An Evergreen Christmas

Rate this book
Dr. Holly Green hasn't celebrated Christmas since age thirteen when her parents were killed in a car accident on Christmas Eve. An uber surgeon and social wallflower at New Hampshire's Granite State Medical Center, Holly successfully dodges the hospital party every year, except this year when she meets Dr. Noel Shepherd, sexy, new surgeon on the block who's determined to end her absenteeism.

The polar opposite of Holly, Noel revels in the Christmas spirit, sporting a penguin print tie and Santa sticker on his beeper.

From the moment Holly bumps into Noel, she can't deny her attraction to him. Noel likewise lights up around Holly.

When their relationship heats up over the holidays, Noel buys an evergreen tree that he and Holly could decorate together. But his surprise quickly sours when Holly refuses to have anything to do with the tree. Has Noel crossed the line, catapulting Holly into a Christmas she isn't ready to celebrate?

I was looking forward to reading a romance set in a hospital setting but unfortunately this book disappointed. The author did nothing to make you care about the characters and the writing style was reminiscent of an adolescent writing fanfiction.

I read An Evergreen Christmas when I traded Kindles with my mom.

Dr. Holly Green and Dr. Noel Shepherd a new surgeon at the Medical Center bump into each other, attraction, romance with a sweet holiday story to make An Evergreen Christmas an enjoyable reading experience. Holly has not celebrated Christmas since the death of her parents on Christmas Eve when she was thirteen and Noel brings her out of her reluctance to face the holiday and learn to enjoy it again. Top that with a happy ending to make it special during the holidays.

another good book by Dr. Goodwin, well written, good characters. i felt bad for dr. green, who had a really bad experience as a child, with christmas, but glad that a great man entered her life and helped change that. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.I look forward to more of Dr. Goodwin's books.

DNF

Had they not met only hours ago this would be cute. But considering they haven't even had a conversation Noel comes off as stalkery and controlling. I couldn't get past him dictating what she's doing and what she's eating within hours of meeting.

A Clean Christmas Romance

An Evergreen Christmas by Tanya Goodwin is part of the Evergreen Series of books where the story continues. This book was alright.

Skilled Surgeon, Dr. Holly Green, is very particular and a task master. She loves order and organization. She withdraws behind her drill sergeant façade and never interacts with any of the staff members at her hospital. She harbours some deep hurts and this is the only way that Holly knows how to deal with them. However, another colleague might just force her to deal with her issues.

New and Attractive Surgeon, Dr. Noel Shepherd has arrived at New Hampshire's Granite State Medical Center. He is very easy going and open about most things. When he likes something, he ensures that he makes every possible move to get it. However, this type of focus might land him into some trouble or might let him attain what he wants.

The story was interesting but very predictable. There was only one point of view, the female protagonist's. And we never knew what could be lurking behind the surface with Noel. The interactions between Noel and Holly ramped up too quickly and appeared unrealistic. At times, I understood, Holly's dilemmas and her concerns, but it appeared as though she was whiny and insecure.

I did enjoy the fact that the protagonists full names are all Christmas related, very smart. I enjoyed the medical terminology and procedures as well. There were some interesting characters and some of them were allowed to contribute more than others.

If you are looking for book with no over the top angst that is clean and continues into two more happily ever afters, you will like this book. Plus, it is more of a medical romance, for the lover of that genre.

I can't believe I am still reading Christmas stories in March! I just couldn't help it though this has such an awesome cover and I actually needed it for a challenge so here we are.

Liked it alot! Holly had her reasons for not appreciating Christmas but still I found her quite mean and unpleasant with her co-workers to begin with. I get that she was hurting but sadly life goes on after tragedies and you eventually have to deal with it and move on. Noel is my hero from the time he enters the scene. Holly very much dislikes him at first but it doesn't take his wit and charm long to begin warming her up.

I really loved the play on the names Holly and Noel. That was so clever. The story is just a nice cozy romance to curl up with on a cold day. It has sad spots but the characters help each other thru. I'd love to have had a Noel in my life a couple of times!

In reality probably only a 1.5 stars. There were so many typographical errors that it was REALLY hard to focus on the story being told. I'm not sure who should be more ashamed ...the author or the publisher that allowed this book to go to print with missing words, using wrong homonyms (waste when it should have been "waist"), incorrect pronoun usage (he when it should have been "him"). Other than that, the writing was mediocre...written in short, simple sentences making it very "choppy" instead of smooth and descriptive. The is also a lack of character development; after finishing the book, I'm still wondering, "Who are these people." They just weren't very memorable. Overall a very predictable book for this genre. And a perfect example of why I almost never choose books in the Romance genre.

There is a strange use of spacing within contractions and a plethora of misspelled words. The name of the main female is Holly Green. What were her parents thinking?😜. Thank goodness her boyfriend is not named Barry Red. 🤣

All that is off-putting and ultimately makes it difficult to read. The story itself is cliche and not my style.

This was a great read. I love the hospital setting and how early on in the book the Hero and heroine meet. Noel was quite funny and I like how he brought out the fun side of Holly. Though he was persistent, his behavior was still sweet and he didn't give up on Holly.

Fairly nice Holiday romance. I'm not one for romances dedicated to a holiday but I liked this one.

Not anything special but not bad either.
