WHAT THE HELL!!! Wait, let me start over...what the hell!! This book was...I...it was...I think...maybe...I DON'T KNOW!! I almost didn't rate this book because I've decided that everyone needs to go through what I just went through! Everything I just went through. It's only fair. Hate it, love it...I don't care. Go through it!

The writing of this book was far from perfect, it could have definitely been better, but my experience was perfect. This book has gotten in my head, imperfections and all, and has consumed my every thought. Did I love this book? Did I hate this book? Was it good? Was it bad? How do I feel?? I DON'T KNOW!! But bottom line...I FEEL!

You might find the beginning to be a little rough around the edges, but going through the beginning is the only way to get to the end; you must get to the end...except it isn't the end. It leaves you broken and plagued by that one question...Why?

I may not know why, I may not even like how I got here, but I am here and I want more! READ ON!

4 HEART BREAKING STARS

OMG!!!! WTF just happened???

My thoughts are so jumbled after this book! Gut wrenching, angsty and tragic.

HOLY MOLY.... WHYYYYYYYYYYYY! I'm completely devastated.

description

NOOOOOOO
NOOOO
NOOOO
NOOOOOOOOOOO

I can't believe it ended like that :o I'm SPEECHLESS.

**Deep Breath** I'm going to try to collect my thoughts for my review. Honestly I'm blown away. The writing in this book was not great but the plot was terrific. If I had to rate my review on the writing, I would give it 3.5 stars but because the plot and the ending was so intense. I'm giving it 4 stars. It sucks because this could have been a 5 star book with a little work. It has so much potential.

"I learned the hard way how every moment of our lives define everything we are and everything we will be. These moments either bind us deeply with reality or sever us from all the ties that bind us to it. In those precious seconds, we decide which path we will choose. The path of life or the path of death ~~ Jay

This is one of those book that's hard to review because the plot is a web that's untangled as you read but I'll try to give you a short synopsis without giving away details.

James aka Jay (this is the heroines name. It's a weird name for a girl but I went with it) is starting her senior year of high school. This was the year that should have been amazing and fun but Jay is being haunted by a devastating secret that's destroying her life. Over the past two years she has severed her friendships with her best friends and broke up with the love of her life. This secret is so bad that Jay doesn't know if she wants to live anymore. She's just existing day to day and waiting for the right moment when she thinks she's going to end it all.

As Jay is trying to move on she's get herself into the CRAZIEST love triangle I have ever read. She gets involved with not just two guys but three!! Boy number one is Kane which I fell in love with immediately. He's sweet and charming, a bit of a bad boy and works at a bar that Jay frequents. They hit it off right away and their chemistry and connection is hot. Boy number two is Rhye. He's a singer in a band and a boy that she has hooked up with and had a relationship with in the past. He's a nice guy and really seems to care for her. Then we have unbelievably adorable and delicious JT, her first love. ((SWOON)) They grew up together, he was her first kiss and their history runs deep. In kindergarten he told her that when they grew up they were going to get married. ((So freaking sweet, double swoon)) He's always known that Jay was it for him and their break up was more than just devastating for him. It ruined his future and he's never recovered. I was pulling for them so damn bad.

This girl was all over the place. She has serious issue and the secret she carries with her is tearing her apart and obliterating her. It's excruciating to see her pain.

I hate the saying, "The truth can set you free". The truth can't set me free. It can f*ck my future fifty ways to Sunday. !!

What else can I say?? not to much more without ruining it for you. There are so many twist's and turns. This is an angsty love triangle book with a serious, serious topic. It's not a easy read at all. It's pretty deep and heavy. I'm in need of the second book. The ending was as you can guess a HOLY SHITBALLS moment. I was floored, completely BLOWN AWAY.

Overall I think I had a bit of a hard time connecting with the characters in the beginning because the writing needed to be more descriptive and more in depth. It was hard to connect completely to the main character even towards the end of the book BUT as I've said the plot and the supporting characters helped me connect more and I really enjoyed and became engrossed in the book. You should absolutely read this if you're thinking about it. My only warning to you would be to have a STACK of tissues waiting because you'll need them :)

A couple of my favorite hot boy quotes:

"I've never burned for a women before and all night, I burned for you." ~~ Kane

" I want your mind, body, and soul. Do you understand what I'm saying, Jay?" ~~ Kane

"Be mine. Be only mine, "He whispers to me. ~~ Kane

"I love you, Jay. I've always loved only you. Please, just love me." ~~ JT

P.S ~~ This is part of a two books series. The second book will be out January 29, 2013.

How can a book end like this????

I am so broken right now!!

This is a story about a girl... A girl who was happy, popular and had her whole future ahead of her....

Then something terrible happens to her... Something that breaks her.... Something that turns her from a stunning happy girl, to a sad girl who sees death as her only end...
The pain consumes her...

She pushes everyone close to her away including her quarterback sweet boyfriend. The man she loved most of her life... JT

Then she meets Kane... It's instant chemistry and he brings some of those walls down she put up...
Handsome with Sexxxxy tats!!

What happens when she lets her past and present collide...?
How does she choose between the men she loves.....?

Will the truth set her free or will it cause more damage??

I don't have anything to start this review off with so I'm just gonna dive in and say it straight...

That applause in the cafeteria (and somewhere else because apparently once is not enough) while everyone looked on as they kiss. Rhye's song. JT's pre-game speech. But mostly it was the applause scenes... good grief, so much cheese to work off my system.

This is the story of Jay, former high school sweetheart, recent skank about town-- or so it seems. Because Jay carries a terrible secret... until 20% in when you pretty much figure out what happened to her. Then there's the three hot guys vying for her love: JT- the ex-boyfriend jock, Rhye - the sexy, brooding musician and Kane - the hot bartender who didn't really get to do any bar tending in this book.

I don't mind much when the plot is predictable and I love the mess of a love.. square as the next NA fan. I'm not even bothered by the editing issues on this one, I've survived worse. What drove me crazy was the characters' logic.

The dialogue was dull. The secondary characters felt like tokens and a lot of the scenes seem gratuitous. The first 75% of the book, all Jay did was run away from every conversation. Nothing gets resolved.

This was supposed to be a quick read but dragged on and on and on for me. But when it was over...

Nicole Reed this is your 5th Star for this book and I am holding it hostage!!!! You may receive this star if you change the current ending and/or have a certain someone be recovering in the hospital in the upcoming sequel to this book, Ruining You. Yes, I was angry and sad by the ending and am now resorting to blackmail.

I was completely captivated by this book I read it one sitting. I loved all of the characters and their support and devotion to James Stevenson, the main character. For the past two years Jay has turned her back on her life. She broke all ties with her friends and boyfriend due to an event that she tries so desperately to forget.

This book had three AMAZING guys who are in love with Jay.

description

Bachelor #1...JT: Jay’s ex-boyfriend, football quarterback, whom she dumped two years ago due to extenuating circumstances. JT would do anything to have Jay back, he loves her with everything he is and is frantic to know what pulled them apart.

” You weren't some girl that I didn't know. You were my world. The reason I smiled every morning when I woke up. I went to bed for the last two years, remembering how you felt in my arms and how your lips tasted. I looked at you and seen my future.”

Bachelor #2...Rhye:School hottie/party boy and lead singer of his local band. Rhye is the typical bad boy who has it bad for Jay to the extent that he can put her feelings above his own. That song he wrote- Wow!

”I fucking love you, Jay. Don’t you know that?”

Bachelor #3...Kane: Kane is the new bartender in town. He is out of high school and works two jobs. Kane isn't looking for a relationship but he just can’t stay away from Jay. He is drawn to her and pursues a relationship with her.

”Jay, my name comes out like a prayer. “Be mine. Be only mine,” he whispers to me.”

This is an intense story, with great characters which had me on the edge of my seat till the very end looking for Jay’s hea. Just when I thought she had it...BAM Jay's world comes crashing down.

Once again, the book was a good read. Unfortunately, I wasn't left in tears but feeling kinda numb and run over.

I just inhaled Ruining Me in one afternoon and now I am sitting here drowning in the emotional wreckage left behind. Wow, wow, wow...I feel speechless and confused about how I feel about it. I was sucked into this world within the first few pages and couldn't be bothered to come up for air. Now a few hours have passed since I finished this book and my heart is still feeling heavy, but I KNOW I really, really liked it. I might love it but can’t decide until the story stops swirling in my head (honestly, it will take a bit to lose these feelings).

I refuse to ruin this experience for anyone so I will not be able to say much. I will say that I enjoyed every minute of this book and was absolutely riveted from the first chapter all the way through to the last page. The emotions involved in this book were messy and complicated. This book doesn’t include characters that self-sabotage their own happiness with miscommunications and stupidity which I found so very refreshing. The author built each character without one taking away from the other (hard to do when a love triangle is involved). Each character is written with depth and although the story is written from our heroine’s POV, I feel I was able to understand the emotions of all four of them.

The author touches on some heavy topics and handles them beautifully, realistically and full of raw intensity. We are left feeling the sadness, anger, fear, hope, heartbreak and regret of what could have been from our characters.

This book is short and the pace is steady & intense with zero fluff/extras. The author was able to weave the past into the story through flashbacks and dreams in just the right amount to help the reader understand the main character’s journey. The last 10% of the book left me with the hairs on my neck standing up with anxiety of what was about to unravel. I wish I could say more, but can’t without ruining it for others. You'll have to trust me and experience it for yourself.

AND A GODDAMN FUCKING CLIFFHANGER!!

GGGAAAHHHH!!!

MY HONEST OPINION

Just like in the last book I read Metamorphosis, Nicole has thrown a massive spanner in the works! Instead of my sweet YA, HEA.
She pulls a J.Sterling in The Perfect Game a Molly McAdams in Taking Chances, a Colleen Hoover in Hopeless and a Lacey Weatherford in Chasing Nikki

And blows my freaking world apart!!

At 97% THAT’S 3% TILL THE END PEOPLE!!

You just don’t see it coming…
 photo bam_zpse1131268.gif

Ok so I knew who the stalker was, I just didn’t see the other stuff happening!
The great thing about it though?!
I ONLY HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK UNTIL THE RELEASE OF RUINING YOU

air hump photo airhump.gif

Thank god I don’t have to wait a year.
I really hope there is only 2 in this series. I don’t know if I can wait a year for another!

I love when stories like this get me so involved and your still thinking about the book 2 days later, Or even as you are reading something else. The way they make you feel. That for me makes it 5 star. It may not be the most beautifully written thing, But if it makes me feel then you have won me over!

So Nicole?

Can’t wait to see what else you’re going to do!

I fell for these characters. Hard and fast.
Jay, Rhye, JT, Cal, Kane, Molly, Reed.

(BR with My Bestie Dee)

 photo 170ddc9d7d4af1a6d84123e0a09d1376_zpse373f55a.jpg

Jay is a High School senior who went through something horribly tragic two years ago. She broke up with her long time boyfriend, J.T., and pushed away her two best-friends, Reed and Molly. Everyone thinks she just turned into a huge stuck up bitch who started whoring around town. But something awful happened to her. So awful that she has never told a soul and she is plagued by nightmares every night.

It was pretty obvious what happened to her and who was the evil doer. Dee and I figured that out pretty early on.

The story seemed a bit amateurishly written and I'm sorry but did this girl have a magical vagina??? It seemed like every guy in town was in love with her and lost all their sense of self respect just to get a chance to be with her. I really didn't care for Jay. She played with the emotions of these guys.

Her first love and high school quarterback,J.T., was still carrying a torch for her. Then there was the token bad boy in school, Rhye, who was the lead singer of a local rock band. And last but not least, Kane, a 22 year old bartender that Jay meets one night and the very next day they meet up, it's like they are both in insta-love. All of these guys followed her around like love sick puppy dogs, taking whatever bits of scraps she threw their way.

It was all a bit corny for my tastes.
And come on now, if something that horrible happened to a girl, I doubt she'd be prancing around in cute and flirty dresses, with her hair all done up, going around town trying to get laid. She's be curled in the fetal position in her bed for god knows how long.

The other thing that irked me was that her parents were NEVER home!!
She was home alone for days on end. They were always out of town. Hello!!!
Someone would have called child protective services on their asses.

That ending!! God Damn!
Can anyone say "TAKING CHANCES"???!!!!
It felt all too familiar! I've read this before!!

Dee and I were looking for the "UGLY CRY" book!
Sadly, this one did not deliver.
I won't be reading the next book and this teaches me to not one click an entire series without having read the first book!

If you want a book that will have you bawling your eyes out, read "WHEN IT RAINS" by Lisa DeJong!! AWESOME book. Cried so hard my eyes were swollen the next day!

*1.5 Everybody is in love with Jay stars**

I'm a very sensitive and emotional person, so from time to time I like to indulge myself in a book that will make me cry. Everyone has been recommending this book for a while saying this was "The Tear-jerker", so my bestie and I decided to grab our chocolate and partake in a little cry fest together. Unfortunately this book was a big disappointment for me, not only didn't I shed one tear, but the female character made me so mad that I had to go and dump a bucket of ice cold water on myself and try to shake the feeling off, but guess what? I'm still mad!!!!

Mad photo: mad photo33.gif

James aka Jay is an eighteen year old girl who has suffered a terrible and traumatic experience that has changed her life forever. The dark episode has made her push everyone who loves out of her life, she dumped her long time boyfriend, and closed off completely to her friends and parents. She now uses sex as a way to gain some control over her life and she has absolutely no hope for her future. There's four different guys who are after her, whether is infatuation, love or sick obsession, this guys keep showing up everywhere she is. I kept thinking as I was reading, what is thisTrue Blood? Is your name Sookie, that all the men in town are in love with you? This just drove me up the wall!!! There were two main contenders in the run to win her heart, and this two guys had absolutely no self respect if you ask me, because they just taking whatever this girl was serving and that's not a sexy quality in a man, I don't think, so no fictional book boyfriends here for me. By the time the really sad ending happened, I was so mad by the way this girl Jay was handling herself, that I wasn't faced by the tragic events happening. There's no way I'll continue to read this story, because this type of female character is just not something I can enjoy in a book.

I have to stop reading heartbreaking books!!
Everytime I promise myself not to cry but I cant help ending up like this.

Jay used to be the girl everyone loved and admired.
She had a successful life , a boyfriend and best fiends.
During her sophomore year something terrible happened and she decided to push all those people who cared about her away.

Now at her senior year she is meeting a new hot tattoed guy Kane but her past wont leave her to live her future .

“Yes, you made me want my future again. The only problem is, he was my future first."

If this book dont make you cry you will definately feel sad in the end.

Speechless... To say this book was intense is an understatement...

I was honestly not sure how to review or rate this book... I don’t know how to feel after reading it. I feel very strongly, just not sure what those feelings are right now. Any book that can make me that much of an emotional wreck gets 5 stars from me!

Jay’s story is heartbreaking. If you are looking for a fluff book, this is not for you. I read it all in one sitting because I had to know what was going to happen. I’m still not sure if I am happy with how things went down Kane, JT, and even Rhye (at times) will hold a special place in your heart.

I don’t want to give too much away, you need to READ THIS FOR YOURSELF! Get the full effect of the book... I am just really relieved that there will be a second book If you are looking for a gut wrenching, emotional read, keep the tissues handy and read away!

OMG , I have so many mixed emotions about this book . I am going to try to put my feelings and what I feel about this book here , BUT bare with me as this is a tough subject area for me with feelings .

"" since it seems your marking your territory , why don't you go ahead and pee on her while you're at it ? <<< that statement right there is truly the only time I laughed during this whole book .

When I started this book I knew there was something Jay that was going to bring out alot of emotions with me. As I read more I started to put the pieces together and figure out why she had shut her self off from everyone around her . Did I expect it to be the person it was in the end who caused her so much pain ?? about half way through I figured it out .

The road that led Jay to where she was was not pretty by any means and She did in my own opinion what she thought was best in the situation and that was to tell no one , to protect those around her by not saying anything about what happened to her. Do I agree with what she did as far as not telling anyone ??? Yes I do 100% , and that is all I will say about that area .

Kane Came into her life at a crazy emotional time and He was truly amazing for doing what he did and how he treated her all the way up to the end . My heart Broke when she turned him away and I truly felt for him , I knew in my heart that he was meant for her .

JT ... I understand a person that loves someone no matter what and truly has a hard time moving on , he really made me feel bad for him in some areas , but in some other areas he really ticked me off .. In the end I knew she wanted to be with him and that broke my heart for Kane . But JT was her first true love and I knew he would get her in the end or so I thought >...... My Heart broke all over again when JT was in the car accident , I truly felt for her and knew she was heading down a dark road again and no hope of turning back .

In the end I am glad that after everything she went through that Kane was the one standing there with her . I knew that once he knew what had happened he would be there right beside her and NEVER leave her side again .

is this the end of Jay and Kane ???? I truly hope not, I hope that Nicole does a follow up story of Jay healing and Kane helping her to do that .

Note to Nicole , this truly was an amazing read and It ripped my heart apart, brought out so many emotions in me , but in the end it healed my heart right back up . thank you for that truly .

If you have not read this Book READ IT , IT IS WORTH IT !!!!!!

For me- this is one of those books that I was not expecting much out of and I thought I had most of it figured out but I really did not and then I was so caught up in the ride that I could not put it down. I would like to give a shout out to the author for making me feel so much and I will be stalking her for more books.

I am also going to give a shout out and share a review from Tough Critic Book Reviews's as she captures the essence of how I feel about this book:

Really liked this...Although I think when 'a certain moment' happened I was probably supposed to have a stronger reaction. Usually if something like this happens in a book I would be utterly devastated, but I just never built a strong enough connection with that character. I loved the other guy, don't want to give any names away as it may spoil it but those who've read it know who I mean. So even though I was upset for Jay and thinking about her pain and what could have been, I just didn't cry because I had my own idea of who she should be with and hopefully the next book will go that way! You should definitely try this book out, the writing isn't amazing but its a really good story if not a little bit too short for my liking, even though there will be a follow up. I feel if we'd have been shown more of Jays relationship with her ex and the growth of this relationship I may have felt differently. A strong 4 stars!

Well, I feel pretty conflicted about this one. There was just SO much drama and angst. Some I understood the point of, and the rest just felt gratuitous. I was going to complain about the love triangle (I know this is a very popular plot device right now, but I'm not a fan.) because up until the very last part of the book, I didn't understand its purpose, but now I get it,

I wish I had realized that this wasn't the end of Jay's story. I really really hate cliffhangers. Overall, it was a good book. I genuinely liked and felt for the charters, though at times it almost felt like there was so much going on, that I almost couldn't process the first thing, before the next came along. Usually, I'd say this would be a novel I was in tears over, but instead I just feel kind of feel battered and numb.

I will however, be anxiously waiting for the next installment,

So, it's 2:00am and I have just finished this book,...there will probably be run on sentences as that is how I am feeling right now. Everytime I tried to put this book down I found myself needing to read more. I literally laid down tonight starting this and have not stopped until I was done.

OMG, I don't k ow how I feel at this moment, speechless, overwhelmed, sad, frustrated, blown away. I need this next book like yesterday. OMG!! This book was a freaking roller coaster. Triangles and bartenders and tattoos and high school and angst and romance and thriller and horror and drama and absolute cliff-f'ing-hanger.

I really don't have enough words right now and like I said above I also have more than enough to say so to sum it up... Just READ THIS BUTTERFLYING BOOK!!

Nooooo it can't end like that!!!! Wow did that really just happen?!?!?!

Wow this book literally broke my heart into millions of pieces. Jay is a very broken girl who had some really horrible things happen to her. I felt so sorry for her. The whole time I was reading this book, I just wanted to reach through my kindle just to give her a hug and tell her not to give up. Man this poor girl couldn't get a break. I was just starting to think things were going to turn out great for her and then "BAM!!!!" it all comes crashing down once again. I really want to read the next book to see what will happen with Jay, but I don't know how much more bad situations I can take. Overall, I really liked this book.

This is the story of James, or Jay, a female with a typical guy's name. Jay is portrayed as being rather promiscuous. If you've ever done research on promiscuous women, you'd have some educated guesses on why she is the way she is.

I'm not sure how to define this mess she's in, but it's more than a triangle. She has three men in her life: JT, the ex who cheated on her; Rhye, a musician she's known forever; Kane, the drop dead gorgeous so hot that she'd spend time in hell with him if he wer the devil.

As I was reading, I was trying to figure out Jay and why she did certain things that (in my opinion) were bad for her and were taking her down the wrong path. But then eventually in the book I learned what happened to her and it all made a lot more sense. Still, I didn't particularly love Jay. JT was probably my least favorite of the three men. Rhye was a pretty decent fellow. But for some reason I really liked Kane. His flirtatious bantering was really cute, arrogant and cocky, but still fun at the same time.

Overall it was a decent read for me and I did like it, but I also found it mostly predictable and not challenging at all.

The dialogue was dull. The secondary characters felt like tokens and a lot of the scenes seem gratuitous. The first 75% of the book, all Jay did was run away from every conversation. Nothing gets resolved.

Later...I can't stop the tears so much to say without giving out spoilers!
From the beginning you know something isn't right with James. Her lost soul , anger, and loneliness pours off the page. Ruining Me is a well written angsty , emotional, loving (yes all three) story that will leave you reeling for freaking days. The use of the dreams to reflect back to what happens to Jay during her sophomore year of high school is captivating and leaves you guessing.
Jay dates JT and ends it then enters Kane along with the angst! The triangle is written so well, I the reader was torn on who to choose. Eventually Jay chooses and I whole heartily agree with her choice, her reasoning written out so well by the author. BUT wait there is more, oh so much more than the angsty triangle. She is torn to finally move forward but can she? How will she?
This book ends on a cliffy but no worries because Ruining You Ruining You (Ruining, #2) by Nicole Reed (book 2) is already out and finishes up the story. I wish I could say more but I can't, oh except for GO READ THIS BOOK!
Have you bought the books yet...huh? What are you waiting for .99!

I enjoyed this short read. There were a couple of editing/grammar issues, but not enough to really annoy me.

Jay has a secret that she doesn't want anyone to know about, so she pushes her friends and boyfriend, JT away and tries to deal by herself. Although do you not know the secret at the beginning, it starts to become fairly obvious what it is and who it involves, but there is still a few questions that slowly get revealed as the story goes on. Then she meets Kane, and starts to feel like she could actually let someone get close. She starts becoming herself again and her friends and ex boyfriend, JT try to reconnect. She lets her guard down and those around her start to guess what her secret is. She has choices to make, who will she choose, will she let them all the way in and will they find out her secret?

I liked the characters, JT is so sweet, Kane is hot and Jay is well, quite messed up - understandably so.

I was actually shocked at the ending and a little upset, but that won't be the same for everybody.
