Accountable to None – Review

First let me just say this.... OLIN! Come here whilst I knock your head clean off, you jumped up, arrogant, abusive, self-centred tosser!

Ok, I feel much better now!

This book was passed to me for review by the author. I would just like to say thank you very much for this, as this is now one of my favourite books of all time. I’m going to be very careful what I say on this review, as I’m genuinely worried about spoiling it for other readers by delving too much into the Storyline.

Audra, our heroine, is not the needing, wimpy type girl that seems to be in every book at the moment. She is a smart woman who wants revenge, not just for herself, but for all the people she knows have been wronged. She is the ultimate heroine and if she were real, she would be my best friend. It was scary just how much the character thought the way I would in her situation.
This book needs to be read by every female on the planet, and every man who knows how to treat women and every other person in his life correctly. You will enjoy every page, every word this book has to offer. You will feel every emotion possible, anger, rage, contentment, happy. Accountable to None has everything. The plot is intriguing, the first page grabs your attention. It’s as though the book generates hands and grabs hold of you until you have finished reading it. And even after you finish, it doesn’t let go. It stays with you.

This is a perfect, and well thought out tail of revenge on a much more than deserving character. (He’s a dick and I hate him. If he was real and I walked past him in the street – I would attack him viciously!)

You know when you watch a TV series, or a film, and the actor play the part so well that you can end up genuinely despising or loving that character? Well Author Ashley Fontainne has the ability to make you feel that way about her characters. That to me, is the signs of an exceptional writer.
I can’t wait for Ashley’s next book, and I will be haunting her until she is so sick of me, that she will have no choice but to let me read it.

My first introduction to Ms Ashley Fontainne was at her Goodreads author page. I had just finished watching the trailer for her novel Accountable to None. Immediately, I left her a message. Being someone who has wanted to make a trailer for my own book, I felt compelled to let Ms Fontainne know that I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Each frame was a chapter describing a book that I would be interested in reading. Accountable to None is a story of a woman who takes five years of her life planning her revenge on those who have brutalized her or let it happen. In the process, Audra discovers others who have suffered at the hands of the powerful and greedy partners of Winscott & Associates

I downloaded a sample of Accountable to None and soon afterwards, learned that Ms Ashley Fontainne was giving away copies of the novel at The Kindle and Me; a blog hosted by Anjana Vasan. A couple of days after I registered to win, I received an e-mail announcing that I had won a signed copy. This was great, for I had finished the sample and was prepared to purchase the full copy. Not only that but upon winning a copy, I came to realize that I was meant to read this book.

Accountable to None was everything I had hoped it would be and more. It was compelling and entertaining. There were moments in the book that touched me. Moments that would put a lump in a lesser man’s throat. Who am I kidding? I damn near reached for the Kleenex a couple of times. And then the ending, this is where that fifth star comes into my rating of this story. I will not give it away, I can only say that it was quite fun and delicious.

Between the trailer she produced for the story and the story itself, it is clear that Ms Ashley Fontainne is nothing less than talented. I expect that we will be hearing from Ms Fontainne quite a bit in the future. I for one am looking forward to it.

I can't believe the number of people that have given this book a four or five star rating. The plot is unbelievable, the characters are one dimensional, and the author's writing is eighth grade at best. She or he (not sure which) has mastered the run-on sentence, and I've seldom read an author that can misplace modifiers so frequently. She/he also puts apostrophes where they don't belong and leaves them out when she should use them. (The plural of Barbie is Barbies, not Barbie's. That's the singular possessive, which she should have learned in about fourth grade.) I read 37% of this book and couldn't take any more. Fortunately, I got this as a freebie on Amazon, so I didn't waste any money. I did waste some time on this book which is too bad.

I am going to remove it from my Kindle -- it's that poor.

AMAZING. I won this book in one of the Goodreads giveaways, and as soon as I received it in the mail I read it. In one day. This book has interesting characters and a great fast-paced plot. It's short and easy to read so I would recommend this book to anyone. I couldn't put it down! Great revenge story. Loved it! Go Audra! :)

Ashley Fontainne: Accountable to None
Reviewed by Fran Lewis

Defiled, attached, spirit mutilated, raped: Audra would never be the same. A young CPT devoted to her job and about to be promoted to minority partner of an accounting firm, but at what cost. Dedication at what price and at your own risk? Managing partner Olin Kemper had his own agenda in mind when meeting with Audra. The end result a blood-riddled body covered in black and blues, bruises, torn and tattered clothing and an inner being, soul forever raped as well. Winscott and Associates had its own form of sorority or fraternity initiation held in their own backroom. Silence is often golden. Rewards are pricy and others will come back at you and the payment quite dear. Audra will bide her time, make her move just when things fall right into place. Accountable to None is about one young girls journey back into life and how she will make those responsible for what happened Accountable to All.

We meet the man being the rape, Olin Kempler who has no idea what others might have in store for him. Berating and belittling his assistant Gabrielle in public gave him pleasure. Answering him and standing up for herself did more than just anger him. One man with a duel personality hating women, using his company for his own monetary purposes, finagling the books and demeaning his employees gave him great pleasure. Able to take over a business and run it not difficult until CNN catches wind of one of his deals and his whole world just might explode if he is not careful. Remember Audra Tanner? One woman has Gabrielle’s explosion and her attack on Olin placed on a CD to give to the police. But, Audra contacts her and what she has planned for her and some others will definitely bring chills down your spine and allow any man that is abuse and demeaning to not fool with us women. But, first you need to meet all of the players on Olin’s team, how they are linked together, just what kind of a hold he has on all of them and what the end result will be when Audra creates her own team of revenge and attempts to take them all down.

Meet the adulterous and womanizing men who make up the various partners of the firm Winscott and Associates. First the author introduces Kevin who in most circles would never be consisted a male magnet nor anyone that most women would even consider flirting with. But, money, power and position often win out and even the strangest of guys who have nothing more to offer that their bank accounts, ability to help someone get promoted seem attractive. Kevin is smart and has a strong grasp for numbers, check, balances and finances. Working 24/7 was not what he originally envisioned for himself. Now, much older with married children Kevin found himself wondering where it all went. But, one dalliance that is front and center in his mind brought him back to reality as he waits for dreaded test results. Yes, our first player might have fooled around once too many times and now he might have to pay the costly price for his actions as one woman named Miranda seems to hold the cards or shall I say the ledger to balance at the figures in her favor.

Next, we meet Carl whose assistant recaps the incident with Gabrielle for him as Kevin hopes the test results do not come back in Miranda’s favor leaving him with not just another child but possibly more fall out in his life than he needs. Carl’s assistant is his wife’s friend Renee. Save choice. Renee loves her job and is enjoying her account of what went on between Olin and Gabrielle. Carl was not sure how accurate her assessment was and decided he needed to delve into it more and find out exactly what went on. Olin, on the other hand was planning more than just revenge on Gabrielle who seems to be every man’s delight and primary candidate for his major wish lists. Carl needs to divert Renee’s attention from the office gossip and sends her on an all-important errand to buy his wife a new car so that he can focus on Olin’s latest disaster. As he listens to her recount the events one thing rings true and that is Gabrielle’s emotional outburst infuriated Olin, appeared that she was frightened but when confronted away from the office she took him down in a really grand fashion. Next, Robert is a pawn in Olin’s hands. One night out would change his life forever and recalling how Olin bailed him out in class, helped him over the hurdles of certain exams in college allows the reader to know that not just Robert but all of the major players are bound and linked to this awful and diabolical man who is self absorbed, self serving and definitely more Dr. Hyde than Dr. Jekyll as the author states. Revenge is really the key theme in this book Just whether these Teflon men get away with all of their indisgressions and more still remains to be seen, as our Audra has not taken full stage in our intricate plot. Each partner guilty of something mainly adultery, all but Robert whose lies and life would change if Olin divulges the truth about what happened in the back of his truck with Gina. Some men are leeches; some like Robert are followers and some like Owen sociopaths and others like Kevin and Carl ride on the coattails of Olin hoping to come out ahead. Why are all so impressed and fearful of him? What other holds does he have? Why protect him? The firm deals with oil and gas companies some legit and others shady. The returns are coming in and the work is there but Olin seems to be forgetting to sign them. What will happen as a result of what CNN has revealed? This all still remains to be seen as we meet Eric. Eric was the head of the company until Olin managed to take it over. But, that did not stop his involvement or his road to the top. Nicole and Eric are the next two players introduced, as he just like Robert receives a distressing email from Carl as the hammer is about to fall and the pieces will scatter in many directions. Sprigg Oil and Gas sited for its fraudulent audits, now being investigated, license in jeopardy, and SEC sanctions. What else could go wrong? Well: let’s meet the woman who is about to take them all down. As Audra begins to put the pieces together we learn how she managed to hack into the companies computer files, the emails of the partners, video feeds, computer print outs and much more. Making sure that she had daily backups, running the IT committee with employees who had no idea about her agenda Audra with the help of Gabrielle and one police detective waited five years to take down Olin and the rest of our players. Will she succeed? Will they find out who is behind the plot? Who is Gina? Was she really murdered?

Audra meets with one detective and the truth behind her rape and what she plans to do comes out. As they meet to discuss what do to about Olin, she completes hers with the detective. Let’s have Audra explain:
“I told the detective about my rape, what I went through and exactly what Olin did to me. I explained how I preserved the evidence for five years and would hand it over to him. I explained how I discovered the truth behind what happened to Gina and from there the detective ran with it. Getting her file and admitting they had some DNA evidence I came clean with my plan to take the company down. Those that would hand out the packages to each of the partners were in place as I am about to enter the boardroom and meet with the players and put my plan in motion. Gina would no longer rest in the woods as she did for 33 years. Closure for her family. Revenge for many others and me. The best is yet to come. So, stick around there is much more to reveal as Fran Lewis reviews Accountable to None by author Ashley Fontainne. The meeting begins. The players are there and Olin faces his judges and now the fun begins.”

One strong woman would change the lives of many and challenge one man in a way he would never see coming. As Audra enters the room and she commands the attention of those present executing her plan will shock the players, the reader and renew your faith in the true meaning of the word Revenge. Audra, thought to be quiet, and pliable proves to the partners that unless they conform to her demands things will definitely not go their way. With the help of one detective, one agent and her new assistant Olin just might meet his fate. Lies revealed. One murder solved. One family able to learn to the truth but this is far from the end, as you will learn. One woman still haunted by Olin and loyal to him and one man who feels the world owes it all to him and women are not worthy of anything but servicing his every need. Audra’s plan is in place. The players are all present and the end result you just won’t believe. Well: Watch the video feed and see the events unravel for yourself when you read this fast paced book that gives new meaning to the words revenge and getting even. But, the startling ending lets you know there is much more to come when those that think they are not accountable learn that the balance for their deeds is more much than NONE! When the past comes face to face with the present what will happen to the company? Will the players all go to jail? Cooked books, fraudulent deals and much more. What is Audra’s revenge? Ashley Fontainne has just begun to tell her story. There is much more to come. Watch for Zero Balance.
Let’s give this book: FIVE BOOKS THAT ACTUALLY BALANCE

This book was made for Hollywood. Seriously. I can totally picture Angelina Jolie or some other extremely skinny actress playing Audra and winning an Oscar for this.

'Accountable to None' is the story of not one person but over 7-8 different people but it's all focused one, probably the most evil man alive named Olin.
The story begins with Audra crawled in her office hours after being raped and brutally hurt by her boss Olin, whom she met with that night thinking they were going to discuss her promotion to partner at the large Accounting Firm she works at, instead turns out he just wanted to get in her pants (understating it).

The incident left Audra emotionally and physically broken, as she had lost everything while trying to climb the corporate ladder (her friends, family and even her baby), only to be abused and hurt by the company she gave everything to. So, with all the vengeance within her, she decides that she needs her revenge, so she waits, quietly and patiently for five years, without drawing any unwanted attention to herself, to get it.

This is the story of how it all plays out and how Audra gets her retribution.

Honestly, this book blew me away. 'Accountable to None' is not for everyone - it has its dark side, actually, most of it is dark - but me, I like horror stories. From the first page, I swear I couldn't take my eyes off the book. Each of the characters had their own backgrounds explored in depth that made you understand them and hate them within a few pages. 'Accountable to None' was highly suspenseful and felt like going on a fast rollercoaster ride uphill till the moment when it all falls down. Oh, I waited for that moment. I wanted to see Olin crushed. I hated him. He was,to me,

Olin is Lucifer

Ashley's managed to create a brilliant villan, a man full of evil and easy to hate. I found myself invested in Audra's requital.

The end of the book believable, but I do feel Olin deserves much worse. Not just him, all the others at the firm really. I guess I wanted more for a man like Olin and also the others, after five years of plotting. Hence, the 4 stars.

Ashley Fontainne's a natural at suspense/mystery/thrillers and I recommend this book to anyone who likes such genres and don't mind some adult & dark content.

“It’s Not Revenge She’s After – It’s a Reckoning”

Accountable to None, by Ashley Fontainne, is more than just a tale about revenge – much more. It is a story about the human spirit – the human endurance structure that is woven throughout each and every one of us. There comes a time in all of our lives when we feel that we have been victimized in one way or another. Do we select to seek out revenge – or do we simply choose to forgive our attacker? Justice must always be served!

Audra is a beautiful and intelligent CPA at an accounting firm in Phoenix, Arizona. Her boss, Olin Kemper, is a belligerent, power seeking, maniacal sex-crazed maniac. Upon being lured into a meeting with him on the assumption of a possible promotion, he sexually assaults her while others turn a blind eye. I will not get into details, as I want the reader to experience first hand the authors’ realistic description of this horrific event.

Fast-forward and we find Audra is now head of the IT department. Using her computer skills, she hacks into their security system looking for anything that will incriminate those responsible for her suffering. This is where the story strikes a dramatic turn of events.

In ‘Accountable to None’, Ashley Fontainne weaves a suspenseful tale of murder, revenge and justice – perfectly balanced.

I give Five Stars to this spellbinding thriller. Bravo!

Spoilers ahead!

The brutal rape of Audra Tanner is the compelling opening to this story of greed, lust, and revenge. We all know someone like Olin, the egotistical psycho boss who rules with an iron fist. And in our minds we wish we could be the fly on the wall when justice has finally been doled out. ACCOUNTABLE TO NONE is a gripping tale of corporate tyranny, deception, and power gone horribly wrong. When Audra spends years amassing an indisputable amount of evidence against the man who took so much from her, the exciting conclusion of an exacting revenge comes with a twist that will have you cheering for her and wishing you were next to her slapping the cuffs on the man himself. Fun!

Ashley Fontaine weaves a brilliant tale told from the lives of all the players in the corrupt office and as it unfolds she draws you in and never lets go. The novel flows well and the writing is excellent. I read this in two sittings. I just couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read the sequel. Well Done!

3.5

I do not really know whether to give this a three or a four, so I will say 3.5 and give it four stars.

This book had good points, a lot of good points. It is a thriller, a page turner. I read books on my iPhone kindle app during my breaks and I found that I was taking a lot of breaks and they were getting longer.

I really liked the way the author showed me the crisis from different viewpoints. I was basically kept waiting to hear what the crisis actually was. For me that was very well done.

I can actually see this as a movie. Quite possibly and if it is, may well be successful.

You may ask why I am not giving it 5 star rating. Frankly that is my issue. While reading I had already worked out what the last third of the book was about. So for me, it was predictable. But then again, that is the sign of a good writer, to give you the clues all along so that you can work out for yourself what will happen.

Read it for yourself and decide.

Ashley Fontainne manages to achieve the impossible: she makes accountants interesting! Beginning with an incredibly harrowing scene you are grabbed hook, line and sinker into the story as the book becomes an almost compulsive read.

Audra is a worthy protagonist, almost destroying herself in her quest for vengeance against the despicable Olin, her boss. The action and revelations don’t stop as each main character is explored in depth, giving more weight to the overall plot. The book’s central scene simply explodes across the pages and is as gripping as it is satisfying. The last chapter is certainly clever, setting up nicely for the sequel, Zero Balance – and if book 2 is anything like Accountable to None it’s sure to be a powerful must-read!

Poisonous relationships, sexual crimes covered up in the name of business, desperate misery and desperate measures all come together in Ashley Fontainne’s Accountable to None, first in her Eviscerating the Snake series. And there are certainly snakes in the paradise of this business world.

Strong language in the opening scene warns readers what to expect. Analytical descriptions of character motivations and occasional over-the-top descriptions—“a textbook narcisist/sociopath that any psychologist would salivate over at the thought of…”—together with long backstories, offer a bumpy ride, sometimes fast and sometimes languorously slow. There’s much to relish in the playing out of revenge, and much to despise in the carefully described inner thoughts of the main antagonist.

The first part of the story is complete by the end of this novel, so readers could stop here or go on to read more as they choose. The novel’s short, but the reading’s slow, with touches of faith, ashes of pain, and thunderous splashes of fury at the world’s treatment of women in business.

Disclosure: I found it on a deal and I offer my honest review.

This book was fantastic! I'd never read a Ashley Fontainne novel before, so I didn't know exactly what to expect. At first I was a little iffy about it as it appeared it wouldn't be a romance (and that is my main source of reading) and each chapter was from the perspective of a different character. I didn't think I would like that each chapter was focused on a different character, but it worked really well for the book and I ended up loving it in the end! With each chapter the story progresses, the reader gets to learn about so many more characters than just a central one or two. After Audra's story in the prologue I wondered for quite a while if/when she was going to pop back up. I figured she had to (or else why would she be in the prologue vowing to get revenge?) but I didn't know when it was going to happen. The fact that she was going to was confirmed when I read the chapter in which Gabrielle quits to then get a phone call from Audra. Knowing she wanted revenge also didn't prepare me for the brilliance of said revenge when all eventually came to light. Audra is far more intelligent than anyone she worked with ever gave her credit for. She not only got justice for herself, but solved a major problem facing all of the partners at the firm. Considering the major intentional oversights of all of the partners (barring Carl) as to what happened to her five years before, I believe she found justice in a way that humbled them, but in no way destroyed them or was at all unjustified. Carl's state and words after signing the paperwork at the end of the meeting were great to hear both as Audra and as a reader. It is hard to know that a woman went through any experience like hers on that dreadful night, but another thing entirely to know that four other individuals, partners in the company, deliberately ignored what had clearly happened that night (not to mention the one that perpetrated it). It's truly deplorable. This book was well-written with dynamic, intriguing characters. Getting a little glimpse into each of their lives was fantastic. Fontainne manages to weave the story seamlessly, despite the multitude of essentially characters that we learn about over the course of the book. The book includes a small amount of romance at the very end (more a budding romance) following a truly touching scene of Gina's memorial service (seriously, I was near tears at the overwhelming emotions out in that field; sadness, generosity, forgiveness, rebirth, relief, awakening, and so many more). While I realize this is the first book in a series, I believe it could easily be read as a standalone. The book has a HEA ending (barring the epilogue) and doesn't really end in a cliffhanger. It is is the epilogue that will really make you curious as to what happens next. It is clear that something is going to happen in the presumably near future (and not a good something). It has me on the edge of my seat and itching to read the second book in the series. Overall, I'm excited to see how the story progresses and how the characters evolve as the series progresses. Again, I thought this book was fantastic and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. :)

Wow, what a story!
Winscott & Associates is one of the largest and most successful accounting firms in Arizona. Five years ago the partners have voted and have chosen Olin as a managing partner. This is probably the biggest mistake they've made in their lives...a mistake that will shatter their comfortable positions at the Firm and maybe even endanger their reputation and lives!
Olin is cruel, lying, arrogant bastard..but he's always been that way. Everyone at the Firm is familiar with the fact he is manipulating people, especially women, offering promotions and a partnership in exchange for sex. Five years ago, just prior to settling as a managing partner, he found the "wrong" victim - Audra Tanner.
Cruel, powerful, rich, man with insatiable libidos, mistresses, ex-wife's, rape, murder..this story has it all!
Five years ago Audra was raped by Olin...
Five years ago they've all heard her screams but neither of them helped her.
Five years she waited for the right moment to destroy "The Elite" and this time they are all going to pay!
While reading the blurb of the book I assumed this story will be centered around Audra, but I must admit I was tricked (in a good way of course). Ashley Fontainne created a complex thriller with many interwoven stories. Each of her characters tells a story explaining their relationship with Olin, revealing a bit of Olin's nasty and cruel nature. I must admit I was fascinated by this!
Ashley created a profound thriller that will grab you from the very first page! I don't think I ever hated a book character that much in my life, but it's not because Olin was not well developed...on the contrary, he feels too real and it seems all evil is placed in him. I really love Ashley's writing style and her knowledge in human psychology. This sure is a book that deserves to be made into a TV series or a movie. Speaking of movies I already thought which actor could play Olin..

If you're looking for a fast paced read, with action/mystery/thriller elements, this is the PERFECT read for you. The author is currently working on the sequel and I am really looking forward to reading it.
Finally I would like to thank the author for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

Accountable to None is a fast paced story about revenge. Follow the high rollers of an accounting firm in Phoenix, Arizona as the revenge story unfolds. What could happen to drive someone to the deep dark recesses of revenge? What could cause someone to hole themselves up and cost so someone so much – all the things meaningful in life – that they would seek revenge?

Ashley is able to weave a quick story that is very fast paced. She is capable of pulling together characters while spending little time on details as other authors do to give the reader the image of the characters. There are some grammatical errors but none so bad to distract from the story.

There are some negative reviews that encompass the grammar and the inconceivable. As a criminal justice major there is such a thing as the CSI effect. Where we, as a society, have the inability to believe that something could happen without forensics evidence. Reading a novel is about relaxing and being taken into an area where there is an imagination. Is Alice speaking with a white rabbit really believable? How about the tales of Moby Dick? What about how many leagues under the sea? Once upon a time there were tales of fantasy, lore, and things that were out of this world. The tale that Ashley weaves may or may not be conceivable. At the end of the day, that’s not why we should pick up a book.

As an editor, there are some things that I want to correct; however, I want to correct things in all books – like the use of contractions in the story development. I, personally, am a traditionalist in writing composition – however – in today’s society can’t, ain’t and won’t are acceptable throughout story development – which in my mind is unacceptable. The book needs polished, however, the errors present are ones that do not detract from the story.

I hope there is a second coming down the pike – and I expect Ashley’s writings to become more polished, heightened, and more exciting. She set the bar for herself, but I suspect she’ll be able to achieve and surpass that should she continue to write. I am waiting for baited breath for a second. Ashley – do tell us there is a second.

Ashley Fontainne has written a thriller that takes you on a roller coaster ride. Accountable to None starts off with the rape and beating of Audra, the main character. She then sets off to exact her revenge. Enter Olin, this character makes my skin crawl and makes me want to smack him. He is mean to the core and as selfish as they come.

The whole of the story I was amazed to learn that everyone was basically afraid of Olin. Though as a person I could see why. He wouldn't and didn't have any problems cutting you to the bone in any and all directions he deems necessary.

There are heartfelt moments when it comes to Audra and for a while I thought for sure she might even crack under the pressure of all she had been through. From the very start of the novel, her character pulled at my heart strings and made me cheer for her in her actions. The whole of this novel is fought with emotions that can only be described as getting to the soul of a being.

Yes I know I have said little about the plot, needless to say, there are as many twists and turns in this thrill ride that will have you wondering what more can Audra go through. Also there is a great mystery that I will not share with you. You're going to have to purchase the book to find out what that is. Needless to say, the mystery will make you want to hide yourself under your covers as Ashely weaves the tale of the past with what's happening in the present.

I know without a doubt that we are going to be thrilled by whatever Ashley comes up with next!!

Basically, this is a story of revenge for a female partner in an accounting firm that promotes, uses and disposes of female employees by the alpha male and his male cohorts using sex as the weapon. What happened to the main character Audra is horrible, and she will then engage in the ultimate payback that takes five years. It is shown through the other characters as well, both male and female, and is a terrific story of power, money, corruption, using sex as power, and ultimately greed on the part of everyone.

Which is what keeps me from rating this as five stars. Even Audra is made to be seen as a greedy, selfish person only caring about her own career and income. Different levels of this type of characterization is done for each of them, but all the main players just seem to be out for themselves, even those who seem to be purely "victims." At least near the end of the story, there are a couple of exceptions to this (no spoiler - read the story for what I mean!) but overall, I don't like the over-emphasis on the greed and boorishness being used to characterize the people of the story. And since they are all "rich", maybe the Occupy crowd will like this, as this can help boost the stereotype of the "evil 1%." Note: That is supposed to be an attempt at humor! :)

So, while the story is gripping and kept me reading, I was disappointed at the over-the-top use of the worst characteristics of the main characters. Hence, four stars.

Accountable to None is a well-written story where each chapter is told from the perspective of one of the partners in a prestigious Arizona accounting firm. We are provided a glimpse into each partners’ back-story; we learn what makes them tick, how they became partners, and why they continually ignore the actions of the general partner in the firm.

From the beginning of the story, we know that Audra Tanner was beaten and raped by the general partner after she’s dedicated several years of her life working hard to achieve partner status in the firm. Thankfully we are spared all the gory details of the act itself, but are left with the aftermath and how it affects Audra.

Prior to her rape, Audra was a workaholic whose endless hours of working led to a miscarriage and eventual divorce. Now, Audra dedicates as much time as she use to put into work, gathering intelligence and information that will assist her in exacting revenge. She literally becomes obsessed with seeing her rapist, and everyone who knew about it, pay for the agony, heartbreak and humiliation that was bestowed upon her over the past five years.

Sara Morsey’s narration was excellent. She appropriately portrayed Audra as a frail and broken spirit. Her narration was so good that I easily imagined Audra as someone who wasted away to less than 100 pounds. I can’t wait to listen to the next book in the trilogy!

This book turned out to be everything I was hoping it would be! I had no idea boardroom brawls could get so intense and…bloody.

I was drawn into the story from the word go, and instantly felt sympathy for the main character. What she had to endure is every woman’s worst nightmare. Some choose to remain victims after such an ordeal, but others – like Audra – choose to take matters into their own hands and fight back.

I am a big fan of strong female characters, so of course I took an instant liking to Audra. New role players are continuously introduced throughout the first half of the book, all the while building up the tension at lightning speed to an explosive conclusion. Impelled by the author’s superb writing and a well-executed plot, I was able to effortlessly slip into each character’s shoes, and by the time the big finale rolled around, I knew every character inside out - dirty little secrets and all.

“Accountable to None” is a splendidly-written story with realistic characters, each with closets full of skeletons. Taking the reader to the darker side of the human mind, it is a book you just can’t put down until you’ve devoured every single chapter while reality falls away around you as you come face to face with the personification of “twisted’ and “cruel”. I’m eagerly looking forward to reading more of this author’s outstanding work!

Every bit as good as James Patterson ...

I grew up in a world where there were about a dozen writers that ruled the book shelves of my local book store. And why? Because those were the only authors I had reasonable exposure to - they owned the end aisles and feature bins at the front of the store and were backed by the big publishers who essentially owned the business. Sure, I could wade into the poorly-lit back aisles and risk $10-20 on an unknown name, and maybe get lucky once in a while and find a great author. But why take that risk when everyone else was clustered around the Top 10 shelf?

Ashley Fontainne (and her series Eviscerating The Snake) is a perfect example of an author that has everything to gain in the new reality of ebook publishing - her work is every bit as entertaining, as gripping and worthy of your attention as anything produced by James Patterson and his stable of co-writers. Only now you can actually find her work and enjoy it for a fraction of the cost.

Buying this book will not only give you a great read - or if you purchase the audiobook, a thrilling listen - but will help to support a new generation of writers that are brave enough to write outside the lines of the traditional conservative publishing industry.

Long live revenge thrillers - and long live Ashley Fontainne.

Let me start with this... I read / listened to this book via audible.com. I love audiobooks as they give me opportunity to sit back & relax or even do housework while listening to the stories. The narration offers proper accents & pronunciations, most of which I mess up when I read on my own. Also audiobooks give us the ability to be able to picture the story like a movie as we hear it.
Vengeance is sweet! This book is a thrill ride about a woman who was brutally raped by a boss and promoted to cover it up as he does with all the employees he rapes. Audra was raped by her boss & then promoted. It takes her more than 5 years to gather all the evidence she can against her boss & other partners via cameras , spying & computer hacking. While doing all this, she also solves a murder & comes out on top. Now she is the boss!
Great story line & excellent narration. I was on the edge of my seat quite often. My heart was breaking while hearing all the details of the murder - good vs evil. I am looking forward to the next book in this series! If you like thrillers, I highly recommend this book.

"Taking Care of Business Like a Boss Lady"
This is a book I would definitely recommend to a friend. My mom would even love this book. It was a great story with excellent plot twists. I also received this audiobook free of charge in exchange for an unbiased review. There were many scenes in this book I really liked but I'd have to say overall I enjoyed the enire book. Not a single dull moment. I liked whenever Gabrielle was talking to the parking attendant and she had instinctively made Gabrielle a copy of the tape. I also liked the ending when the truth of what Olin did so many years ago came into light. I also thought it was great when her backstabbing friend was fired. This story was a great edge of your seat suspense. I love Ashley Fontainne's books. They're all intensely thrilling and wonderfully written. I can't rave enough about them. Keep up the great work! I also enjoyed Sara Morsey's narration of this book. It worked perfectly. She is a wonderful voice actor. I love this series.

I purchased and read this book as I was fortunate enough to win the Goodreads First Reads giveaway of the sequel, Zero Balance; I thought that I should read the first book in the series to fully appreciate it when it arrives.

I am so glad that I did. The characters are vivid and compelling, with villains you loathe and the righteous you truly get behind in their quest for revenge; the righteous are not necessarily acting morally, but you empathise and understand their need for revenge, and thus, enjoy the villains getting their come-uppance.

The writing is of an amazing standard; I still found the odd few typos in the e-book version, but it is very rare that you find none at all. It is the writer's use of language, vocabulary and the compelling way the words spill across the page, making the reader want to turn them faster and faster to reach the book's conclusion that make this a truly special novel.

I am very much looking forward to receiving and reading the sequel!!

Audra Tanner has lived in a dark place for the past five years. Ever since her boss brutally raped and beat her, then oh so casually told her she would be made an Equity Partner. Audra spent five years learning everything she could about Olin Kemper and the other partners who stood silently by, ignoring her cries for help that tragic night. She learns to hack the company's computers and becomes the head of the company's IT department. She learns that not only was Kemper involved in some unethical corporate behavior, she discovers that, years ago, he was responsible for the death of a young co-ed, Gina Milligan. Now Audra is seaking revenge not only for herself, but for Gina and Gabrielle, Olin's most recent victim.

Ashley does a good job of building the suspense. It was a book I didn't want to put down.

AMAZING READ!

The author of Accountable To None, Ashley Fontainne, took me on an emotional roller coaster ride, feeling everything from pain and heartache of a character that the reader finds themselves wanting to wrap in a warm embrace, to the evil sense of entitlement on one of the most brutal characters I have read about in a long time. I'm exhausted. I could not put this book down. It gripped me from the very beginning and the intensity level just kept building and building. I found myself holding my breath as I read. I suggest you start this book on a Saturday morning with nothing planned for the day, because once you start, you won't be able to stop. This is an AMAZING READ! I highly recommend it.

Accountable to none-Ashley Fontainne
Olin Kemper is a selfish and extremely hedonistic bastard. He disrespects anyone working under him especially women and doesn’t even like his fellow partners. Five years ago he brutally raped and beat a woman. Now she is out for revenge against him and the other partners who failed to help. Armed with ample ammunition against all of them she is ready to carry out her plan. Watch out, here comes Audra.
Ashley Fontainne has done very well to write such a hateful character in Olin and his whipped partners are no better. Audra and Gabrielle are two strong women who overcame their experiences with Olin and the others. The story is fast paced and full of suspense. I highly recommend ACCOUNTABLE TO NONE and give the story five gold stars.

WOW! Revenge is sweet! A MUST READ!! Accountable to None is fast-paced, emotionally driven, and filled with hard-hearted selfish villains you Love to Hate. Author Ashley Fontainne writes with biting realism, a style I thoroughly enjoyed reading. No fluffy fairy tales here! This story ROCKS! As I met each character and learned the graphic details of the horrific crimes that are driving Audra to seek revenge, I seriously hated her enemies. Audra is smart, strong, and calculating. She takes her time gathering evidence. Olin completely deserves his punishment when justice is finally served! 5-STARS!!!

Fontainne has a creative, dark mind and you can feel it as you flip through the pages of “Accountable to None.” While the plot borders on unbelievable, it adds to the overall appeal of the storyline, especially since Audra, who has been underestimated for her entire career, steps up to the plate to put an end to the masochistic tendencies of the managing partner. “Accountable to None” is a novel that you won’t be able to put down because you want to know what happens next and what Audra has in store for the most successful men in her company. Who knew accounting could be so interesting and dramatic?

Wow, a real rollercoaster of a book and one I really didn't want to put down !! It's all about a girl attacked by one of her bosses five years previously and who bides her time in order to wreak her revenge. You're pretty much right there in the room at her side cheering her on !!
All the characters are very different and it was interesting all the way. AND the author also left it open-ended at the climax (with still having a satisfying outcome)and so there's a sequel !!
The only reason I took one star away was some very glaring spelling errors in the book which always spoil a tale for me a bit.
Can't wait for the next one !!

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the Eviscerating the Snake series--so much so that I read the other two. The setting in a huge accounting firm was something that I'd never read about before. The main character, Audra, was brutally raped before being made a partner. The dirty deed was ignored by all the other partners until Audra gets her revenge. In the process she solves a 30-year-old murder mystery. I've read other reviews criticizing the editing, but obviously it has been all cleaned up in this new addition. This is an excellent suspense story, but part two and three are even better.

A Riveting Tale of Revenge!
Very well written. Ashley Fontainne’s novel ‘Accountable to None’ is a realistic peek into a winning-at-all-costs corrupt workplace that ultimately is brought down. Past misdeeds come to light; a murder and horrific sexual assaults. It reminded me of a John Grisham novel with its gripping David and Goliath justice prevails ending. Great characters who go through hell and back and one crazed psychopath. A great read in front of the fireplace on a chilly evening.
