I've liked the rest of the books in this series, and there were parts of this book that I liked a lot. If I overlooked the whole idea that Abigail was a lesbian for ten years before she fell in Elliot, it worked for me.

But therein lies the problem - I can't overlook that character trait. Without going into whether one can be bisexual or not, I felt as if the author was treating Abigail's ten years as a lesbian as her 'crazy, youthful, rebellion phase,' and THAT I found to be insulting. She meets Elliot - becomes more financially aware, starts dressing 'normally', lives a 'normal' lifestyle, reunites with her family, and likes men - in essence she 'grows up.' I can't tell you how much this disturbed me. I'm all for character growth and transformations - but make Tully an ex-boyfriend, for goodness sakes. Or make Elliot an Eleanor. To equate Abigail's growth with turning heterosexual was wrong, and I could never get away from that when reading the book.

(I was also confused with this book being labeled as the 4th in the series. I read them this way, but you'll be confused if you do. This should be book 3, and Claire's book is Book 4. Their mom meets her new husband in Abigail's book, so its jarring when she shows up with a new husband in Claire's book.)

Al igual que los dos los primeros libros, me ha encantado esta saga... tal vez le hubiera sacado mas partido a la separacion de ellos dos y a su reencuentro asi como el final que he visto un poco precipitado pero en general me ha gustado mucho.

Mulry's cheery, joyful romance writing continues in this fourth (third?) installment of the Unruly Royals series. Yet I had major ideological problems with this one. Do-gooding sister Abigail broke up with her long-time girlfriend earlier in the series, and found herself attracted to American luxury goods magnate Eliot Cranbrook. Not really one for much self-reflection, Abby decides not to think too hard about her own sexuality ("I'm not going to label myself to make you feel better," she tells her brother when he asks if she's still a lesbian or not), and ends up allowing herself to be gradually wooed into bed by Eliot. But when Eliot declares his feelings, Abby runs away. For an entire year. Until the news that Eliot's engaged to someone else finally brings them back together.

I don't have a problem with a bisexual character moving from a girlfriend to a boyfriend. But Mulry does very little to show Abby's thoughts or feelings about being with a man sexually (for the first time), after being with a woman for ten years. The scene where Eliot asks Abby why she didn't tell him she was a virgin was particularly grimace-inducing—truly? Would a woman who had been having sex with another woman for ten years truly still have a hymen intact enough that a man would be able to feel it breaking??? This scene serves primarily to cut the overly PC Abby down to size (because her chastisement of Eliot's sexism gets thrown back in her face, she's the one being stereotypical, not him). Oh, and of course Abby becomes a better dresser, more in charge of her financial life, and a stronger advocate for the disadvantaged, all after breaking up with her girlfriend. Whether Mulry intended it or not, Abby's story comes across as the tale of the girl who grew up by ditching the girlfriend and hooking up with the smart capitalistic man. And there's no discussion at all of the connection between Western consumption of luxury goods and the state of less developed countries...

Yuck :-(

I really liked this book! I have enjoyed all of the previous books in this series so I am not surprised. In this latest entry, bohemian royal Abigail has ended a long term relationship with her girlfriend and finds herself attracted to seemingly starchy businessman Eliot Cranbrook. Wow, interesting beginning to a romance novel.....
Abby sees herself as a free spirit dedicated to working with deserving people and sees Eliot as a businessman involved in the frivolous fashion industry. However, after they meet she discovers that he is funny, sometimes raunchy and really a nice guy. Eliot is attracted to Abby but he isn't interested in being her "test drive" relationship with a man. He wants her all in or not at all. Just when things are moving along nicely, Abby's issues put the brakes on the relationship. A year later, both of them are unhappy and trying to move on while acknowledging inside that they haven't gotten over each other. As happened in all of the other books, Abby's royal brothers and meddling sister in laws do what needs to be done to get the requisite happy ending.
There are a few things with this book that made me wonder where the author was going but in the end it all works. Abby's change from maybe a lesbian to not a lesbian is mildly offensive- hence my 4 star rating. The first quarter of the book was confusing because it took place in the past (if you had read the previous book)and then skips to a year later. The time twist works in that it heightens the tension about the relationship working out.
I loved the interaction both between Abby and Eliot and their relationship with all of the other characters. The ending is perfect except for the fact that there doesn't seem to be anybody left to continue the series but who knows how it will go.

I picked up the first book on sale due to the premise, and ended up glom-reading all four books within a week due to travel. So my reviews are all a bit wrapped up together, and won't be super detailed for each one due to not being able to tell them all apart.

Fourth book, following the fourth child and second daughter, Abigail. I knew I was going to have a problem with this one because Abigail was presented as a lesbian throughout the first three books, though after she and her long-time girlfriend broke up she started being interested in Eliot, a friend of the family. Look, I know there is probably not a market for this story to be a lesbian story, and there would be people freaking out all over the place to have it be so, but I am really uncomfortable with this character suddenly going for a guy. The author tries to explain it, with some sort of bisexual/omnisexual descriptions and a discussion with Abigail's ex-girlfriend (and her new girlfriend) about it, but it all fell a bit flat for me. There are so many interesting women in this series, why not have Abigail fall in love with one of them? I want to see more representation, dammit! Even having Abigail fall in love with the black man from the resort would've been more representative than this turned out to be.

Leaving all of that aside, the book was on par with the rest in the series, including the year break after an awful fight. The book did devolve into ridiculousness with a house party involving Eliot and his fiancee meeting there unexpectedly as they're there with other people, which is just idiotic and disrespectful. Blech. And then poof wrapup and everyone's happy. Yay?

Overall, fun reading for travel, but I mostly finished this just to finish the series. I'd rate this a mild R for its sexual content and swearing.

After ending her long time relationship, Abigail is ready to figure out what she wants from her life. She knows it is not jet plane rides, glamourous clothing, or living in a castle. This is not the attitude you would expect from a Princess. There is one thing for sure that Abigail wants and that is multi millionaire, Eliot.

Eliot can not stop thinking about Abigail. He wants her. However he wants her forever as in being his wife. He knows that is not what Abigail wants. Yet, he can not be without her, even if she will break his heart.

R is for Rebel is the latest book in the Unruly Royals series. I have not read the prior novels but I had no problems jumping right into this book. Well to be honest, it did take me a moment or two to figure out what was happening in the beginning. What I mean by this is that Abigail had already met and formed an attraction to Eliot. There was no lead up to their meet and greet. However, I liked this book a lot that I want to go back and read the three prior ones.

I liked Abigail and Eliot's relationship. It was very grown up. Which is what Abigail was needing in her life. I had an instant connection with Eliot from the beginning. He was genuine. I have to admit though that I did not find Abigail to be that "wild". I was expecting from the title of this book for her to be a bad girl. She was more of a wannabe bad girl. Overall I thought this was a fun book.

Lady Abigail Elizabeth Margaret Victoria Catherine Heyworth, fourth child of the eighteenth Duke of Northrop, sister to her filial inquisitor, the nineteenth Duke of Northrop is nothing like any royal you know. Preferably called by her first name Abby or her nickname in family circle, Abs, she was in the middle of post-break-up phase from her girlfriend Tully. Then on her nephew’s christening she met an American Eliot Cranbrook that shook her world. Would she fall for her first man crush?
The beginning of the book took place by the end of the second book where Devon and Sarah getting married in Caribbean. It was funny to me because it didn’t look like a fourth book. At first we were told that both Abby and Eliot share the same feeling though Eliot thought it would be a bad idea if they were together.
As it turns out he tried to tell Abby that he didn’t care about her past relationship and his for their relationship. THEY FINALLY KISSED BY THE END OF CHAPTER 5 and I literally screaming HALLELUJAH while fisting my hands in the air. The tension dear, I was close to push them together NOW KISS NOW OR NEVER AT ALL.
The emotional turn in this book is beyond me. Especially the fight in the hotel and before Bronte’s labor. This is the best one out of the four, no kidding. Too many surprises that nearly choked me but I love the ride.

Good read. The heroine is coming off a long-term relationship with another woman and finds herself surprisingly attracted to a man. She's trying to figure out who she wants to be now that she's grown up. The hero is the CEO of a fashion company, more of an acquisitions and sales job than the design end, apparently. He's good friends with her new sister-in-law, which is how they meet, and they hit it off well, but he quickly wants more than she does. Very little time is spent on her conversion from girls to boys-- or from one girl to this boy. Apparently that's the motivation, both ways, but I think I'd have liked at least a bit more angsting about it all, if not more explanation--which definitely would have been nice. So when he confesses he's in love and wants more than a fling, she panics for some reason I didn't quite get, and they break up. I never understood that bit. After he gets engaged to someone else, he tells the new fiancée that there's there's this old flame he's still stuck on. She tells him to take the next few weeks to clear things up. But when he meets the heroine again, it's not as over as he thought it was. It's a good story but things were skimmed over that I would have liked more depth to, and some of the love scenes made me feel squidgy. Still, I liked this. It's well worth reading, especially if you like very dominant heroes.

R Is for Rebel is definitely a roller-coaster ride. Not having read the first three books in the series, I found myself a bit confused as to what some of the other characters were referring to in the book, but it got more understandable later on in the story. Megan Mulry does a good job describing what each character in the book is feeling or going through, which I liked.

The book starts off with Abigail talking to her brother about her recent break-up. We don't get a lot of details of how she ends up with her ex-girlfriend, but she starts to have feelings for Eliot Cranbrook, a family friend, rather quickly. In the book Abigail is described as a free spirit/ bohemian royal, which it made the book that much more interesting to read. After so many years away with her ex-girlfriend, Abigail doesn't know what to do with herself and that's when Eliot, her friend, comes into the picture and helps her brainstorm what she could do. Despite all their differences, they seem to get along very well. Eliot is understanding and charming, but behind all of that he is a very smart businessman who enjoys traveling and spending time with her. But the more time they spend together, the more she starts to feel that Eliot wants more from her than she is able to give at the moment and will have to decide whether or not to be with him or let him go.
Eliot Cranbrook is a fashion lover, he enjoys luxury and being friends with a very respected/royal family is just what he needs when he meets Abigal Heyworth. He years to have something much more with Abigal and he is determined to let her see just how right they are together. But just when is about to keep her for good, she turns him down and everything falls apart. Now after a year apart, things have changed and he'll have to decide whether or not to forget about or fight for her.

Abigal and Eliot's interaction with each other is intense from the very beginning. They are attracted to one another, but Abigal is the one that doesn't want to commit. One of the things about this book is that it's not about both their growths, just Abigal's. She is the one that has to find herself and discover what she really wants and fight for it. I enjoyed reading about the other characters in the book and it does make me want to read the first three books of the series. Although I might have just spoiled myself with what happens in the future for them, so I would recommend reading the first three books to those that want to know more background stories before getting into this book, (it can also be read as a stand-alone). I would have liked to see more scenes in the book of them both, but the ending was satisfying and I really enjoyed it.

R is for Rebel – what can I say. I have enjoyed every moment of reading about the Unruly Royals, from big brother Max (the duke) to Abby, his youngest sister, and everyone in between. Abby’s story was always going to be different. From the time she arrived on the scene not wearing designer duds and throwing her well-worn backpack in a corner of the Great Hall, I knew it would have to be someone very special to capture her attention. And so it proved, only a luxury-goods magnate from a flyover state would do for Abby.

Eliot and Abby became friends first, bonding over ridiculous movies and fine Scotch while the dulcet toned duchess (not!) gave birth to the heir offstage. This may sound odd but I thought of Nora Robert's Montana Sky when I read this because Abby is gently and oh so lovingly pushed by her sisters-in-law and her sister Claire, to get her self over to Paris where a certain magnate is attending the Paris fashion shows. If luxury and a mini-Paris-vacay is up your alley, here it is, all on the page. I definitely made some mental notes!

Abby has Eliot dreaming again of true love and a world well lost for the “other” and he sees and loves every part of her, the waif, the entrepreneur, the visionary, the sister … and the woman born to wear French lingerie. Abby is a phoenix, re-imagining her life, embracing her past and her family's legacy, finally walking into the sunshine of a lasting love.

Recently I heard a song by Grammy Award winner Kacey Musgraves, “Follow Your Arrow” and the lyrics epitomized R is for Rebel. Abby and Eliot definitely and joyously trip ‘round the sun!

So make lots of noise
Kiss lots of boys
Or kiss lots of girls
If that's something you're into
When the straight and narrow
Gets a little too straight
Roll up a joint, or don't
Just follow your arrow
Wherever it points, yeah
Follow your arrow
Wherever it points

Say what you think
Love who you love
'Cause you just get
So many trips 'round the sun

Talk Supe Review

PRINT COPY UP FOR GRABS STARTING 2/28

Megan Mulry's R IS FOR REBEL was a lovely novel in itself and a great ending to a wonderful series. Not only was Eliot Cranbook and Abigail Hayworth's romance fleshed out to my satisfaction, we also get a peek at the previous couple's blissful lives excluding Claire who was featured in Unruly Royals 3, In Love Again.

Abigail and Eliot first met in If The Shoe Fits and their attraction slowly built from there. I loved that their relationship is based on friendship and other commonalities which built a strong foundation for their romantic relationship. So expect sweet seductions, expensive dates, swoony romance, steamy interludes and lots of romantic quotes which will give you butterflies in your stomach.

I love R IS FOR REBEL. It's deeper, more emotional and more erotic than the previous Uruly Royals novels and I won't have it any other way. I appreciate this "update" MMulry did to keep up with the reader's preference for something dark and sexy and it fit quite well with the story without losing it's romcom light-heartedness. And even if I'm a little sad to say goodbye to Unruly Royals, I'm happy that it was Abigail and Eliot's story that sent us off. Theirs is an enduring story of passion and friendship plus those little vignettes with the previous couples added a great touch of "closure" to the series. Fans can rest easy that Max and Bronte (Royal Pain), Devon and Sarah (If The Shoe Fits) and even the Hayworth's snobbish mother, Sylvia, all are living blissfully in love with their respective partners.

So if you love regency romance and/or Downton Abbey, Megan Mulry's Unruly Royals is like a modern version of these historical romances. Or if you're fond of Kinsella and Cabot's work, I'm sure Ms. Mulry's writing voice will captivate you as well.

Looking for a book with great chemistry, sexy banter and fantastic characters? Then look no further because R is for Rebel has all that and a lot more! When the youngest Heyworth, Abigail sees the sexy Eliot Cranbrook she knows she’s in trouble. Her heart and her body are screaming for his attention but Eliot has had a thing for Abigail for quite some time, and he’s not interested in becoming just some guy. He wants to be THE guy. But how’s he supposed to make Abigail see that without scaring her off? As Abby and Eliot embark on a not so normal relationship, Abby strives to keep Eliot at arm’s length emotionally, while keeping her arms physically wrapped around him and Eliot is busy trying to show Abby what a grown up relationship is all about. Can Abby and Eliot forge their way into a once in a life time kind of love or are their ideas just too far apart?

Sexy, sizzling and oh so amazing! This book is everything I was looking for and more! I simply adored Eliot throughout the whole book; his character is to-die for! He knows what and who he wants and is willing to stop at nothing to get it, even if it means getting his heart trampled on in the process. Abby’s character is exactly as I expected it to be: confused, selfish, but good-hearted. The story was so real, so entertaining that I wanted to scream at Abby, “Wake Up Girl! Don’t push him away!” I literally found myself growling at the pages! But don’t worry; it all works out in the end! I loved the sexy chemistry between Eliot and Abby, so charming and fun and the passion is just delicious! But hey, don’t take my word for it, pick up your copy and read it for yourself! And if you haven’t read the others in the Unruly Royals Series, don’t worry, you’ll still love this one, and you will probably want to go back and catch up!

We enter the 4th in the series with the decided relationships of Abigail's three older siblings firmly in place and Abigail simply trying to figure out what direction she wishes to go in her life. The book starts off with a solid friendship with her brother's business partner Eliot Cranbrook, but their romance seems to frighten Abigail and make a relationship that seems simple from the outside more complex and filled with problems than either of them could have expected.

When I started reading this fourth installment, I was a little startled at how quickly this couple jumped all-in to their romantic relationship. I wondered where the conflict was at, and I feared what I couldn't see ahead. Surely they liked one another too much, too soon? Sure enough, there was so much more coming, and that really was what kept me reading.

Abigail is a difficult character to wrap my mind around, and I'm sure she must have driven Eliot batty. Although she has all of this strength of character and experience with philanthropy, she reserves her own heart and fails to express what she is really feeling and shuts people out. It was infuriating at times. Honestly though, I wonder if Eliot would like Abigail in the long-term if she wasn't a bit more of a fight, as odd as that sounds.

By the last third of the book, there is a crazy, dramatic twist that you just can't see coming. In some ways, it would have felt like a romantic comedy with its twists and turns if the heightened emotions weren't so gut-wrenching. I ended up enjoying the way Mulry handled it, but do wonder if she had a few other endings that she played with a bit. While Abigail was once a bit of a rebel, I think she just refused to ever do anything in her life half-hearted, include love. Thankfully, I don't think that will be her problem!

I didn't realize when I started that this book was a part of a series, but while reading the first books probably enhances the experience of reading this book, I don't think it is necessary. That this was a part of a series was my first surprise; my second was that Abigail is coming out of a longtime relationship with a woman yet finds herself attracted to Eliot, who she knows through her brother. I guess this catches Abigail by surprise as well! It is a very interesting development and I thought the hesitation and confusion experienced by Abigail was very understandable. I really loved Eliot as a hero and thought the ending was very satisfying. I will have to go back and read some of the other books in this series when I have time. This is the 4th book of a series and I have not read the first 3 books.

I had a very hard time getting into the book. I started to read it,and then put it away for a couple of weeks. Today I picked it up again and finished it.

I didn't like the beginning at all. I was confused as to who was who or did what, or how the characters were connected, even trying to figure out the personality of the characters. After the first 20% of the book I had that sorted out and started to enjoy the book more.

I had expected a great read from the book description, and was very excited to read it. It's not a bad book, but I was a bit disappointed overall. The book got way better in the the second half, so overall I did enjoy the read.

The premise is what attracted me to this novel and the story kept me reading. I enjoyed it immensely. It is book 4 in a series I have not read, but I was not lost or confused. I was however, interested enough in the series to seek out the first 3. The premise was quirky and I wasn't sure how the author was going to get the heroine n=and hero to their happily ever after - which is why i say that it is well plotted. Megan Mulry did a great job of not telegraphing the twists and turns or the ending. It was a fun read and I look forward to more.
