Arabella Bravo-Calabretti came to Elk Creek, Montana, with a secret to deliver and a job to do. Being a Bravo Royale, she was going to do it right. Before she handed her best friend's darling son, Ben, over to his unwitting father, they would all spend Christmas together. Only then could she be absolutely sure that rancher Preston McCade was ready to be a dad.
Or…was that really the reason Belle was hanging around? She and Preston were practically from different planets, yet the attraction was undeniable. Before long, someone was utterly in love with a rancherand Christmas in Montana was presenting one surprise after another.

Well it was, weird reading about a hero who is not such a charmer with the ladies. The hero is a rancher whose life is turned upside down when the heroine a princess comes into town with her entourage that consists of his eighteen year old son, whom he knows nothing about. The heroine's friend spent a drunken night with the hero and never contacted him and now that she's dead its the heroine's responsibility to contact him. The book was decent, the heroine decides to go all in with him and is so deep that she is willing to live with him on the ranch. The hero meanwhile is afraid of not measuring up but eventually decides to follow his heart.
Here's the thing: when it's a Harlequin romance, you know that it's going to be hard-hitting love at first sight with a happy ending. No great shock when it happens, in other words.
This time, the plot has an honest-to-god princess (Belle, eighth in succession to the throne) who is also a nurse and philanthropist traveling to Montana. Her best friend has died, and left instructions that her son, Ben, be taken to his father, Preston McCade. McCade has no idea that the child exists. Needless to say, this is complicated.
It goes without saying that Belle and Preston are immediately attracted to one another, but there's many a slip between cup and lip as they both worry about how the other will perceive the worlds in which they live.
It was cute, with a side order of "holiday magic" and small-town gossip to help the tale along.
Very good book. Belle has come to Montana to bring Ben to his father who had no idea that he had a son. Belle planned to stay around until she was sure that Preston could handle it and then go home. I really liked both Preston and Belle. Preston was stunned to find out that he was a father. At first he was angry that he hadn't been told, but immediately accepted that Ben was his son. He did not expect to be so attracted to Belle. When Belle and her group moved to the ranch so that he could get to know Ben, he also had the chance to get to know her. Belle rapidly became an important part of his life, but Preston felt it could go nowhere because their lives were so different. Belle was attracted to him also. The more time she spent with him, the more she wanted to be with him. It didn't take long for her to realize that she was in love with him. She knew he had problems with their differences but she wasn't afraid to go after what she wanted. She also knew that she would have a hard time convincing him that a life together was possible. I really liked seeing them together as she showed Preston how to care for Ben. There were some wonderfully heartwarming scenes with Ben and Preston. I also liked the way that Preston was so sensitive to Belle's feelings of loss over the death of her friend, Ben's mother. There was a great secondary romance involving Preston's father and hints of the people involved in the next book in the series. I can't wait!
Another great book by Christine Rimmer, I read it in one day Loved the cast of characters and the story line of the book.
I thought it was sad that Belle's best friend Anne had passed away and Belle was carrying out Anne's last wishes. Anne had met Preston and they had shared a night together. Unfortunately Preston did not know about Ben until after Anne was gone. That's Belles mission now. To let Preston know about Ben and to turn him over to him because he should be with his father.
If you are looking for a book to get lost in and to enjoy check it out. I am glad I did.

I enjoyed this book a lot. A very good story and I loved the characters. I certainly recommend this read!
Arabella, a princesss, arrives in Elk Creek, Montana with a job to do. Preston McCade cannot understnad why a princess would be asking to see him. One look into Bella's eyes and he's asking her out to dinner. She finds herself postponing what she came to Montana to tell him. Ben, her friend's baby, has lost his Mother. He has never known his Dad. There are many relationships that change because Belle brings Ben to Montana to introduce him to his Dad. A wonderful Christmas story of romance, dealing with losses, and lives changed forever
Not a bad story. Just a little boring to me. No big conflict, no angst (and I do love me some angst), and I've never been real big on princess stories. This one was okay. ..just a little bland.
