See Mary Mack's review. I hesitate to even write a review, as hers says it all! A Newsweek published series, Wonders of Man. Originally published in 1972. My only reservation is that the latest version was published in 1978, and there must have been some changes, now, in 2010.

Yet another one of those terrific Wonders of Man books featuring a great building or city... back when Newsweek and TIME-Life published stuff like this. The whole layout and significance and what is what in Jerusalem has long confused me. This book does a great job sorting all these things out (the Wailing Wall, etc.). The Dome of the Rock is a Mosque, by the way. One of the most remarkable buildings ever built anywhere.

Outstanding synopsis of the history surrounding Jeusalem and the Holy Lands. A good condensed read of thousands of year of bloody history that helps put a framework to understanding why this region will always be in conflict.
