Okay - first off the cover pulled me in, because of the uniqueness about it. The cover is bright and cute!
Now the story.
The story is about Avery who was abandoned as a baby and the mystery about her birth parents. At night she sings and is known as Baby Stetson. It's after a night of singing that she first meets Lucas!
She helps run the Inn which belongs to her adoptive parents which is where she keeps running in to Lucas (yes please!!) who is a guest at the Inn. He makes her blush and tingle in all the right places!
Someone else arrives at the Inn, who causes turmoil in Avery's life and it's not long before things start getting a bit worrisome.
Lucas takes Avery away for a few days to California, but something there sends her heading back home, heartbroken. But Lucas isn't too far behind her. It's when she arrives back home that things don't really go as planned.
This is a lovely, refreshing read. The author has a way with words and towards the end has even written a song in there - very cool!
This book, although part of a series has a Happily Ever After, but does make you wanting to read the next book in the series to find out what happens to the next person and who he ends up with!
I would recommend this book to friends and family. There is a romantic relationship in the book and some together scenes, but they aren't erotic which I thought I should mention because I know a lot of people don't like books that are too explicit. This is a lovely read and a lovely gentle relationship develops between the two main characters. I have to also say that although not explicit the scene in the kitchen had me hot and bothered!! wow.
Well done Nikki Lynn Barratt on another excellent book!

I received a copy of Baby Stetson by Nikki Lynn Barrett in exchange for an honest review.
Baby Stetson is a story about Avery Callimer. She was adopted by the Callimers and is happy to call them family. For a small town gal who secretly yearns for more, she has lots of things going for her: she’s a talented (and natural) singer, she has great parents, great friends, she’s smart and beautiful. What else could a girl ask for? How about finding out more about your birth parents? And meeting a handsome stranger? Sounds like a wild ride to me!
I found the story to be unique and intriguing. It has a nice mix of drama, mystery, comedy, romance and is an overall good read. There were some twists that I wasn’t expecting, but I think that made it more enjoyable. The ending was great. I felt like everything was well resolved and it was intense at some points, which made it hard to put the book down.
I give it 4 stars. Thank you for the opportunity to read this and I look forward to reading more from Nikki.

Nikki is really getting better with every new book she writes. I loved The Secret Santa Wishing Well and Baby Stetson. Both covers goes well with the books.
I loved the plot and it was easy to follow. I enjoyed the characters of the book. I was kept on the edge of my sit just trying to find out who Lucas was working for, who Avery's real parents were and who is trying to kill her. I like the way that Avery got her nickname and I can understand why she hates to tell the story behind it.
The romance and suspense evened out each other and brought more to the story. Love when a story does that.
So if you want to try a new author out I recommend you read both of Nikki's books.

I just finished Baby Stetson by Nikki Lynn Barrett. I truly enjoyed the mystery surrounding this endearing story of secrets, family, forgiveness, and love. I kept guessing and second guessing on how it was going to play out and wondering if I had all the characters pegged correctly.
I thought it was very unique how Avery ended up being adopted by her parents, and I loved their bond. Avery is one of those heroine's you instantly like.
And then there is Lucas. Mysterious, caring, and hiding a tortured past. My kind of hero.
I liked the variety of characters in this story. They each brought something special to the story and made for an interesting read.

finally finished. I know this book received almost all 4 & 5 stars but I found it soo tedious and over the top. Avery acted more like 20 yr old than a 30 yr old. Lucas wasn't much better. definitely won't be reading any more of this series

Really loved the character development and inner monologue. Helps you settle right into the characters. Great plot that wasn't predictable. Full of romance, suspense and emotion. Would definitely recommend as a great read! Can't wait to read the next one on Jameson!!

This is a cute story with just enough danger and mystery to keep you glued to the pages to find out what happens. The chemistry between Avery and Lucas was sizzling. Even the secondary characters had me wanting to read their HEA, like Jameson. I'm looking forward to more books from this writer.

I stumbled upon Nikki Lynn Barrett quite by accident a couple of weeks ago because the title of the second book of the Love and Music in Texas, The Melody In My Head. After chatting with her, we realized that our books had a lot in common. It's about music, dreams of success, love, family, secrets... and much much more. Intrigued, I bought the book.
Once again, I skipped the blurb. It's disease, I know, I'll read the one for the next review.
Baby Stetson or Avery is a 32 year old singer with quite the baggage. I just loved the fact that she was my age. So refreshing... She meets Lucas Bennett on her birthday because that's where it's at and he makes her baggage looks like a clutch. But women, we love our broken men, we want to nurse them back to life, we want to heal them...we want to make them feel again. We want to be their savior!
I really like Avery and Lucas together but I wonder if Avery bit more than she could chew with broken Lucas. That's a lot of fixing girl!
I'm looking forward to hear what they have been up to in the second book and meet a Grant boy I didn't create :)
Now why is this not a five Mega Star***** review? Well Nikki, you go Nashville on me in the next books and I'll even steal a few Country Grammys for you!

May 16, 2013Avery was adopted by two wonderful parents after she was left on a door step in a Stetson Hat. She has never lacked in love as her adopted parents love her as if she was their own. She helps them run their inn during the day and does what she loves best at night. Singing in a band is one of her biggest joys in life. She has always wanted to know more about her real parents and wonders why they left her. Some questions she has always wondered may just be answer when her families inn has two new guest. Lucas is the sexy stranger she is so attracted to. He has a job to do even if he is finding it hard to resist wanting Avery. He has always had to do jobs he really doesn't want. The only good thing to come from his job is meeting Avery. Now he wants to be free to love her, that is if he can reveal all the secrets he has hid from her. He must also try and keep her safe as someone seems to be after her.
Avery is so amazing. She has a dream but would doesn't want to leave the parents who have always loved her. She is very talented and passionate about her singing. She seems very loyal and does her best not to hurt anyone. You can also see she still needs deep down to know her past and where she came from. Lucas is so hot and you can see he has a bad past. He feels a need to be loved for who he is no matter what his past may be. When he loves something he goes after it all the way. I love the chemistry between these two. Even when they don't want to be together you can tell it is killing them. Lucas does some stupid things but he also does some sweet things that will melt your heart.
I started this book with the intent to just read a few chapters before I went to sleep. That didn't happen. I stayed up till I finished the whole thing. I loved all the characters and the plot of the story. I kept hoping all through the book things would turn out ok for Avery. You definitely get invested in the characters I will warn you. It's a good thing so no worries. A few things in the book I could see coming like with Lucas. What I wasn't ready for was the ending. I didn't see that coming and the scene with the bad guy was amazing. This book will keep you turning pages to see what happens next. Will Avery and Lucas get together, will she find out who her birth parents are, who is after her and why? These and many more questions kept me enthralled will the book. I eagerly look forward to more in this series and would recommend this to anyone who loves romance, danger and really just a fantastic book!

Baby Stetson is the first book in the Love and Music in Texas series by Nikki Lynn Barrett. I enjoyed the read and the characters. All in all, it wasn’t a bad start to this series.
Avery “Baby Stetson” Callimer had quite a start in life. As an infant she was left on the front steps of a bed and breakfast in a Stetson hat. She was lucky and she never forgot it. The owners of the bed and breakfast were good people. They adopted her and loved her. She has close friends that love her and she’s even the lead singer in a country band. Yet, she’s always wondered about the parents that gave her up.
Lucas Bennett is tired of cleaning up after his employer. She makes messes of her life and then sends Lucas to make it all better. Now, he’s at a bed and breakfast watching over Avery Callimer. He has no idea why exactly he’s watching her he just knows he was told to do it. Things quickly become complicated when Lucas finds he is attracted to Avery and wants more than what he can offer her. He doesn’t want to hurt her, he doesn’t want her affected by the life that he leads, yet he can’t seem to keep his distance.
“Why should you trust me? I’m a jerk, okay? I admit that. But you make me want to make everything right. Before you, if I lost someone’s trust, I wouldn’t care. People lose my trust all the time, and I’ve learned not to trust in return. So, I can’t expect you to. But, you’re different. I care way too much what you think, what you feel.”
This book is a confusing twist of lies, deceit and unnecessary secrets. I’m not a huge fan of trying to figure out what is going on behind the scenes. I prefer my characters to not be their own worst enemies, but Ms. Barrett did a good job at wrapping it all up in the end, so it was tolerable.
I definitely will be reading the next book in the series. I’m really curious if she is going to go more towards the romance side with it or make it another book of intrigue. Can’t wait!

Baby Stetson is another book that features a couple you just want to cheer for, despite all the obstacles in the way. Avery is an adopted Texas girl, singing in her country band, working in her parents inn and dreaming of a life on the Nashville stages.
Avery also struggles with a past full of holes. She earns the nickname, Baby Stetson because she was an abandoned baby discovered in a cowboy hat. She longs to know the world from which she came, but fears hurting her adoptive parents. Her parents have a heart of gold, and want to see Avery fly, even though she's afraid.
Suddenly, quiet, quaint Harmony's Echo is full of drama. A mysterious man named Lucas threatens to run away with Avery's heart. A man named Rodney shows up claiming to be her father. Avery begins to recieve anonymous messages asking her to be safe and warning her against Rodney. Also, her sister shows up with a basket full of issues. If that weren't enough, her mom starts showing signs of an illness.
Avery and Lucas have it packed in against them, but the sparks are undeniable. It was fun to watch them untangle their web and take a chance on love. One of the things I loved most about Barrett's work was that her book felt so real. At times, it felt more like reading Avery's journal than a novel. I loved all the insight into their life.

Baby Stetson is the first novel in Nikki Lynn Barrett's Love ane Music in Texas Series. It is also the first book I have read by her. I have to say she is an awesome author who is adept at drawing emotions out of the reader. Her books are surrounded with music, and southern charm. Definitely good reads
In Baby Stetson you meet Avery (Baby Stetson) Callimer who is the lead singer of the band called Baby Stetson. She is a girl who is unsure of her past and isn't sure she can move on in to her future without knowing where she comes from. Avery is a well written character, though she has some hang ups about life she isn't one of those whiney unsure female main characters. She seems more of the alpha than the male character in this book.
You also meet Lucas Bennett, who is sexy, mysterious and brooding, he is a new comer to Harmony's Echo, TX and noone is entirely sure why he is there. Sent to this tiny town by his "employer" to keep an eye on someone to make sure nothing bad happens to her. Well he didn't anticipate the desire he feels for Avery, and ends up falling for her. Only problem is that Lucas is the whiney, wishy-washy main character, he seems to need constant reassurance, which is ok i guess because it comes from his past and not being used to having feelings for anyone.
Between this searing love story developing and the bit of mystery added to spice things up it is a book that I couldn't put down. I will definitely be reading more books by Nikki in the future! :)

I have been a fan of contemporary romance since I was actually allowed read romance. Baby Stetson is a book that I am so glad that I was able to get my hands on.

This could be a stand alone book but book 2, The Melody in My Head is definitely must read that has more of Avery and Lucas.

Nikki reminds me of some of my favorite authors that I couldn't wait to get my hands on the print books. This could be a stand alone book but book 2, The Melody in My Head is definitely must read that has more of Avery and Lucas.

I cannot say enough about this book, it was fantastic. The characters are so real and down to earth. I must admit that the cover grabbed me and I had to read it, and I certainly was not disappointed. Avery Callimer, is a happy, strong, smart, beautiful and talented young woman. She works at her parents Inn and also is the lead singer in a band. The only thing missing from her life, is the answers to why she was left on the doorsteps of the Inn, wearing a stetson hat. She is totally happy with her adopted parents, but just wants to know why her birth parents did not want her. She was nicknamed Baby Stetson, and chose that name for her band. She lives in a small Texas town, and when a sexy stranger, Lucas Bennett comes to town, the attraction between the two is immediate. Lucas cannot tell her why he is in town, and he tries his best not to get close to Avery, but that doesn't work out so well for him. Between the secrets that Lucas cannot share, and another stranger that comes to town, Avery's life is about to be turned upside down. Can these two get past the secrets of their past and find a happy ever after? You will have to read the book to find out. If you love romance with a little twist of suspense thrown in, great secondary characters, and a great story line, you will love this book.

Me being a big of the show Nashville – you could say I have been digging these country romances these days and Baby Stetson has a perfect mix of Romance, Suspense and Drama to make for a real fun read for any fans of the tv hit show.
Avery is our heroine she is a pint sized spark plug with little sass in her 2 step and boy she is going to need it after getting involved in some full on drama within in this book and with Lucas, as her hot sexy leading man, maybe we can a show made of this book.
I am going to be honest and say that most times it a bit long and I would have loved just a little more dialogue between the characters, but other than that I really did enjoy reading this book and if you are looking for a Country Queen and a Broody and some Channel Drama I would say you so need to quickly grab Baby Stetson. And it’s free from Amazon for a limited time I think. So go now and grab it would you.

Baby Stetson is the story of Avery (Baby Stetson) and Lucas. The two have their own pasts that keep them from trusting one another. My first thought was that fate brought them together, but you quickly learn fate had nothing to do with it. Nikki Lynn Barrett does a fabulous job of bringing a sweet story of girl’s love for the people who took her in as their own, and fueling it with intrigue by giving it a good dose of mystery.
Oh, and let’s not forget the steam! The attraction between Avery and Lucas is undeniable. It’s so intense it creates a bond strong enough to break down all of the barriers of their pasts, allowing them to explore a new level of happiness, physically as well as emotionally.

This book has a good storyline, but could have been so much better. Avery and Lucas are both in their thirties, but talk and act as though they are in their teens. A lot of the speech in the book did not flow well, over-polite and over-explained, not very real. I found it uncomfortable. And all the hinting early in the book that Lucas was there for a purpose was unnecessary, after his first couple of meetings with Avery no more hints were really required. The best bit of the book is when Avery is taken to meet her birth mother, her nervousness is well written.
That being said I did want to know how it all panned out, so it merits two stars.

This was a very well written book with great characters and a great story. It had a very good balance of romance, suspense and action. It is a page turner, with a good plot that keeps you guessing about all the characters true stories and their motives. Avery and Lucas is a lovely couple with great chemistry. They had some ups and downs on their way to their, albeit a little bit rushed, happily ever after.

What a fun and beautiful read! Just what I expect from Nikki! Avery was abandoned on the doorstep and has always wanted to know about her past. Nikki has a way of bringing you into a story. I love that Avery is a singer and feels as passionately as she does. I am not a huge fan of angsty drama and there were a few parts that reminded me of that. This is a sweet romance with some suspense and thrills wrapped up in it. I expect to see more great reads from this author and can’t wait to see what comes next.

I just finished this book and I really liked it. I laughed and cried. Anyone that has been adopted needs to read this heartwarming story about both love and forgiveness. It really pulled at my heartstrings. Now I can't wait to read about Jameson! Nikki Lynn Barrett did a really excellent job of involving me in the story and I liked the plot twists and turns. It kept me engaged from cover to cover.

Wow. I loved this book. It had my heart soaring in all directions. Lucas is a tough, uncaring, untrustworthy man the beginning because of his past. Avery was the adopted child that was abandoned at a few days old, living the life of the innocent. When their world's collided, everything went up in the air for both of them. There are a lot of twists and turns along their journey and neither of them know if it will work or not. This is a must read!

This was my first book by Nikki and I was pleasantly surprised. A sweet love story mixed with a little suspense kept me on my toes, and leaves me wondering about what will happen in the other stories. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

This is a good book that has betrayal, suspense, and romance. I loved Avery and her personality. She is so kind and loving. I felt bad that she was adopted and didn’t know who her parents were. I can’t blame her for wanting to know who her biological parents are even though she loved her adopted parents very much. Lucas is sent by Avery’s biological mother to get information on her. Poor Lucas has no idea that Avery is the biological daughter of the woman who sent him. Lucas has had a hard life and never has felt love. I was so glad to see how Avery broke down his walls and showed him love. Unfortunately there are secrets kept that will hurt Lucas’ relationship with Avery when it comes out. There is also someone who wants to hurt Avery, Avery’s mother and Lucas. This book has so many interesting things happening, I didn’t want to put the book down. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I strongly encourage you to read the book.

Avery is a abandoned baby who was found in a Stetson which is how she came about the nick name Baby Stetson, she is a singer and her band is called Baby Stetson. Her adopted parents are so wonderful and have always loved her, but Avery feels like something is missing, she wants to know the day she was born, she wants to know who her biological parents are. Avery gets a letter from her bio father and he wants to meet her as he just found out about her from her bio mother, he comes to the inn to meet her but is unable to tell her about her bio mother as he has signed confidentially papers in regard to her identity. Lucas is a stranger that comes to the inn and falls for Avery but has secrets. Their relationship is up and down with all the secrets. This book has suspense as well as a love story and you do not just fall in love with Lucas and Avery, the other characters who will be getting there story in future books. I cannot wait as Nikki has said she will be letting us know how Lucas and Avery are doing through out the series.

Avery and Lucas are a couple you can root for right from the beginning. There were a lot of twists and turns in the plot (with secrets from their past, no spoilers here!) that keep you turning the pages. I also loved the small town of Harmony’s Echo and look forward to reading the stories of the secondary characters, especially Jameson. It’s a story that lifts you up and makes you believe in the power of love.
