Chasing After Infinity
As quick as a flash, he puts me up against the side of the building. My back hits the wall hard, enough to make my ears ring. His body pushes into mine, trapping me between his hands and the bricks. This is a story of two very damaged young adults who are drawn to each other, in a deeply, weirdly intense way. They both have major issues that they have to tackle everyday on top of having to fight this connection between them. And they DO fight it. Physically, emotionally, mentally. Perfect portrayal of high school situations. Yes, high school is exactly like this. I was immersed in their intense world of angst, hatred, love and dependency. Ms Jayne does it so well: the way they react to each other, the way they move, touch, speak, their expressions, their words, their thoughts. It's like I'm right there with them at their lockers, at their cafeteria table, in the quad, on the beach, in their homes, in their cars, on the dance floor, in the changing rooms. Where IS this author? I want inside her head. How is it possible to bring across so MUCH in such an unpolished work?
There are so many emotions flying around in this little story. The hero and heroine don't really "grow". Oh, they get older, the months and then 4 years go by, but basically they stay the same buggered up co dependent people they started out to be. And I loved it. Basically they go through high school trying to deal with their various issues, trying to deal with each other.
Adrian:

“No,” Adrian says into my hair as he pulls me to him until my head is in the crook of his collarbone and I’m inhaling in his scent. “We’re infinity together. Unstoppable.”
Adrian and Avena's story deserves to be told. Properly. Ms Jayne has created two beautifully real protagonists, in their own stunningly violent love hate reality. If this story is cleaned up, it's potential is sky reaching. The author deserves an editor who believes in her, who will help her take this book to its rightful place at the top of the reading charts.
Ms Jayne needs to have this book edited and published by a reputable publishing house because it has HUGE potential. I'm embarrassed to say that I loved this book because the editing is horrendous and the inconsistencies in the plot are ridiculous. But that's the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars. I loved everything else about it. I love how this author manages to bring across the intense emotion and very real issues that she tackles. If this book, with all its glaringly obvious errors can pack a punch like it has, I can only imagine the effect it will have once its been "neatened".
I wasn't happy with the abrupt ending. I wanted more for them. I wanted an epilogue to SEE or feel their HEA but I'm assuming its the author's intention to leave things where they are, another reason I think she is just brilliant. A sequel is not necessary, but if there was one, I would be on it like white on rice.

I'm so conflicted over this book!
I seriously loved it up until 20% and then suddenly:
I seriously can not count the moments i murmured:
OR more accurately
There were points that actually called for the FACEPALM of ALL facepalms
Seriously what a mess. The one moment it's May and the next thing you know you wear a cardigan because it's October and after a while it's May again.. Not the following but the previous..
Avena was a wreck.. I lost the count on how many times she hit Adrian.. With no reason! NON AT ALL..
In fact in this book everybody hits somebody with no interference
It's unreal and lame!!
But it had it's moments.. Some great scenes that i loved and after a few pages the same shit happened again and again!!
THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK
- The edditing after a point was awfull..
- The characters had no consistency in the way they were interacting with each other or themselfs !
- TOOOOOO many grammatical errors..
- The story just wasn't flowing!
- It was vague at so many points, blurry and mysterious!
- Amazing prologue, so intiguing..
- Rushed end..
- I never felt they had a relationship..
- I wanted more H/h action!!

*WHY THIS BOOK HAS SUCH HIGH MARKS IN THE FEW REVIEWS IT'S RECIEVED, I DON'T KNOW. I CAN ONLY CONCLUDE WE DIDN'T READ THE SAME BOOK.*
I will however attempt to tell the truth about this book in my review. Since the author is asking for 6 dollars for this Kindle edition.
This book was horrible. And it was all over the place. From the constant mis-spellings to the inconsistency concerning the time frames, to the not so original plot and the way it was executed through out equals-NOT INTERESTING, IRRITATING, & POINTLESS READ.
The book starts out with a prologue in the present leading you into the past starting in May. Mom just died. Two weeks later its September, school has started and apparently they still have not had her mom's funeral *color me confused* then they are having the funeral in Sept (4 months later) but they are just meeting the funeral director. The next paragraph it turns into the actual funeral service then we're back in the "present" its October.. Then out of no where 7 months seems to have passed, we're in May. Next paragraph we're back in winter. Do you see how this back and forth time warp could really jack a person up trying to understand this story?
And the characters are all over the place as well. Nothing deep about them. Maybe Adrian. I would say that he carried the book but for majority of the book his POV is practically non existent. And his history/journey you miss a great deal of. He's just seen as an over sexed emotionless spoiled jerk with no hope of redemption. Although you see a spark of this trying to come through but the flow of the story snuffs it out.
Once you get through the pointless angst, you're headed for the Epilogue. Which is another inconsistent time warp cos it tells you 4 years after high school has passed when Adrian and Avena meet up again. Yet in the Prologue, when they are meeting up again in the present, before it takes you to how their story started, it tells you only 18 months have passed. So again, which is it?
The only way this one can be a good read is if...
1. This author withdrawls this version of this book from purchase and starts over.
2. get an editor to help track inconsistencies & spelling
3. Tell this story strictly from Adrian's POV, and expound more on his story. (It's the only thing interesting in this story which unfortunately, you don't get much of)
4.If you're going to use Avena's mother's death as a means of explaining her broken spirit, then find a better & more consistent way of tying that into the overall arc of the story.
This book just came off as super sloppy, no way of knowing how to find where it was truly wanting to go.
I can't in good faith recommend this read. If you still would like to read it, I would strongly suggest borrowing and not buying it.

So I gave this 5 stars because I finished this lastnight and woke up this morning still analyzing it. So i figure if you read a book and it lingers on your mind, it must be worth it! This book was kinda awesome. Adrian and Avena to me were really intense young people. They were dealt a wild card in life. When they found each other, really found each other, its like their world shifted. Literally you felt it happen. When they realize life may not be so shitty, and maybe they CAN feel, and maybe someone can love them and them love BACK. Because its been so long since either of them "Felt" anything good. Theres no sex in this, but plenty of emotion and intimacy going on. I was gripped, having to know how things end up. Theres the back and forth, up and down. And when it was up, i was hoping it would stay there. If you havent tried this yet, I would give it a shot. I loved the prologue and epilogue. Well Done.

4.5 hearts of fantastic, let me tell you why. Oh but prepare for some non-friendly but friendly language with asterisks! Did that make sense...?
My review might be like...meh... SPARE ME ITS ONE IN THE MORNING.
This book had me feeling nervous,excited,sad,and loved.
Adrian & Avena are two teenagers who have experienced tragidies in their lives. As they constantly cross paths, they slowly learn that running from your problems--is like fighting fire with fire. In order to break free from the past and feel the present, they realize that relying on each other, might be the only solution to their never ending sadness.
What I loved about the book:
*A ton of people are very half/half about the set-up of this story. I personally loved it. To be quite honest, I was a bit skeptical as to how the story would flow...but nevertheless, I loved knowing the story starting from present,past, to present and a possible future. And in the end the story was tied together like a complete package. hooray o/ *
1. Dual-POV: Honestly its like receiving two christmas presents instead of one. The story flows much better in the minds of both Adrian and Avena. Every time a situation would come up between the main characters I would never ask 'why' or be like 'wtf is happening'. All my questions were answered in both perspectives which I totally was thankful for.
2. Character Development: So many important characters here in the story and L.Jayne definitely had me hooked here. I fell in love with Adrian after...that 'incident'...wink wink. His character, personality wise grew so much in this book, and I'd have to say the same for Avena as well. All of Avena's friends were also well written in this book.
3. Raw emotions: OKAY STOP HEUH. YOU DON'T LIKE SPOILERS? go away now. bye. xoxo ;*
God, Oh my god. Seriously they've been here (the feels) , running around in my heart--driving me insane. Yeah this book had me nervous when Avena was harassed by Graham in the restroom,excited when Adrian always swooped in to become Avena's white knight when she was struggling,sad when Avena and Adrian started fighting, and loved when Adrian thought about Avena. I felt the love from his words, his mind set and actions. And honestly, I felt like in Adrian's POV he showed more love towards Avena than she did for him.
Every book has their negatives, this was my only problem though.
1.Wasnt really realistic & a bit extreme at times:
•Adrian almost committed murder when trying to drop a vase on Avery from 8373909862 f*cking feet high, from a window. And later he said "I'm glad that vase didn't kill you"...no shit LOL. Good thing she had ninja abilities...hahahno.
•Avena did cause...a ton of problems at school by getting into fights. Yet her dad didn't know that she got hurt at school, was sent to the hospital, and almost got raped. I remember the part where Avena said that her father wouldnt find out about the crap that happened when Adrian said that the hospital would probably be calling her parents... Sighhhh, I mean Im just wondering what kind of a godamn hospital doesn't inform a parent when their child got some xrays and blood wiped off of them. NOT TO MENTION THEM HOSPITAL FEES GURL. I don't know, maybe its just me and my useless ranting...
•Avena and Adrian constantly skip school,walk in the hallways during class...and they don't get in trouble. Either they're hella sneaky, their teachers really dont give two shits or...they need a security guard system...that'd be nice.
Despite the fact that this story could be a little too much at times, I was enveloped in the raw emotions of the broken and wounded. I've learned a great deal from this book:
•Love will help guide you through the roughest times in your life.
•No matter what happens stay strong, because you of all people deserve to give and to recieve that special feeling in your heart.
•Cherish the moments with your loved ones, every single day--because some day you might not see them again and you'll regret it.
I would definitely recommend this book to all you readers out there who love steamy romance and drama (lemmme add dem extra a's). You might like it, you might hate it. It really all depends on your preference. This review is really just my tidbit. Hope you guys enjoy this book as much as I have!
P.S. THAT FREAKINH ENDING I CANNOT...GAH. Good thing I have a very colorful imagination, heheh. *laughs like a crazy teenage hormonal girl* just kidding. maybe. //

I ACTUALLY LOVED THIS BOOK.
The characters' chemistry was pretty amazing. They were both broken in their own ways and they had to go through some major ordeals but in the end, their relationship stayed strong!
In the beginning, Avena is this strong, hard-willed and independent girl who refuses to take any bullshit from the player, Adrian Huntington. (BTW, I love his last name lol). When he insults her and publicly humiliates her, she takes a stand against him and hits him across his smirky face.
I really liked her character and also the bittersweet tone in the book. Their relationship was so fragile and while there were some steamy hot scenes in this story, there were also some sweet romantic scenes that left me heartbroken.
In the end, I could not believe it! They were separated?? WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO ME, L. JAYNE??
Now I have to read the sequel and see how they end up!
(Please let them have a HEA, they deserve so much more than that)
But Adrian was my favorite male anti-hero of all because he has really changed. In the start, he was cold and sarcastic but as he grew to love Avena, he started to melt and I discovered this really sweet side of him. Like when he held her hand as they slept. Totally innocent, and this is such a shocking moment because you know how Adrian sleeps around and all that. So it's a tender moment.
My other favorite scene was the LMAFO moment when Ave, in a fit of rage, jumps onto his back and starts hitting him. I could just picture that scene in my head and it's soo freaking funny. He calls her a monkey and it's just hilarious.
Overall, their chemistry was very intriguing. They had this personal connection that few YA characters have.

This book surprised me into liking it. At first I thought it was a typical Young Adult love story, with a girl and boy who hate each other on side and then fall deeply,madly in love. But wow was I wrong.
These two characters are both f***'d up. I mean the amount of crap they both have had to deal with throughout their lives is utterly ridiculous. You truly feel sorry for them and the unlucky hand they have been dealt with.
The way they found something in each other, that pulled them through the darkness. "Sigh" it does help that Adrian is a minx. hahaha Boy does he have his royally retarded moments, but cancels them out riding in on his white horse to save her. Gotta love a hero like that. And Avena.. I loved her strength, and the way she didnt put up with any of his crap. Admirable heroine.

wow....just wow...
This book was recommended to me by a friend and I'm really glad I listened to her and read it, I really really liked it!!
Jack & Avena's relationship was like a roller-coaster ride, so many ups and downs you feel dizzy at the end of it, but that's exactly why I loved them together so much...they felt real to me! That's also why I think the not so happy ending of the book, while in other circumstances would have been infuriating, was quite appropriate in this case.v

Jack & Avena's relationship was like a roller-coaster ride, so many ups and downs you feel dizzy at the end of it, but that's exactly why I loved them together so much...they felt real to me! That's also why I think the not so happy ending of the book, while in other circumstances would have been infuriating, was quite appropriate in this case.v

Me, after reading and devouring this e-book in just a day after buying it on Amazon.
Coming in with no expectations, I was completely blown away by the emotions that overtook me when I finished Chasing After Infinity. At first, I was like, "Eugh another YA novel," but now this new author has redefined the definition of youth fiction.
At the end of the book, when Adrian broke down and all his feelings for Avena came rushing out, I mercifully had some tissues handy.
Adrian:
I think I completely fell for Adrian Huntington: I mean sure he was a jerk in the beginning but you could see his character develop feelings for the main protagonist over time gradually. This book really takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride, with some humorous bits and then some tearjerking scenes.
All in all, Adrian and Avena had great chemistry between them and I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel.

I was really looking forward to this book, and read it immediately after I got it. Well....I can't believe how many 4 and 5 star reviews this has, since it is horribly written, is in dire need of editing and at one point the H, whose name is Adrian, is called Jace by the author! I read that this is a fanfic of a book I have not yet read. But still, WTF, for $5.99 you'd think the author has enough respect for herself that she'd get the names changed before selling this! I liked the H and h and the secondary characters had potential, but the writing was just so scattered, and it was so hard to understand what was actually happening, it made reading this just frustrating. Just way too all over the place and unrealistic. These kids were 17 and not a parent in sight or teachers anywhere, not to mention the abuse inflicted on the h by boys in the HS.
Perhaps, with a very intense scrub and some reworking of situations this book could be great. This however, is a hot mess. I skimmed the last 50% because I was invested and did want to know what happened to these characters, but was ultimately let down. I'm sorry I wasted an afternoon on it. I still can't believe this is priced at $5.99 and so poorly edited. Really disappointing.

Two things that made me grab this book and read it: One, I liked the blurb. Everyone knows I’m a romantic at heart and I’m a big fan of we’re-two-very-different-people-but-we-fell-in-love-and-it’s-undeniably-scary-and-beautiful-at-the-same-time stories. Two, there are so many mixed reviews about the book I just can’t help but read it and pass my own judgment.
I read it. And I liked it.
Chasing After Infinity is about Avena and Adrian – their struggles and how they found love with each other however unexpected and imperfect. Avena and Adrian are two very different people yet they can’t deny the intense pull between them when they’re around each other.
Avena is impulsive, independent, smartass and fiery. The kind of girl who could (and would) throw a punch. Despite her tough exterior however is a broken girl. She shut the whole world out when her mom died. Ever since, everything just fell apart – her life, her heart, who she is. She chose to be numb and distant to avoid feeling and getting hurt.
Enter Adrian Huntington. And honestly, my first thoughts about him went like this: Adrian is a jerk. Not like a jerk in a gentlemanly, charming way (no matter how ironic that sounds) who only does it to aggravate the girl and make her fall for him in the end. Nope, Adrian is a jerk. But you know what? After further reading, I totally changed my mind.
Adrian is a renowned player, a heartbreaker, an asshat, a rule-breaker and hot. Did I mention hot? He’s cocky, arrogant, indifferent... the usual. The kind of guy girls go crazy over. He is just the guy to lure you in, make you fall for him then break your heart and stomp all over it. The kind of guy who hides behind a cold, seemingly perfect façade what’s real and broken inside.
Chasing After Infinity is heavy with raw emotion and drama. I loved the plot – how it flowed and the way it was written with so much honesty and clarity. It took its time and has its defining moments.
I completely fell for the chemistry between Avena and Adrian. There was never a dull moment with those two. They are always so full of tension and conviction and passion. They keep on circling each other and denying what they obviously have. They are both infuriatingly stubborn and yet they’re so cute and perfect for each other.

I liked reading Chasing After Infinity a lot. But I have to give it a four-star rating (instead of five) because of some inconsistencies in the story and in the book.
I don’t get why they only had the memorial service after over a year. Really, I don’t get that. There were also some grammatical errors (although I barely noticed them), like say, a shift in person which takes out the meaning of the sentence, few omitted and misuse of words specifically prepositions.
Also, I feel like the minor characters weren’t given much thought. They didn’t have much of a story and depth. I found some parts of the story unrealistic too. I cannot believe any guy in his right mind would beat up a helpless girl much less join in forces to do just that.
Lastly, I feel like there’s still so much left unresolved. What happened when Adrian looked for his mom? Does Avena and her dad had some sort of closure and came to terms with what happened? And what of some of the minor characters?
There was at least an epilogue so that makes up for half of my concerns. It was perfect and heartbreaking.
Chasing After Infinity deals with serious issues of drugs, sex, alcohol, abuse and violence. Recommended for more mature audience.

This is my first romance novel I've ever read, and it's a good start for my variety of books to keep expanding :)
Firstly, I really like the cover. Considering the fact that Adrian and Avena visit the beach a lot and share moments together there, it works really well. And the sunset portraying Adrian and Avena as silhouettes is very beautiful and sweet. So yeah, the cover really worked for me.
And I really like how Avena isn't perfect and stuff but still tries to help others and make them feel better. And Adrian was soooo awesome. Sure, he's sexy, but there's more to him than those handsome green eyes. Inside, he goes through so much, and hides it all so that people don't feel all depressed just because of him. That's what makes him and Avena a match in heaven. They've both went through times of serious grief and pain and they understand each other, know what it's like. And with that, they help each other go through their troubles. So so sweet.
Another thing: I need a break from all those books with violence and wars and whatnot involving a bunch of seventeen-year-old supernatural kids. I'm getting tired of it. Really tired of it. Like seriously, there's no way that humans are supernatural, and there's an extremely low chance that people are gonna send random seventeen-year-olds into war. Thankfully, Chasing After Infinity is a peaceful, happy book that's way more likely gonna happen in real life.
However, I nick off a star because I don't understand why Avena keeps turning down Adrian. It's seriously strange. Like he's trying to help her, and they comfort each other, and all of a sudden Avena starts yelling at him. I'm like "What the heck just happened? Weren't they happy together the last sentence...?" So yeah that totally threw me off guard.
Still, awesome book. I look forward to more peaceful books :)

My feelings towards this are complicated. Because how can you not love adrian huntington. And am I the only one who thought he was like adrian from Vampire Academy, because that's who I was picturing. But adrian. He was so self destructive. I wanted them to be together forever. She was the one who changed him. But they didn't and I wanted to cry. Because he just left, and she just let him. He was so irritating at first, throwing a vase at her. Then the juice. But he redeemed himself. Rescuing her. And she had a rough fucking high school life. First her boyfriend trying to rape her, then getting jumped by those boys, then almost getting raped again. That was so sad, her crying out for Adrian. Then him like, Where's monkey?. WAIT SOMETHINGS NOT RIGHT HERE. But they were so cute and despite the gossip, I think it was evedient that they had something different. She was like his best friend kinda, and they made awesome friends for each other. And I was wondering where was her so called best friend sincere kindergarden at when she was locked in that bathroom. They didn't seem like very good friends. Him and that girl. No,.
Okay, ive slept on this and i have to take away a point. now 3.5
no I can't get it out of my head, you gain that point back

Wow. This book really hit me by surprise! To be fair I didn't have any expectations with this book, I was bored and found this ebook.
It was soooo good. I read it in a couple of hours it was so addicting. Adrian and Avena are so wrong yet so right for each other. I felt the sparks and got all lovey dovey. Definitely recommend it for a quick, fun, entertaining read. I'm giving it 4 stars just because I prefer longer stories, just a preference. I feel that longer stories have deeper connections (between reader and characters). Anyway, very nice romantic story!

I love everything! From the humorous banters of Adrian and Avena to their steamy and confusing relationship. Both of them are funny. But both are broken. They are just so broken it hurts me. They hurt themselves. Especially Adrian. Feeling incomplete and unwanted everytime. But then he puts on a mask, and hurt others instead.
My heart broke for Avena and Adrian. What they had was fragile. And sweet. I was just confused with so many things. Like what happened in Oklahoma, with Adrian's mother and all. I don't know. Some things just confuse me. And I was not satisfied with the ending. But for some reason, I want to give this book 4 stars. I just feel that I need to. So I will.

This book is achingly beautiful! No words can match what I'm feeling right now. The emotions are so raw and you can't help but drown into it.
Avena and Adrian are both messed up people. Both of them have gone through so much pain and they did not think that they were capable of that thing called love. Both didn't plan to fall in love but little did they know they are falling hard for each other. I can not think of a more proper way to end it.

I have whiplash from this book
I almost stopped reading with all the pranks ...
I didnt love it, but I also didn't hate it ...
There were some errors with the book too: its starts with the Epilogue from Adrian's pov, then Chapter One has 'eigtheen months earlier' but it should read 'around five years earlier' ... big whoops there

This book moved me like no other. I felt like I was on this ride with the characters. I actually feel hollow after reading this. It was funny, quirky and sad. It pulled a lot of my heart strings. In a way the book depressed me a little. The build up of their romance was beautiful to read. I was in tears towards the end. Truly an epic read!

Worse book ever! (Okay so not true but in crying).... The tears won't stop the pain is too damn real! I can't stop crying like I'm living the most heart breaking love ever!!! This book is so raw it has me by the heart and is tearing at me slowly.....I can't comment anymore. It all hurts....

I really loved this book because it wasn't fake with happy endings. There was real emotion, there wasn't a happy ending because in real life there isn't a happy ending. This book was a bit of fresh air and real!

What an emotional ride! This was a great read. So much drama between Adrian & Avena that lasts infinity! Ending was abrupt and was a little confusing but a great story after all!
