I was struggling with how to rate this book. It's not an in-depth review of the life of JFK or the best written book I ever read. It's like a summary of major events in the life of JFK with very simple explanations of major events - ex. Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile Crisis.

I'm rating it a "4" since for this non-history person, it was the first time I understood what the Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile Crisis, etc. were all about. The author explained the key facts in a simple really easy to understand format. At the end of each chapter there was a short quiz which I enjoyed - it helped me make sure I understood what I was reading. It was like I had an excellent teacher or tutor helping me prepare for an exam and they boiled everything down to just the most important things I needed to know. I really don't want to read a 500 page history book about this time period. I was surprised how much I enjoyed and understood this summary of the time period.

I recommend this book for students, young adults, and non-history buffs of all ages. It is not a book I would recommend for hard core history lovers - they would probably want a more in-depth study of the topic. I had two questions in my mind after reading it - (1) who wrote the book and what were his credentials? (2) were there were other points of view on some of the events presented? The author is listed as "higher read." A look at their website revealed that "doctors, lawyers, writers, and college professors contribute to the curriculum". I always like to know the background of the person writing the book I'm reading since it can influence the opinions offered. It did read like something a really good teacher would have prepared. As a reader, I think you have to take this book as a "summary" and read other more in-depth books to gain other perspectives and a fuller understanding of the time period.

I would definitely read another one of the Higher Read books. It's a quick read and I learned a lot reading this one! PS It also was free - via kindle unlimited - which is a plus!

A short, concise, easy to read chronicle of the life of JFK. I wish all history books were this short and engaging. It wasn't overbearing and tedious with information but a well written overview of his life and the contributions he made. It held my attention throughout the book and it did not jump around which was good.

Short yet informative story of a great man who made a difference.
Little did the world know that 50 years ago it was his last night on earth.
RIP, JFK.

I found this book to be a helpful overview of Kennedy's background, life, accomplishments set within the time period that he lived. A good way to put the facts into perspective.
