When a genetically-enhanced band of terrorists overrun a secret weapons facility in Alaska, the fate of America -- and the world -- hangs in the balance. The future lies in the hands of infiltration expert Solid Snake, who must defeat the terrorists or die trying.
Metal Gear Solid, a video game I grew up on and it's probably responsible for me playing video games today.
When I saw this graphic novel based on my favorite video game series, I had to check it out.
First of all there are going to be 2 opinions you hear. One of them from people who have played the video game and the second from people who have not played the video game.
For the people who have played the game: The game is almost exactly the same as the graphic novel. There are some differences, but plot is identical.
For the people who haven't played the game: It's about secret agent Solid Snake. He is sent in to figure out what terrorists are planning to do with a new Metal Gear prototype on the island of Shadow Moses. Shadow Moses was supposed to be used for containing nuclear weapons...Or so everyone thought. Now it's used by a terrorist group lead by Liquid Snake. They want to pentagon to give into their demands for billions of dollars or they will launch a nuke from their walking battle tank known as Metal Gear REX. Then they will sell the models to any other terrorist groups that can afford them. From there you get action scenes, thrilling battles, and strong emotions between the characters that come together.
Overall, it's a great read, and I recommend it to anyone.
This was a lot of fun, and gave a lot of nostalgia. Even though its exactly as the video game, shot for shot, it still was fun to read, and a great reminder of the story of the series. The illustrations, even though they are cool beans as illustrations, they're a bit hard to follow storywise, hard to notice who is speaking to who. That said, it still is a lot of fun.
