Starts with grounding lessons in nutrition and heath that are only a little bit out of date in some small aspects.
I'm really liking the menu format, in the first main part of the book (instead of all the appetizers, then all the meats, then all the pastas, etc., as is more common and is in the second main part).
The relatively homey recipes look wonderful, with readily avl. ingredients. Unfortunately, I do not have a food processor or a grill. And most of the recipes that appeal do resemble something I already make well, as it turns out. But I bet lots of people would benefit from at least looking through this for healthy but appetizing ideas.
Do bear in mind that there's lots of meat. But lots of veggies, too. And most dishes are enriched with extra veggies, which is good of course. Use the index. For example, I'm always looking for more ways to use carrots and dried beans, as they're the healthiest & cheapest foods I know of. So I always use the index to make sure I see the beans as used in salads or whatever, and not just in the meatless entrees section.
Carefully skimmed June 2021, probably a three-star reference.
