These are no ordinary princesses . . . they're Rescue Princesses!
Princess Clarabel loves being a Rescue Princess. She and her friends are committed to saving animals in trouble-wherever they may be!
When Clarabel finds an injured dolphin during Ampali Island's Royal Regatta, she knows just who to call for help-her fellow Rescue Princesses! Her friends are brave, talented, and super smart. They're so amazing in fact, she's worried she'll fall behind-but Clarabel is about to discover she has an incredible gift.
This cover was amazingly designed, and it does give me a sense of adventure while reading it. 5/5 Chev's picks Recommended for: middle school students --- Like my post to be mentioned ;) (and get a shoutout if you follow my bookstagram, wattpad and pinterest I am usually found here: https://beacons.ai/chevreads Find me on: Instagram: @chevreads Wattpad: @writerthursday Pinterest: @thursdayfrappe Youtube: @chevreads P.S. Our young female animal rights adventurers are at it again. They saved a deer in the first book and now they're bound and determined to rescue a dolphin. These books show strong female characters and are something I'm glad for my daughter to read about.
1.5 - I understand why some of the kids I teach are into this series and it has some merits in terms of friendship and overt messages that it gives - the princesses rescue animals, they don't want to follow 'princess' rules, etc. And I can recall why I as a young girl would have enjoyed this (if it had existed) - BUT - while I appreciate its attempt at 'girl power', I am troubled by the way that plays out in denigrating the prince. He's set up as the villain here, but there's an implication throughout that boys are dumb and don't get it. I'd much rather see books about strong girls/young women do not have to have to buy into such a gendered perspective/divide.
This is the second book in the Rescue Princesses series for kids that I am currently reading with my daughter at bedtime. This one follows the princess named Clarabel as she finds a dolphin in need and immediately calls on her 3 friends for help. This was a cure story where Clarabel struggles because she thinks she isn't as talented as her friends but realizes that everyone has something they can add and talents that are their own.
This series is adorable - especially for young ones beginning to read chapter books. Yes they're princesses with the requisite girliness, but they're on a mission to rescue animals complete with ninja skills.
My best friend, sister and I were all obsessed with this book series as children. We would play together and pretend to be them for years. To this day princess Clarabel holds a special place in my heart.
Helping animals, ninja training, lots of princess clothing descriptions, friendship among girls with different personalities/strengths, bravery/adventure, and magical jewels!
I would have loved this book as a little girl because I loved dolphins! I think this series is adorable. My daughter thinks it needs more animals and fewer princesses!
My 5 year old daughter loves Rescue Princesses. I wish there were more pictures, but I like the positive message for girls and that it promotes loving animals.
My daughter liked it, but thought the story had too much going on. I was just so thrilled that she picked out a chapter book in French for us to read 😝
My daughter didn't seem to enjoy this one as much as the previous (though technically, I believe this is the second book in the series, we read 1, 4, 3, and now 2). I personally thought it was about on par with the rest of the series, cute and age appropriate (for young primary aged girls). I enjoyed that unlike the other 3 books we've read, there wasn't a "bad guy" per se causing an animal to be in danger. I also enjoyed the small side moral of the story that just because you don't have the same talents as your friends, doesn't mean you aren't talented/special in your own way.
The story is about 4 girls named Emily, Clarabelle, Lulu and Jaminta. Clarabelle was asked to go get some shells from the beach, she saw Prince Samuel there. He was digging up in the sand. He was digging up where some baby turtles were but Clarabelle and the other girls stopped him. During the story Clarabelle finds out that she could talk to animals. I enjoyed the book a lot.
