Seeing the reunion of Clare and Raki is touching - and we finally find out what the problem is with Claymores' bodies. And it's finally good to see Clare again. Incredibly good to see Clare again. :)

Second reading: The big secret of how do their bodies look like is not so awful - and, in fact, it's not consistently being observed throughout the story. That being said, there is again a bit of clarity in what's going on - everyone prepares for the heroic finale, a finale that feels like it might make a bit more sense.

This is the 23rd volume in the Claymore series. This series is supposed to wrap up this year with volume 27. This was the best volume in this series yet. We finally get to see what has become of Clare. We also get the long awaited reunion between Clare and Raki.

Raki travels with Yuma, Helen, Tabitha, Cynthia, Miria, and Deneve back to the strange creature that is Clare, Luciela, and Rafaela all mashed into one. Raki uses his connection with Clare to help her. Miria also uncovers the horrible secret behind how the Yoma are made.

After all of those events the whole crew travels to the city of Rabona to take a final stand against the thing that is Priscilla.

This was a spectacular volume in this series. There are a lot of major revelations and a lot of progress in the plot. The story is very linear, action packed, easy to follow, and well put together. The illustration remains top notch as well.

Raki is an awesome character and it was so fun to have him back in the story. I also really loved that Clare was back in the story (if only briefly). It was wonderful to have all of my favorite characters banding together at last to fight for a common cause.

Overall this was the best book in the series yet. There are a lot of huge revelations and I really enjoyed where the story is going. I can’t wait to see what volume 24 holds. I would recommend this series to fans of action-packed fantasy manga.

Ma quanto è bello questo manga?
Non ho parole per descriverlo, so solo che ormai è diventato uno dei miei preferiti in assoluto.
Mancano pochissimi volumi alla fine e già sono crisi, chiedendomi come farò senza Clare e le altre.

Claymore is a manga about Yoma who pretend to be human in order to kill and eat the humans. The Claymore are the hybrid of the two stronger faster but still human with the ability to slay the Yoma which they do for a price. They travel from village to village slaying Yoma with nothing but the sword on their back using the Yoma abilities but slowly turning into a monster that they hunt. When the time comes a Claymore will send a black card to another claymore to be slain before the Yoma takes over and so they die as a human.

In the 23rd volume Raki travels with the rebels by boat to beat Cassandra the abyssal to where Clare and the other warriors are now in a mass. The abyssal is being called to Pricilla and the girls are going to attempt to stop her from reaching Pricilla and being absorbed making her even harder to destroy. Upon returning Raki is able to pull Clare from the mass also releasing Pricilla and her now hosts. With death in both directions they need to make a stand against the rising odds. Will they be able to stop the battle headed their way or will the city be lost as well as them.

I like Clare she’s a sword carrying slayer who isn’t afraid to die charging in risking her life. She's grown a lot in the last several volumes leading up to the battle in the north. After faking her death along with her fellow claymore's she's returned after seven years to battle the Organization. While she may not be the strongest she's determined and unwilling to give up. She's one of those underdog characters you can't help liking. We've seen a little of Raki having grown up into a man who fights yoma he’s been captured by the organization. Clare and Priscilla have been trapped in a ball of flesh locking them both away from the others.

I’ve seen all of the episodes on Netflix a few years ago actually binge watched them over a long weekend. While it’s been a while I don’t think the anime has gone this far in the series. I don’t remember the girls taking on the organization which is where the story has turned. It’s interesting learning that the organization which has been creating claymores for a long time may not be the good guys after all. I love the concept for the Claymore the hybrids created using parts from the monsters that they have been created to fight against the Yoma that they created. The art is great it gives me just enough to create the story in my head as I read each detailed page. This is only my 2nd manga so I don’t have a lot to base on but I’m super addicted to them. They are perfect for when I have some downtime or when I feel like reading back to back. I already know that the ending is close as I’m about halfway done. I’m anxious to see how it’s all going to play out.

I am really happy with this volume. Like really really happy! Especially Chapter 129. It's just so heartwarming. I am almost at the end and I am not sure if I will be happy or not but I am just excited to learn more of what will happen next!!! It is getting really interesting and exciting!

Interesting pieces of the world revealed.

World: The art was solid. Especially the new Agatha. The world building is solid. We get a real answer of who the organization is and what is a Yoma so that's good. We see the result of their work and the pieces fit somewhat together.

Story: Clare is the focus here and it's well don't. We have not had her for a while and it shows the writing quality that we fell in love with the rest of the cast. The pieces are in place for the finale now.

Characters: Raki is here and he serves a solid purpose. Not a lot of depth for the characters but that's not been what this series is about. Clare is handled well also. It's emotionally impactful and on point.

Good emotional book.

Onward to the next book!

Is it better than the last few 4* volumes? Probably not, but it gets the extra point for all those tasty revelations and reunions.

"Miracles aren't something you wish for. You seize them using your own strength!"

Not only does volume 23 directly continue an arc started in volume 22, we are well into the third or so major shift in a series filled with layered storylines going all the way back to the beginning. Don't start here.

Claws and Fangs of the Abyss (parts 7-8) deals with the aftermath of the fierce battles with the trio of resurrected number ones, the deepest secret of the Organization, and preparations for what's next. It wraps up recents plot threads nicely and also features a reveal that has been foreshadowed throughout the series.

Speaking of long kept secrets, Mark of the Warrior (parts 1-4) discloses behind another one that traces back to the beginning of the series. Its resolution is reasonable enough and well presented here. The remainder of the seven and Raki head back toward Rabona to try to face the remaining Creature of the Abyss before it can unleash an even greater evil. A little slow in parts, but it's laying foundation for the next stage of the story.

The beginning of endgame for the series can be felt here. Some potentially important side characters are introduced, we get a lot of good moments and exchanges between our main protagonists, and the dangers and intrigue continue to scale surprisingly well given everything we've already seen. There are some threads that are becoming overdue for development / completion, but we seem to finally be getting back to them in earnest.

It's impressive that I can easily say even after so many volumes I'm still very much looking forward to the next.

Well, guess we're almost there. Miria has her Eren Yeager moment finding out the yoma have been turned humans all along, like the titans were in Attack On Titan, and decides to take out the head honcho (who I can't even remember the name of, he's that forgettable). There are dragon beings that humans have apparently been at war with for 150+ generations of claymore ladies/over 200 years I am guessing? Not explained. You know what, I would care more if I actually knew what the external threat was, which I don't. So the question becomes: Who did it better? Attack On Titan or Claymore? You probably know my answer.

Yeah, Clare and Raki finally have their tearful reunion, which was... fine. I don't understand if we're going for romance with their relationship. I'm assuming that's it, but in all honesty it's just a little icky to me, in the same way vampire age gaps are icky. I don't buy it for a second based on their limited interactions we see early on in the manga when Raki is a literal child, followed by a long period of nothing to do with each other. It feels forced? I think it would be better as a found family dynamic like the sisterhood is between the claymore, but here we are.

Four more to go... I can do it (I think).

A touching reunion demonstrates that the power of love and affection is greater than the bonds of powerful magic. A great reveal demonstrates that the great evil is eviler than one would otherwise assume.

And despite my snark, I really enjoy this series.

Today's post is on Claymore volume 23: Mark of the Warrior by Norihiro Yagi. It is the twentieth-third the long running Claymore series, you need to have read the first twenty-two volumes to understand the story. It is 195 pages long and is published by Shonen Jump Advanced. The cover has Miria facing something in the distance. The intended reader is someone who likes dark plots, high action, and strong female characters. There is mild foul language, no sexuality, and lots of violence in this book. The story is told from third person close of the main character. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

From the back of the book- Rebel Warrior Miria penetrates te headquaters of the secret Organization that created her, discovering the appalling truth about Yoma. Meanwhile, human warrior Raki joins the Claymores on the battlefield and seems closer than ever to his goal of reunited with Clare, his Claymore companion. Yet the cycle of violence cannot be stopped- an epic battle is brewing and Priscilla, a powerful force for evil, is back in the fight!

Review- We learn a lot about the history of the Yoma in this volume and how they were created. Miria discovers the beings that Yoma and Claymores are made from and she frees them from the Organization and stops the experiment in this area. Most of the volume is about getting ready for Clare to return to the story. We get to see what happens when a Claymore is made because Clare comes out without the stitches needed to hold her together. The volume ends with Priscilla is back and everything is going to get real from here.

I give this volume a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

The story is all drawing together now, as the fight with the revived and then awakened past No 1's comes to an end, as well as the Claymores and the orginazation and now the fight between Priscilla and Claire is now shown to have been with the Destroyer as well. We also learn how yoma came to be and how horribly the Claymores were mutilated in the process of becoming warriors, something that's been hinted at numerous times in the series, almost from the beginning. One thing that did bug me is that once they awaken, they can't go back to human form but yet Priscilla and Isley and Riful all did, as did the whole group outside Rabona, who were just awakened ones, not abyssal ones so yea. And what about the Abyss Feeders? They seam to regenerate no mater what, so where are they? And they are supposed to be killed if the head is destroyed, but there were so many who came back from that in several fights so again, where?
Art and action are pretty good, and we are getting some answers at least.

I can't take this seriously when you are casually talking about the origins of Yoma like it's the weather. If what creates regular Yoma is a parasite, why do the people that become Yoma say things like - You never noticed I wasn't your brother anymore. Weird.
Raki was delivered to the Organization by a ship. And now he suggests it as a vehicle to get to Clare sooner. Again why can't this be shown sooner? Like simply show how that happened before randomly making it known that there is actually a waterway to get there. I find it hard to believe that it was so secret that even Claymores don't know about its existence.°
And now the Awakened Ones are... docile. Waiting for the blob-Clare-Priscilla thing to wake up. Didn't most of them lose their minds after awakening? What?
Well, at least Clare got to see Raki again. I honestly thought that Claymore's body would be gross, judging from the reactions we had throughout the series, but honestly, it's just a huge scar/stitch.

4.5/5 I’m bumping volume 23 up a bit for a few reasons. We finally get back to Clare and what more we finally get the long awaited Clare and Raki Reunion Special.

This is mainly a build up volume. This means we get a lot more dialog and story. It’s nice to have a volume here or there that takes more than 20 minutes to read.

After the rebellion ends Miria’s group meets Raki they then all rush back to Robona to try and retrieve Clare before the arrival of the new Abyssal zone.

Clare is retrieved and then Priscilla springs out as well and starts attacking other awakened beings and placing them on the path to Rabona.

A triumphant Miria on the cover of Volume 23.

I have to admit that the series has gotten a bit confusing. I no longer am sure of who the characters are. I get confused between Yoma and Yuma in the storyline. I didn't realize until this edition that the Abyssal were not Abysmal. I could go on and on about what I've lost track of in the series and yet, I enjoy the story of the female hybrid human/monsters who go out to fight the male hybrid human/monsters and other things as well. I'm looking forward to #24 as well.

Convergence. Finally reunited. Oh Dear Claire! Like that day 7 years ago back in Rabona. And the mystery of their bodies revealed. Claire has Rafaela's skill and memories? But why? I don't understand... What's so special about them? And what's the deal with Raki's new aura? Is he half Isley? Or part Priscilla now? And will the rouge claymores and the awakened ones unite forces? We shall find out soon enough.
