I feel like I'm just not that invested in the story anymore sadly. This book only started to interested me at about 75%. I just wanted to read about the Kidaa stuff, which I never would have expected starting out with these series, but the rest of the storylines just aren't doing it for me anymore.
I don't like the relationship Dressa and Lesander have anymore, because it used to be light and fun. Now nothing seems light and fun in these series. I was rooting for Eti and Imorie, but they don't really convey happiness either. Maja and Zhang didn't really get any screentime. I did enjoy Iata's romance, but that also didn't get a lot of screentime. I'm not rooting for Rhys and Misha, don't really know why. I just didn't feel it, I guess. And I really don't like the fact that I have to be suspicious of everyone and everything, because everything is mysterious and can be a plot twist. That especially goes for Koldari. There are so many hints that he's evil in some way, but there is no basis for that and does not get resolved at all.
I also agree with other reviews that there was a lot of over-explaining and too much happening between conversations. I feel like I got what I needed from a chapter just by reading the dialogs and skipping all of the thought processes and descriptions of even more new characters and places. It's just a bit too much.
Anyway, it's cool to see that everything is finally coming together, but it's just not that fun to read. Everyone character is constantly stressing and doubting themselves. Would be great if there had been some lighter scenes to mix things up or maybe just less stuff happening all around.
