Crumbling Walls
Emily I had a good life… a safe life…a quiet life… I had a place to live and food to eat and a bed to sleep in… Books to read, paper to draw on and a friend who didn't mind when I wouldn't answer questions… I didn't realize I also had a hole in my heart and a void in my soul… Until I met Jack… He ran headlong into my walls and broke through them, crumbling them to the ground, seeing the real me and choosing to stay by my side. Jack I had a great life… a loud life… a different life… I lived with my parents and five brothers in a new house in a new neighborhood in a new town… I spent hours on my bike, riding miles at a time… Or, I did, until a quiet girl sitting on her front porch brought me to a screeching halt… And I found something and someone I never knew I needed in the first place... Her name is Emily and she makes me whole. A boy on his bike, a girl on her porch... Not all stories start so simply, but the story of Jack and Emily does.

Can be a 5 star easily if I wanted a perfectly drama free clean read. But I don't. Now, I'm going to rate this for what it's worth to me keeping in mind like I said, extremely clean read. This is a family of eight, all boys. And a young girl who has a secret that was just awful. Their second oldest son forms a friendly relationship with her that eventually turns into more. This would be perfect for someone who wants a straight going story like (Leave it to beaver show) the Cleavers. This family was so respectful, these boys caring and just, I can't even begin. Just nothing like today. The storyline is wonderful, extremely well written, and interesting enough that I wanted to continue on, I wasn't suffering, so I'm going to give it a 3.5 stars and I really don't like giving halves but it's worth higher all in all, if you can understand what I mean.

This is one of the best books I have ever read. It captured my attention from page 1 and could not stop reading until it was done. And I was, I was ready to over and reread it. The only thing I had an issue with was the characters talking about other people without giving you any information who they were talking about. It's was a little frustrating but it was still a fantastic book. I can't wait for the next one. :)

Jack and Emily. Emily and Jack. Crumbling Walls by Laura Strandt is the first in a series of YA romance books. I didn't love this book, but I did like it. The book kicks off really well with two entertaining personalities. Right from the start you can see a truly sizzling chemistry that never fizzles out. The humour and witty dialogue really carried the story a long way. There are moments that show hesitancy from Emily, but this makes for a more interesting read. A few typos, but overall, this a winner and I am seriously convinced that she will write an even better follow up.

Even though this book is targted to a young adult audience, I loved it. This book drew me in and I couldn't put it down. Jack and Emily are both relatable characters who you grow to love. A definite recommend.

I've been on a book slump lately. I started and dropped 3 books not long after starting--this was one of them. I was looking forward to reading this book. I thought it sounded interesting, and like a pretty good read. However, once I got to page 89, it was just not good enough to continue.
I had 2 main problems with this book.
1. The age of the characters. I was VERY confused with the age of the characters. In the beginning of the book they mention that the characters are around 15 years old. Later in the book I believe they said that Jack and Emily were starting their Junior year of high school. So kinda weird, and also the characters acted very young, which kind of ruined the vibe of the book a little. It made it seem a bit TOO cliche, and didn't make a lot of sense to me-- under 16, so quite young kids, dealing with serious situations.
2. My second problem was that it was just weird. I guess there's gonna be a small spoiler here: Emily kept saying she was seeing a bad man in her dreams, and she was scared of Jack's dad... so you get the idea that she thinks Jack's dad is the bad dude in her dreams.
So yea, I don't know if my expectations were just a little too high for this book, but I didn't enjoy what I read. From what I read, the characters and story just seemed quite juvenile

if i had read this in high school, i probably would have made it my entire personality. this probably would have been better if it was in first person, the characters felt so distant. to be fair, i'm definitely not the target demographic.

Sad, but so joyful at the same time. I loved it, and I love the Callaghan family.
