Dancing for a new boy band should be a teenager’s dream come true, but success comes at a price.
Driven by jealousy, Jennifer’s spiteful attack almost ends Carrie’s fabulous new dancing career, but luckily the strong hands and caring heart of the gorgeous Daniel Lewis, are there to pick up the pieces.
Being deeply in love, as only first love can feel, Carrie is devastated when Daniel heads off on a three year football scholarship in Atlanta, but despite her father’s harsh disapproval and Jennifer’s continued vindictive crusade, Carrie is determined to stay true.
Refusing to believe all is lost and despite Daniel’s mystifying silence, Carrie sends him secret messages of love as she dances her way round the world. But while her hectic schedule is filled with dreams of Daniel, he discovers football stardom and contracts worth millions of dollars.
With the allure of hundreds of beautiful women and the offer of a lifestyle beyond his wildest dreams, will Daniel find America a temptation too strong to ignore? Or was a single summer of thumping hearts and heated looks, enticement enough for Daniel to give up his silent treatment and come home to Carrie once more.
I was born in Essex England during the mid sixties but I missed all the fun. Being only young I assumed that all Beatles were six legged creatures and Flower Power was something to do with the vigorous way my mother kneaded the bread dough.
My wonderful parents brought me up with a huge love of books. We read anything and everything. Bedtime stories were a treasured time of adventure and mystery. My sister and I sat wide eyed in wonder and to this day I worry about Dinah and Dorinda being pricked with pins because they grew so fat, and I never pull faces at the a waning moon (or was it a waxing one?) just in case my chops stay that way . (The Wind On The Moon)
I began reading romance while still at school. The fuel for many a teenage fantasy leapt from between the covers of wildly romantic books and my passion still lingers now for all those dark haired heroes.
My own beautiful teenage daughter persuaded me to write my first romance. She was only fourteen at the time and between books for children and adults. She couldn’t find anything that ticked all her numerous and particular boxes and so she asked me to write a book, with all the exact ingredients just for her. Though not just a book for teens, she enjoyed the resulting tale so much that she shared it with her friends and I eventually published A Perfect Summer as an ebook on amazon.
But I have discovered that writing is not easily stopped once you start. It has turned into a grand passion that I just cannot hold back. The fingertips start tapping the keys and ideas suddenly come flooding, far too many for just one book and so I began another and then another. Nine books later I am still nowhere near done. Book ten is on its way and only just the other night I woke from a wild and wonderful dream with book eleven fully formed in my head.
Romance will always be my first love but recently I was so influenced by a tiny polished plaque on a sea wall that I gave paranormal romance a try. (Echo Beach) Mixing the two genres was a real challenge for me but I was delighted with the result. Historical romance is going to be my next genre. All those fabulously titled and passionate men are impossibly hard to resist.
All of my books are Easy Reading Romance, intended only to while away a few hours with some light entertainment.
They are not meant to teach you anything or to stay with you for years after reading. Please do not read or review them if you are expecting anything deeper or more meaningful.
I hope you enjoy all of my efforts and I look forward to your comments and reviews.
If we don’t mind the amateurish writing style and the dumb premise of this book where she waits for him for three years while he doesn’t contact her at all because she loved him dearly even though he didn’t express love feelings or even kissed her before he left…
Well, it left a smile on my face when I finished it. So there’s that.
This was a really wonderful romance. Although it can be seen as a teenage book, actually it's a great story for any true romantic of any age.
Carrie has known Daniel since they were kids. Now, at sixteen, she knows that she loves him but has no idea how he feels about her. She gets a great opportunity to be a dancer with a new boy band and he wins a scholarship for the States. Carrie is devastated that he will be leaving her for three years. She wants to tell him how she feels, but before she can, he leaves unexpectedly early.
During the three years apart, Carrie hears nothing at all from Daniel. She can't believe that he isn't speaking to her. He is her dearest friend, even if he never wants to be anything else. She can't bring herself to close the door on her love for him until she knows for sure there is no hope.
I won't say more, as I don't want to spoil this treasure of a story. It has such an uplifting feeling in it. I loved all the characters. Carrie's Dad was quite a character. I could really see him in my head. I also loved the rest of the supporting cast. This is a great book I would recommend to anyone that loves a real romance. It left me with a sappy, happy smile on my face. Just wonderful!
"Silent Treatment" by Jackie Williams is a very enjoyable classic teenage romance. Carrie pursues a career in dancing while her new flame Daniel goes to the US on a football scholarship. Will their love stand the test of time? I am not one for very girlie teenage literature but this book has done a great job at keeping me interested and making the characters likeable and believable. With some unexpected depth and great plotting this is a rather entertaining and rewarding read.
What a sweet love story that has absolutely won my heart! What I appreciated the most about it was not only the romance part but how inspirational it was and how it dwelled on such important issues as bullying, envy, true friendship and overbearing parents (who sometimes may very well ruin someone’s chances for happiness). Carrie was a wonderful central character: strong-willed, determined and extremely hard-working, and just for that, she earned my utmost respect. Her relationship with Daniel (and Daniel himself) was written in such a way that I just wanted to hug them both and shake their hands - they were a perfect couple without excessive sweetness to them: incredibly respectful toward each other, patient, understanding and mutually supportive. By the end of the book, it felt like they were my close friends who I’ve known my whole life and not just two characters from the book, and you can’t really ask for more. Loved this story! Five stars.
It's a really sweet romance with two characters who really seem to love one another, but take responsibility with their lives and their futures during that tempestuous period of time at the end of highschool.
Lots of witty banter and some very fun scenes too. The father figure was exactly like my own. A right idiot!
Such a sweet and romantic story about Carrie and Daniel of first love. I think we ALL remember that sweet, awkward, innocent love we felt with our first loves and the butterflies in the tummy. I know I do. OK, so puppy love is sweetest ever. But it's also real.
Carrie is a tender 16 year-old at the start of their story in the book and she has known Daniel since their childhood. As is typical at that age, she is "in love" with him but has no idea if he might feel the same way. When Daniel leaves for college, you can imagine how she felt...like it was the end of the earth and how would she live without him, especially not knowing how he felt; however, after three years goes by she's heard nothing from him so not too encouraging. Both characters are lovable, but I have to say that Daniel totally captured my heart.
I love when a book makes me FEEL something, and this book, their love story did just that. I ran the gamut of emotions. There wasn't a moment that I wasn't engaged in their plot and each of the characters and their journey to love. I would call this one a friends-to-lovers book and the best of its kind. This is the kind of book you want to read when you might feel like reminiscing your first love days or just want to read about young love and all the emotions it carries with it and the unknowing.
I don't often write reviews, and I don't like writing negative reviews but this book was terrible. I have read 81 books in the past 6 months and this would have to be the worst. I do rely on people's reviews when I chose a book and I think the only thing I agreed on from past reviews for this book was that it was a quick read!
The book is about teenagers, but they speak to each other like they are 65!!! It is all SO far fetched that it often made me laugh out loud at how ridiculous it was! I think the author should consider writing books for another age group (possibly more elderly people) or spend a lot of time with teenagers or young people as well as read some books from some successful YA or contemporary authors.
