Kael Saunders is a professional hitman. Angel is an 18-year-old who had the misfortune of being the sole witness to the assassination of his bad-tempered stepfather, an arms dealer working with the Bosnians. Kael really shouldn’t let the boy live, but Angel needs a Daddy and Kael is quite taken with Angel despite the fact he is not his type at all. They have hot sex while Angel’s stepdad’s corpse is cooling downstairs and then take a first-class flight to London.

This is just the beginning of a weird, unbalanced relationship where somehow, Angel and Kael learn to work together to meet each other’s needs. Kael is tough and ruthless, having grown up with a single mom. Though well educated, he’s had to defend himself from those who mocked his poverty. He’s in control of his own life, and he’s accustomed to being obeyed. Angel, on the other hand, retains his sweetness and innocence despite being abandoned by his mother. For a long time he’s dreamed about finding the Daddy who will love, cherish, and guide him.

This was a fun, kinky, suspenseful and intense story. Despite its flaws, I greedily gobbled it up.

The good stuff

I found Kael a rather fascinating character. Though he is a remorseless killer, he must confront his inner demons in order to be the Daddy that Angel needs. His neatness and cleanliness, which is an asset on the job, carries over to his home life and borders on pathological. Angel, a typical teenager in certain ways, manages to disrupt Kael’s sense of order and throws him off balance. I loved their conflicts and Kael’s loss of control when it comes to Angel. It made him more human.

Ever since the death of Kael’s friend, Misha, he planned to keep a written journal of his life. I love these brief interludes that provided insight into Kael’s behavior and showed glimpses of his past.

Kael’s complicated, contentious relationship with his boss, Stephen Conran, is one of the best parts of this story. These men share a history, as we learn from Kael’s journal.

The sex – raw, steamy, passionate and intense, especially the scenes in the dungeon.

The annoying stuff

Angel lied about being 20. He’s actually 18. Many times I thought he was 13 or even younger. He throws tantrums, he’s defiant, he lies, he cries, and he has a “blankie” that Kael rightfully threw in the dumpster. Yet he lectures Kael about his own psychological shortcomings. His behavior was annoyingly inconsistent.

As much as I enjoyed Angel’s growth throughout the story, there were some things that were too unbelievable for me. With no firearms experience, Angel managed to shoot and kill two men from 20 feet away.

The overuse of the word “daddy.”

I’m sad that Loose ID has gone out of business and these books are now out of print. I’m hoping they will be released again so I can gobble up the sequels.

Thanks to Julia from Bookie Nookie's Erotic Lending Group for lending this to me.

This book deals with a BDSM kink that isn’t always popular with fans. It’s the Daddy kink and while BDSM fans may not mind it, the problematic characterization could also be an issue. Unfortunately Angel acts like a VERY immature child, which makes his Daddy dynamic with Kael uncomfortable. It’s not just a kink, Angel alternates between acting like a bratty eight year old and spouting out wizened psychological insight. It’s very uneven and kind of ridiculous while Kael is more evenly portrayed but unlikely to get much sympathy from readers.

Angel’s actions are pretty ridiculous. He sees Kael murder his step father but has no problems jumping into bed with the assassin. Angel frequently has temper tantrums, crying fits, and acts like a brat. He’s worse than a brat though because he’s openly defiant in much more immature ways than teenagers. He even sits in the middle of the street then crying hysterically because he simply wasn’t ready to go home. Who acts like that? Unfortunately I asked that question over and over as Angel bounces between his two characterizations. One moment he's crying and defiant the next he's lecturing Kael on his flaws and insecurities. Neither personality felt honest or appealing and really I felt bad that Kael was dealing with such a brat.

Not that Kael is all warm and loving either. His body count is high and his indiscriminate cruelty isn’t likely to win readers over. I personally didn’t mind this so much – after all he’s a cold blooded assassin – but I just couldn’t understand why he put up with Angel’s antics so much. Their BDSM play is way too advanced for the novice Angel is and locking Angel in a dog cage while Kael leaves for more than a day is more than ridiculous and dangerous, it’s ludicrous. So unfortunately there are numerous issues and problems that are may discomfort readers. It’s highly reader dependant though so be sure to read several reviews and make up your mind.

I didn’t particularly hate this novel but it’s over the top and ridiculous in many ways. Since it's so over the top, I never got worked up over the antics that forced other readers to turn away or not finish the book. Neither character is particularly likable or interesting to read though. Also their dynamic is weird, though that’s likely to grow as Angel matures (eventually). See for yourself as your mileage may vary.

Freakin' awesome! Smexy kink meets spy thriller and I loved every single character. Seriously, the characters are written so well that I loved everyone of them--even the complete wanker, Conran. The emotion and motivations are so well done that you can't help but empathize with each.

Now granted, this book might totally wig some out with the featured m/m age play, but when I say that it seemed so natural that you couldn't help but understand it--I mean it. This is so out of my reading range and I was blown away.

Now I will try and exercise restraint and not gobble up the sequel--I'm a good girl and will not indulge in gluttony. It is only a click away, hmmm...

These two ARE WHACKADOODLES!

On Baby's Levels of Cray Cray scale™ I'd put Angel and Kael at a 5:

Only you two motherfuckers can be together.

I'm still conflicted about this book. I don't really like either MC but together, I admit, they spark. I guess it's not all that surprising since they meet in a shower less than 5 mins after Kael has killed Angel's arms trafficking stepfather and fucked less than 5 mins after that.

To be frank, everything I liked about this book came with a 'but'. Kael has his moments BUT he's a sociopath. Angel is kinda like a puppy and who doesn't like those? BUT he's also annoying. I like the kink BUT I'm not a huge fan of daddy kink. Boy, am I glad Baby's on vacation otherwise she'd be having a kitten right about now over that admission. I like the storyline BUT it bogs down. See? Conflicted.

Kael's a hired gun for SIS, a covert division of MI6. He was a sociopath long before that and we get acquainted with his deviance through flashbacks. I guess it's good he's putting his skills to semi-productive use assuming SIS's motivations are above board. Big assumption there. He has an anomalous protective reaction towards Angel which throws him and rather than treating him as collateral damage, as was protocol, he takes him home. Once home they easily fall into their roles. Kael is a dominant and Angel's been wishing for a daddy for a long time. Like I said, Kael had his moments. He amused me sometimes and he did sort of redeem himself towards the end, but I could not shake the feeling that he's a sociopath coupled with this whole being "in love" thing.

description
C'mon suspend reality button. You've got to be in here somewhere. WORK!!! DAMN YOU!

It worked in fits and starts. They'd be rolling along, taking me with them and then it would creep in… the thought… the 'he's going to fuck you in the drive thru in the end, Angel.' We'll see what happens.

Speaking of buttons, this thing hit a whole lot of my kink buttons. The actual scenes between them not the daddy stuff. The scenes in the dungeon were divine. They did get a little technical and somewhat repetitive, but I'm willing to overlook that when I'm getting all this other goodness. It switched POVs so we got to experience the scenes from both their perspectives, both of which were detailed and thorough.

description

Angel is… young. So young. He reads young. He acts young. He talks young. He's very exuberant, a motormouth, and gaga over Kael. He's been mooning over Daddy Magazine for some time and thinks Kael is "the most smokin' dude I had ever seen". He does want to please Kael. So much, but GOD DAMN he acts out like a 12 yr old sometimes. This gif reminds me of him.

description

Jesus, kid, calm the fuck down.

But, y'know, cry 2 tears in a bucket, fuck it. If they're happy, who am I to judge?

The action storyline involving the arms trafficking stagnated in the middle but picked up towards the end. I'm fairly certain Angel's hero worship is going to lead him down the assassin path. He's extremely observant and quick so maybe espionage?

I will give credit where credit is due. Fyn Alexander nailed the sociopath to a T and Angel's characterization is well developed too. The writing is solid with decent pacing. I did get bored from time to time, but I was invested in the characters.

I'd kinda like to say that one book was enough, but these two are like a soap. I can't look away. I may really hate myself in the end but I'll be reading the next in the series and probably the third, if I'm being completely honest.

If nothing else, I know the kink will be good.

I had this for months on my currently-reading shelf because I keep forgetting to delete it.

Basically this book was a disappointment from the very beginning. I can't even remember the name of the assassin so I'll just call him that. Assassin, a cold-blooded assassin who kills with ease and has a pathological mind is sent to kill a guy. So Assassin goes and finds this pathetic human being who is legally an adult but in his mind is like 12. Or less. Assassin kills the guy and Angel, the pathetic guy, makes his presence in the house known to the assassin, flees to the bathroom and hides in the shower, with the water running, because is common knowledge that assassins doesn't shower, obviously.

Assassin, completely out of character, decides he likes this little man, has sex with him and then takes home with him, sure guy, he's fixated with Angel and just cannot bring himself to kill him, the poor little thing. Yeah, right, that makes so much sense. Angel's character also makes A LOT of sense because he just saw Assassin kill a person in front of him but he decides that he completely trust him, at least after having sex with him (and he was a virgin, obviously, barely ripe). He also trust Assassin to do a fisting to him on his second time, adding some bondage and sensory deprivation, because trust and boundaries were clearly defined after a few hours. PLEASE, tell me more about how this book makes sense, this is so very interesting!

My mind is blurry because I was reading this piece of literature months ago, but I do remember Angel throwing tantrums as in: running away from Assassin, throwing himself to the ground once re-captured, in a PUBLIC park, crying, screaming and demanding things done the way he wants, and that apparently wasn't excuse enough for Assassin to finally kill him, as his character blurb may have suggested. Angel has a blanket that he's has since he is was a toddler and Assassin bins it, causing yet another crying fit and so Assassin dives into the rubbish because... I'm not sure, he says he's fixated with Angel but frankly, I couldn't care less if he does or not. None of the MC were interesting/coherent/smart enough to keep my attention, I just keep rolling my eyes and finding everything so very stupid, starting with this pseudo man - most likely little kid, Angel.

This one's more 4.5 stars, but I like to round up.

I really enjoyed the progression of Kael and Angel's relationship, and I loved how focused this book was on the relationship and characters. Sure, there is action and suspense, but I felt the book was very character driven vs action/suspense driven, and I loved that about it. I wanted to hug Angel so many times throughout the book, and I felt the author did a great job making him a believable 18 yr old. He's impulsive sometimes, insecure yet strong, and truly just wants Kael to love him.

What didn't quite work for me - I haven't read a book before where one hero wants a Daddy, and it threw me a bit. By about a 1/3 into the book, I got good at just skipping that word when I saw it on the page. The Daddy storyline was significant to both characters, and I understood why it was significant, why it's different than 'Sir', and I liked how it was used to show the progression and changes in their relationship. Still...I've found I greatly prefer characters who call another Sir or Master over Daddy. There were also a few squick points in this book, but I just skimmed over them. With BDSM, every reader has their own squick points and those don't always match the characters' preferences. So as long as they jive with the characters and are tastefully done, I don't let them distract from my enjoyment of the book. I will say, it's damn lucky Angel has an amazing memory else I would have been more than pissed at Kael at one point.

I really adored this book. I intended to simply start it and read it off and on as time permitted, but it totally sucked me in. Kael and Angel are a great couple and perfect for each other. I don't think anyone but Angel could have captured Kael's heart.

2.5 stars I feel like I wanted to like this so much more than I did. I was hoping for something like Zero at the Bone with a BDSM twist, but unfortunately there were a few things that kept me from getting too attached to these characters.

A main problem for me was that even though Angel is supposedly 18 he acts more like 8. He is extremely immature and it shows up in a lot of ways including temper tantrums and it did get a little annoying. Secondly, given how inexperienced Angel was, it seemed like things progressed way too fast. Despite Angel's willingness there were some things that Kael should have been responsible with that broke some BDSM boundaries , that were kind of unacceptable.

I didn't have as much of a problem with Kael as a character because he is what he is, but some of his behavior did bother me. A lot of the sex scenes were almost clinical and kind of emotionless from his side, even though he was into it. I would have liked a little more clarification on the rules of their relationship at the end. Can Kael just do whatever he wants? Is it OK only if Angel watches? Did they even talk about this?!

This will vary depending on the reader, I don't mind some Daddy-kink, but this was just a little too much for me. Maybe it seems prude to say you should keep it in the bedroom, but I just think it's super weird for Angel to call him "Daddy" in front of Kael's mother. I guess that's part of the 24/7 relationship, but I have a little bit of a hard time relating to that and it just felt like acting some of the times instead of natural.

Just on a basic plot level, some things seemed off. I can suspend reality on how they met cuz I guess that's kind of sexy. But Kael is supposedly a super good super secret agent... yet despite acknowledging that CCTV would have caught their pics and knowing Angel used the Starbucks internet and a bunch of other things, he still just chilled at his house with Angel. And I don't care how careful you are about wearing gloves and using a condom, I think it's pretty unprofessional of an assassin to fuck his victim first (I know that sounds funny, but really!) So much unnecessary risk; just get in, do the hit, and get out!

I have mixed thoughts about this book. I liked Angel. I know why he was naive and immature at times. He was sheltered and unloved for all of his life and that would fuck up just about anyone. Even his bitch of the mother who he thought loved him, didn't give a shit whether he lived or died. His only friend was the freakin' housekeeper so how could be be a emotionally well balanced person? His innocence was cute and he is the reason I continued to read this book.
Now..I did not like Kael that much at all. Yes I know that he is an assassin and his methods of fucking his marks before he kills them was slightly understandable. I did like how he took Angel under his wing but that's about it.
I have a big assed problem with him fisting Angel within 2 days of their meeting. Angel had just had sex for the first time and then suddenly he's ordered to be given an enema and fisted? What the hell?
OUCH!
I also hated that while Kael does his Dom play with whateverthehellhisname was he encouraged Angel to watch. Might as well be a menage in my opinion. I HATED THAT.
I know Kael will not be close to faithful to Angel in the future and since I want my main heros to be exclusive it ruined it for me.
I really like D/s books but I didn't like this one.
I'm giving it 3 stars because I liked Angel.

Angel 3 stars
Kael 0 stars

I've only read a few m/f daddy books and didn't think much of them, but lots of friends loved this and I did too, so I guess it's the m/f aspect I don't much care for.

Angel could be so grown-up on one hand, but could turn on a dime and be an immature 18-yo in the next second. But this gives him and Kael room to grow in the series and he's changed Kael's life so much in a short time. Kael's last sentence of the book was powerful:

“I had no idea how lonely I was until I wasn't lonely anymore.”

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/4855...

I look forward to the rest of the series, finding out more of their backstories and what makes them tick, Kael especially. Lots of hot sexin'.

I love BDSM, but this is the first one I've read that involves the Daddy kink, and I found that it did not appeal to me at all.

Angel is so sweet and innocent, and I really wanted to like him, but his child-like behavior was such a turn-off. And while I did find Kael to be a fascinating character, the way he treated Angel was just too cold for my liking. I'm sure the relationship must change later on in the story, but at about 50-some pages in, I just couldn't read any more. I wasn't enjoying anything about the story, the characters or their relationship.

In another story (with different characters, dialogue, emotions, etc.) the sex scenes could have been pretty hot. But in this one they just seemed so emotionless...and very sad (and unrealistic) with regards to Angel. He's a virgin, and his first ever penetration is having 4 fingers jammed into his ass in the span of 10 seconds or less? His first blow-job "lesson" includes having his air cut off? And his second penetration is a fisting? Holy gods. *jaw drop* Fisting is a kink that I love reading about, and in pretty much every story I've come across that includes it, the scene was very intimate, loving, and emotionally charged. But in this one it just left me cold.

Like I said before, I'm guessing that the relationship changes later on, but everything I read (up to the point where I gave up) just felt like cold, emotionless sex. I wouldn't even call it erotica because the sex scenes alone didn't even do anything for me.

Technically, the writing wasn't bad. It was just everything else that I had an issue with... :P

The first few chapters of this book were genius. It had the potential to hit one of my larger guilty pleasure buttons: big, ruthless sociopath with an interesting job description and the scrappy younger guy he acquires in suspicious circumstances; then the kinky, tumultuous relationship they develop (okay, I think I just described the plot of the vastly superior Stockholm Syndrome and this book can only suffer in the comparison). Anyway, at that point I was prepared to love it, but then Angel happened. From his stupid name to his stupid hair to his infantilism, I hated him. I was actually intrigued by Kael, he had massive potential as a BAMF, but the character of Angel was just horrific. First of all, the daddy stuff was just ick (but okay, I knew this going in and I was prepared to overlook it) but Angel, who is 18, spoke and acted like an 8-year-old. If I met him in real life I would seriously consider having him evaluated for developmental delay. He actually says the words "stop treating me like a kid", and it was all I could do to not hurl my kindle across the room with a shout of "then stop acting like a fucking child!". The daddy, daddy, daddy in every sentence eventually became infuriating and this book degenerated into awful sticky sap pretty quickly. I'm giving it 2 stars, and not 1 because Kael was awesome and I really enjoyed the diary entries about his past. I reckon I'll read on, maybe Angel will die in freak accident and then I can actually enjoy the series.

2nd Attempt Review 19Mar2020: So, one of my GR resolutions was to try to read one of the books from my DNF shelf...and I picked this one since it fit 2 challenges as well.

My plan for getting past where I left off last time was a matter of just...well, just ignoring it. Only, yeah, that didn't work because Stephen is more than just a throw-away/relatively unimportant side character and that whole power dynamic comes back into play in a BIG way. A scene which, oddly enough, read as more "intimate" than most of the the Angel/Kael scenes that came before. What I mean is that it was more introspective and at that point it felt like the previous sex scenes were just cursory. I mean, I can handwave away that the second sex scene (as well as Angel's second sexual encounter) was to jump ahead to fisting; but Kael said that such an act was deeply personal and intimate to him and yet there was little by way of emotional connection for it. Not necessarily to Angel since he hadn't fallen in love yet, but even within himself to "connect" to it.

But it didn't have any glaring editing mistakes, had an interesting - if expecting - dramatic arc...and I do have to give credit for Kael's emotional/character development. Well, as much as can be expected in a psychopath. Now, if he wasn't so perfect at everything. *eyeroll*

Can't say I'm chomping at the bit to read any more in the series...I might give the second one a whirl if there's a dark/assassin challenge category (provided I can't find one that I'm more excited to read instead).

At first I thought I would be turned off by the relationship between Daddy (Kael) and Angel but as the story developed so did my love for these two and their relationship. Kael is not a mean or abusive Dom but one who overcomes a lot of inner conflict to find that he has fallen in love with his waif of a sub. Angel simply cries out to be loved--having been tossed away by an uncaring mother and set adrift emotionally to find his way in the world. I found myself compelled to read on and was rewarded for doing to--a great story--satisfying in many ways and left me wanting more--I am eager to read the sequel.

Read this all for little ole me and not the blog. My daddy kink got a work out in the book. It has it all - daddy, boy, sex, assassin, heartless moments, edgy moments, BDSM, significant age difference, and it got my reader-passion up. The writing was sharp and concise, which fits Kael so damn well, nasty non-communicative bastard that he is....bless him. Moving right along to book #2.

First things first, thought I don't exactly find reading daddy kinks exactly panty ripping, it doesn't repel me enough to be counted as 'out of my comfort range'.

However, in saying that, I am actually kind of rethinking that now that I've read this. It was so... *shudder*. All I'm going to say is, how the fuck can you (poo) in front of someone and still see them the same way? Hypothetically, if I were to ask you to (poo) in front of me and we were dating, and you did, and then I said "Nope, you ain't wipin your ass. Jump in the shower, I'll wash it for you." Would you dump me? Or at least protest? I mean, I would dump me.

Then again, it's all about preferences I suppose. But all I can imagine is this brown shit trailing down my leg and dirtying the shower water.

Also, can I ask you, when you go to (poo) do you usually clean your ass after or before you flush?

I don't know why no one mentioned the shit play in their review, actually, and I'm actually very close to believing that entire scene wrong (I've been sick so I'm just lazing around and reading half heartedly).

Another thing I think is appropriate to mention, is how angel leapt into Kael's arms two seconds after the man killed someone (even if it was someone Angel hated). This fool just watched a man kill his stepfather, and the moment that man opened his goddamn arms it was like Angel thought that the opening of his arms was like the gates of heaven were opening of something, when really, it's more like the gates of hell. YOU FOOL.

Anyway apart from the shitting and inappropriate leaping:
-plot was so and so
-romance was shallow and a bit unbelievable
-characters felt unrealistic

Anyway, this book made for an.. Interesting read. (In a good way, this is meant to be a positive point).

A surprisingly decent read that exceeded my expectations. I expected this book to be one of those erotica-romance novels where the entire plot is actually a plot device and an excuse for sex. In many ways, this book is that. Decent writing and exploration of the characters managed to elevate it from PWP status, making it more like porn with a little plot.

Some problems I had with the book:

1. Kael clearly lives in a world where condoms never break. How else would it explain his foolhardy preoccupation with having sex with men he's about to kill? All it takes is one broken condom and his career would be gone. This sent the message that he's a risk taker clear and loud, alright.

2. Judging from Conran's comments, Kael's been making a habit of having sex with his targets. Let's assume that in the sexist world of high-powered espionage, that most of his targets are male. How many of those, statistically, would be gay? How many of those who are gay, would be willing to have sex with a total stranger? The world according to this book is clearly a gayer one than the one we live in.

3. MI6 must be different from every politically correct institution out there, in that they let their charges get away with what is clearly about-to-die-philia even when it means they're jeopardizing their mission and making more of a mess for their cleaners.

4. A lot of the plot went unexplained. Why did the cleaners fail to show up?

5. Why did the Bosnians kidnap Angel? Why Angel and not the 230492497014 American kids out there? If it was somehow due to his connection with Sven, then it was never explained properly, and they never mentioned revenge or even firearms. They just wanted money, which makes Angel a really bad choice.

6. Everyone wants to have sex with Kael. No, I mean seriously. Everybody does. All the waiters, random airplane stewards, his boss, his childhood friend... They all want to have sex with him. I feel almost sorry for Angel. The only person who wants to have sex with him is Kael.

7. Kael and Angels are almost Stus in their abilities. I found it hard to believe that Angel could shoot two men dead at his first try. I'm pretty sure guns are not supposed to be that accurate, especially in the hands of someone who's never shot them before. The both of them read a lot like a cross between Hitman, Holmes and James Bond, with homosexuality and BDSM added on as sprinkles.

I mean, really... A nose that can pick a blanket out of a garbage bin? It's not enough that Kael speaks 950 languages, kills people like fleas, is an implied genius, never failed a mission, and is drop-dead gorgeous - he has a built-in Infrared vision and a nose like a bloodhound too? Very, very, realistic.

And don't even get me started on Angel's reaction to things. Dead step-dad, and what does he do? Jump right into bed with his killer. I'm not sure if men are even supposed to be able to get it up under that kind of stress. And as for the rest-- No, just don't get me started on it.

Still, for all its flaws, I (for some inexplicable reason) liked it. As long as you don't think too much about it and suspend your disbelief, you'll get a killer-and-innocent romance story with just enough action to make it exciting. Realism not included with product.

This book is so ridiculous, I don't think I can make myself read another word. It's not even trying to be believable in any way. It's not very well written, and the dialogue is...pretty bad. It's the book equivalent of a bad porno.

Here are some examples of absurdities I already encountered:
- Kael's handler, who Kael raped at school when they were younger, now wants Kael to fuck him.
- Kael goes to kill a guy, and this guy wants Kael (who he doesn't know and who just shows up randomly at his door) to flog him and fuck him.
- Angel hides terrified in his shower after Kael kills his stepdad, but Kael joins him and Angel immediately trusts him when he says he won't hurt him. He goes immediately into Kael's arms and then wants Kael to fuck him - are you sensing a pattern yet?
- On the plane, Angel gives Kael a hand job, leaving his hand in Kael's pants after. The steward comes over later and this is the point that Kael removes Angel's hand. Apparently this is normal mid-flight behavior, because the steward's only response is to tell Kael that Angel is a lucky boy, oh and then ask Kael to fuck him. Sigh.

So that's the point I gave up. I just can't suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy this at all.

Re-read- June 15, 2025

Starting over with this series and hoping to finish it this time. I agree with my old review. Angel was young and whiny in the beginning, but he was much better by the end. I would love to see him become part of the SIS and for the next books in the series to have a lot of action and suspense. It was so sweet to see Kael fall in love with Angel. They made a good team.

Original Read- November 18, 2012

I am very excited about the next book in the series. Why? Because Angel was a little annoying in this book and I'm hoping that he matures in the next book. At times he was smart and clever, but then he would go and do, or say, something stupid and I wanted to hit him! I honestly don't know how Kael puts up with him.

I love Kael. Kael is excellent at his job with the Secret Intelligence Service. The scenes where he is 'working' were suspenseful and exciting. I also loved the BDSM. This series of books has the potential to be James Bond, with a lovely M/M romance and BDSM thrown in. Everything that this heart desires!

Off to a great start with the first book in the Angel and the Assassin series! Kael is a cold hearted agent in the Secret Intelligence Service and is sent on a job to kill Sven, an arms dealer. However, the murder is witnessed by Angel, the stepson of Sven and Kael knows that he really should do away with the witness. Kael can't bring himself to kill Angel, he feels a connection with the boy and therefore he takes him home.

Angel's been starved of affection for most of his life and wants someone to look after and protect him. Kael has never been in a relationship, he's floundering and doesn't know what to do when he starts to have feelings for Angel. Back home they begin a D/s relationship and Angel soon begins to melt Kael's heart.

I had no idea how lonely I was until I wasn't lonely anymore.

A very enjoyable kinky, M/m, assassin story! The character development and the writing was excellent - I especially loved Kael as the big bad hit man, who's perhaps not that bad after all. There was some disturbing (for me) age play/daddy kink, but it worked for the story. Overall, an intriguing and fun journey with wonderfully unique characters. Would recommend this to any BDSM M/m fan.

Well, working for the British Secret Service involves a lot of killing. It also involves a lot of sex. Of course we know all this thanks to Ian Fleming and James Bond. What I did not know was that it also involved a lot of bondage. BDSM big time. Usually before the killing. Sometimes just for fun in your secret dungeon.

So, big bad assassin for the UK finds that he can’t bring himself to kill a witness to his hit in Cape Cod. For reasons unknown to him (empathy, love—foreign ones to him), he decides to bring young Angel back to London with him. Angel happily beds him and calls him Daddy.

The rest of the book is spent cleaning, playing, showering, playing, killing, playing, threatening, playing, rescuing, playing. Somewhere amongst the sex and killing Kael falls in love. So we end up with a happy Daddy and a happy Boy.

The sex is pretty hot, especially if you like BDSM. There are a couple of vanilla scenes, but not many. Be aware that Angel just turned 18 and that Kael is much older than him.

If any of the following turn you off, avoid this book: BDSM, D/s, Daddy kink, age gap (barely legal), fisting, barebacking, cheating, cages, non-con flashbacks.

This Book Left Me Thoroughly Befuddled (a.k.a. The Book That Screwed My Brain)

I've started this review and deleted it three times because nothing coming out of my brain regarding this book is making and damn sense. Angel and the Assassin has completely thrown me for a loop.

Kael Saunders is a 32 year old government assassin who on one of his jobs is spotted making his kill. Spotted by newly turned 18 year old Angel Gabriel Button. Angel is the stepson of Kael's target. Now, right from the beginning this book is a barrel full of WTF. Instead of killing young Angel, Kael sexes him up and then takes the boy back to London. Oh wait, if that's not WTF-ish enough for you, Kael sexes up the men he plans to kill quite frequently.

I decided pretty early on in the book that I would need to suspend my disbelief...actually I needed to open my mind up enough that if aliens descended and declared that Kael was their leader I would be able to just accept it.

So, here we've got Kael and the super twink Angel at Kael's flat in London. Angel is a virgin with a hardcore daddy kink, a love of leather, a blankie, and a nipple suckling fetish. He's bouncy, he's blond, he's small and slim. Super twink. I wanted to see him as a caricature. I REALLY did but somehow I loved Angel Gabriel Button. Now, I'm not going to lie, Angel is pretty immature. The author gave me jailbait with a daddy kink who at one point was playing on the swings in the playground. There was something so wrong with that picture but still I loved Angel despite the fact that he came off as being younger than 18. This messed with my mind because I wanted to be skeeved out but for some reason I was accepting it. I still don't know why I accepted it, so I can't explain it you all.

Kael. Oh, Kael. A ruthless killer, big bad master, man who once raped someone and who kills dude after fucking them through the mattress or table or wall. I should not have like Kael. I did though. I like Kael a lot. He fought the fact that he cared for and eventually fell in love with this teenager he ended up bringing home with him. This teenager, Angel, who is the EXACT opposite of Kael. EXACT opposite. It was almost ridiculous how different these two men were but somehow it worked.

There were so many things about this story that shouldn't have worked. I should have, in theory, been absolutely done with it at the 5% mark but...I wasn't. I kept reading on like I was hypnotized by the crazy. I WAS! I WAS hypnotized by the crazy and the very strange sweetness of this book that came out of nowhere and smacked me in the face so hard that I was glued to the Kindle app on my iPhone. Because this was sweet. Kael and Angel were made for each other. The daddy kink? Okay. The blankie? Okay. The nipple suckling? Okay. Anything else full of "what the hell is going on here"? Okay. Everything was okay as long as Kael and Angel were together.

So, here I am having finished this book and I have to say...I LOVED IT. I loved it in all of its messed up glory. Messed up. Totally messed up but so full of guilty pleasure gooey goodness.

I loveee hero who is a total jerk and this story had one of the biggest, sweetest and sexiest Jerk of a MC Kael Saunders, MI6 assassin with anal retentiveness.Who goes for a kill has sex with the victim if they want to of course and then kills them...haha. He considers himself a animal, his sniffing out smell, accurate visual in dark and hearing is as good as an animal and he is simply brutal, prefers to kill with a scalpel. On top of that he is a Dom with control issue.Wow...ohh I forgot when he smiles he......his dimples can be seen....I am in love.lust and everything with Kael.
So My Kael...the jerk

Ohhh...one more attribute to his jerkdom,he sleeps with multiple people through out the story.I know I am loony so I love Kael;)

Now about the story,it was good but it wasn't a new plot. Kael goes for a kill and lands himself with a 18 years old twink,Angel.Cheesy I know.Angel has daddy issues and plays around the story calling Kael daddy which sometime got into my nerves. The most irritating part of the story for me is when Angel calls Kael daddy in front of his mom....Give me a break he is only 32 yrs old...I know age doesn't matter and its just a kink but in front of Kael's Mom

I didn't like Angel twink much. And don't have much to say about him.So when he gets kidnapped I didn't feel bad but Kael did and goes after the kidnapper and rescues him. Then all the declaration of love comes and twink Angel ask daddy if he can be like him.How wonderful...*being sarcastic here*never!!!
Now I will go and read the next book of the series you can start with the first if you like.
Sooo...

Loved this one. It was intriguing, a bit disturbing, and always entertaining. Characters were top notch, the story flowed very well, and the sex was damn hot. Kael is quite the imaginative Dom/Master and the thing I liked best about the story was how he handled the BDSM scenes. A tough guy (with a CAPITAL T!) who took care of the sub. He's like the dream Dom in some ways. Very aware of himself, the sub, what was happening. He didn't just take control he was control! That is what made the rest of the story so interesting because his loss of control to Angel was highlighted that much more. I'm not too sure I like Angel much - honestly he seems quite often he might not be the brightest tool in the shed, but with Kael it's just fascinating. Cannot wait to read the next one - already downloaded it and uploaded to the Kindle!

Please, someone tell me that's it's a parody.
That's the only reason this book can exist.
Everything is exaggerated to the extreme, it's ridiculous.
I love Daddy/boy dynamic but in this one I felt a deep malaise.
That's not a sane-safe relation.
The writer give me the impression that he has taken his info about Dom/sub relation and univers in a cheap 3x movies.

Totally not what I was expecting but I really enjoyed it. Very well written, extremely developed characters and an exciting plot. Quite nice and I'll be looking for more by this author.
