Note to Bama - On this cover the H is doing the nipple check, a little role reversal...interesting!
4 Stars! We are back on track! This installment had some depth to its story and characters.
"“There’s nothing easy about loving a SEAL.”
Sam "Ice" Westervelt and Syndra Banks have had an 8 year relationship...if you could call it that. Ice laid it on the line for Syn years ago, his job dictated when and for how long they would be together and apart. He is always at the mercy of his pager. Syn's accepted this unconventional relationship, because she loves Ice so much, but she's reached her limit and has decided that this rendezvous in Key West will be their last. Funny thing is, Ice is nearing his 20, only months away, and he thinks it's high time he settled down with the woman who's captured his heart.
Okay, so not only was the sex hot with these two, they were passionate about each other, they had history and it made for a rather enjoyable read. Syn knows all the guys on the team, they care about her very deeply and recognize how lucky Ice is to have her. So, when the pager goes off and Ice goes about giving her a half-assed proposal as he's racing to the helo, they all set him straight...very amusing. The text messages from Syn were funny and sweet and I had a lump in my throat at the end of the book.
The author had the right blend of sex and couple chemistry in this one, and even with Ice's hard edge, I warmed to him right away. Syn was sassy and fun, just right for Ice.
Please, please tell me that there will be a wrap up book for this series. The stories end, but not the way I would like them to. I don't want to use my imagination, I want it in writing...everyone's HEA!! I will not be a happy camper if I'm left hanging! Not that the author's care, but I felt I needed to say that!
Syndra Banks should be thrilled by an invitation to join SEAL team Arapahoe in Key West for a wild good time. Instead the text summons from Ice pisses her off. Why? Because he calls and she goes running, without fail, every damn time. And now she doesn’t have a choice. If Syn wants to get her personal life moving forward she has to see him again in person to break it off.
Thanks to his smokin’ hot lover, Master Chief Sam Westervelt is losing his edge. Syn is melting the ice that runs in his veins, turning it into a river of molten lust. His discipline is shot and he’s daydreaming about intense, steamy sex while on missions, putting his entire team at risk. But he has a surefire plan all figured out if he can just toe the line a little longer.

Hello, Ice. I love the strong, silent types who go all gooey around the lady of their dreams. Ice definitely fits that bill. Syn destroys him. She wraps herself inside him and refuses to budge. Not that she's much better off. Ice is in her blood. No, wait. That doesn't sound right. Ice is buried in her... wait, that just sounds dirty.
Okay. Hot guy. Sexy woman. Sex so steamy I'm surprised they didn't melt the boat. There you go.
Short seal romance that is part of a series. Well worth the read although short it packs a punch. Strong characters and yes lots of sex but it’s also a romance.
I've been reading this SEALs On Fire anthology and from the stories I've read, this is by far my favorite one.
Syndra is ready to call it quits. Her biological clock is ticking, and the man she loves is not the kind of man who'd get married and have kids. At least not while he's still a SEAL.
He's on leave, she doesn't know how long that'd last but she plans to make the best of it. After one more night of mind blowing sex, her one last time with Sam, and she'd break it off. She wants a future and Sam can't give it to her.
Sam knows Syndra is about to break things off, but he prefers to ignore it. If he can only not let her break up with him now, all he needs is a few more months before he can retire and offer her what she wants. The problem is he can never find the words when he's around her.
The sex in this book is darn hot and the characters are very likable.
For a short read, I thought it was pretty good. I guess what helped too was that the characters had known each other for years, and the author did a good job of level setting that up front so it came out an as established relationship.
This was one of those short enough to read at bedtime.

Melting Ice is the fifth book in the SEALs On Fire Series by Nicole Austin. While I have not read this series before I found it could be read and enjoyed as a standalone. This series is a bit different from the norm because several of the books are written by different authors, like Desiree Holt, Brenna Zinn, Samantha Cayto, Allie Standifer, and Regina Carlysle. I have Nicole Austin before and was interested in another story by her and I found this one.
Sam, aka Ice, and Syndra have been together for years working there relationship around his military schedule. Syn loves Ice a lot she was willing to work around his schedule but lately she wants more. She decided that this trip with Ice is her last. She wants kids, married and a spouse that is home more than away. Sam has been in the military for almost twenty years and is ready to give his heart to the women he loves.
The chemistry between Ice and Syn is blistering hot. The sex scenes were a wonderful mix of hot and steamy fun. Syn was the perfect match for Ice in the bedroom and out. As long as Ice communicates with Syn these two are a great match long term for each other.
This story felt like much long than the 52 pages it was. It was packed with emotion and it also showed how hard it’s on the families of the military when they are away from home. While I was not fond of the ending, I found it very realistic. Overall, I will be picking up the other books in the series shortly.
3.5stars this fun sexy short is part of a series that doesn't have to be read in order to follow along. In the broadest terms it's the carnal lives of a team of SEAL members. Ice & Syn have been doing this dance for 8years and she is thinking it's time for them to go their separate ways - after all her biological clock is starting to sound like Big Ben. Ice on the other hand plans to surprise her by ending his SEAL career in a matter of a few short months. The sex is hot an plentiful as this couple gets everything said and done in a few pages. Its a nice mind mint to clear the deck for the next book and/or to take a very short reading break.
Very fast read, unfortunately for me the first for me. Now I see what I have been missing out. I like this style of writing, it seemed real. The fact that Ice never told her how he felt but it was all churning inside him, typical man stuff there not always seen in these stories.Syn grappling with her feelings of letting go and moving on because she's realized that she had put her life on hold for this relationship that had no real guarantees, well except the fact that they would set the sheets on fire, well that should have been taken into consideration after all... This was a fast paced, scorching hot read.
Melting Ice is a hot story about a Navy Seal with the nickname of Ice because he stays cool as ice under pressure and the rest of the time too except when he is around Syn's hot body and smoldering green eyes. I just love stories about hot military heroes and the women that love them as they are called to serve and protect us. The sex scenes were fun, steamy and intense with lots of feelings exploding in the process in the limited time the two have before he is paged away to duty again. The text messages that were at the end of the story gave it a perfect ending or rather beginning.
Great cover, poorly written short story This book could have been a lot better, even for such a short book. The internal struggle of both characters seemed misplaced, these were not two people who appeared shy in any other aspect of their lives, they could not string more than a few words together. So at the end, the book was a lot of distracting sex written into the story, with a few grunts and sweet texts thrown in. I don't recommend this book.
There was so much inner turmoil going on between these two. You were just wail for their tops to blow. The so wanted to be together but just could not get out of their own way. Syn & Ice just want normal but on their terms but neither one wanted to break the code of silence & share feelings/emotions. Was it time to call it quits or move it forward? I recommend this erotic funny story. You will enjoy it. So far the Seals on fires that I have read I have enjoyed.
I liked the beginning of this story and how Ms. Austin portrayed at the most closed off and dangerous SEAL of them all, but I found the story didn't run smoothly, much like Ice and Syn's relationship. It's a decent quick read, but not my favorite of the series. Still, Ms. Austin has tight writing and a great premise. I did like the ending and how Ice's Teammates berated him for his approach to Syn.
This is a sexy short read. Other than their relationship, there isn't much to this book. If you're looking for a long love story, find something else. If you want something hot, steamy, sexy and short, pick this up. It was good! I enjoy the slightly dominant aspect of ICE. I also found the ending humorous. It was a really good story.
Wow! This is one of the most fun, sexy reads I've found in a while. The chemistry, banter, and smexy scenes between Syndra Banks and her long time, on-again off-again boyfriend Navy SEAL Sam "Ice" Westervelt, jumps off the page!
This was a fun, quick novella. I picked it up for free on amazon. It was better than I expected and I am going to give the other books in the series a chance based on this one.
There's a lot of hot sex, great characters but the story goes too fast. There's many mentions of SEALs but there are no missions other than getting laid with the possibility of forever. in this one, this SEAL has had a bed buddy but she now wants more. He knows she's going to break off the relationship and to keep her from doing that, they have loads of sex.
The ending was good and funny. I loved how the whole team got in on it at the end. This story finishes its end in the last book of the series.
