by our hero Devlin and his kick-butt heroine (in every sense of the word), Brynn, a fast-paced and easy to understand story line not bogged down in tenous details that confuse the reader (and I'm loving the different locations Brynn and Devlin have been placed in around the globe, as Ms. Leto writes amazingly enough you can feel yourself seeing everything the characters see), and the hero and heroine knowing they are very attracted to each other and acting on that (no wishy, washy I like you, I don't like you, I'm damaged, you're damaged....you get the point). She draws this fast, small storyline together nice and tight but leaves just enough of a cliffhanger that I'm not frustrated...I'm intrigued and actually want to read the second part as soon as it's written. And I absolutely love that our heroine isn't some simpering woman who can't hold her own against her leading man. I'm certainly going to look at swimming in a whole new light!
No, I'm very much a big critic of the new trend in serial writing. But Dirty Dare (and Julie Leto) have converted me for the time being and I can't wait to find out what Devlin and Brynn have in store for me next!

You have me hook, line and sinker. Great start to the series. I can't wait to read more. Brynn and Marisela make a great search and recover team. I foresee muy caliente nights with Sean.
*I received an e-ARC of this book from the author for an honest review.
I "discovered" Ms. Leto's books many years ago, through my subscription to Harlequin Blaze books. Her characters were thoughtfully developed and I became invested in their stories. I became a FAN of Marisela Morales, featured in the "Dirty" series, because Ms. Leto captured the true essence of the modern Latina - kickass, take-no-prisoners, loyal, strong, sexy and FUNNY. As for Dante, of "Dare Me," he was the quintessential successful, mysterious,....hot...piece...of...man. When Ms. Leto announced she was creating a bridge series between "Dirty" and "Dare," I was happy, happy, happy! Once I started reading "Dirty Dare: The Rescue," I was hooked!
Putting it mildly, Brynn Blake and Sean Devlin have "trust issues." They live their lives in the shadows, those grey areas outside the jurisdiction of countries, governments and the "normal" world. In the eye of the hurricane of espionage and intrigue, Brynn and Sean find each other and a hot connection worth pursuing. Will they let down their barriers and let each other in?
Brynn, our heroine, has created a tough, protective shell around herself to keep from being hurt. And, Sean, sexy, sexy Sean, is my favorite kind of hero - a tortured Alpha male with a gentle Southern drawl and Cajun lilt, that reminded me of Remy McSwain (played by Dennis Quaid, in "The Big Easy.")
Sean, you had me at "cher," Big Boy. And, then you took things into the pool....naughty, naughty . The action is hot and the attraction between Brynn and Sean is explosive. I cannot wait to see what happens in Part Two!
While, the "Dirty Dare" series will be stand-alone stories, I HIGHLY recommend reading the "Dirty Series," starring Marisela Morales "Dirty Little Secrets", "Dirty Little Lies" and "Dirty Little Christmas" and "Dare Me," Dante Burke's story, to get global perspective on the secondary characters in "Dirty Dare."
Dirty Dare: The Rescue is the beginning of a serial novel by NYT best-selling author Julie Leto. In other words, the book stops on a cliff hanger. Caveat: If you don't like serialized novels, wait until all the books are out before you read them. However, if you like a hot, sexy read with a scarred hero and a self-assured heroine, this story is for you. Brynne Blake is the CEO of Titan Investigations--the same company Marisela Morales from the Dirty books works for. Sean Devlin is a former special forces soldier/CIA operative who quit. Even so, he remains best friends with spymaster Dante Burke (from DARE ME).
Sean is kidnapped and tortured for information about a woman he once loved but is now dead. Dante calls in the favor Brynne owes him so she, with the help of Marisela, ride to Sean's rescue. Once they are safe in Spain, Marisela returns to work at Titan while Brynne stays with Sean during his recuperation. Things get hot. And sexy. And then two plus two isn't adding up any more. And that's all I'm going to say because I don't believe in spoilers. Obviously, I can't wait for the next book to release in July.
As a side note, I finally decided which author/series both the Dirty and the Dare books remind me of--Roxanne St. Claire's Bullet Catcher and Guardian Angelinos series. If you're fan of those, you might give Ms. Leto's series a try!
I’m a huge fan of Julie Leto and am so excited she has done a spine-off series with both the Dirty and Dare Me series of characters. Loved that we got to not only see Marisela, but learned more about her boss, Brynn in this book. Brynn is way more kick-ass than I thought she had the ability to be. Loved how protective she was of Sean from the very beginning, and thought their chemistry was strong from the very beginning. I love the suspense of this story as well as the budding romance between Brynn and Sean. While there is really only one true love scene in this book, I loved that it totally lasted over multiple chapters. I’m already counting down the days until the next installment in this series. Dirty Dare: The Reveal is currently slated for release on July 1, 2013.
No, no, no, no, no fair...it can't end there. Julie Leto is killing me. Oh my goodness this novella was good. It had the right amount of heat factor, a great storyline, awesome characters, passion and intrigue. I hope I don't have to wait too long for The Reveal. Ok, I'm hooked. I had serious misgivings about reading a serial, as I tend to feel shortchanged when I finish an episode. Dirty Dare was a breath of fresh air! It is the perfect length for a Saturday read and the .99 price definitely helps! The ending, while leaving me wanting more, wasn't one of those irritating cliffhangers that leave me so, well, irritated. I am looking forward to the next addition to this story, and definitely intend to catch up on my Julie Leto books!
Almost gave it a three because the way it ends leaves you hanging too much. It seems like a long prologue to the next books so that bugged me.
However, the characters were interesting and the story was fun. I would have liked a little more info on the background but it I am intrigued on what will happen in the next book.
I liked this short novella. The beginning was a little slow, but the author had to lay out the back story before she could get into the story between Brynn and Sean. I have a thing for spies and espionage stories. This story definitely had a lot of good elements in a romance and mystery. It was definitely worth the read and I plan on reading the other stories in the series.
I read this series as one whole book. I’m a brand new fan and was not disappointed in this story. Hot, steamy suspense. Dirty Dare has it. I did not want the story to end, it was that good. The chemistry between Sean and Brynn was so well written. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
