Amy Plum is the international bestselling author of the DIE FOR ME series (Indie Next List pick, Romance Times top pick, and recipient of a starred review from School Library Journal). The books have been translated into thirteen foreign languages. The trilogy is accompanied by three novellas entitled DIE FOR HER, DIE ONCE MORE, TO DIE FOR and a compendium entitled INSIDE THE WORLD OF DIE FOR ME.

In DREAMFALL and NEVERWAKE a radical experiment to cure chronic insomnia goes wrong, and its seven teenage test subjects are plunged into a shared coma populated by one another’s nightmares; those who die in the dream will also die in real life.

Amy's action/adventure/magic duology, AFTER THE END and UNTIL THE BEGINNING, received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, 4 1/2 stars from RT Book Reviews, and enthusiastic reviews from Kirkus, USA Today, ALA Booklist and School Library Journal.

After being raised in Birmingham, Alabama, in a rather restrictive environment, AMY PLUM escaped to Chicago to an even more restrictive environment at a university that expelled people for dancing. (And where she was called to the dean’s office for “wearing too much black”.) After all of that restrictiveness, she was forced to run far far away, specifically to Paris, France, where she only wore black and danced all she wanted.

After five years in Paris, she ventured to London, where she got an M.A. in Medieval Art History, specializing in Early Sienese Painting (1260-1348) mainly because it promised almost no hope of finding a paying job afterward.

Amy managed to find work in the world of art and antiques in New York. But after almost a decade of high-pressure lifestyle in the Big Apple, she swapped her American city for a French village of 1300 inhabitants.

After signing with HarperCollins for the DIE FOR ME series, Amy left her job as an English professor at Tours University to write full-time. She now lives in Paris with her two kids and her black lab, Oberon.

She is a huge fan of Edward Gorey and Maira Kalman (and collects both of their books/art), as well as David Sedaris, Amadeo Modigliani, and Ira Glass.

Jules is too perfect. I loved being inside his head and seeing what he thought throughout the series. I feel bad for him though because he needs to be loved! Jules, if you existed, I would love you haha. *sigh* I hope things work out for him in the end and he finds somebody else. Kate doesn't deserve him (and honestly Kate and Vincent are perfect for each other. No doubt about it.)

But what I loved about this novella is that unlike other novellas this basically recapped the whole series for us before If I Should Die comes out. I love novellas that have a mini story to them in between the series, but I loved that this one was different. Now I don't have to skim through the other stories before reading IISD when it comes out.

OH MY GOD!!!

description

This novella totally did a number on me, potraying a worst case of unrequited love, and this

description

and a lot of this

description

Here's something which goes inside Jules head:
"The more Kate’s in our lives, the more I find myself falling for her.
The more I see her, the more I want her around.
It’s a vicious cycle, and it’s making me crazy."

description

"It’s with a feeling of despair that I return her to his arms.
I want him to be angry.
I want him to challenge me.
Because then the truth will be out and I won’t have to hide my feelings.
But he trusts me too much to suspect me.
And I love him too much to hurt him."

description

Though I just love Vincent, but I just couldn't help but fall for Jules too.

"She is my inspiration. My muse. My obsession."(Sigh,....then a sob)

I didn't really care for any of the characters in this series except for may be Jules a little and obviously I wanted to read a book about him. But it's all full of how he is so in love with Kate but Kate loves Vincent. I mean why have an interesting character in a series if he were to fall in love with the most boring person ever. As if one Vincent wasn't enough and what's so special about Kate, I just can't figure out. Why everyone keeps falling in love with her?

I wish there was more to this book than Jules just pining about Kate. I mean there was so much the writer could write but this is what I got. I had high hopes but all my hopes were thwarted.

This is a great novella that follows on from books 1 and 2 of the Revenants series. It is from the POV of Vincent’s flirty, womanising best friend, Jules, as he comes to the realisation that he is in love with his best friend’s girl.

“I’m falling for Kate. How could I? My best friend is in love with her. And she with him. You must never let them know - the words sizzle through my mind, and I feel like I am bleeding internally.”

I loved getting to see this side of Jules! I suspected that he had feeling for Kate, with his flirty mannerisms, and his protectiveness of her, but being inside of his head and watching him try to deal with his emotions is truly heartbreaking.

I love the relationship between Jules and Kate, they obviously care for each other, but it is fun and flirty, and from Kate’s perspective it is entirely innocent. From Jules’ perspective, it is him pouring his heart out to her, telling her how he feels over and over, but playing it off as a joke under the guise of his innocent and friendly flirting, even as it destroys him. Because through it all, he is fiercely loyal to Vincent, and would never disrespect his best friend by sharing his feelings.

“It's with a feeling of despair that I return her to his arms. I want him to be angry. I want him to challenge me. Because then the truth will be out and I won’t have to hide my feelings. But he trusts me too much to suspect me. And I love him too much to hurt him.”

*sniff*

The novella covers the time period of the first two books of the series – Die for Me and Until I Die – and we get to see a lot of the behind-the-scenes action that takes place with the Revenants from the moment that Vincent (and Jules) first see Kate, through all of the lead up to them being together, and all of the events that follow. I loved getting to see this side of the story, by showing us the everyday encounters of the group, along with their reactions to all of the big events of the series, Amy Plum has given us more depth to her world, and provided us with further insight into all that has happened so far.

And that ending… OMG THAT ENDING!!!! While Until I Die left off on a devastating cliffhanger, with a little glimmer of hope, the ending of Die for Her takes us a little bit beyond that, and I was left in utter shock and swearing – loudly! I will be diving straight into the big finale, I cannot WAIT to see how it’s all going to end.

UPDATE
I just finished reading die for her (late i know)but i officially did three things.
1) Added Kate and Vincent’s relationship to my 'love i would die for' list
2) Added Jules to my 'guys i would date without a second thought and possibly dump my boyfriend for' list
3) Moved violette from my 'bad guys i want to see die' to my 'bad guys i want to see die slowly and painfully' list.

that being said i know anyone who read this book most defiantly did number two and i have to say that i fell head over heels in love with this character and that if Kate doesn’t want him (like we all know she doesn’t) i will be glad to take him :p

This wasnt really a #2.5 like I thought it would be. It didnt take place after book 2. It was the story of books 1 and 2, quickly and briefly retold in Jules' POV, and focusing mostly on the scenes between Jules and Kate. It was pretty heart-wrenching. Sometimes unrequited love is the most epic. I wish he had someone to share his pain with though. Maybe he should tell Charlotte, since she is in a similar situation with Ambrose. Maybe they could empathize with each other. I feel so sorry for them both.

I have to confess that I LOVE Jules - well, I did, before I read this novella. I always liked Jules' character, charming, charismatic, loyal and witty with a great sense of humor that always left a smile on my face. So I was excited when I heard there was going to be a novella about him. And then, I found out what it was going to be about.

I'm sorry, but I've never been a big fan of Kate. She was always such a blah character, and I couldn't stand her in the second book because she was so difficult. And I liked Vincent enough, but he was a bit on the sappy side, which was why Jules was so great.

But, this novella was just a retelling of the books we've read so far, only from an indirect Vincent point of view and first person Jules point of view. So, yeah, it was kind of boring.

And what in the world did Plum do to my Jules? She made him another version of Vincent! We don't need another Vincent. We don't need another sappy, lovesick character after Kate, who wasn't very impressive in the first place. All of Jules' flirty yet harmless lines I loved so much in the previous books? Now, I find out that he had an ulterior motive with them? Ugh!

I am just so, so disappointed in this novella. What I thought was going to be a side story on Jules' adventures just turned out to be the same story I've already read - only Jules is another Vincent, one who most likely won't get the girl.

01.11.13 - Oh hell yeah! A book about Jules! I am not a fan of Until I Die but I am SO down for this novella. Mitch, you and I are going to read this because you need to prepare for the squeeing from you sister once she switches from Vincent to Jules. :P

UPDATE April 3, 2013 (after release):
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE,LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! I loved having Jules point of view from both books Die for Me and Until I Die. I was smiling literally the entire book (well except in the end). I'm kinda surprised my face isn't hurting from the constant smiling. Before I read this book I already wanted Jules and Kate to be together. But now after reading this book... I'm kinda planning their fictional wedding right about now in my head (just kidding... not really). ;) I think Vincent is awesome and everything but Jules is just... irresistible. Team Jules!! Anyways, I loved this book. If you have read Die for Me and Until I Die then, definitely check this one out.

UPDATE (before release):

You know when you get this feeling like your heart is about to explode into a million pieces because you just heard or in this case read the greatest news ever??? Because, that kinda just happened to me. I am happy that Jules does like Kate( btw i knew it). : ) But I'm even more happy about a entire book where its all about Jules!!!! Why does April have to be so far away?????

“We’re not Boy Scouts,” I reminded him the third time. “We’re not here on earth to help little old ladies across the street. No one’s threatening to harm her, and she’s not going to commit suicide.”

I loved this, every single moment, I loved the recap of Die for Me and Until I Die in Jules POV. It was a bit scary though. It all started with him trying to warn Vincent from falling for the-sad-girl and it ended up with Jules himself liking her and then his liking grew to something much much more. Love. And everything is just so heartbreaking. I love Jules passion for painting. Jules is a good guy. He's a great friend and so so loyal. Vincent kept asking him to go sort things out with Kate on behalf of Vince, imagine how hard that was for Jules? I can't and I won't. I just hope that If I Should Die doesn't end with Jules dying. I'm so worried but excited. Can't wait =)!

Also, I read the acknowledgements (because I always do LOL) and I came across this,
“And many thanks to my readers, who, when given several choices for revenant points-of-view, chose Jules’s story to be written. He gives each and every one of you slow, sexy bises.

I wouldn't mind one or more slow sexy bises, Jules ;)!!!

I'm happy that I've discovered this novella. I've read this trilogy I while ago and Jules' story always left me bittersweet. He was my favourite character and deserved so much more. Seeing scenes from the books through his eyes was both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

So this was wonderful. I loved being inside Jules' head. Even though it was heartbreaking at times, you really get to see a side to him that he rarely shows from Kate's pov. I always loved his character. His asshat sarcasm but really sweet and charming side. He's protective of Kate and puts his feelings aside for Vincent. He's loyal and selfless. I really felt bad for him. Jules deserves love too and I really hope Amy gives him a happy ending. Somehow.

But I really loved seeing the first two books from his pov because I got to see Vincent in a way that wasn't shown from Kate's pov too. Both boys are amazing and while I loved Jules, my heart was always with Vincent. Boy, how lucky Kate is to have two perfect guys pining for her, willing to risk their "life" for hers and protect her with everything they have. Of course she doesn't know Jules loves her since he keeps it locked up for the sake of his love and friendship for Vincent. I admire him for that and that's where I feel heartbroken. Maybe he'll find love. I can't wait to read the final installment of the Revenants series, one of my top favorite paranormal series. I enjoyed this short novella immensely. Amy Plum is a wonderful writer and creates awesome characters that make me fall in love with them and make me FEEL for them.
I highly recommend this series to all PNR fans. It's unforgettable and enjoyable. Also the sights that are described, I always feel like I'm there. I love reading these books because I can visit Paris through Jules, Vincent, Kate and the gang. I love it!!! Now I don't wanna finish yet...so sad it's almost over. *sniff*

Well, that was a waste.

For those of you going into this thinking there's going to be new and exciting material for you to read about, I'm sorry to have to be the one to inform you that you're mistaken.

This was like a Sparknotes of the first book, except from Jule's POV. It added nothing new to the series, other than reminding us of the fact that he's in a sadly one-sided love triangle. The dialogue was the same, the though processes were the same, EVERYTHING WAS THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE NARRATOR.

WHY???

And fair warning, DO NOT read this before you've read book 2 (like yours truly just did). Why? Because you'll get majorly spoiled for the second book.

I didn't think it was possible for me to love Jules any more than I already did.

There is a song I kept thinking about while reading this, Radiohead's "All I need"

"I am a moth who just wants to share your light
I'm just an insect, trying to get out of the night
I only stick with you because there are no others
...
You are all I need
You are all I need
...
It's all wrong, it's all right
It's all wrong, it's all right"

Unrequited love and obsession
This novella is a recount of the events from the previous 2 books from Jules POV, including the very first time he saw her and how her and Vincent came to be.
I love Jules. Not just his romantic side, but the way he thinks in regards to women.
He might be a flirt and all, but he never tries to do anything that may hurt them.

"Rule number one with the babes is don't hurt them."

Having never before been in love, he's completely taken aback when he realizes his feelings for his best friend's girlfriend are more than just platonic.
He's honest & loyal, and no matter his feelings for Kate he will never do anything to hurt Vincent.
He tries to do what he can to not hurt him.

"She is my inspiration. My muse. My obsession."

This novella made me tear up a bit. This sort of thing brakes my heart, but I loved it. I loved being able to see into Jule's mind and see that there is way more to him than what we see in the previous books. I want him to be happy.

I cannot wait to read If I Should Die Revenants 3 and see how things work out for him.

Amy Plum is brilliant, and I'd like to applaud her on doing what I wish all published authors who have year-long waits between their books would do!! Die for Her was the perfect look back into Kate and Vincent's Parisian undead romance, giving fans of the series the ideal refresher course in what's happened so far and where we stand before the final book, If I Should Die, releases in May. Written from Jules' POV, we see some of the behind the scenes moments as Vincent falls for Kate, even though it's really the story of Jules realizing she's taken his heart as well. As much as I adore Jules, this was all about seeing more of Vincent and Kate for me, and I just loved it!! I'm nervous that this is leading into a bit of a love triangle now that Vincent is "dead", but I'm hoping Jules doesn't go there. I love him as the flirty best friend, and though I hate to see his heart breaking, he's not the one for Kate!!

I'm now officially chomping at the bit for If I Should Die, so thank you Amy for this wonderful treat!!

Amy Plum did an amazing job writing a male's POV and especially, Jules'. Not many

I know majority of the fans are team Vincent, but I liked Jules.

Through Jules' voice we see how Vincent fell in love with Kate and also how Jules fell in love with her too.

Kate is not Vincent's first love. Vincent was engaged to someone before he "died". I know Vincent loves Kate, but in back of my head, I always think Kate will be second best.

"Man, no one will ever compare to Helene. It's been seventy years since you saw her murdered by those Nazis and you're still hanging on. You've just got to accept that your first love is your greatest, and everything else is going to be second-best. But second-best is better than nothing at all." (loc 76) This is what Jules said to Vincent.

Since this book is mostly following the first and second book, but from Jules' point of view, it's not really adding much. All this could already be read between the lines of the regular novel. However, it's written for the fans and I'm sure they'll love it.

I have been on a major countdown for the release of Die for Her. I was so excited to wake up on Tuesday to find it already on my Kindle and I wasted no time in immediately starting it.

As with the other books in the Revenants series, Amy Plum thrusts us right back into the beauty and romance of Paris. I was in awe when I read Die for Me and Until I Die, and I experienced the same reaction when reading Die for Her. I felt as though I was there walking right along the Seine with the characters. I could smell the smells they did, see the same sights and feel the same cold winter air as it whipped them. Plum has an amazing way with words and you will feel completely immersed in their world.

“She leaves an empty hole behind her. There was this feeling of optimism and joy in the house when she was around that's now turned into void. Like Vincent, I feel hollow. Sad. And as the days pass, I begin to realize I've grown to care for Kate. Not as my best friend's girlfriend, but as someone in and of herself. And I realize I miss her.”

This novella is a short retelling of the first two books in the series but told from Jules' point of view. Obviously with it only being sixty pages it is not a full retelling but it hits the major plot storylines that help us to understand how Jules has fallen for his best friends love.

“I find myself wishing that I could work that magic for her. That I could bring the smile back to her face. But I slap at those thoughts as if they were mosquitoes. What am I doing, caring so much about my best friend's love? I deny my feelings for her because they shouldn't exist.”

What is not to love about Jules? He is a romantic, a tortured artist and has a wicked sense of humor. Yes, he is player but this is because in all the years he has lived he has never allowed himself to get close to anybody. He didn't want the burden of breaking somebody's heart down the road when it would have to inevitably end due to him being immortal. But then there is Kate.

“I introduce the two girls. Kate leans over and whispers, "She's gorgeous!" And I respond with the truth: "She has nothing on you, of course, Kates. It's just that you are so very... taken.”

But the more time he spends with Kate the more he allows himself to get closer and to care for her. He is disgusted at himself for the feelings he is having and swears to never make them known to Vincent or Kate.

“It's with a feeling of despair that I return her to his arms. I want him to be angry. I want him to challenge me. Because then the truth will be out and I won't have to hide my feelings. But he trusts me too much to suspect me. And I love him too much to hurt him.”

Honestly, my heart breaks for Jules. I simply love him. I have no idea how his story is going to end happy. It is pretty clear that Vincent and Kate are destined to be together and I can only hope that somehow Jules is able to find his own happily ever after. Although, as much as I love Vincent... I am still secretly rooting for Jules. But even saying that seems wrong because Vincent is such a lovely character. If I am this torn I can only imagine how Kate will feel once she discovers that Jules is also in love with her.

“Their poses are all different but the face is the same. Painted from memory in scene after scene is the fresh-faced beauty. Kate.

It's the bargain I've made with myself. If I can't caress her body with my hands, I paint it with my brushes. Use my fingers to trace her lines.”

Thankfully the wait for the final book in the series, If I Should Die, is not to terribly far away. The publication date is set for May 7 2013 so only a month away. To say I am excited for this story to continue is a drastic understatement...

“She is my inspiration. My muse. My obsession.”

After reading Die For Her, I have a new appreciation for Jules. I already found him adorable in the previous books, but getting into his head in this novella, which also serves as a retelling of the events of the Revenants trilogy up to the end of the middle book through Jules’s point of view, just made me love him all the more.

Jules has got it really bad for his best friend’s girl. He loves Kate, too. And unlike Vincent’s love for her, it wasn’t love at first sight for Jules with Kate…his feelings developed over time as he slowly witnessed what Vincent saw in her. You have to read Amy’s extra/out-take of Jules’s point of view for the exact moment in which Jules’s feelings changed for Kate. *dreamy sigh*

Jules’s flirtatious personality is one that Vincent and Kate have appeared to look upon as harmless in what we’ve read so far. But the depth of Jules’s feelings for Kate was still a bit surprising but not altogether unexpected especially once we heard Jules’s side of things.

Vincent’s best friend actually had some key things in common with Kate…their love for art…and their love for Vincent. Jules looks upon Vincent as not only his best friend but he’s very much like a brother. He genuinely wants Vincent to be happy, but that wars with Jules and his own desire to be happy…and both boys feel that their future happiness lies with the same girl.

Typically, in love triangles, it is sometimes hard to imagine a girl being so lucky to have TWO hot boys in love with her, but in Kate’s case, it’s easy to see. Kate IS all that the boys see in her. They don’t put her up on an undeserving pedestal. She’s brave and selfless in her own right…if not a bit clueless sometimes…but no heroine is perfect.

And because this novella serves as a retelling from Jules’s point of view, we also get more insight into what went on when Kate wasn’t hanging around La Maison. We further learn that Jules shares Kate’s trepidation concerning Vincent’s plan to try to resist dying in order to be with Kate during her natural life…and those reasons are not selfish.

Jules had several opportunities to take advantage of the situation and be selfish--and make no mistake--he was very tempted on many occasions. But Jules is one of the good-guys…not only by his true nature but his nature of being a BARDIA revenant.

This is unrequited love described at its best…because as much as Kate and Jules would probably be very good together, she and Vincent do belong together, in my opinion, and Kate is true in her love for Vincent. She never led Jules on. I don’t know how Jules will ever be happy, as she obviously cannot have both. Having just read another infamous, well-written love triangle not too long ago, I’m counting on Amy Plum to find a solution that truly works and everyone gets their happily-ever-afters in the last book, If I Should Die, of which, I’m just about to start!

“Jules?” she says, a question in her voice.

the line above is the one that caught my attention. The one that made me pause...and raise my eyebrows and wonder....What was Jules doing...and how long had he felt this way.

We'd always read everything from Kate's perspective so we were always seeing things through her scewed perceptions.

I always thougth Jules was a flirt, was just a silly beautiful boy who loved and enjoyed women but never settled down.

Until that moment up in the studio, I'd never even wondered.

This little Novella from Jules perspective was just wonderful. Not only do we see some of the interaction of the boys in the house, but also Charlotte. We also see the pre-stories and lies that Violette told. It was a great fresh perspective

and will tide me over until book 3 (especially the preview :D)

[Wednesday, ‎October ‎9, ‎2013] So yesterday I got If I Should Die [Hardcover] and Die for Her [PDF]. And I couldn't help myself... I updated this page and added so many information. I am a HUGE fan of the series, of Revenants, of Kate, Jules and Vincent, of Paris... the city of lights and romance.

So Basically, Die for her is Jules's side of Die for Me and Until I Die, same events, different point of view.

OMG... Jules!! I LOVE him! But to read what's inside his mind and heart was just amazing... the way he loves Kate so silently is WOW... my heart is with him. I got to see what will happen in the final book.
